So...ranging temperatures is what passes for diversity in Maine??
What's Growing - Part 11
hey, pix, he's not speechless anymore.
Gram ~ I really didn't think the "speechless" would last to long.
OK Dave, ranging temps it is!
No Al, Last night was warmer than the highs for today. But I guess the big difference would be the 30+ degree drop in temps. between last night and tonight.
Boy it didn't take you 2 long to bounce back! LOL
BTW Al, Nice flower, neat looking thing.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!! Love that no-name!
Nancy - how big did Lavender Perfection get?
I do have one similar to this, but that one always had small buds and this one had a bud the size of a walnut.
Ok - well this one is 9" ,at a time when most of my dahlias are getting smaller.
this is the one I do have, right now it is smaller(6") with open eyes. Vera Seyfang

I just recieved my order of bulbs from Buggycrazy, I bought two "Lavender Gems" Oriental Lilies. The size of this seller's bulbs are out of this world!!!!!!! I was told they were big bulbs but i never imagined this!!!
Here's the link to the flower I purchased: http://buggycrazy.vstore.ca/product_info.php/pName/lavender-gem/cName/lily-bulbs-oriental-lilies
Here's a picture of one of the bulbs. I have put a lightbulb beside it as I was looking for something everyone would have, for size comparison.
Pix - that is big, is that a GE or Westinghouse? That reminds me of this photo.

Al, thats one big rose, and i like the idea, but didn't have a Sprite can handy.
I have promised to 'order no more' this fall, but i made a note of buggycrazy for next year, Pixie. can't wait to see what you get out of that great looking bulb.
Nancy, your dinner plate dahlia is one for those who are dieting...they always say to use smaller plates ;-)
where's Dave (not Dave)? met some friends of friends of his today
Aha! I get it now. Sort of like a dessert plate, eh? Makes one think, gram.
Gram, The squirrels are Al's friends (I think because he's nuts). My friends came from Dinosaur Crossing in Oakdale CT. They are life-sized.
Dave (NOT DAVE)
Ah, that brings back memories!
Sorry Dave (NOT DAVE OR AL), you both have such strange friends I got confused...senior moment...very long senior moment. Actually, there are some friends of YOUR friends in my neighborhood. I should stop and get some pics. Unusual, to say the least. I don't know about life size, but they are BIG. these folks have 2 dino sculptures in their yard. one is kind of a rusted metal thing and the other probably fiberglass. kind of neat if you don't have to live next door.
Hey Dave - does Dino Crossing know that you have their dinos in your backyard???
Anita, Shhhhh! Not yet.
Al....Are those still inbloom or was that taken earlier this summer? Nice when ever it was taken, but amazing if they are still in bloom. Mine have gone to sleep already, foliage has taken a hit from the frost.
Al, Very nice!
Pix - that's from today. No frost here yet, I cover most of them anyway. Snow would be better than a deep freeze, but I am betting the forecast improves a little by then.
gram, so nice to see flowers!
Gram, I had to work today and when I left the house at 8:30 I couldn't move the car until I scraped the windshield! The wipers weren't able to do it. I had to get out the scraper! I don't know what the temperature was, though.
pix, beautiful fall scene.
al, no primrose...which one?
nancy, sorry the frost got you. I am very often glad I moved a bit north.
Did you guys noticed that this thread has been seen 600 times???? wow... it's popular !!!!
Gram - the middle upper one.
Those bumble bees - what entertainment they bring us. I just had a lady stop that wanted to collect some cosmos seeds - I told her you only need them once.
My toad lily is in full bloom! It must have 5 or 6 flowers. No picture but it looks just like some of the others that have been posted.
That's fine Dave - I'll look for the pic in December.
Al, that's a Eupatorium 'Gateway' that I just planted a few weeks ago and has buds. just thought it was pretty.
I can't believe the number of different bees on the asters. guess it's all they have left. there were at least 3 or 4 different species on there yesterday when I looked, but they move too fast for me to focus. fun to watch, though
Dave, you have to bring a note from your mother if you don't have a pic
'A dinosaur ate my toad lily, so I don't have a picture...signed NOTDave's Mother'
LOL!!!
Does anyone else have toad lily? If you have a different variety than me, would you save me some seed?
