Here's one of my Trachy Takils (Kuamon Palms):
What's Growing, Part 2
Kay, Not too late at all.
I planted some less than 2 weeks ago, they are already breaking ground and I plant them deep.
Yours might bloom in September, what a welcome sight that will be.
Go for it.

Andy - Thanks - you made my day! Kay
Hikaro - You have been busy!! It will be fun to compare these photos to the same plants next year.
pixie - It's a beauty.
Thank you Kayellen, and by the way ..I just planted my glads last Wed. and 9 are up already.
Hikaro, Very interessting. Your garden is a whole new world for me. Thanks for sharing.
Dave
Glad you guys like it....
Kayellen: My woodland garden might look all lush and verdant right now, but come winter, the only things that will be green are the Bamboos, Cedar trees, hollies (I have two american hollies and a blue boy and blue girl holly), Mahonias, Palms (if they are as hardy as advertised), and Cordyline australis, Aspidistras and Rhodeas (until temps drop below 0 degrees, at least)...... I.e. all the stuff people normally associate with tropical climates!
As a matter of fact, here's a pic of my Oregon Grape Hollies, Two of my Cordyline australis, and my Hardy sugar cane.... to give an Idea of orientation, these are located E of the Bamboo grove, and the Needle palms and Yellow Banana are immediately to the Right of the Hardy sugar cane (and the Sabal minor 'Mc Curtain's and Home Depot Musa basjoos are to the right of them, and they are in a line along the edge of the Bamboo grove. Also growing in amongst the bamboo grove is a grove of wild Black and Choke Cherry trees. I'd originally planted the bamboo in hopes that it could shade out the Japanese honeysuckle and multiflora roses that threatened to choke out the cherries, and the bamboo has performed admirably in that capacity; It's killed at least 5 multiflora rose bushes, and shaded out about 80% of the honeysuckle attempting to re-grow after my crusade to eliminate the vines before they killed the cherry trees.... Unfortunately, I still ended up losing about 6 Cherry trees to the pernicious weed.
wow! I was looking at this thread and the last one, All Great photo's!!! And beautifull plants!! Hope you all dont miond if I join in?? pixie 62560, I just love that pixie lamp!!! I have never seen one like that!
bigcityal and dave47, I have about 200 torch lilys and they are not even in full sun, but, One thing they do need to survive is 'Good Drainage".
Hers a pic of one of my Iris that has just bloomed ..
Iris - great pictures, but WOW that Climbing Hydrangea - Beautiful!!! I have one that's begging to get into the ground and after seeing your picture, now I'm thinking I need to plant it closer to the house so I can see it regularly. What a beauty!
Debbie
Iris,
Gorgeous pictures! Love those iris's. The un-named daylily, does it bloom first? Before all the others?
I have one that looks just like it and it blooms early compared to the rest of my daylilies.
My mock orange is in bloom too. I have had it for over 20 years and it is huge now but I just love the smell when the wind blows.
It looks like you have had the climbing hydrangea for a while judging by the size of it! It is really beautiful!!!
Iris, looks like a good week in z5a! what wonderful flowers & wonderful pics. thanks so much for sharing. gram
rcn48, Thankyou, I 'would' plant it close to the house if I were you, But, Keep in mind, They get 'HUGE' so be sure to put it in an area that allows the space, They totally stand out , Especially when they are blooming! Hummingbirds love to use them as resting/hiding spots! I've had times when birds have nested in them.
pixie 62560, Thankyou, Yes, The yellow unamed always blooms first before all the others. My Mock Oange is big, Yours must be humongus having been there for over twenty years! It must be a sight!
And I can imagine the smell! I've had the hydrangea about 8 years I think, And it just grows and grows and grows!
granpapa, Thankyou, I'm happy that you enjoyed them. :)
saraskeeper, Thanks! :) Not holding out, Just not much time for things. ~ I 'like' that DL you just posted, What is the name on it??? I look forward to seeing your other ones when they bloom!
That lollipop one is just BEautifull !!! What a nice mass!!!
Iris, That DL is from my seed, nameless I'm afraid.
I wanted to take a pic of a pretty one that opened today but my picture card was full. By the time I cleared it the flower was fading, tomorrow.
I counted 27 flowers on the Lollipop today, might be time to divide this Fall.
Here is something different, Kolrabi.
Andy P
