November BINGO, let the game begin!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Good morning!

Here's a sweetheart of a plant that I gave to my niece for her birthday...

It was a fun one to grow! The leaf put up ears in front...

... and it also put up ears behind!

Look at the variegation on these leaf babies!

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

I know!! know.!! Pick me.....LOL oh yea I'm not playing..hehehehehehe

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

LOL, Lauri, you are too cute! We do need to figure out about customs regulations... Mark was going to look into it... Even if we can't send actual plants to the UK, maybe we can "shower" you with cuttings!

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Is it Robs Bunny Hop? I get so confused because I have noticed alot of varieties are very similar in looks : ( Nancy

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

LOL that is what I heard..a plant shower sounds great....I like holding cards, it is fun and then guessing the ones you call and knowing them is a hoot too....

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

It's not 'Rob's Bunny Hop'. These blooms are fully double. :-)

You're right, it's hard to tell by comparing photos, even when there are only 35 fairly varied possibilities. That's why it's pretty much impossible to ID an AV from a photo unless you have a way to really narrow down the choices.

Whoops, I just realized that the photo of the leaf babies didn't post... I'll try again so we can get a better look at the variegation on this one...

Gosh darn it LOL I was going by the "ears" clues.I think maybe I better just sit back and let the pros do the ID's as I am not very good at it. I will have a whole pageful of wrong guesses and people hollering at me if I keep trying!! You need to put a Big Tag in each one so I can get them right : ) Nancy

Emporia, KS(Zone 5b)

Is it Rebel's Rosebud?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

LOL, sorry about that, Nancy! Nobody will get hollered at for wrong guesses in this game... :-)

CJ, yes it is! My neice got it for her birthday because her middle name is Rose... and my dad calls her "Rosebud."

Good going!

Emporia, KS(Zone 5b)

Hooray!!! ; )

I have a niece who's middle name is Rose, too. But we call her Splashley (her name is Ashley). ; )

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Good Job C.J. You know your av's!!!!
It was so funny.I remembered critter mentioning giving the av to her neice in a previous thread and no matter how hard I tried I could not find it !! . : ) Nancy

Emporia, KS(Zone 5b)

Of course not...that would've been HELPFUL!! lol Can't have that!! ; )

lol I SOOOOO don't know my av's. Notice that she posted that picture 2 hours ago!!! lol

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Well, we can't always have everybody getting the ID right 3 minutes after the photo posts, now can we?

LOL, I'm glad people are having fun with this little twist! I thought it might be entertaining...

Livermore, KY(Zone 6a)

I am just glad I finally had one on my list. I can't ever guess the names. I need the labels Critter.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Think of the photos as a preview of the call... if you don't want to play that part of the game, just wait for the name to be posted at the top.

Homosassa, FL(Zone 9a)

well i finally came and check on the bingo,i halven,t felt like it.
i don,t have a one,so i will check back in sometime next week and see whats there. you guys are doing great good luck to everyone

Emporia, KS(Zone 5b)

Hi starfly- I don't think any of us are getting much on our Bingo cards yet. You could help us id the plants, though! It's actually pretty fun! ; )

Emporia, KS(Zone 5b)

I went to check to see if you'd posted the next one yet and Doug asked what I was doing. I told him and he asked why was I doing it. And I said, Well, the winner gets a box of leaves. And he looked at me kinda funny and he said, well that's kinda silly, isn't it? If you want some leaves, I'll go outside and collect some for you right now. I won't break a single one.

LOL!!

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

You are right about that CJ.Its alot of fun! I just need to learn to keep my hand down until I am sure its the right ID.Need to do my homework so to speak. : ) Nancy

Edited to add: The leaves comment was really cute! That will tickle me for quite some time! : )

It does seem kinda silly when you say the winner gets a box of leaves. LOL Being that it is fall. LOL

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Starfly, I hope you feel better. Are you recovering from surgery or illness. I hope you don't mind my asking, I would love to add you to my prayer list. God Bless!
JanetS

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Starfly, I hope things improve for you soon... *hugs*

ROFLOL at the comment about the leaves... You know, I'd be happy to add some maple leaves to the box... bet they'd make a good insulating material!

And you're right... It's probably time to roll those dice again!

;-)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

This is one folks might recognize, because I was putting it into every trade box!

I had 3 leaf pots that looked like this...

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

... and I ended up with dozens of plantlets, because I thought I needed to pot up all of them!

Here are some of the larger babies that were separated from just one leaf pot.

Need another hint? I got this variety as an overgrown bonus plant and performed radical surgery on it. Here's the mother plant before it was chopped up.

And here's a photo of the crown cutting, to show the bloom...

Allegro Appalachian Trail?

Emporia, KS(Zone 5b)

Can you tell I'm just too excited you're doing the next one??? lol

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I think you are right...Apalachian Trail...

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Girl, you are on a roll!

'Allegro Appalachian Trail' hasn't turned out to be a very good grower for me... keeps ending up with stunted crowns... maybe I just haven't figured out what it likes. However, I just saw the one I gave my brother when we were visiting them on Sunday, and it is huge and healthy! I tucked 1 larger and 3 smaller plantlets into a 4 inch self watering pot for him on Memorial Day. Now it looks nice and full, with not a stunted leaf in sight.

Does anyone else have one that's doing well?

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Think you are right too : )
Edited to say....
Oops, must have been typing the same time critter was : )

This call is for the night owls or the early birds... just don't expect me to confirm the ID for a good 8 hours, as I'm heading for bed!

This is a sweet little one that I just treasure!

Heh is it not the cutie Ramblin' Midget I sent you WOW so Precious love this little cutie :))
We went to bed early but woke we can't sleep and Hubby is hungry :))

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

You must have been trying to make this one really easy. LOL Is it Ramblin' Midget?

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Ah man!!! Posted at the same time!! I need to type faster!! LOL

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Yes indeed, it's 'Ramblin' Midget', sent to me by Violet_Treasure... Sorry, mgh, but Allison gets the point for this one... although I admit she did have an advantage when it came to recognizing it!

Allison, I hope you and DH can get back to sleep... sure hope he is healing up well after that incident with the saw, too.

OK, I have no good reason for still being up, although I did forget to order a gift certificate earlier and got back online to do so... A couple of DH's coworkers got married last weekend (nice wedding, fun reception)... We got some salt & pepper grinders they wanted at BB&Beyond (although the idea of grinding salt is still foreign to me) and decided to supplement it with a gift certificate from Penzey's.

Now I'm just babbling on, so I think it's time I got some sleep!

Good night, all!
