Young Frankenstein was definitely one of those classic iconic movies. Monty Python's Holy Grail was another.....run away!
Coffee, Latte or Tea?
"Run Away! Run Away!" He he he
"Put ze candle Back!"
Someone told me that "Blucher" meant 'glue' in German and that's why the horses whinny.
Yup, love 'em all. We just watched Young Frankenstein this weekend, so Peter Boyle was fresh in everyone's minds when we found out he died. Poor guy.
Al, you went to Spencer's? You're so hip! It's okay. I'll find my Simpson's memorabilia. No, it wasn't Don Rickles. He was a very large, tall man with a round face. He sometimes played baby or toddler acts... who was he? Now I'm going to have to find out before it drives me nuts.

Art Linkletter??
We were talking about Peter Boyle with a few friends tonight. I was surprised that other people also remembered him from the 1970 movie "Joe". It was the first time I ever saw him. He played a character who was like Archie Bunker before Archie Bunker existed. Great job. He was also in Taxi Driver.
Harper I think I know who you mean but can't put a name to the face. I'll bet DH will know. I'll check with him.
Harper,
Are you thinking Harvey Korman? He palyed on the Carol Burnette show for a long time.
Or maybe Tim Conway??

Or could it be Mel Blank? Jack Benny? Ok.....i'm dating myself here!!!
Jonathan Winters??
Good one Dave..had forgot about him!
Didn't he portray Maude Frickett?
I'm putting my money on Harvey Korman from that list.
****I wonder what the prize is*****
A dahlia?
Pirl you are right! he did play Maude Frickett.
The only other one I can think of is Rich Little.

Harper!
We are all atwitter with anticipation! Did we get it yet? And what is the prize? ;~)
It was Johnathan Winters!!!! Yay!!! Nice going Dave. Sorry. I can't think of a prize.

I seem to recall him as a baby a few times. He was great in Mork and Mindy.
He was the baby born of the huge egg, right?
Okay people I hate to do this but just about all those people you mentioned ARE before my time LOL LOL I am totally lost in this last part of the discussion LOL
You're lost and Dave's not, sounds scary alright.
Pirl - that sounds familiar, but I can't remember.
Dawn, It's not nice to gloat! Remember, Santa is watching.;^)
Pirl, I thought the egg was Mork's spaceship. Robin Williams idolized Jonathan Winters so I'm sure it was a great treat to him to have him on his show. I believe the much older JW played RW's son.
pirl, yep, that was the story. on planet Ork they were born old from a huge egg and got younger. everything was backwards. Jonathan Winters was a very funny man and that's one of the last things I remember him in. Looked a little like Tweedledum/Tweedledee.
Dawn, sorry to leave you out. pirl and I are old school, Dave's not far behind. Mork & Mindy was one of the first things Robin Williams did.
Wow! Gram are you also an Orkan historian!! I continue to be amazed!
He was the Ork from Mork! Loved that show!
Dawn - be happy to be too young!
wow- I'm busy for a bit and look what happens with you guys!
Nanoo, nanoo ;0) sorry, trying not to amaze you Dave, but I just can't help myself LOL. I'm just a TV addict from the '50s. Mork did travel in an egg, Dave, but it was a different egg? anything else you'd like to know? Robin did a guest shot on Happy Days as Mork and this was a spin off as a result of that...ok, I'm done. loved that show
Me, too, gram!!!
Pirl, he was Mork from Ork, silly! I loved that show! I'm 38 and feel very young, yet I remember all those old comedians. Dawn, how old are you? Silly girl. You're missing out!
Gram, even though I dared not miss one single episode of Mork and Mindy, so much has happened between then and now. How do you keep that stuff so fresh in your memory? That part of my brain is rusty and covered in cobwebs, LOL!!

I was watching Biography's show on Robin Williams. That was in his drug usage heyday. They made mention that half of the show's filming was done with Robin being higher than a kite.
Oprah has said that Robin Williams is her favorite person to interview because of his unpredictability. I like him regardless of any possible failings in the past.
You're right, Sofonisba, Mork from Ork. My brain is as scrambled as Ork eggs.
I had heard he had drug problems back then.
I love him too regardless of his failings. We all slip and fall, don't we?
The Golden Rule applies again, as it always has.
Surprisingly, to him as well, he's just as funny off the drugs as he was on.
Harper, you will find as you get older that it's much easier to remember things from 20 or 30 years ago than it is from 20 or 30 minutes ago LOL I have a brain like a steel trap. but these days it's hard to get things out ;0) fly...be free (Mork talking to the eggs in the fridge as he tosses them in the air)
Oh my goodness! I hadn't thought of that Mork line in over 10 years! Thanks so much, gram.
you're welcome, pirl. it always gave me a chuckle.
I agree - regardless of his previous shortcomings, I believe the man has a heart of gold! His generosity is endless. He is definitely on my top 10 list.
Although I did watch Mork and Mindy when it first ran, I can't recall it quite as well as Gram. Way to go granny. I do recall Jonathon Winters making appearances on Letterman early on.
Jonathan Winters was a big star in the 50s & 60s (It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World [I think]). His mental health problems took him out of the spotlight for a long time. Mork was kind of a new start for him.
Robin just got out of rehab about amonth ago (again). It's a tough disease. One of my favorite RW lines is "Cocaine is God's way of telling you that you have too much money"
Gram may be a cyborg.
or maybe I just came from Ork in an egg...you'll never know
it's interesting that a lot of comedians are pretty close to the edge, if not already way far over. I looked at JW web site. He paints and has written a book. Creative minds find a lot of ways to express themselves.
You would almost think a lot of comedians are manic to be that crazy - funny is what I mean. I find with Robin he is so hyper - almost like he has ADD or something. The guy always has ants in his pants. I have always enjoyed his sense of humour though. He is a gift isn't he.
I think Winters is bi-polar. Wouldn't be too surprised if Williams was too, (or ADD). I always thought that the notion of Robin Williams on cocaine was redundant.
I think Gram is right about creative minds (Wintrers, Williams, Richard Pryor, Bigcityal) but there are excetions. People like Tom Hanks, Billy Crystal, Jon Stewart and Anitabryk2 seem pretty grounded.
