Coffee, Latte or Tea?

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Well, the last one was getting a bit long and I wasn't sure if anyone had dial up.

I was so busy this weekend. I made no plans with anyone and spent the day putting all the items that had been packed up for the renovation into their new homes. I even got the small Christmas tree up. Now it's time to go out and put the lights in the bushes by the front window.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Whew! I'm tired and I didn't do nearly all that. I had 2 big trees to decorate (7.5 & 5.5') and a bunch of little ones to finish and put where they belong. Gotta get that done so I can start cookies next weekend. My son is in charge of the outside stuff. He doesn't like doing it but I don't ask him for much so he reluctantly drags his butt over here and puts up the stuff for me. DH can't stand for more than a minute or 2, but if I get him a box of ornaments, he unpacks while I hang them. we had a nice afternoon, reminiscing about the ornaments while we did the decorating. you can pack up a lot of memories in a box of Christmas stuff :0)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

You 2 are making me tired! I spent the afternoon w/the granbabies, making coloring pages out of pictures of Romeo. My Kodak has a program to turn any photo into a colorbook photo, so we have fun with it. Here's one of Romeo Hunter did to color. Not bad considering she's 7.

Gram ~ I know what you mean about memories and ornaments....I have some that are older than me. Nobody wanted them because they were worn in spots ect., so I took them because those worn out spots are from my Mom & Dad. It's where their hands were as they touched them year after year for over 48 years. I don't know the history to all of them, but some are from their first years of marriage. Thats worth more than any new ornament could ever be.

We are just finishing up our tree now!
Took my 7 yr old to his first Uconn basketball game today. It was everything I hoped for! He even asked if he could save the ticket stubs! Then the parking stub!
What a day!!!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Dave, you're having all kinds of 'moments' with your kids lately. it's really great. that's really cute that he wanted to save the parking stub.

Pixie, you do the best stuff with the girls. that sounds like fun. do you let Romeo judge the pictures afterward LOL?

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Pixie, I think that's a great idea, turning your own photos into sketches for coloring. You could make a very nice little coloring book full of family members and pets. That picture turned out really well!

Dave, that is so sweet! A sentimental seven year old. I hope he never changes. You're a nice Dad.

Wow, gram, two trees?? I commend you. That's a lot of work. But you have made it an enjoyable, memorable family project. Were you playing Christmas carols too?

I have to leave this thread for awhile. I'm turning to mush.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Where are all the days going??? I just got home and feel like I should go to bed. I'm also ticked off at my landscaper as he still hasn't come a taken all the leaves away!!! I've called him twice already and he has yet to call me back. He's my neighbor's cousin, so I think I'll try to get a hold of Clint and ask what's up with him!

I think our cookie day will be next Sunday. I usually bake them with the girls and my SIL.

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Poinsettias have arrived at the places where I water plants. My yearly nemesis. I hate them. except for someone else's that I don't have to water. My boss has a new system for keeping them evenly watered that involves the water retention crystals that you put in window boxes. System is on trial since last week. Seems to be working. I am cautiously optimistic. I am taking care of about 100 or so in various companies.
Martha

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Martha, you have my sympathies and confidence. : )

Okay, everyone's got their trees up but me! Whaaaa! I don't even have decorations up yet. I feel so behind! LOL

Harper

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Harper,
No tree or decorations here yet so your not alone. I never put my tree up before the 10th, I get a real tree and it looks like crap on Christmas if I put it up to soon. I have been digging the boxes of Christmas stuff out, going through what I will use this year and what I need new! LOL Bought 200 new lights and 5 new ornaments yesterday, 400 new lights last year so I think i'll be all set.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I have a 9" tall tree that has a battery pack for the lights . . . somewhere. I'm sure I'll find it when I am looking for something next summer . . . LOL

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

9 feet or 9 inches?? If it's the latter, I bet it looks real cute on a work desk! I've only done the outside lights and the little tree in the living room. I still haven't dug out the other decorations. I just don't have the oomph to do it when I get home during the week. So it will have to wait until the weekend.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Hi guys!!! how you wonderful people doing??? No Xtmas trees yet... I am fooling around instead of studying Psych Nursing! my sisters will take care of this...

Dave, I am glad you had a great time with your son... I think those are the precious memories that will always be worth remembering! I can't wait until my nephew Victor (3 years old) arrive so I can play with him also... I have a 5 years old nephew (Alec) and he is so precious... yesterday he completly made my day... I was robed on monday at work and when I got home last night he rushed to meet me with his money box. He told me" Alec has "mooney"... so I asked him who gave you moooney? and he told me his brother and mom... and he told me "Kaka has no money. Mommy told grandma bad person got Kaka moooney... but Alec give Kaka moooney" I grabbed him and started crying... and he told me "no, no, no ... Alec give Kaka mooney" how can you not love that boy!!!!
I need to build good memories for these boys... and it's my chance to play with boys... I want to build a tree house for them next year... big enough so Lilly and I can also go in ... I am getting both of them cute sleeping bags and a tent so we can camp in front of the den's fireplace... Alec and I drink hot chocolate and eat cookies and get a fire going... I love this moments... so special... that's what is all about is it not????

I want to start cookies this weekend. I hardly ever bake cookies any more except at holiday time. I love to bake.

Martha, sorry about the poinsettias. I don't think I'd like them if I had your job either

gram

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Gram, I don't think you have enough Christmas Spirit - I think you need to have a few more trees! I loved the pink feather tree! What a hoot!!!! Santa surfing!!! You must have a huge attic for storage!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Believe it or not, I keep it all in the walk-in closet off my master bedroom, except for the 2 big trees. just got done decorating my office 'cube' yesterday. If I remember to get pics next week I'll post some. Oh, did I mention I LOVE Christmas?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Wow gram! When do you start setting them up, labor day??
Thanks Kass and sorry about your being robbed. Were you threatened by the crook?
That is one sweet nephew you have.

There is nothing like a child's love to make me feel whole again on a bad day!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I agree with you Dave - they do have a way of warming the heart!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Day after Thanksgiving, Dave. granddaughters help some. That's not all of them, though. and I do need more. They're getting crowded LOL

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Kassia ~ I'm so sorry that happened to you! What a sweet, sweet boy he is to offer his money. I hope Santa is extra good to him this year, he certainly deserves it!!!

Andy ~ Hope your feeling better and i'm positive you will have that new PC running better than the old one is no time!

Gram ~ WOW! Beautiful trees and ornaments! I think Santa married the wrong women!!!!!
I too love Christmas, giving is my favorite part. (grin) Can't tell you how good it makes me feel to make someones day!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

It is so good to hear that so many people enjoy giving. I'm very willing to help make any or all of you feel that warm glow! ;)

Duh!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Tha is SOOOOO Al!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

As Gorilla Monsoon would say " I resemble that remark"

the kids pretty much did the tree this year, boy is this a hard photo to take well

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Doh! (Dave, get it right LOL) Al, that's a good one !! we love Homer, but with the vicious winds we have here, anything that blows up pretty much needs constant monitoring. some of the neighbors have them, but half the time they're down. but I have most of the cast of my tree, smithers, Mr burns, milhouse, ned flanders, nelson, the entire Simpson family including Santa's little helper, but none of the snowballs.

ps that sneaky pixie sure made my day a couple of days ago. never know what she's going to be up to.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Not that weiner Milhouse ;)
I have a few ornaments of them, Homer stays up well - heavy snow brings him down temporarily.

(Zone 4a)

Oh gosh you guys have me laughing so hard!!! I just love reading these posts. Glad to see everyone is getting into the spirit of things :) Love the Homer LOL Although I think I will stick to my lighted reindeer and bushes hehehe. Well everything here has been decorated now for a few weeks - inside and out. That is what happens when you have impatient kids. Oh well good thing I LOVE Christmas!

Funny thing that happened to us tonight. We took the girls to see the festival of lights and then to end the night off for a fun Saturday night we decided to take the girls through a drive thru car wash ha! I said I hope everyone has their windows up. I guess my 4 yr old misunderstood and rolled her window down slightly. When all this water started pouring in we were all yelling LOL LOL It was funny - I guess you just had to be there! Hahaha. Ahhhh the joys of young kids eh?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Hi Dawn - you know I never did look at a map to see how far into Canada your were. Were you like zone 4 or 5 then?
anyway - kids like the carwash for sure

"you don't know where you are going if you don't know where you have been" I think that applied mainly to horseback riding

Doh! Of course!
So Gram, is one of your many trees a Simpson's tree?
You really are full of interesting surprises.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Well, Dave, I'm full of something ;0) not enough Simpsons for a whole tree. I have done a cartoon tree other years, though. but not this year. they're just kind of mixed in. I have South Park, too. And just got Brian, the dog from Family Guy.

Al, don't pick on Milhouse. he's Bart's only friend lol

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I love Brian - you got me there.

Gram - I was going to say when I was going throught the photo contest I spotted your nutsedge - ha ha

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Gram, Gardening, rose gardening, computers, painting, "adult" cartoons, do your talents never end??

(Seriously, I become more & more impressed.)

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Heeeere's Brian! this one just cracked me up.

Al, that pic of my nutsedge was an excellent shot. I should have entered it in perennials... I'm sure it will be back next year LOL

Dave, don't be too impressed. I'm also very crabby and a bit of a know-it-all. my aunt used to campare with Lucy (from Peanuts) :0)

bigcityal I am a zone 4 I believe. Sudbury is about a 4-5 hour ride NW from Toronto.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Al, yes, I do watch the shows. why the skepticism? I'm getting a little nervous about you though. the next time we see the bigcity kids they may have haircuts that look like this ^^^^^

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I was told not to trust anyone over 40

Quoting:
I'm getting a little nervous about you though
Oddly, I have never heard that before.

Actually my daughter had about a year where her hair stood straight up.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

and exactly how much Duff beer do you average a week, Al?
