Texas Statewide Roundup April 28, 2007-TRADES

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks Sandy....that would be great. I am trying to get more butterfly attractants in the garden, and that would be perfect. I finished soaking and spraying a bunch of things outside, crossing fingers the little (beepity beep beep) bugs die and stay dead. Lol...

:) Kim

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

This year has too many bugs. We are having alot of rain. I will not complain as later we will be crying for it.

Got you covered Kim. Blasy them little bugs. I am having a hech of a time with snails. one year it was slugs now snails. I caught one eating one of my amaryllis blooms. Too bad they aren't afraid of heights. GRRRR!
I throw them in the street ands when I hear them hit I tell them I hope they get a headache. Will teach them to mess with me.

Waco, TX(Zone 8b)

I am having the same problem here as well with the snall Sandy. I also do the same thing to them when I find them. I throw them high into the air and let them hit the street. I then hope that some bird will find them.

Sandy I will trade you for some Crocosmia, Parrot Lily, Miniature Climbing Rose, Purple Heart. If that is alright?

Clayton

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Sandy, I'm glad you're feeling better. You make me laugh.:)

Kim, I had some kind of bugs eating my salvias in the gh this year and it seemed to be only the salvias. I didn't notice that last year. Last year I had mealy bugs because of the angel wing begonia I had in the gh. They chewed up my hibiscus too, but this year I got rid of the begonia and lo and behold, no more mealy bugs. So no more angel wing begonias.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Sandy, I would love to have some parrot lilies, Mexican bluebells, cape honeysuckle, and a miniature climbing rose.
Thanks,
Patricia

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, I forgot I have Gold Flame honeysuckle cuttings also.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

You got it Pat.

Waco, TX(Zone 8b)

Mary Lee, I will trade you 2 corkscrew vine seedlings for 1 of each of you orich cactus.

Clayton

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

It's a deal Clayton.:)

Waco, TX(Zone 8b)

Mary Lee, I forgot you wanted some of the crinums bulbs. I will bring some for you.

Clayton

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Yea....I have been frustrated with the seedlings....some are growing really well, and others aren't really growing at all. As I said before, I think I bit off more than I could chew this spring. I am sure they just need to be potted up and given some fertilizer. I am hoping to do this over the weekend as well, but only so much time before the family arrives on Tuesday. Good news though, my parents are planning on coming to the roundup as well!

:) Kim

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, good Kim. I was hoping to be able to meet them.

Thanks Clayton for the crinums. Should I bring a pot for them?

Waco, TX(Zone 8b)

I can bag them up for you

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Will they be OK in the bag til Sun or Mon?

Waco, TX(Zone 8b)

Kim, do I need to bring anything like chairs, table to set my plants on that I am bringing. I have never been to one of these gathering before, so I really don't know what to expect

Clayton.

Waco, TX(Zone 8b)

Maybe not a plastic bag. I will see if I have a paper bag.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

The pavilion has tables with seating in it, so no need for tables or chairs. If you would like to bring a dish to share, that would be great.

:) Kim

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Lurking since I can't be there this year, but Clayton, here is a picture of the facility it even has restrooms and full kitchen behind the wall. It is only 30 feet or so from the parking lot and has a ramp too. It is a fantastic place to meet.
Hope everyone enjoys the RU, I will be thinking of you and wishing I were there.

Awww, Sheila.. I'm sorry you aren't going to be there. I guess the "I'm not CJ" shirt can wait until the next one. ;-)

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes please hold on to them Marylyn! LOL!
I have a date for back surgery this Monday and will only be out of the hospital about a week when the RU comes around. So it just isn't possible this year. I was definately wanting to go.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

So, after this surgery you'll have both sides taken care of. You don't have another side that we don't know about do you?:)

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Bummer, Sheila, but I am hoping this surgery will take care of the problems. Hope to see you at a RU soon.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

ROFLOL!! No Silver, but there is further up or further down so the Dr said. No guarantee. Thanks Pat, I will miss everyone.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

I ditto that bummer, Sheila! We will miss you. Check back in with us as soon as you can and let us know you're OK. Marylyn - maybe this fall, eh? Hey! Maybe I should wear a shirt saying I'm Sheila, and really screw things up. LOL!!!

Clayton - look at my list and see if there is anything that you would like. No trade necessary. I'm looking forward to meeting you! http://davesgarden.com/forums/p.php?pid=3173387

Gotcha, Clayton!

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia, I guess I started a tradition. Last spring it was me that lost my list.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

No problem Sylvia! You were giving me Lady Banks rose for mom, agapanthus, sedum, and I was bringing you epi cuttings and ditch lilies.

:) Kim

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia, you are bringing me agapanthus, and I'm bringing you liatris mucronata. (The 'Striptease' hosta you gave me last fall is looking so pretty and growing fast. I love it!)

Sylvia, I'm bringing chives/onions and Mother of thyme. I'll have lots of extras of each too for whoever.

Also I'll have a variegated hydrangea and a wax leaf privet.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Clayton, may I have some salvia?

Waco, TX(Zone 8b)

Marylyn, I will go outside dig and pot some up for you right now.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Thank you! :-)

Dallas, TX

Thanks Guys ... luv ya! :)
Kim I will be glad when I get it to you, I was kind of worried it might be a goner ... but its sending up a shoots
Marylee are you bringinh me a Hydrangea? Awsome! What color? I need to reserve a spot for it in my Hosta garden.
Pat you want another Hosta?

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia, it's not nice to tempt a hosta addict! Of course I want another (and another, and another). But only if I have something on my list that you can use. I still have a couple of your markers that the Ross Street gang dropped in the floor of my trailer. I will bring them to the RU in case they will help you ID your hostas that are missing tags.

Dallas, TX

I sure would love to have them. I am going crazy trying to figure out what's what! Pat when are you coming to Dallas again? I want you to see the back yard ... its going top be beautiful next year. I sure wish I could get you guys over again ... now that I am not hurting, I can entertain. :)

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Well, would any one like some Lady's Slipper(Pedlanthus)? or some Pink Buttons (Polygonum)?

Sylvia, how about May 4 or 5th? Are you busy then?

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Smockette, I would love to have a start of your pink buttons.
Thanks, Patricia

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia, I have you down for a hydrangea. Would you happen to have any Honeybells or Aphrodite hostas to trade? Since I found that plantagenea (sp?) hostas are the ones that smell good and also grow well in the south, I have become very interested in them. Especially since I know they don't have to go in the gh.:)
