Please join us while we take time to smell the roses. (Or admire the first Crocus.)

You have a crocus blooming? Lucky dog!
Yummy. Looking at our path today at night I almost thought I saw the forget-me-nots. I had to look twice to make sure they weren't really there. They were so pretty last year, for such a long time. On the other hand this picture was taken near the end of May, since I didn't get the camera until my birthday! This was The First Picture I ever took.
Beautiful pics!
I have lots of greenery, but no flowers yet in the areas where I planted crocuses.
Andy, nice photo, made me smile....spring is on its way!
I'll take a beautiful pic like that with a sign of spring any day. thanks, Andy
it's snowing here. not much...just enough to annoy me. yep, I'm crabby. it's March and I would at least like to see a daffodil head breaking ground or something.
well, Andy said we should take time to smell the roses. I wish you could smell this one. It's a miniature I've had in a pot inside. my minis aren't doing very well in the house and I think I'll plant them out when REAL spring gets here, but here's a bloom on Baby Darling. It's tiny, but has a wonderful rose scent, which most mini's don't. The bloom only lasted about 1/2 a day, probably because of the heat in the house, but it still smells good and it has several more buds.
very nice gram.....I can almost smell it!
Wow. That is surprising!
Andy, I had to peek at my crocus. Nope, they're full of snow. I don't think they are even out of the ground.
You have a way with bugs. Was the bug or the neighbor the patient one? :))
Carrie, love the forget me nots. I went on a blue binge and never tried planting them. I didn't know they got so tall.
Grampapa, what a fragile delicate looking rose. Very pretty!
I never served the NO Bake Cookies. Walnuts - fresh cracked, raisins, and coconut added. Why, they're almost healthy!! They're also almost gone!
I finally made a batch of those this morning...I called them 'Al's skillet cookies' on the recipe. no walnuts (I'm extremely allergic). just talking to a friend whose mother made them over 40 years ago...called them 'candy cookies'. she was glad to get the recipe again.
Isn't that funny. I remember making them when I was a kid. I don't know how old the recipe is. I myself would add chocolate chips!
We were in HyVee Saturday stocking up on things Walmart's grocery section doesn't have and I picked up two bottles of Hersheys Special Dark Syrup. Mmmmm mmmmm!
those look good - they don't last long that's for sure
Absolutely no signs of spring here. The weatherman said the 12" 's of heavy wet snow we got early in the week had the moisture content of all the snow within the previous year. We got 6" more since then.
Wow. My first thought is ground water and if we'll have any. There are so many farmers irrigating now. It's a scary thought to not have enough drinking water much less water for plants. We still have our thin layer of snow, tho here and there it's melted.
Billy, I wish we could send you some of our rain, almost 3 inches last week.
There were snow squalls in the area on my way home today. I figured there was just enough time for Sarah's walk (20 minutes). We had 3 minutes to spare, lol. She was still eating her post-walk treat when the wind kicked up and the snow started flying, heavily. 15 minutes later every thing was white and the sun came out.
I wonder how those little Crocus will look tomorrow with the high temp in the teens.
Andy P
Wow, that's timing. I looked at my Daffodils. Most of the snow is off and they are just up enough to see the tips. We still have an icy breeze. I'm trying to not wish for warmer weather because I don't want the trees budding out too early.
I had red winged blackbirds under the feeder this morn. I've never seen them in town. This is the 3rd place I've posted this picture, so I hope I'm not boring anyone. The sun was just coming up. I am getting better at grabbing the camera and clicking away!
Billy, Isn't it fun to get a 'good one' with the camera? I'm shameless when I get a 'good one', I'll post it everywhere. lol
You are both fantastic with your pictures. Spring is definitely on the way. Please keep sharing. The rest of us are still buried under the snow!
Andy, glad you and Sarah didn't get caught in the snow squall. I hope she appreciates that you watch the weather for her LOL
the sun just came out here in the bitter cold. at least it doesn't look so bleak. my sun room faces south and warms right up on sunny days even when it's very cold out (currently -1*F) house plants are lovin' it.
Gram, Sarah didn't even ask for her walk today. High temp was around 11 F and very windy.
I often wonder if she appreciates my attentions. I was sure of it when I first got her from the pound. She tries very hard to please, too.
Andy P
Andy, I'm sure she does. she sounds like a great companion.
I begged off a meeting tonight because of this cold. Yikes, it is COLD! It's COLD! I'm pretty cold-blooded; I don't seem to make any heat of my own :-((. Like a snake, or maybe a lizard.
xxxx, Carrie
Gram, Sidekick Sarah is a honey. She never, ever gets up on any furniture. Her bed in the room adjacent to mine where she can see me in bed.
I had a medical emergency last month, wee hour ambulance and all. For the next week she slept on the floor beside my bed.
Andy P
Yes, it was downright brutal here today. That wind provoked some choice words from me that cannot be printed!
Sounds like a one of a kind companion, Andy. How old is she?

Andy, Sarah is your loyal, loving, companion! Sounds like your weather is nasty again according to the weather channel.
Carrie, I used to think I was a reptile. I wore thermals the first 10 years of my married life since we tried to keep the thermostat at 68°. That and two pair of socks, long sleeves and a sweater. Now I sit is short sleeves. Old age and weight gain! Has a few benefits, but I'd rather put the long sleeves back on!
We made a suprise run to DD and brought DG home for the day Wednesday. Can you find Buzzy Bee? This is only half the mess we usually have. Grandma sneaks toys back in the box when someone isn't looking. He was exactly 2 1/2 on the 6th.
Billy, Sarah was almost an orphan today. Some jerk decided to back out of his driveway without looking. A very close call for old Andy P.
You would be cold in my house. It never gets above 68 unless it's very sunny or hot outside. It's going down to the low single digits tonight. This should be the last real cold snap of the season, it is March after all. LOL.
DG is a cutie, we all need something to keep us busy.
Andy P
Wow, that is a scare! In our old age, we've shoved it up to 70°. We don't seem to have a hot furnace tho. The air is cold a few feet above the register. It's a Lenox electronic ignight and not too old.
March seems to have better weather than April. April seems to be colder and damper, tho not necessarily rainy.
He is a cutie and smart. Very talkative. Just can't understand half of it :))
In like a lion, out like a lamb? The irises that accidentally sprouted in Dec or Jan have freezer burn now. Wait and see if they bloom this year or if they skip one. It's too late for a flu shot, too late to put plastic on the windows. DH says Sun will be 54*. Today's high was 24*. And windy as all get out.
xxx, Carrie
I try to keep my house at 60 F to save on oil. I wear a coat inside but I bought a small electric oil filled heater for the (sissy) cats. Sometimes I bump it up to 65 F, or (hanging head in shame) ran it up to 70 F when I was sick with bronchitis.
Andy - I was at a trade show (in sunny Orlando) two weeks ago with my sister buying dog toys for her internet store and saw something that made me thing of Sarah. There are homeopathic remedies for dogs and there are three different kind for anxiety! The company that makes them is Homeopet. I thought that might be something to try for Sarah when the wind is blowing and she is traumatized.
Wow, YankeeCat, you have me beat by a mile. 67 is the highest in my house. 64 overnight. I never hear the end of it from my wife.
Some tough masters of the thermostats here.
Billy, I got a kick out of your romantic nightware as a newlywed!
Andy, I am happy you are OK!!
You know that April showers bring May flowers, but
Do you know what the May flower brings?
Pilgrims?
Ouch! That is New England humor, right?
I knew it would be Victor!
Unfortunately, my other answer was going to be allergies!
-4 degrees here, was -25 on tues. so it's almost a tropical breeze now.
April showers brings May flowers. Does May flowers bring June rose's??
