November BINGO, let the game begin!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Here are some baby pictures.... You can see a little of the variegation (little plantlets on the right) that wasn't there on my parent plant. The parent plant was another vacation casualty, so I'm crossing my fingers for these leaf babies!

Biscayne Trail

Lindenhurst, NY

HI Critterologist. How are you? I haven't been around much the past week, but I"m here looking at all of your pics and loving them. I love the white one, sparkles. Very pretty. So far I've got 5, not too good but it's fun. Even if I win, I would share it with another because I have no more room for leaves or plants and if I bring any more leaf babies into work and put on my desk my boss is going to start questioning me :-)

3:49, you were up in the middle of the night??

Have a great day
Maureen

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Yeah, unfortunately insomnia has reared its head this week... hopefully getting too little sleep won't slow me down too much today... plants to see! AVs to swap!! :-)

LOL at leaf pots on your desk at work -- way to go!

No, it's not Biscayne Trail.... but it is a trailer. ;-)

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Grand Forks, BC(Zone 5b)

How about "Silly Girl"?

Red Oak, NC(Zone 7b)

I'm with cedar, that is the same pic of Skagit Victory Trails.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

*blushing*

Oh, dear.

I'm so sorry for the confusion... If you scroll up to November 6, yes indeed, there it is... Skagit Victory Trails.... exactly the same photo and everything. I need more sleep.

I will immediately post two more calls (and I will preview to double check my photo this time), and then I will give myself 30 lashes with a wet noodle.

I will now roll the dice again. :-)

Our first real Saturday call is....

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

The second (real) call for today is the other one on the list with mosaic variegation. It shapes so nicely as it grows, and I just can't get over the bright leaves... Those tips just make the blooms pop! This one is hot! ;-)

Rob's Bunny Hop for the first one

Emporia, KS(Zone 5b)

Raspberry Sizzle for the next

Emporia, KS(Zone 5b)

so how exactly does a lash from a wet noodle feel like?? ; )

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Right both times! You're smokin'!

Oh, and Nancy gets a point for recognizing the reposted picture...

Somebody just Dmailed me to ask a question I hadn't considered, that being whether or not it was allowed to make a second guess at the ID. With as many players as we have, maybe we do need a rule... how about... One guess per person, but you are allowed to change your answer before I've said whether or not it's correct, and if it seems to be one that nobody is getting right then I'll post something like, "anybody want to make a second guess?"

Just wanted to insert a comment here that Snowrose, Keyi, and I spent the afternoon at Nannanavarro's home and had a fabulous time! What fun to have a local gathering of DG Gessie enthusiasts! We swapped plants, had a wonderful lunch, and chatted nonstop for hours... Special thanks to to Nanna for hosting, to Ki for organizing, and to Snow for giving me a ride down from Frederick! :-D

Hope everyone is all set to have an enjoyable Saturday night!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

CJ, I will find out shortly... we are cooking spaghetti for dinner....

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Poking my head in to say what a nice day we had. Perfect weather, nanna's lovely home, wonderful to meet everyone and talk, good food, plants, plants, plants, and oh did I mention plants? Great company on the ride down and back. All around good time.

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Wasn't home afternoon.Looks like this has been a busy place : ).Thanks for giving me credit Critter : ) No lashing necessary : ) That sounds like a Great New Rule for the game too. CJ gets 2 right again!!.Good Job CJ. : ) I got 1 on my card today! : )

Emporia, KS(Zone 5b)

Thanks- you too, Cedar. This would be a really fun game even without the added incentive but there might not be as many players. lol ; )

Ooooooooohhh...I bet you all had so much fun at nannanavarro's...that's not fair. lol Nannana- I thought a while back you were talking about moving (weren't you saying you were tired of crazy DG gessie lovers in Maryland--haha just kidding). Is that still something you're thinking of?

I might not see you guys again tomorrow. Chris has been doing MUCH better after that first day *whew* but I'll be out of town for a good part of the day.

Critter, I realize cedarnest excused you from the wet noodle lashing but I'd still like to see it. But only because you live so close to so many gessie lovers (do you detect a tad bit of jealousy??). lol jk

See all of you later!
Cheryl

Veteran's Day Bonus Call!

:-)

It still hasn't bloomed for me, but this plant has started branching and filling in beautifully.

I'm heading to bed early tonight, may not confirm this ID until tomorrow. Good night, all!

Champagne Pink!!!!

Emporia, KS(Zone 5b)

I agree with you Cedar, but just in case...lol...I'll choose Grape Slush.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Well, I'll grant that Grape Slush does have variegated leaves, but other than that....

Yes, it's Champagne Pink. :-)

It's been a relatively slow grower for me, but that cream and pink foliage just charms me every time I look at it.

Here's the same plant 6 months earlier, after I'd removed a crown cutting to encourage it to branch:

Yippy!!I got another one...but not on my card.Thats amazing how it really filled out so pretty after you removed that crown cutting.I just adore the foliage varigation on it.Makes it look pretty to look at even without blooms : )

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

WHAT...no calls today....hmmmm?

(Zone 1)

I have 7 !

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

WOW, that's great!!!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Janet, I did say the calls would be at *random* times, LOL! My grandmother used to tell me that patience is a virtue... ;-)

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

My grandson told me that when he was four...LOL...I was fussing about traffic and he told me I needed patience!!! LOL You know I was just kidding you....I am just antsy today...want to PLANT something in the dirt that will grow on the porch without me worrying over it...hmmm...miracle plants? I have things I could plant outside...and it is pretty, but my back and body are not helping me in that direction...so I am just sitting and thinking about DOING something...I just hate that! Hmmmmm...patience..huh?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I was just teasing you back... I have some lovely leaves & cuttings to put down after out gathering yesterday, so that will be my "play in the dirt" for this afternoon when DH goes in to work for a couple of hours.

OK! Here's the next call. This is one that I propagated and gave to my neice in Boston for her birthday. It was blooming, and I put it into one of those cute little Dandy pots. She carried it around and around, admiring it and making funny faces at it because she said the flower kept making faces back at her. What a goof!

This is a "first bloom" photo that I thought showed the flower color best. Let's see if anybody else thinks it's making funny faces...

Is it Silly Girl?? : )

Edited to say: I think I just saw her stick her tongue out at me : )

Red Oak, NC(Zone 7b)

I agree with cedar again. Silly Girl. I like em silly! Hehe!

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I think it is too....very cute! I love them all, I just love all of the pictures we are getting to see, makes it soooo much fun....of course I am terrible at guessing what it is, I start looking and get more confused than ever...LOL

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

LOL, Nancy, that's just what my niece said! You both have vivid imaginations... such silly girls! ;-)

From what I've read, "girl" foliage gets its name because it was first associated with a series of newly hybridized AVs with "girl" in the name. The foliage is somewhat cupped, often ruffled, and characterized by serrated edges and a lighter coloration in the center toward the base of the leaf. Girl leafed plants can be a little tricky to grow well-shaped, as the leaves tend to twist and curl. With some varieties, it seems to help to remove every other row of leaves so the plant doesn't turn into a tight little ball. Because of this, I think I'm starting to prefer the girl foliage trailers, which can grow as wildly as they please...

In this photo, the camera did one of those funky things and the blooms came out a little more lavender than they actually are... The first photo is more true to the color of the blooms... but I couldn't resist showing all these big blooms on this little plant!

Oh my goodness... that is really alot of blooms for such a little plant!! So Very Pretty! : )

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I think I am falling for the trailers period...I love that they can get so big and have so many blooms all at one time!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

(Second Sunday Call)

Here's one that's not a trailer.... and yet I totally fell for it when it bloomed like this, soon after its arrival.

Here's another look at it in bloom last winter...
