popping in here - Andy, I have had the nosebleed problems with similar treatments to you when I was younger. One thing I was recommended that does work is to take alfalfa tablets that have vitamin K in them which help to 'thicken' the blood and help clots form better.
print screen I have to bring in to a new photoshop file because word would not let you change it to a jpeg as an option. It's not the same as copy and paste - that you can do with most formats.
Jan - it's about .6 here now too, I think we are at 15 or so days below normal highs in a row.

I'm going out after lunch to get the saline spray, per order of the doctor.
Here is a link to the MSN page, see the Groups section, I clicked on the 'home & families' button and found a couple interesting groups. They are far from Daves but free and interesting. http://groups.msn.com/people?pgmarket=en-us You have to join each one individually to participate, many let you visit though.
Al, I have to watch my blood clotting, it's already too good. You get older and things get more precarious.

You can also drop the screen shots into emails in outlook. Perfect for sending error messages to techs. I make "how-to" handouts in Word using the screen shots and teach how to do it it in all my classes. There is a software program called Snagit that you can buy that does the same thing in the few applications that using the print screen button won't work in.
Wow, you guys have some really precise thermometers! I just have the kind where the red goo crawls up the glass thingy next to the numbers...It's good enough for me.
Andy, I'll check out the MSN groups. I gotta discipline myself to work harder first!
Harper
Yes, Harper. We must keep our priorities in order. On-line time is fun but shouldn't push aside the more important duties/chores.
I had to resist opening the laptop this morning until the chores were completed.
Andy P
Good point Harper! I'm good if I'm within a few degrees, never mind tenths of a degree. There must be a new generation of digital thermometers we haven't learned about yet.
Yesterday was 31.5 degrees all day. 50% of jetBlue (where DH works) flights were canceled. Today is even worse - the world is frozen and yet not frozen enough to count on it. I saw drips from the leaky gutter earlier; maybe it got up to 33? jB doesn't fly in "mixed precipitation". Snow is okay and rain is okay but sleet, freezing rain, hail, slush, ice pellets are all no-fly conditions. He's on his 12th hour of work in a 6 day work week - at least his check will look good with all the OT!

Dave - I love my digital thermometer, price has come down a lot on them now that everyone makes one.
I have a couple of digital therms with hygrometers for my houseplants, but even they don't have tenths. Wait a minute... come to think of it, my little atomic clock has a thermometer that reads to the tenths. Well, I'll be! I always ignore that one because it isn't near my plants, LOL.
Andy, I know what you mean about chores. I am the worst at self discipline of anyone I know. Today I grit my teeth and turned off all internet and mail and got something done for once! I'm only back for a bit. I'm addicted, you know. Nice ice pic.
Carrie, enjoy the OT moolah.

Jet Blue had some real unhappy customers..I do hear they are making good on the 11hours waits though. I can't imagine being stuck on a plane for 11 hours and not go anywhere! I wonder why they don't let the passengers off?
I always wondered that too Anita.
Because once they leave the gate, another plane fills the spot. The problem was they filled too many planes up with people with no plan for when or how they could take off, waiting for the elusive "break in weather" that never came. Once you're on a plane and it pushes back from the gate, there's no way to get out or in. My DH found that out a few years ago by falling off of the cart that was servicing a plane and broke his back. I think either the crew inside is locked in by the ground crew or locked out and can only open at a gate, something like that. The planes don't have those fold out stairs, and the runways and taxiways are way too busy and dangerous to let people out in and let them hike 0.5 miles through ice and snow and sleet and hail! Sorry to sound like one of Them, especially since they literally broke my husband's back which lasted a lot longer than 11 or 8 hours and he didn't get anything nice like free round trip tickets or gift certificates or candy or whatever. Hummph.
xxxxx, Carrie
I was stuck in a plane due to the weather [3 hours]- we were still at the gate. I guess that was the hope for a break in the weather situation.
Did you see the coverage of the 50 mile traffic jam in PA? Stuck for 24 hours!
Ouch, Carrie! Is your DH okay? I can't imagine. Not even candy? Sheesh!
Dave, haven't seen the traffic jam. I'll have to check it out now.
Oh, except for chronic back pain, he's ok; I guess the arthritis and torn meniscus were just age-related degeneration. Today he's fielding phone calls from people like Anitab up there but without the sweet attitude. As I recall he did get sent a basket of fruit or something. He was only allowed to be on Worker's Comp for 12 weeks, which was not nearly enough.

Carrie, That is nasty!
that's beautiful steven.
Looking good, Mr. Steve. Nice pic, too.
Andy P
Dave, it was all about the feet :))
Andy, the frozen brook picture was neat. Close to home, as in back yard?
Harper, I'm with you on turning the computer off. Trouble is, I am then off days to a week catching up on housework and it takes forever to catch up here!!
Carrie, What a thing to happen! I think they should have done something more than a fruit basket.
Stevenfaux, huge AND a gorgeous color!
(We,) as if I helped, set out the animal trap and blocked the door open. So far all but one feral has gone in to eat. Tuesday we will set the trap and take a cat to the Humane Society. We have 4 to catch and already took a tame one in.
This is Tommy Boy. Neutered, front declawed and starved. He had a funny tail. It was thin till the lion tuft at the end. He didn't jump on the table or the bench on the side porch, so he was well mannered. He didn't act like he was abused. I would have kept him myself if my two would have allowed it.
Billy, yes the frozen run-off was in my back yard. Here is the thread about it. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/693842/
It's kinda melted now so I'm glad I snapped when I saw it. Yet another reason to be happy Sidekick Sarah is here. Why else would I go out there in below zero wind chills. lol.
Andy P
I can't believe it froze so fast. Those are incredible pictures! I've never been good with a camera, but with the digital I've learned to get a picture before it's gone. No worries over wasted film.
That is amazing Andy.
Well, today, he got a commendatory note from his boss's boss for how well he was handling the customers. His boss was looking at him sideways 'cause HE didn't get no note!
Steven, what kind is that? My amaryllises have given me SO MUCH pleasure this winter.
xxx, Carrie
Thanks for posting the whole series in one place Andy, smiles, ~~Blooms
I'm not sure .please ask andy. He's the best at reminding me what kind it is. lol . hope you like it.
Steve, I think your Amaryllis is a 'Red Lion' but don't quote me on that. We could ask on the bulb forum.
The mother of that one has woken up and is sending 2 flower spikes up now. I'll take a shot of Big Mama tomorrow.
Andy P
way too cool - I had the same thing. Try getting ice melt now.....every store is still sold out!
Try the pet supply store Anita. Sometimes people don't think to get it there.
Nice Andy!! Two shoots in one. Send more pics when she blooms.
thanks sofonisba - I never would have thought of it...I'll try there the next time.
Has anyone seen this?

Eeek. Makes me want to check on the elderly lady across the street.
Hi Andy just got back from ice fishing . IT'S 3 below with the wind chiill factor today. Didn't catch anything but it was alot of fun meeting people out there.
Andy, It wasn't Anita's ex-boss, was it?
LOL Dave - she's a girl though. I heard that story and said it couldn't be. How could the electricity still be on? The news story made mention of it too---I'm guessing he was setup on auto payment. I wonder why the mail carrier didn't say anything? That is scary, though. That is always a fear of mine since I live alone. I wouldn't go a year, but over a weekend is upsetting enough. Or injured/unconscious.
My DH and I thought that was so sad that no one checked on him! He must of not had family close by or at all, but the neighbors just "assumed". That poor man.
One a different note, almost comical I might add....these are the Dahlia's I was told by DG member to store in peat moss. Well I followed his directions but my basement must of gotten to warm as this is what I found yesterday when I went to check on them!!!
