I just signed on to say pretty much the same thing, but
Kristi has said it better. God help you all through this sad day.
Anita
Pull Up a Chair XXI
Hope you can feel our hugs and prayers around you, Marcie. You would be surprised, I think, if you knew how often you are on our minds. Please take care of YOU - you mean a lot to us.
I'm thinking of you all this morning. Hope everyone is fine
and keeping on with keeping on.
Bama, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers
this sad day, and I know that having so many people who
love you surrounding you this day is a great source of comfort
to you, that includes both those near and far. It's gonna be OK.
You're gonna be OK. All my best,
Anita
Here's a pic of a Kalanchoe that my parents gave to me last year. I was afraid to put it in the garden because I thought it would rot, so I left it in the plastic pot it came in, set it in the garden and kind of neglected it. It bloomed a few days ago and I feel so unworthy, it's the most beautiful orange.
I'm thinking of you all, too. I hope everyone is having a glorius day.
Those are beautiful pictures, Fly! I so envy your garden ....and your camera!
Thanks K!
Not to mention your talent, Fly!!
Yeah, that too!
You too, Murmur, Ms. Professional Photographer, you. Both of ya'll should have your pictures published.
Haha, you guys are a riot!
M, you are the one with the talent.....all those beautiful bird shots....I can only do subjects that don't move.
Hope you are well Murmur and K!
All is well here - just lots of "stuff" with the old folks. My dad had one small and one huge cancerous "things" removed from his face Wednesday and has been quite confused ever since. We're hoping it's just the trauma of the whole thing and the fact that he has had to sleep in his recliner for a couple nights (doctor's orders - hoping to prevent any bleeding). I had a very confused phone call from them at 6:30 this morning - they don't get up until 11:00 or even noon. My dad thought he had a doctor appointment this morning at 9:00, but wanted to check with me to be sure. For once, I was still in bed at that time and the call totally disoriented me - so I was as confused as they. God help us all!!!
Ceejay, my itty bitty kitty, Friday, weighs almost 14 pounds! The vet says she is definitely overweight, that her bone structure, etc., is not big enough to support that much weight. This cat runs around more than any cat I have ever had - she can jump five feet off the floor. Now, tell me, how could she possibly still be overweight and how high would she be jumping if she was not???!!! Better watch that little Sunday girl of yours!
Bama, you know you are on my mind and in my heart and my prayers all the time.
Hello to everyone else. I have the day off and am heading outside.
Azaleas here are now on the wane. Ours bloom in February.
It's beautiful, warm and sunny here today. I just walked my second 30 minutes of the day...new orders from the doctor: 1 hour walking per day. I walk around my living room, making a circuit around the furniture in front of the fireplace. Good thing this is a big room. DH bought me a pedometer yesterday, but had to take it back since it was defective.
Gotta go...just realized Denzel Washington is on Oprah and don't want to miss him!
Oh Murmer, the confusion made me smile. I'm so sorry tho. Your poor Dad.
ROTFL, I always said Petey should have been a girl! I have two boys. Zoe is the alpha male and Petey runs and hides unless Zoe is biting his neck, paralyzing him. Poor Petey. I doubt she would jump much at all if overweight. Bone structure, pffft.
Fly, gorgeous!! I would love to have an Azalea. Just haven't tried yet.
Biv, I know you're serious, but a defective ped? Made me smile. It's just warming up here to start walking outside. Course, today it's raining, so here I sit.
Bama, said a prayer for you this morn. Take care of yourself. Better yet. Let the family take care of you.
Good job Biv, wish I would make myself do that, you'll be in tip top shape in no time.
Here's something I'm going to get to wear in the garden because I am a 'slave' to my garden. What do you think? Are ya going to get one?
http://www.designtoscano.com/jump.jsp?itemID=4464&itemType=PRODUCT&path=1%2C2%2C85%2C88
M, my dad, who's 82, has had a couple cancerous spots removed from his face. He has never worn sunblock until lately, years ago they just didn't know and didn't have it available. After my dad had quad bypass heart surgery and a pacemaker put in, not too much bothers him anymore, guess it's all relative.
I have a kitty that is overweight and I've been trying to convert all of them to canned food instead of dry. She has been the hardest to change, she loves to (over) eat the dry. When she was little she was so athletic, she would do a 360 in the air chasing those toys on a stick.
Ooohhh, I love those! I'd never lose my wedding ring again!
My cats eat Purina Indoor dry food. Smells fishy! Their new fun is hopping on a rug and being pulled around the house! I've got to get a picture.
Zoe is the jumper here, but that's an impressive spin!
Fly - that is SOOOOOO You! We should all get one. And that foot jewelry that matches. Way cool. Before you know it, we'll all be wearing those renaissance gowns and flowers in our hair. Playing eukalaeles (sp for sure) and singing. I'll fix dandelion salad and honey water. Yuck, I'm gagging myself.
Uh K....I already do all that.
BP, I bet that's cute...the cats on the flying rug.
Geez, for a minute there I thought I was signed on at some
weirdo blog - Celtic slave bracelets, dandelion salad, honey water,
and a lute that is called a eukelele. Sheesh. Good thing Murmur and
Ms Biv had posted.
Murmur, so sorry your dad had to have surgery.
None of us used to worry about sunburn, except that it
was painful.
MsBiv has a broken whatchamacallit? Wow - maybe it's
only supposed to be used outside and isn't rated for indoors?
Maybe it has to detect sweat before it's activated? :o)

Good grief, I almost had a heart attack today !
I had a guy out to give me an estimate about doing
some yard cleanup and clearing out the weed patch
that once was a beautiful flower bed.
If I gave him an arm and a leg, that still wouldn't be enough
to cover the cost. Guess I'll just have to get things done bit
by bit and, at that rate, it will take about 3 years to get it all
done and looking presentable. Oy, vey iz mir !
Too bad the librarian across the street is gone, or I could
borrow her short shorts, fishnet stockings and red high heels
and maybe get a price reduction.
Looks like you'll be needing to borrow my slave bracelet.
Try getting more than one estimate, maybe he was just high. Kristy found some guys that were cheap, just because they pulled up all her rose bushes by mistake doesn't mean it will happen to you heehee
This guy is a farmer and knew the names of everything
growing here and comes highly recommended by Green Mama's.
I had someone give me a pretty close estimate last year, but they
kept saying they'd be here "manana," but manana never came.
Gotta get it done because it's a relatively small job and everyone
will be tied up soon with major landscaping projects. It's not too
busy right now here. Besides, he's got the most beautiful blue eyes. :o)
Nice teeth too. I'm tired of dealing with people with 4 silver front teeth.
Gotta go throw a lamb roast in the oven for my SIL.
Ciao for now.
duhhhh forgot to watch this, blame overwork, certainly not my rotting brain. I'll come and do yard work just to get away from all this ugly snow and cold.
I love that catalog Tuscana, but I think they stopped sending it to me after I didn't buy anything for a while.
Pooh...I was going to go back to my reading chair but I see two beasties have taken it over. Is nothing sacred?
When it comes to the beasties, nothing is sacred.
I've been wondering where you were, Meezers.
Everyone on my dad's side has had skin cancer. We're Swedish, it just comes with the territory. Especially since we didn't know better to protect our skin years ago. I've got a couple of spots that need to be looked at....just got to make the time and get it done!
K, I'm going to remind you every day!
We just watched Marie Antoinette.......hated it! Did you know Marie was 14 when she married Loius XVI? How awful!
The music throughout the film was modern rock, it wasn't right for that film. It was long and boring.
Most of her days were spent looking at luxurious fabric, picking out shoes, playing cards, drinking champagne and eating pastries, at least that's the way this film depicted her life. She was married to an indifferent man and had 2 children, who had a very small part.
Anyone else see it?
I've never bought anything from Toscano, they'll probably stop sending it to me too. I get the emails and that's how I remember to look at their site to see what's new.
Hello. I've never bought anything from them, ever.
It's been almost 15 years now that they keep sending
me the "LAST" catalog.
It got to 80 here today ! Still no rain, even though they've
been saying it's gonna rain for the last two days. Darn.
We could sure use it. I don't want to have to start the watering
routine this early.
Meezers is surprised that the cats took her chair? Now I know
she's a fibber, but you gotta love them little fur balls, don'tcha?
I saw it and agree......it sucked. I was bored in the first 10 minutes. It won an Oscar for best costume design. The dresses were lovely but that was the only good thing about the film.
I've read a couple of biographies...she's portrayed different in all of them. Hard to know what to really believe.
I've never bought anything from Toscano either but I got my email today! I think they have some wickedly weirdish stuff....like those tables with statues of barely clad women looking like vampires or something. The only thing I like is the dragon water spout for your gutters. That's kind of neat. I like gargoyles and dragons....just don't want my home decorated with them.
Mahnot - I had to start watering 2 weeks ago. It's weird that you had warmer temps up there than we did here. I just closed my windows for the first time in a week. The humidity was getting a little heavy. It was a pleasant 73° almost all day. We're supposed to get storms on Monday but I never believe those weather men.
It was 47 in Chicago today. daughter on phone,
brrrrrrr.....
My dad has had skin cancer before, too - and he never seems to think that these spots could be anything. Duh. So he's shocked when the biopsies come back positive for cancer. I get told by any doctor I go to, no matter what his/her specialty, that I am a prime candidate because of my pale, pale skin. How exciting. I used to burn myself to a crisp every summer, many times, as a kid. I wasn't too bright.
Mahnot, blue eyes are worth a lot, you know!!! When we had the earthquake in 2001, the younger-than-I FEMA rep who came to my house was so sexual that I could barely concentrate - he reawakened feelings I thought had gone away forever - lol!!! I don't know if it was the cowboy boots and the swagger, or the beautiful blue eyes, but holy moley. I was in a book club at the time and shortly after that we were reading "Prodigal Summer" by Barbara Kingsolver. In it she has an affair with a younger man. The girls in the book club teased me unmercifully!! (Great book, by the way - think I'll read it again . . . LOL!)
K, do you think renaissance gowns and flowers in the hair is unusual? I'm of the flower child era, you now (I was too busy raising children to be one, but it's never too late, right?).
Fly, even DH (who doesn't like animals) brags about Friday's athletic abilities. I hate to think of her just laying around being a fat old lady!!
Meezer, glad you're okay! And why should the kitties give up THEIR chair for YOU?
BillyP, oh do please share a picture of the kitties riding around on their magic carpet!
I was outside for six hours today - it was cloudy at times, and windy, but no rain and I was just one happy camper having a day to do whatever I wanted!!! Did some plant dividing and repotting, weeding, planning (not planting), etc. Tomorrow I'll be at the Island County Master Gardeners' Workshop all day - can't wait!!! I missed last year and the season just didn't get off to a proper start!
It was about 35 here, and I thought it was a heat wave too. My birth mother was Swedish, but I inheirited my Mediterranean skin from my dad's side of the family.....and consider myself lucky. And, no I wasn't surprised at the chair take over, they habitually head for the warmest spots! And, like an idiot, I let them do it. Found out this week that the new kitten is scared witless of going down the stairs to the basement litter pan. Hope she grows out of, don't look forward to keeping the small one in the laundry room indefinitely. Now she wants me to go to bed. I obey.
OK Hippie Girl, don your purtiest renaissance gown and let's see them flowers in your hair. I really want to see it! My mom was a hippy and I'm proud of it! Hope you have fun at the MG workshop tomorrow. I'll be working our perennial sale. Woo Hoo!
Meezers.....brrrrrrr. Lucky you, mediterranean skin. Not fair.
Snort!! you made a double entendre' Not Fair....heeheeheehee!
Crxp!!! My post disappeared!!
Once again, and I hope for the very last time. I loved Kinsgsolver's Poisonwood Bible, and based on that, I bought Prodigal Summer. And I hated it - couldn't finish it. Go figure.
Ah, Meezers. So, Kristi's a working girl. We still love her. BTW, there's a bunch of doubles going on in the egg thread!
We should find some of our photos from "those days" and post them. Of course, they're not digital, so we'll have to scan them. That would be good for a hoot.
Sunday loves it in the pool area - her inner wild child emerges totally. She loves to dig frantically in the dirt (soil - for you MG's, LOL) and toss it into the air. She'll grab it between her paws, like with her mouse, and then toss it. Makes a big mess on the flagstone. And she races at full warp through the plants, climbs the taller ones. And any little plant (like my purple oxalis) is cut to the ground. And tossed in the air with the dirt. I think I told you how she wakes us up in the middle of the night by sharpening her claws on the scratching post in the bedroom, then moving to the couch and doing the same on the duets. We'll yell at her, toss a pillow at her, and if we don't get up, she moves to under the bed, where she does some more sharpening. Of course, that always gets us up, and then she runs behind the armoire. 'Cause, when we catch her - she's put out in the living area, and the door is shut. Lots of fun - for her! It's been getting earlier and earlier, and I noticed that Patchouli was taking her cue and getting up then too. So yesterday I asked DH what was going on, and I found out he was offering her some dry food so he could catch her, and of course Patchouli caught onto that and was getting treats too. AAaaaaarrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh! She's getting rewarded for this behavior! We had a little talk....I frequently can't get back to sleep fo a long time, and I am getting very cranky. Last night I said to DH that we didn't know how good we had it when we had just the two ragdolls - they are so laid back - and he said - yes, but it was boring... I think I like boring.
Never saw Marie Antoinette - and guess I never will. I am still wondering if I should watch Borat...K, demail me and tell me what was so over the top. If I have a forewarning, I can avoid it. I had read The Green Mile and so I was out of the room during that one gross scene.
Biv - Why an hour a day? That's unusual. 20 to 30 minutes is supposed to give you maximum benefit.
I'm still working on my Power Point program - man it is taking time! But I walked through the back yard yesterday, where nothing has been cut back since winter, and it looks awful. I think I need to go work on that first. And besides, it's nice right now, and it looks like it may rain...Have to check the forecast. I don't know why - it's never accurate anyway.
Good to hear from all of you.
Hello and goodbye. Just dropped in so that I don't get too far
behind in the posts.
Glorious day here, but no rain yet. Had to turn on the sprinklers.
Everything is soooo dry.
Well, it seems the ugly dry stuff that has taken over the flower beds
is Bermuda grass - tons of it, smothering everything that grew here
before when my daughter had beautiful gardens, until it got to be
too much for her hubby, working, taking care of her, the house, and
then the garden - poor guy. I'm waiting to hear when the guy can
start and hope it's NOW.
Gotta run to the Vet now and pick up Greta's pain meds. She takes
them twice a day, to the tune of $90/per month ! We're going to
the surgeon on Wednesday, so we'll find out about the other hip then.
Once that hip is repaired, and once she's healed, she won't need the
pain meds anymore. So he says. Wait and see.
OK - gotta run. The Vet closes at 1 PM today. Ciao for now.
(((((((( Bama ))))))))))))
Just got back from our perennial sale and boy, am I pooped. It was a great success!
I got an almond verbena, a dwarf orange jasmine, and 3 'Marilyn's Choice' Abutilon. Then, my sweet momma came up and bought 3 passies and 2 are for me! Hooray!
I need a nap....it's been awhile since I had to get up that early.
I spose we'll have to start talking about Bama behind her back to get her to come back here. (Are ya listening, girl???)
Nice sale, Kris, most of that won't survive here. Our snow is melting superfast, it's almost 50 if you stand in the sunshine out of the wind. LOL North side of the house is still knee deep in snow where it didn't get shoveled. No path to the big planters yet.
Daylight savings starts tonight, reset your computer clock, and your VCRs cause they won't update until the old start date which is three weeks from now. And three weeks from now you'll have to reset them again, after the automatic reset to DSL kicks in. What a pita. I bet if they put their so called minds to it, Congress could think of a few more things to annoy the crap out of us.
Mwahahahahah, CJ, rewards for bad behavior!! What a system!! Made me laugh so hard.
chow
hello everyone everyone so busy. have great Sunday and week to come..
thinking,e of you all..
