2nd Annual Southern Cal RU, July 8th 2006

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Dovey,
It's taken me 34 years to know what works best with this one, I wish someone had given ME lessons. He IS good; right now building me a new trailer for hauling mulch, potting soil, etc. Gave my truck to my son and I don't want any more large trucks on the property, they tend to run over my plants and sprinklers. Besides, 1 yard at a time is about all I can handle anymore. Isn't gardening supposed to keep us young?! Oh, Weegy, I'm sorry, it's even hotter where you are. Far too hot for getting any work done outside. You have air conditioning? You lucky girl.

It means hugs to you dovey...no you are not mean anymore!! We were just kids back then, kids are mean!

Columbus, OH(Zone 5b)

I'm teasing you...
It was fun to see you again.
BTW how was the birthday party?
*hugs* back at ya!

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

The birthday party was great...I was too full to eat but managed to scarf up some cake!
Gypsy, wish I was in Fallbrook...supposed to be HOT today and yes, I'll be staying in the A/C! You don't want my electric bill...I almost fainted when I opened it! Keep telling myself, "self, it's only 3 months out of the year."
Hope all are staying cool.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Weegy, that's what I try to tell myself about my water bill....and I know if I had A/C I'd have it on the minute the temp went over 72! My bill would be outrageous, on the other hand, we've always grown and used wood for heat, so I try to think that both lack of A/C and heat offset my water bill. We usually end up shopping for something in Temecula at least 3 days a week, but when it gets this hot we tend to go toward, Vista, Carlsbad, Oceanside. So much better weather there! Why is it that everytime we go somewhere and see something new that we come home wanting to revamp the entire yard? I've never used agapanthus because they're so everywhere, but went to an estate sale this am and the green grass and these HUGE agapanthus looked soooo cool and wonderful. Anybody know who would have the cheapest 5 gal or larger aga's...WalMart? Lowe's? DH keeps wanting grass, tell him we don't have room for grass, but it did look really vibrant and green and so cool and inviting.

It's been 105*, 104*, and 105* since I got back home. I need a shade house for my entire garden... and me, too. Oh, my, I had forgotten how extremely hot it feels at those temps. Feel so sorry for my plants.

Fell asleep with the swamp cooler running and woke up chilled, figured I'd check in at Dave's while enjoying the cool. Wish I had some grass that felt cool and inviting. Not bad enuff to fret over it though. LOL

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

It is too hot up here in the 'Pungent Sound' as well. Some relief in sight, but not enough, soon enough. Haven't seen a post from drdon for awhile. Wasn't there a foal due about now. Did anybody get a picture of the Arch at the RU ? Y'all keep cool down there. Remember, Tonic water with a bit of Gin does wonders at preventing Malaria and other heat related maladies.lol

Hi Robert,

I was wondering about Don also. He checked in when his internet was back working and then he vanished again.

Holy Moly has it been hot down here this past 3 days!!!. I heard that Temecula had a big storm on Sat. and I thought of Don and Pam immediately. Can you imagine if our RU had been that Sat.?

I did hear that his foal was born the week after the RU, but I don't know the particulars.

The Arch has not been worked on, so we didn't get a picture of it...sorry.

I hope he checks in soon.

Donna, I talked to Don and Pam on the telephone yesterday and they are fine. Don's working double shifts because of Pam's back injury, so he doesn't really have much time for DG, but he's in good spirits as always.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Don is just a doll, isn't he? I hope Pam is doing better now. What special people they are.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Hi Donna & Elena, thanks for the update. Trying to keep up with everything, especially in all the heat is a daunting task. Glad to hear he is in good spirits and hope Pam is on the mend.

Weegy, don't know that I'd refer to Don as a "doll", but yes, they are really special people. lol

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Yes, Don is a doll!

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10a)

Dr. Don is awesome and so is Pam! I didn't realize Pam had a back injury, she was just so nice at the roundup.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

She got in a bad car accident, kanita. I'm still sending you the iris called Ka-Nee-Tah! Are you in the addy exchange?

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10a)

Thanks Weegy. Yes I am.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Okey dokey!
