The planted purse..you girls got me all charged up..
first I hung it on the handle of the door.....

Then I moved it and hung it on the chair trellis..that is a purpleleaf clematis climbing up it.
The boots are below it..but the rabbits ate the lobelia that was planted in them..actually those impatiens were supposed to go in the boots..LOL
I'll move some other plant into the boots.

I like it there..you pass it on your way to the gazebo..and there is a fancy hat hanging on the other side....so we have hat, boots, and purse..sit down...(don't crush the clematis).....put the boots on, smack the hat on your head, and throw the purse over your shoulder.....and away you go....it tells a little story..LOL What a picture I have in my head...

I know I am nuts!

Cheers,
Carol

Far from it, Starzz ... A wonderfully lively garden tale.

Tis merely genuine improvisational structuring .. with a garden embellishment!
Isn't this the effect .. that many of us desire that our gardens to render to others, that stroll though -?-

(we should know that you'd manifest & execute such concepts so easily!)

((huggs))

HA!! I've already got the rest of the gang on the look-out for me .. 'till I can get to town!! .. heehee

I'm happy I could give you two a grin...
A little whimsy in a garden is fun for all.

I sat out there after cutting the grass..looking at the "planted purse"
and it made me smile.

Can't wait to show my daughter next time she visits.
It is her husband who enjoys gardening..so she hasn't gotten into it herself. ..yet...

This is so funny. I saw this thread long ago, but didn't have hens and chicks. What did my sister in law just give me? Yep. But I have no shoes.

The purses are PERFECT! Alas, I gave my Mom's to Goodwill. Now I'll have to buy them back!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

That's funny

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

I'm smiling! For now they're planted in the ground, but I'll always have them when I find something unique!

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Send us a pic when you find the "perfect" purse to plant. :)

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Definately!

Thanks Kim....just a bit of fun...

Well it's the end of Summer. This is what my sneakers look like today. Not quite as much growth as I had hoped for but good enough to do another pair next Spring.

Lookin' Good!
Just makes me smile...

This is my planted purse and boots..
I have Creeping Jenny in the boots

Thumbnail by Starzz

Carol you are good nuts. I love your inventiveness, originality. This thread is full of wonderful ideas.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Starzz, I see your impatiens did well in the purse. Much better than the ones planted in one of those hanging plastic bags I see on my walks.
Thanks for the update.
The boots look great, too.

Thanks ..
the rabbits don't eat the creeping jenny in the boots..they kept eating the impatiens when I had them in the boots.
So now the impatiens are too high for them to get at..and they have done well..a nice bright spot in the shade.
A little bit of amusement when I have people come to the garden.

I thought you all might be interested in this site too. Love your ideas. I think I'd hang the hat on the door just like a wreath put a purse with a shorter strap on the door knob and set the shoes at the bottom of the step. Make the items more of a focal point.

Wow! do I have shoes. I bought a pair of those wooden shoes from Holland at a Thrift store. They were not cheap cost me ten bucks. I had this wonerderful idea to plant mint in them but realize there no holes for drainage. I got a pair of a kids rubber boats at the Swap last Sunday. ..and I got a Kionda , that woven purse from west Africa, they were really big in the 80's ... and I thought I needed pots. lol Gotta figure out how I am goingto drill holes in those Holland boots.....?

Every gal needs a drill! If you don't have one yet, here's the project that justifies the
expenditure. LOL

Dallas, TX

TammyI bought a drill a two or three years a go ... a Ryobi 7.5. I did not realize what wrong with it until I tried to put Trellis's up on the fence. It dont have enough power, one of the guys down at Ace told me ... shoot! its only good for screwing screws back in place. Christmas I am buying myself that 18.7? I thought I wanted a Drimmel, but the guy at Ace say they are only good for hobbies an stuff ... no big jobs. So you see I am into it! lol

A girl needs her tools! Go for the good cordless one... you will be surprised how often you will end up using it. One of my first power tools was a sander. I refinished the wood floor in our entry so I got a lot of use out of it. I have a dremel and power screw driver and they don't work for big jobs. I am fond of dewalt tools. They seem to do better than a lot of the other brands. My dad bought the set of cordless tools with the skill saw and it was fabulous when we were renovating out kitchen and bath. no cords to get in the way.

Good luck with the tools.
