Love that vine Johnny. I bought some seed for next year. Since you live in the same town as I, I'm glad to know it is happy here.
Has anyone heard from Pirl in awhile? I've not noticed any posts from her?
What's Growing - Part 11
Anita ~ Now that you mention it..no. Haven't seen a thing posted from pirl in awhile now. Does she live in the area that's without electricity?
No Pixie. She lives on Long Island near Anita & John.
She lives on the East end of Long Island. She is usually very active on here which is why I've wondered where she's been.
Maybe Pirls gone leaf-peeping w/her DH. I know she mentioned coming to Maine this summer but not sure If she was planning a summer trip or fall trip. Does her grandson live close by? Do you know if maybe her family lives in the area without power? I'm sure we will hear from her soon!
Didn't Pirl mention that they go on vacation this time of year? I seem to remember that she posted that somewhere.
Dave, I've thought about Nancy too. Wonder if she is not able to post because of power outage. Somehow, I can see her managing to cook and helping the neighbors even without electricity. Bet she'll be back on soon.
Nice to see a few blossoms being posted. I had a few snapdragons and mums still standing yesterday - and that was it.
Anita, I enjoyed the info on dahlias...cool.

Anyone interested in a book thread for winter reading? Maybe limit it (as if we could with this group) to garden related books? Might give us something positive to do other than watching the calendar.
Kay, I, too, could see Nancy helping the neighbors. and I really wouldn't worry too much. buffalo gets to be a very small town in crisis. people really pull together. example: my son's power was out. he has a fireplace. also has an elderly neighbor lady on oxygen. she had a good supply of O2, but couldn't come to their house because of the danger of a spark and was afraid to say alone, so he slept on her couch. another neighbor of theirs is a recent widow in her 70's...she slept on their couch so she would be warm and not alone. a family down the street from them came the next night (when families had a chance to collect the elderly neighbors), brought food (which my son's family was lacking) and warmed up (they had no fireplace). also my son has a gas stove and this family had electric so they had food and couldn't cook it. I'm sure there are thousands of these stories all over the area. people share what they have and do what they can.
and it's not terribly cold here anymore. Nancy may even have gone to stay with someone if her power is still out.
I decided to create a new thread. Even with cable, this one was taking a few to load http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/661544/ .
