Hey I've actually been to Baa Harba.
What's Growing - Part 11
Candis, ... here is the link: [HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com] I sent her Dmail.... it's really a clever idea... now I just have to find a place to get these things.... I just heard that I actually have to bring my rosemary inside for teh winter... I have some digging to do saturday.... oh well...
it's 70's today and tomorrow will 80'... don't you just love new england??? sunday I was freezing.....
Yep Al, you have, can tell by your accent! lol
You can tell Al's squirrel is a city one - uses too much hair gel...look how stiff his coat is!
Gram, I can't find those flue things around here... I called 3 places, they think I am crazy... what's a real build supply store??? any one from around here give me a hand?!!!!
Besides the gel, Al's squirrel knows how to pose for a picture... he is a sophisticated one!!!
I took a nice trip thru New England a few years back and bought one of Baa HaaBaa shirts with the sheep on it. Took a nice drive up Cadillac Mtn in Acadia in the fog. couldn't see a darn thing. we were lucky we didn't fall off the side of the mountain. guess the fog was better than an earthquake. also went on a whale watch in the fog. didn't see any whales, but the fog was very attractive ;-) don't mean to be negative. we seriously had a wonderful time. Pixie...we were the 'leaf peepers'.
Kass, I planted rosemary and I'm leaving it out. I know people don't have much luck in our zone, but I'm giving it a try.
Anita, lol on the hair gel...
I heavily mulched my Rosemary and it survived the winter. I'll probably take a cutting or two as well.
Kassia, I just meant a place where house builders buy their supplies instead of a do-it-yourself kind of place like Home Depot. look in the phone book under builder's supplies. I actually think I looked under mason supplies too. the kind of place that sells bricks and that kind of thing.
here's the link to one of the threads for the herb garden, but I know other people use them

I will try ... I even called a place that cleans chimnees!!!! And I end up talking with someone about a pellet stove... well, at least I know more because I am thinking of installing one ... my heat is electric and to change to oil will cost 18K .... I will be dead by the time I see any savings .... well if I am dead I don't have to pay for heat...
Thanks Gram
Al, Those aster are really pretty...Prof. Kip is on the list for next spring!!!!
If the bee is not real, it's a good imposter!
I'm afraid you're right Pixie, I must have been dreaming! It wasn't you after all, it was Pirl. Well, they both start with Pi....Never mind.
Thanks, Al. bright spot in my day (darn, now I've got to stop picking on you). I do like Alma. great color.
It's pretty regardless of the name. Maybe it's supposed to attract pink dahlias to it. We understand that you are not responsible for the name.
I love that dahlia.... I am looking for it next year... all dahlias I have are yellow,,, which I like, but this one is gorgeous...
Al, you almost got me to beeeeeeelieve you this time...
Gram, no luck with the flue yet... I think I am going to post a thread about it...
Kassia, Any masonry supply store should have them. You can't make a chimney without them.
Al ~ The dahlia is beautiful, I'd take that color "pink" anyday!
Gram ~ I am sorry is was so fogging on your trip to Bar Harbor, the view is unreal on a clear day.
I left after a very memorable visit and promised to come back another time to meet the rest of the "folks".
Dave & Al.....I believe that's a " Touche' ".
Careful Pixie - you don't want Dave sending over his 'heavy'.
Gee, I love that herb garden. Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery? Guess it won't matter if no one can find them, though.
Dave's right...masonry supply stores for the flue liners. unfortunately, they do use metal flue liners now, Dave. so you can make a chimney without one. and they use some kind of pourable stuff for repairs, too, i think. but you can get them. you could probably use drain tile or something else, too. but I wanted the flue liners because they're square (ish) and will fit together nicer without as much wasted space.
No Snow White? Oh well - I guess.
no luck with the flue linners yet... but I will keep trying...
touche.... pixie, lol... what an imagination!!!!
Gram have you heard of Der Rosenmeister in Ithaca? I just read on Horticultire Magazine about the best well kept secret of the northeast? It says they have hardy roses for zone 4 and 5... I am wondering if it will be worth a trip next year in May...
How about Bedlan Farms?
I am so impressed with my roses... they are in blooooming so much... amazing!!! Even the Royal Amethyst has no leaves, the roses are smaller but they still gorgeous... the chicago peace rose that was completly naked almost a month ago, has tons of new growth... I am amazed...
Pixie, For the first time since I was in diapers, I am speachless! You constructed a children's book!
Sadly, my fairies were all eaten by my prehistoric lizards.
Dave is speechless???? OMG! What have I done? LOL I'm pretty good at fairy tales...had 5 kids to try them out on. Now when my grandaughters get sick and can't come over I email them stories w/pictures. You got a sample of what they like, maybe i'll borrow Dave's prehistoric lizards for the next one. No, that wouldn't be a good fairy tale......"And then the giant lizards ate all the little fairy folks and that was the end of the Enchanted Forest!" and the girls would have nightmares and my daughter would hang me! LOL
Al....sorry about Snow White, Merlin said she was M.I.A.
How's this for diversity:
Wed. 11pm 70 degrees
Thurs. high for the day 58 degree's
Thurs. night fortcast 33 degree's
