Thanks Dave47, those iris's are some of my favorite.
Thanks dj, I try! LOL

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Pixie, great collection. Glad the Zebrina came back for you, you'll have it for ever now, LOL.
Heavy rains again.
I think this is called a Ditch Lily, wild in the wooded area of the yard.

Just run those things over with the mower if they get in your way, Andy ;-) you may hear some sobbing here, but just ignore us

Zebrina sure is pretty.

Pixie you have just about everything blooming. My 'La Reve' is still just buds. Beautiful pix. And you still have iris, too. they are lovely.

All I have new in the last day or 2 is this pink astilbe. No idea of variety, my landscaper put it in, but it's pretty...like cotton candy

grampapa,
It's gorgeous!!

Sarahskeeper,
I have the daisy's too but they haven't bloomed yet. I keep them in my gardens as they remind me of when I was a little girl.

Millbury, MA(Zone 5a)

What's growing? FUNGUS, that's what! I think I have slime mold in my garden and the beans that I re-planted look to be headed for the same premature death as the first planting. Drat all this rain! Sure wish I could send some to our friends down South and out in the middle of the country who could really use it.

Fayetteville, PA(Zone 6b)

Huh, that's wierd: All you guys in Zone 5b have lillies blooming already, but the only thing blooming around here is the Daylillies, the American Elder, and my Blue Angel hosta...... Well that, and the Orange Trumpet vine has JUST started blooming. It must have been because of the cold, dry spring we had this year....

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Me, too, Hikaro. Seems like 6b is behind everyone. Even most of my daylilies are still just buds. gram

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Most of my Day Lilies are only in bud, too. Some of the Tetraploids don't even have buds yet.
Andy P

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Most of my daylilies that have bloomed were planted this spring with the exception of "Stella", a yellow one that looks alot like stella but taller and one other one thats kind of a gold-orange color. The gold-orange one blooms now, again in August, then last year I had blooms on it the end of Sept. , first of Oct.. I have no idea what it's called. I should post a picture of it to see if someone could help me I.D. it

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

pixie, I go up to Maine usually every summer to take photos of the moose and such.
I guess I felt it's colder in Maine because I have friends that have other friends who live in Maine ( Probably further up then you are) and they are always saying how much colder it is and how much more snow they get, But now that I think about it, If you don't live that far up into Maine, The climate really isn't that different.
I started getting the lilly beetles last year too, This year, I'm trying to do the same as you, I go out and pick them off and wipe off the larve The larve "IS" totally gross!!( I use chilli powder and dish soap, It seems to do a good job) But I don't have near what you do for lillys and I find it hard to keep up with sometimes! Sounds like you have quite an array of them, Must look really beautifull there when there blooming!!! The tri-color with the 10" blooms must really stand right out there!! WoW!! I haven't seen any rose bugs and I only really have 1 rose shrub.
Does the monkshood gets really huge? If so, I'm pretty sure I have it, I get a little confused sometimes on whats what here because sometimes people give me plants that I'm not really familiar with and I'm in a rush a lot of times so I just plant them where I can and forget to mark them and down the road, I totally forget what they are! So I end with this plant here and that plant there and sometimes don't havee a clue to what they are! Now, I try to make sure to write the names and mark them! When it comes to Daylillys thougn, Everyone, Except the un-named are marked!
When I first came to DG, I only had a webtv (No computer) and when I was trying to post the full name I wanted which was irislynx, It would only post iris, I don't know if it was because of a glinch in my webtv or a glinch at Daves and didn't know how to correct the problem at the time so I just left it as iris, I do however , Have quite a few Iris.
Seeing as how you collect faries/pixies, It's too bad you couldn't be at
my yard sale next week-end as I am selling an assortment of Fairies/pixies! I just love all the nice plant photos you posted!!! I especially like the color of purple pawprint!!! I love delpniums too but, They never seem to make it here, I've had some and they bloomed nicely, but never seem to come back the following year!!

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

Geeze, I almost missed it!! Hope you had a Happy One!! ~>

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Iris,
Thank you! What a cute idea! Love the pixie's!!
I hava a pink astilbe but it is a bit darker pink than grampapa's. It is just budding now, no blooms yet.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Gram,
Love the pixie! Since your on the south side of Conn. and im on the North side....I think we ought to just meet up at Iris's. It will only take me about 5 hours to get there! Ha Ha Ha

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Iris - you sell fairies/pixies?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Anitabryk2,
Are you a fairy/pixie lover too??

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

oh yes...I tell my nieces that they are the ones that take care of our gardens.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Pixie, I'm actually up the other end of NYS north of Buffalo, so probably double your 5 hours, but I hate to miss a good fairy sale. LOL

Can't stop thinking about that malva zebrina. It really caught my eye. I've made a note of it for next year. gram

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

For all Malva lovers...... I found these 2 unusual shades of Malva. Already bought the blue one...couldn't help my self!!!

Hollyhocks are opening up, I don't know the name of this one.

Thumbnail by bigcityal
South China, ME(Zone 5a)

It's gorgeous Al. It looks red, or is it hot pink?
I had black, pink and yellow on the side of the house, this year when I checked only 2 plants came back. I wonder which one I lost? I know its not the black, I remember where I planted that one, so its gonna be the pink or the yellow that died. But now seeing yours...that would look good w/the black and what ever color lived. My wheels are already spinning w/color combos for next year!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Al, That's a beauty.
So many wonderful flowers, so little room in the garden.
Gram, Those Daisies are in the compost pile now. A tall Bishops Children Dahlia is in that spot, already a foot tall.
This is a Day Lily that was around the mail box before I moved the box.

Andy,
Love the eyes in that one. Beautiful contrast!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Andy - that one is nice. I just got 6 named varieties in the mail today as a gift from a dayliilly lover.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

That one came in a pack of 'mixed' seed.
Andy P

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Al,
What ones did you get? I got a mess of them this spring......got a bit carried away ordering this winter!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Pixie,
The daylillies I have got this year in trades or gifts are:
Becky Lynn
Elegant Candy
SIloan Double Classic
Catherine Woodbury
Lacy Davis
Goolagong
Chicago Pettycoats
Gene Foster
Whimsical
Earth Angel

the other hollyhock was burgundy - this one is pink

Al,
Lovely shade of pink on the holly hock. I bet it is really stunning next to the burgundy one!
I just got Siloam Double Classic this spring too. And Becky Lynn was one I've been eyeing for a while, along w/Catherine Woodbury.
This morning I went out (for the 2 minutes it wasn't raining) and snapped this of "Exotic Candy". It is my first bloom for this plant as I just got it last month.

Back from Sunny CA! Who turned on the shower and left it running for two weeks? Anyway that is what it felt like when I stepped off the plane at Bradley last night. The weeds have taken over the yard! Ugh-h-h! Almost missed the lillies blooming - some are already past prime.

Here is a picture of my hollyhocks. Don't they look like tissue paper flowers? (No my house isn't crooked - the hollyhocks are so heavy that they lean over.)
