Coffee and ... for Thursday, August 17 - my 38th wedding anniversary - We came from here: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/640243/

1962 - East German border guards killed 18-year-old Peter Fechter as he attempted to cross the Berlin Wall into West Berlin. He thus became the first victim of the wall.
1978 - Double Eagle II became the first balloon to cross the Atlantic Ocean when it landed in Miserey near Paris, 137 hours after leaving Presque Isle, Maine.
1998 - Monica Lewinsky scandal: US President Bill Clinton admitted in taped testimony that he had an "improper physical relationship" with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Davy Crockett, American frontiersman and soldier (d. 1836) was born in 1786. Mae West, actress and playwright (d. 1980), was born in 1893. Robert De Niro, actor, was born in 1943. Robin Cousins, British figure skater, was born in 1957.

With the starting of this thread, I pass the responsibility on to McCool for the rest of the month. Who will succeed her? I enjoyed starting it and I’ll come back and do it again some time in the future. For now, pull up a chair and grab a cup of coffee or a glass of lemonade and let’s talk.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

This time I'll be first on the thread altlhough it's not quite thursday here. Here we were in 1968 on the 17th.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Good Morning, all. I am having a wild and wacky week. My boss is off on vacation to Myrtle Beach, S.C. and I'm in charge of the cemetery.. However, since I also work a part-time job at the library, I have been run to death keeping up with both jobs. On Tuesday, I worked about 10 hours and then went to a museum to present a slide show. The show was sparsely attended at first but soon filled up the room. The projector hung up 3 times but I soldiered through with the help of man who was very calm and figured out the problem and fixed it immediately. Also one slide was upside down, so that a bare bulb hanging from the ceiling on a wire was seen sprouting from the middle of the floor; verry funny.
I think there will be some effort to convert these slides to a power point presentation soon, I hope.
My back is really giving me fits from all this so I had to take to a hydrocodiene last night. My spousal unit had some left over from the last time he was in the emergency room. He couldn't take them; they made him sick.
We had an awkward moment at the cemetery. A family brought the dad's ashes to be interred in a cremation niche in the mausoleum. There was a little service, but when the niche was opened, the container wouldn't fit! I can't imagine why a crematorium would send over a container that was too big for the niche. The family decided to buy an urn and inter the remains (known in the business as cremains) later.This was very traumatic but the family behaved quite well and all will be resolved soon, I hope. I, however, was sweating bullets.
We have had some cooler weather for 2 days and what a relief. Folks here in the mountains are not used to hot weather and a lot don't have air conditioning. Thank goodness, during my house rehab, a new heating-a/c system was installed.
Well, time for a shower and making some attempt to get dressed and ready for work. I will be so glad when this week is over.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Congrads- Vi - many, many more years!

Wood, that story about the remains was humorous - glad the people didn't get upset about it. Our neighbors had their mother cremated several states away, shipped here, and keep her on the top shelf of a closet. It is a neighborhood joke that grandma is in the closet... Hope my family can find humor like that.

I had a dream last night that I keep having over and over. We live in an old farmhouse (did for 3 yrs) and friends come over and it is a total mess (not far from the truth!!) and I rush around stashing things and apologizing...I must have some hang up about this because I've had the same dream over and over - just different people stopping in.

defoe- it is cool during the nights (50's) and our pool temps have plumeted..brr. I'm ready to shut the thing down for the season. We usually try to do it around Labor Day - that guarantees a week or so of hot hot weather here!!

Carat - I don't think they word the letter as 'you are required' = just as 'these things are needed'. The district is quite a wealthy district and most get the things. I taught in a rural district where $$ was tight - we weren't even allowed to send home a list. I do think parents should be asked to get somethings with provisions for those who are unable. I saw so much waste when 'we' provided stuff. Oh well, I'm not in that business anymore, so I need to keep my mouth shut!!

somer - cute story about the one legged cat. Don't animals amaze you. My friend has a huge dog (mutt of a couple of big breeds) Anyhow, they found bone cancer, so took off his front let. You'd never know it- he scampers with the rest of their dogs. Looks so sad, but he doens't seem worse for it.

Time to move the sprinklers!

Boy it's unusual for me to be posting this early. Have an early dentist appointment, then the grocery/errand chore. I complain about grocery shopping, but only about what a pita it is to handle the items so many times, etc. I am truly thankful that in my lifetime, I have had plenty of food to eat.

I am supposed to get my braces off today, then when I get home, it is back to my big project, removing crushed brick and laying plastic, then putting the brick back. Don't think I will finish it today, but will work with that goal in mind.

Everybody have a good morning, and I will check in when I return.

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Oh Ann Happy Anniversary! Beautiful picture!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Good Morning Everyone. Slept poorly, awakened twice with my oxygen hose blocked by my irregular nasal passages. I may have to get some of those nose strips.

We got all the new supports under the main barn beam yesterday, and another corner post set in concrete. I just hope I can adequately square up the other 2 corner posts so the building is square. I'd hate to have to trim all the plywood for the flooring. When I tried to help Molly square up her arbor we ended up with a funky parallelogram!

I've been picking up Gracie every morning when I feed her and turning her on her back so she starts getting accustomed to being handled. Might try taking out the stitches tomorrow or the next day. Probably the next day because tomorrow is TN doctor day.

I stopped at the hospital last evening and picked up my CT films for this new doctor. Forgot to go to the pharmacy to pick up the script for the RLS. Must be sub-conscious reaction to the fact that I hate taking meds as I'm so often allergic to them.

Brent brought over a bag of tomatoes yesterday, and some yellow squash. I roasted the tomatoes with onions and garlic yesterday and hope to have time today to can the squash in the sauce... and I have the last batch of apples sauced and ready to can. By the time I got back from the store for more lids after work yesterday I was too tired to start canning.

I'm going to call every dentist in 3 towns and see if someone won't look at this @#$%^ tooth ASAP.

I loved the math story.

I must have been hungry in another lifetime because I hoard food. I remember all the photos of bread lines (or soup lines) in this country during the Depression. If my grandfather hadn't been a farmer, the whole family would have starved. Maria has some wonderful tales on a thread called "Grandma's Apron" http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/453740/

~~~ to everyone, have a wonderful day!
OOps, forgot... Happy Anniversary, Ann!!!
Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)
Oops posted this on yesterday's thread...
Hi-I got up at 2 am to check the new kitties, who were in bed with DD#2. So now I'm up for good.
somer-how kind to take Kate and give her such good care. I wish i could take all the unwanted ones...but I had to adopt someone (s) who could fit in with the menagerie and stay indoors for now. We are now up to 2 dogs and 4 cats and 4 horses. If we move up to the farm I could have more animals, but i would never want to take any I wouldn't have time to spend with or that would feel out of place. Also, up there there will be a coyote danger, so you still wouldn't want kitties wandering at night.
Nice picture of the boys too! Looks like a beautiful spot.
m5-So you have a kittytree lumberjack there!
Bonnie-you and Ann are two of a kind. I wish I could acquire a little of whatever it is that keeps you going. I have so many projects, and no inclination whatsoever to start them! Every once in awhile i get going, then I can go for a long time. Just seem to need a new starter, or something.
Ann-Thanks I will hunt for the hosta too. I can see becoming a hosta addict after taking that photo tour. I wish there were more places where you could see pictures of groups of hosta, and get an idea of the relative sizes and colors (and maybe just copy the nice groupings while you're at it!)
Susan-Too cute picture of the Bit. Thanks! I just went to a big fund raiser for the SPCA here. I wish I could do more. It is too far to drive everyday to walk animals or help out that way, plus I'm still doing allergy shots (Some people might think it irresponsible to have all these critters I'm allergic to, but I figured i'll beat it!!!) I do support them financially. It is a tough time of year here with everyone dumping kittens. MAybe at some point I can serve on the board or do some other office type work to support them. I also feel free to share my opinion with people who always seem to have "free kittens..."
Off to the coffee pot, be back shortly
Happy anniversary Ann!!
Oh and Defoe ... congrats on getting those blasted braces off today! :-) Enjoyed our talk yesterday. We didn't get much of a shower. Just enough sprinkle to run me in the house. LOL
Darius, hope you have luck finding a dentist. Also good luck with your project.
dmc, hope the new kitties are doing good today.
Maria, that was so sweet of your friend to bring you roses. You must be a good friend back. Bet you give her some of your wonderful baking, huh? *smile*
Well, I worked outside a bit yesterday repotting a few of my things that needed a pick me up after all this heat. Things are looking a bit sad and neglected these days. The DH is planning to come home for lunch, so I'm trying to come up with something to put on the table. I'm not much of a lunch eater. Don't think yogurt will do. Will just ~~ at everyone for now.
waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)
Happy Anniversary Ann, have a wonderful day ...that includes more than washing and laying bricks!! Lovely wedding photo! Thanks for sharing it. I'm a last minute packer too, much of my morning routine goes into one or more plastic ziplocks, so it's pointless to put them aside sooner. Clothing gets squished and shoved around so the longer you keep it out the fewer wrinkles to deal with later.
Olivia and Sammi were on a tear last night! They have two favorite stuffed animals, the monkey and the cat, and they had a grand time beating them up, and chasing each other around. Olivia has a little fuzzy ball that she likes to carry around, and Sammi likes it too, so there is often a battle about who gets to play with it. Dmcd is in for some fun with the new kitten, they are so entertaining!
It really feels like summer is winding down, cool nights at last, and darker in the morning. I slept well last night, and thank you all for the support, I'm sure it helped. Woke up at 5:30 but didn't feel quite like getting up so went back to sleep and had one of those weird dreams. I was back at my old work place, wandering around, interrupting meetings, asking if people had seen where I parked my car....I had managed to lose both my car and my long winter coat but I did have a nice big quilt that I had wrapped around me. And I was barefoot. I usually don't remember dreams but this one was a doozy. It seemed to take a long time and was very convoluted, but, so vivid I can still remember details and the sequences. Obviously housekeeping doesn't linger in my mind!!! LOL
WS, they know who can keep the wheels rolling...sorry you are having such a busy week juggling all those responsibilities. Too bad about the family whose urn wouldn't fit, you'd think the funeral home would ask about size. My sister took my birth mother's ashes, and eventually placed them under a rose bush in her yard. That rose bush is still living and every year, sends out a huge bloom in late autumn, even if snow has fallen in the UP. We chalk it up to her usual orneriness.
Bonnie, if I lost my calculators, I wouldn't be able to pay a bill or write a check!! I was waiting in the truck one day while DH was in the auto parts store, and thought I would use my time constructively and enter the debit receipts in my checkbook, and balance it. What a joke!! I'm sitting there trying to subtract and my brain would just shut down. Gave it up as a bad job and did it when I got home! Must be true, use it or lose it! You'll be a happier woman with the braces off! Will you have to wear the retainer all the time, or only at night?
Elaine, I've heard that Airbourne is very good, and the advice about a vitamin a day is a good one too. It is not uncommon for a virus to linger in your system for a long while after symptoms have disappeared. You have a pretty busy schedule and that can wear you down, so keep yourself rested as much as possible so it doesn't sneak up on you again. I know, easier said than done.
I'd better get dressed and get out there and start a sprinkler. I don't see any signs of rain, in spite of the weather forecaster's predictions, and the gardens really need a good drink.
IO1, isn't DH supposed to bring lunch with him if he comes home at lunchtime? Is your arm feeling better?
Darius, good luck finding a dentist, you've been suffering with that dratted tooth for too long. What misery.
~~~~~ing at all the rest of you!

See you later,
Sheila

A quick good morning to everyone.

Happy anniversary to Ann and her hubby. Have a nice trip, hope you can get to a computer now and then to update us on your travels.

Great pictures of the kitties, Meezers. I was thinking that they recognize the stuffed cat as a cat because it has the right coloring, but I wonder what they think about the monkey? other than that is needs to be dead.

Darius, I hope you find a dentist that has an opening sooner than the appointment you have scheduled.

Sorry for everybody who didn't sleep well. I did fine until 3am and after that it was just naps. My cats stayed with me through all the next 2 hours of tossing and turning, one on each side of me all snuggled up. When I sit up in the morning they stretch, purr and jump down off the bed. They each have their preferred side, so when I feel one moving I know without looking which one it is.

Got to run now, see you later. ~~

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good morning folks.

Have been to aquafit, to the church to drop off the foams, to the shoping centre to get a case that properly fits DH's digital so he doesn't keep taking the case from mine (which is really too small), to the gallery to pick up a photo DH had framed of his Aunt and Great-Grandmother. It's for the aunt who turns 90 Saturday.

Thanks for the aniversary wishes. DH is due back from Newfoundland in a couple of hours, but we'll have to pack today and try to get to bed early because unless he's been able to arrange a later departure, we'll be at the airport tomorrow by 5 am. We'll celebrate next week in Vancouver.

Dorothy, the hosta is 'Lydia Scheu’ and it's registration info is at http://hostaregistrar.org/detail.asp?search=lydia&anyallexact=all&Variety=Lydia%20Scheu Don't know what it's like but it sounds like it forms a medium sized mound with quite large leaves - yellow centre. Doesn't say what color margin.

woodspirit - I hope the back is feeling better. Really strange that the ashes were in the wrong size urn. somebody should have known.

Bonnie - great news - getting rid of the braces. Good luck with your big project.

Darius - I think those nose strips work. Actually, good you reminded me. Maybe they will be helpful on the long flight to Japan since they probably won't allow nasal spray. Good luck getting the stitches out of Gracie.

Good luck with a dentist appointment. I know some help in on its way to you.

Elaine - have a good lunch with DH.

Sheila - loved the pics of your cats.

Mary - I suspect that DH will have a computer along and we'll be able to use it somewhere. However, in Vancouver, DD has just a cell phone. There might be time to find an Internet Cafe. Same in Japan.If nothing else, we might be able to get on-line in the airport lounges. We are using enough points to go business class and DH travels so much that he can access the lounges anyway. I'm limited to access only on OS flights if I accompany him though.

Well, need to check the laundry and hang some out, dry some. Need to start seriously thinking about what I plan to pack and leave plant watering instructions for neighbours. Also need to stay clear of fertilizer. Don't want them to swab test my luggage and pick up traces of it like they did 3 years ago.

Hope you all have a good day. BBL.

Ann

dmc congrats on the new kitties. I couldn't of done it that soon. Maybe in a week or so. They are gorgeous!

somer loved the cat story.

Raining here so changes my plans completely. I'll try to send some to whoever needs it.

Hope everybody has a great day and are feeling better soon.

Howdy all!

I'm here lurking a bit, but I'm actually trying to get some chores done. I am working this weekend starting this afternoon so I've got to have things in line for the weekend.

Congratulations to VAnn and her hubby! 38 years is something to be proud of.

I hope those who are dealing with illnesses and injuries have a better day today.

To everyone else, I hope you have a lovely day today.

Update on Mum. She's hanging in there for the moment. She's profoundly weak and is at times a bit confused and quite forgetful. But she's still here :-) I'm grateful for every day. I made her a pot of tea and took her some bisquits Tuesday, but she can hardly swallow without choking, even sitting her up in high Fowler's position. She's getting medication now for the vomiting and that's definitely better. She sleeps a lot, awake only when one of us is there or when they bring meals.

The laundry monster is calling my name. I've got to fold a dryer load and get a shower soon. Hugs to everyone!

~Babs~

Starkville, MS

Babs - hugs and love to you, Mum, and all. I am constantly reminded by so many posts of just how lucky I am. Me Mither is 93 1/2 years old and in (relatively) excellent health. Arthritis - yes; some loss of hearing - yes; some loss of mobility - yes; bad heart - *yes*; but mentally - sharp! She gave up driving - her decision - and moved into a lovely small apartment in the middle of a small town. She can walk to her church, the library, go downstarirs for excerise, bingo, or just visiting. She goes to her painting club once a week and goes to her quilting group once a week. She has never regreted her choice to move out of the country to town, but she does miss some of the country lifestyle. I include her in as many of my activities as I can, as do my brothers. My sister would if she lived closer, but spends max time with Mither whenever she is in town.

Mither has paved her way for other facilities if/when needed and is prepared (as can be) for whatever comes. DH and I are set up to take her here if it works, but it will be mostly her decision at that point.

I understand the problems so many have with the "elder children" and I'm so thankful that I have not been faced with that - yet.

Moral here - tell her that you love her and do the best you can. She will love you back no matter what!

counting my Blessings

tigh- gosh - your mom lives on her own at 93? Is she in a retirement facility? I worry so about my folks. They are spending every penny they have - my mom says 'why save it' Yikes-- I say because you might need it!! Mine are both 82, live in a condo on their own, DSF still drives (but I won't ride with him) and both are really 'with it!' We've talked about senior citizens housing, but haven't checked into the prices of those. I don't want them living with us- I need my space and tend to 'hollar' - that would upset them both too much. But I will do what I have to do.

My folks are bringing out lunch tomorrow- hair cutting day. Just an excuse to come out here, but that is fine with me!!

DH just came home in a grouchy mood - his job again. Oh man, this is getting so old....only 4 more years....

Sprinkler needs moving again- seems like that is all I do

Starkville, MS

Sarv - yes it is a retirement facility. Lots of security, but not "assisted" living. All the residents are basically independent, and "do their own thing". I haven't met a sour one there yet! Mither lives entirely on SS as far as basics go - us kids kick in where needed, which turns out to be very little. I go once a week or so to take her shopping, one brother takes care of things like dead microwaves, other takes care of dead tvs, etc. Mostly we all kick in as 'life' happens and we all spend as much time with her as possible. She keeps us entertained with her childhood stories and we keep her up to date on all the family news. So far - so good. We all take it a day at a time.
g

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Take all the "good " days and store them in your memory bank. We'll be them, some day. We should prepare living wills so that our children will not have to make hard decisions for us when the time comes. Much love comes your way Ginny, and Babs, for the care and concern you show your beloved parents.

All overcast and cloudy but no real rain. a sprinkle here and there which is probably just the excessively humid air.

Mary, if anyone can figure out what a cat is thinking, they could make a fortune writing a book about it. They are so unlike dogs who show every emotion that crosses their mind.

I'm seriously injuring the laundry monster too, and have a few other things on my todo list, so I'd better keep at them, or the day will melt away and I'll have another list to do tomorrow.

Speaking of knowing what cats are thinking...have any of you read the 'cat who' books? They are easy reading and include siamese...m5 - ya listening!!

Vi- new coverings look nice.

tgif- that is the next step for my folks I think. How do you find one?? I think I need to do some planning for them. They think they are going to live forever...

Overcast here now too - but no rain in the forecast. Sat they said 60% chance (noon news) now the evening news has lowered it to 30%. Which means none!! I'm still watering, but whenever I go to move the sprinkler, I get eaten alive by the skeeters. In fact one is buzzing my ear as I type!! grrr

Whoever was going to buy the scrabble game - go for it. I've played for hours today!! I'm up to the third level, but just can't beat the computer on that one yet. I should wait and play when the weather turns crummy, but just can't leave it alone!!

Well, the buzzer is going off- dinner is done. It's so bad that I'm not even telling what it is...

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Sarv, I love the "Cat Who..." books! Used to have most of them. Might even name some future meezer after them, assuming a similar cat character.

Yippee! Gracie is now free of ONE suture and I'm not too scratched up. Maybe one a day is the ticket, LOL.

Mush done todat in the barn but too dark in there for a decent photo. Tomorrow is a day off for Brent unless he mows and tills while I am gone to TN, but we'll be back at it Saturday. He starts back to school next Wednesday so we have to make haste.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Sarv, I think I've read all the "Cat who" books. The author, Lillian Jackson Braun has spent a great deal of time in the UP of Michigan, and that accounts for her vivid descriptions of the area. A former girlfriend of my DS's met her once in a restaurant down south, where the author was fuming about the rude treatment she had gotten that day from someone, and vowed she was going to put that person in a book as one of the bad characters!! The antics of the two cats are so typical of siamese, as Darius will attest. They are so bright and clever and full of mischief.

Oops dinner's about to b urn

Here are the tired kitties, conked on the basement steps after playing all afternoon. Kids have tentatively decided on Matilda for the mom. Emily says "Monster is the coolest cat ever!". They are sweet. They don't like the dogs...intros are going slowly and I'm keeping them separate for now.

Babs, good to hear from you. Glad mom is steady and still here to laugh with you.

DMC, if I end up with a new kitty its going to be all your fault. Thats my story and I am sticking to it...

Darius, I had to take out PITA's stitches one at a time each day also. It was less tramatic on both of us that way.

VAnn, beautiful wedding picture. Happy Anniversary...

Sorry, I didn't check in as soon as I got home, but the morning ordeal just about got me. Didn't know what all the dentist was gonna do, so I sat in the chair 2 hours. Removed the braces, ground down 2 teeth, took impressions, and put on a temporary cap. The teeth were so stable that he is forgoeing the retainer, and will go back in 3 weeks for the permanent cap. After that the trip to WM, drug store, and grocery. Had to stop and get a drive through burger, as I was starving, guess that kept my grocery bill down.

Viann, Belated Happy Anniversary, somehow missed that this morning, Good job on the covers. Enjoyed the hosta pics also.

Sarv, so what was so horrible for dinner that it isn't even mentionable? LOL

M5, loved the kitty pics.

sarv - the complex that me Mither lives in is an historic hotel in her home town. It was purchased and renovated by the Methodist Church. She had put her name on their list shortly after my Father died since she knew that sooner or later she would have to move into town. Over several years they would call her as her name moved up the list and she would tell them "not yet" and her name would be rolled over. In 2000 she decided it was time and an opening was available and she hasn't looked back since. The key thing is to locate a place that is suitable and get on their list!!!! Do not wait until the last minute and get left out in the cold. This is something that needs to be thought out and planned for in advance. There are many facilities out there and it is much better to check out what is in your area ahead of time.

This goes to all who may be facing this situation for loved ones or for yourselves. PLAN AHEAD!

Sorry folks, I'll step off that soap box now with one final statement. I cannot tell you how easy my Mom made it for ALL of us by planning ahead. It has been so smoothe and so workable for her and all of the family. She also has plans in place for future care if it becomes needed. Nursing home, power of attorney, living will, organ donor - the whole nine yards. We 'kids' have no stressful decisions to be made at a possibly stressful time. We know what she wants, its in writing, and we all agree to follow her wishes.

Besides all that - she is *so* much fun to be with!

Spent today working on fixing the front hall. The carpet was at the rag end and I wanted to replace it with wood. My DH agreed and we have made great headway. I am looking forward to the finished look, but it really is fun to work on projects like this with him.

Okay, it's after 10 pm... anyone who does canning has to be crazy. I just finished my last batch for today and it's past TV time and almost bedtime! Plus, I still have peaches to do, maybe Sunday, and I plan to get 2 bushels of paste tomatoes tomorrow for spaghetti sauce.

Might have been a little quicker if I hadn't been building in the barn today, LOL.

Have a great Evening, Everyone!

Say Goodnight Gracie.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

That's going to look great! I am so sorry we didn't put hardwood all the way through when we built instead of that blasted wall to wall. If we do it now, we have to replace a lot of the subflooring because it rained on it and it warped and the builder did a poor job of sanding it instead of replacing it. I have bumpy spots under the carpeting. Might do it one day anyway. Sure wont replace carpeting. Being an open concept it's hard to stop anywhere so it would have to cover my little office area and the hallway, too. Major mess and furniture shifting.
Darius, one down and how many to go? Do you mummy wrap her to do it? That usually keeps the legs from doing any substantial damage and keeps them from getting too hyper. Have a safe trip to the derm. dr.

Yeah, Sarv, what was for dinner? Can we guess that you won't be having the leftovers for breakfast?

Time for ice cream. See y'all in the morning...~~~~~ good night to all

Good evening everyone,

I wish you a very Happy Anniversary, Ann! Hope your vacation is a great one too.

Sheila, thanks for the advice. I do take a multi-vitamin every night, but perhaps I should try the Airbourne. Part of the problem is likely dealing with the public in my store.

Babs, wish we could help you through this --- you know our thoughts are with you.

darius, don't know how you manage to get so much done while in pain . Hope your search for an available dentist has met with success.

dmcd, loved the kitty picture. Sounds like they've made themselves pretty much at home already. Good luck containing the chaos that is a kitten.

Hi Casey, how's your husband doing, by the way? Hope you end up with an enjoyable job in the new neighborhood.

tgif, you're entirely right. We haven't gone too much into planning here with my mother, beyond her living with us unless it becomes impossible. She really doesn't have much money and wouldn't be able to pay what a lot of the assisted living places cost. She did get some long-term care insurance, so that should be helpful if she needs continual care. We should start looking into some of this.

sarv, what a PITA recurring dream! My place looks like a tornado hit it ALL the time, but at least I don't dream about it. (besides, the only people that would likely come over at any time would be family)

Bonnie, I sure wouldn't have wanted to trade days with you today. All that time in a dentist's chair ---- Yuck! Hope your feeling good to be without those braces though.

I'll be back in a minute to take a shot at getting the links set up.

Okay, here's to a new day http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/parking/all/
