3rd Annual SO CAL RU MAY 19, 07

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I received a call from drdon this past weekend and he would like to sponsor another CA Roundup at his ranch inTemecula again. We have tossed around some dates and we have come up with May 19, 2007. Don would like to do this before the weather gets too hot and with all the holidays in May and June, this seems to be the best date so far.

He is still pretty busy at his ranch right now, but will be back occasionally to give us any information he would like to add. So far these are his plans:

He is going to set a theme this year with a “Mexican Fiesta”. He will be providing the meat for Carne Asada, etc. and we will bring all the goodies to go with this theme. Don will also provide water and shade again.

The time for this event will be 10am to 6pm. He is having dinner with friends, off the property, so we will need to be gone long before then. His dogs have asked him nicely to please tell every one that they don’t want any doggie company this year, so please don’t bring any pets with you.

We will start some threads for the food, plants and attendance pretty soon. This post was just to let everyone know that the 3rd Annual So Cal Round Up is being created for us to enjoy again.

I look forward to seeing many of you again and I hope that many of the new So.Calif.
members will consider attending this year. We have had some great times and have met some wonderful people. I have heard a little whispering about some of our northern members that might be attending also. Welcome to you all.

I have been looking forward to my first RU and will do my best to attend. FYI this is the same day as the Huntington Plant sale, but I will figure out a way to attend both.

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi there Lonny,

I don't think I have had the pleasure of talking with you on the forums yet.

I'm so glad that your considering attending our great get together in Temecula. We have had some wonderful times and have met some really nice people. I sure hope you can make it, as I look forward to meeting you too.

I would try to go to the plant sale first, then come on down from there. Once you get with these people, you don't want to leave. lol

How about you lurkers??? Are you thinking of coming? Give me some feedback to anything, ok?

Donna

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Hi Donna,
May sounds so much better...will have to see how things progress as I'm thinking of the Cabrillo sale the weekend before. July is definitely too hot. I'm amazed that drdon is going to go above and beyond again another year! I would have bet money against it...whatta guy!
Sherry

OH BOY! OH BOY!! OH BOY!!

I wouldn't miss this for all the tea in China...and I am a tea drinker!!

Don and Pam are the "Hosts with the most!" I encourage any of you that can...to BE THERE. Jo

I'm coming out again! See ya folks!
May 19 is pretty good at Huntington Botancial Garden Plants Sale I might go there and go to DrDon's Party!

See you forward,
Anna going on road trip to Calif in March and again in May, too!

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

You know that we will be there!! Fiona would stomp me to death if we could not come. The frog prince will have to stay at home though lol! Don't know what to do about plant trading. My gardens are pretty well decimated from the frost.

Pam and Don, thank you for your hospitality yet again.

With my dd's wedding the following weekend, I may or may not be able to go. Right now I'm thinking a nice sunny day at drdon's might be just what I'll need.

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

My gosh, look at all the out of towners that want to come this year. We look forward to seeing you and meeting all the new people.

How about you people that came last year, are you going to be able to come again this year? Please post here if your thinking of it, ok? I will been sending out dmail invitations again to many of the new people.

We will need some volunteers to help with a few things...name tags, food thread, plant trading, etc. Let me know if your willing to help, ok?

Donna

Crossville, TN

Please put me dodwn for name tags...I'll get the stick on kind....then run them through my printer for a design. Jo

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Orange, CA(Zone 10b)

zuzu, you're coming? I really have to make an effort to come, then.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

Yes, I'm definitely coming. I'd be so delighted to meet you, Quyen. Please do make the effort.

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh Zuzu, this is exciting!! I really look forward to meeting you finally. I know Jasperdale will be excited also. :-)

Quyen, I know you are such a busy gal on Saturdays, with your children, but hopefully you can tell them that May 6th is your day!! Hope you can make it again.

Donna

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I'll be there !!! Can't wait to meet Zuzu !!!

Crossville, TN

May 6th? She means May 19th folks....you do don't you Donna? Jo

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

YES May 19th folks!!! Sorry about that. ;-)

May 6th is my garden tour and I've been thinking about it all day today.

Thanks Jo for catching my error.
Donna

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10a)

I'm coming!!!!!

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Yay, kanita is coming again. Get your seeds ready everyone. lol
Will your brother be coming again too?

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Does that make 17 DGers so far? For most of us that have posted so far, it seems this will be our first time to DrDon's. Are the others that attended last year not coming? It will be easier for our host to plan this if we post a commitment early. Looks like it may be a very large gathering. Donna, you know you can give me any assignment you wish and I will follow through. As I will be flying in, I won't be able to bring anything from my garden in Iowa. I have mostly daylilies, iris, and lilies but they are too new to split this year. Love the Mexican theme! I appreciate no pets allowed as I was bitten by a dog at one of the Round-Ups I attended.

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10a)

I was there last year and can't wait to go back this year. It was the best time!

Crossville, TN

We'll start seeing more people adding their names as they find this thread....I think Donna is planning a "D-mail" campaign. Jo

Jasper Co., MO(Zone 6b)

FYI:

Huntington Botanical Plants Sale is right on Mother's Day so it week way before. (May 13, 2007). I will be coming out and find motel that area. I know there is no motel in Temecula I wonder to know there is nearby upper on I-15. Murrieta.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I have never been, I sign up in July and it sounds great, plus before the Boom in Temecula, I use to beg my X to move there, I love it so I can`t imagine a better place to have one. I have my son`s birthday and my anniversary the next week so the date looks good. Just tell me what to do? Twin Lakes and Weegy I hope you do go so I can meet you, I`ve talked to you enough. Gypsy, I look forward to meeting you and I will try not to talk your head off so you can hear yourself think, lol .

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Dawn,
You'll have such a great time!! Truly, this is a good bunch of people.
Sherry

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Not too worry, H . . . I always have strapping tape along

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Is that to tape my mouth?

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Dawn, you'll have lots and lots of people to talk to! Nobody would dare tape your mouth...you have too many interesting things to say!

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

LOL

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

We can tape anything you find interesting to tape. Last trip I found a roll in my suitcase and left it in Ca. It came in very handy. . .

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Is that a threat miss? lol You know what I want to tape, don`t you? I should make my famous fajitas. hmm I don`t know if it would be more fun to go with DH or leave him? If I take him can I borrow the tape?

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

I'll be there, Donna. I really wanted to bring stuff this year, but like Frogs said, everything fall down and go boom with the frost. :-(
