Boy, that Jack is cute.

Oh, yeah, Big Brother is very much alive and well in the USA. I like DG, though and I choose to believe the administrators are more like us. Don't pop my bubble. I still want to know what you were going to say... dmail, here I come.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

ginger, I like your pond. do you have a problem with any large birds coming and having lunch on your goldfish? we have great blue heron here that make it a challenge to keep fish. although with a very large furry jackfish in the middle of the pond, I suspect the heron would stay clear LOL

ps I want to know what you said, too. If the Admin folks didn't block stuff a lot of people would get offended and leave.

No gram, The pond is 4' deep at one end.
Plenty of room to hide.
There are also logs and stuff for protection.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

It's very nice. Makes me want a pond. Is it necessary to have a filter or a fountain in one of those little ponds?

Harper

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

It all depends on the amount of fish you have in the pond.
To many fish and you have to supliment.
Floating plants will also help to airate the water.
This is with the Water Fall on. Fish love moving water.

Kell, that's gorgeous! Were those wonderful red boulders there or did you have them hauled in? I love rocks. A water feature similar to that is in our long-term plans. maybe even '08, but not this year.

Are the sheep neighbors of yours?

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

All the rocks were bought from a local nursery.
The sheep are next doors.
They have about 60 Black sheep.
All the local Craft shops buy the wool for spinning.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Wow, that's really beautiful ginger.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Amazing! I would love to have a pond...eventually...

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I want a pond - well considering the size of my yard . . . I want a big puddle.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Kell, that is really nice! I have a pond too. About 700 gallons. Only 2&1/2 ft deep at it's deepest. This summer, out of nowhere, a great blue heron came to my little pond and ate most of my fish.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Fickle Finger of Fate.

It was not meant to be .
Your water was just not deep enough.
I put glass bowls upside down an bricks .
Gives the fish somewhere to shelter.
And you can`t see them. [glass]

As this is the daily Daily AMusings.

I`LL just amuse myself by posting a few PIC`s.

These mangoes fell off the mango tree last night,
So I thought I would show you all how we prepare them for a desert platter.

Once you cut through to the skin ,
You turn them inside out.
Not bad for a beginner .
I`m telling you, it tasted fantastic.
Even the bruised bit where it hit the ground.

looks good! You have summer now, right Ginger? How bad are your winters?

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Hi Anitabryk2,
It is the middle of our summer.
And our winters are very mild.
Ideal Garden Temperatures.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I like mango.

Don't know if I could take the heat there Kell. 80f is hot for me.

A little like winter here now.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Kell, what a neat way to serve it. I've never had mango. Not that we can't buy it here, but there's nothing like having a fresh piece of fruit right off the tree. How marvelous!

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Al, I was born in Denmark and am no stranger to the cold.
We left DK when I was 9 yo.
When it`s cold one can rug up.
But when it`s hot ,
There is only so much you can take off.

A pool is always nice but you can`t garden in it.
I do so miss walking in the snow.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ginger, are you sure you miss this??

If that pointy thing in the foreground
Is the top of your roof ?
Then my answer to you`r question is NO.
But if it`s a garden ornament then yes. I do miss it.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

The pointy thing is the top of the bird feeder. LOL
Here's what it looked like the day before at the same time of day. We had white-out conditions in the post above.

Hey pixie62560
I`ll swop you a Wild Deer for 6 of my Wild birds ?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh ginger! Thats too cool!! Beautiful birds!!!!!!!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Those are WILD birds??? How cool is that?!

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Yes they are Anitabryk2,
Here you can see a Scrub turkey eyeing off my camera.
He is in the back. He wants to be a star.

Are those macaws? Our most common birds are from from Europe.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

bigcityal
Those are King Parrots on the park bench.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Guess I hadn't seen those colors on parrots here. We went to a small zoo that had quite a few last summer. Do you have crows and starlings in your zoos.LOL

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Kell, the parrots are spectacular. they seem quite fond of you. I take it they are regular visitors at your feeder?

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Bigcityal, Yes we do have crows and starlings.
But not at the zoos.
They roam free all the time .
Crows have lived here forever.
Starlings are an introduced pest. [from Europe]
The crows are our Vultures.
Meaning they clean up everything.
Road kill, dead farm animals, Etc. Etc.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

grampapa, That`s not moi.
I was at our local tourist Trap,
and I was taking Pics To post to you good folk.
This was some Dutch tourist who didn`t mind me taking his picture.
He and his sons are actually in about 20 pics.
I don`t get these parrots here at home.
I mainly get the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I LOVE mango! Oh, and that one looks just perfect. I can just taste it melting in my mouth... you lucky stiff. I actually saw Martha Stewart cut a mango like that. She must've got that idea from you Ozzies. Cool parrots!

Pixie, that white out is beautiful. We still haven't had snow yet. It feels like we never will. They say it's supposed to be cold this upcoming week.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Hello everyone old and new! This thread is the most fun one to catch up on. Everyone has such a good sense of humor.

Loved all the dog pictures! Jack has a sense of humor too.

Andy, where DID you get the kitten/gun photo. I love it!!!

My store bought mango tasted like kerosene. I don't think they sell truly ripe ones here. I buy it canned now and again.

The parrots are gorgeous! Starlings seem to be pests the world over!

I'm glad no one has had power outages from the storm. I thought about everyone while I was off these last few days. We only got a thin layer of sleet and 1 1/2'' of snow. The sun came out today and melted some of it.

No pictures of the one large icicle we have. (Steel roofs make the longest most dangerous ones!) DD has the camera recovering some of the lost pictures from the camera card. Yay!

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

I hear kerosene makes a good preservative ?
Maybe the importers inject them to keep them longer ?
Here, We rub kerosene on sun spots and walla! 2 to 3 weeks later, GONE.

Hi billyporter, I`m Kell, Glad to meet you.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

"Starlings are introduced pests from Europe"
So are we. Kell too.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Don't get me started on Starlings. They are the reason we rarely see the native Bluebird any more.
Billy, the cat/gun pic was in with a few cute pet pics I got in an e-mail.
Here is another.

I got the same emails, save alot of the cute little pictures.
Here's one I like...

Hi Kell! It's been fun knowing you already! Interesting kerosene fact. When my Mom was little and broke her little finger, she ran around for 3 days with it stuck in a tin can full of kerosene. It healed crooked over.

I just love those pictures!

Our bluebirds seem to be making a comeback. I've actually had them look at the wren and bluebird houses, but here, the sparrows make their life miserable and they retreat to the country. Outside of town there is a dirt road. It had shrubby undergrowth, trees and bluebirds, till some farmer decided to cut most of it out.
