LOL, don't most of us, and hope to avoid all the "homework"??
Coffee and...Part 42...! :-D
What a story, yikes!
welcome to my world Maria I have been following that story from the start as another one he wrote before and he always leaves us hanging!
Driving me nuts!!!!!!
How are you by the way :-)))
Anne
Doing much better, Anne, ty what a story!!
Hi all!
Okay - I tried to catch up best I can.
Molly - hope you get the moving logistics worked out and I want to help plan! I love to do that - not good at the execution part - but love the planning and dreaming.
Darius - well on the landlord! I sure hope you find something soon. Sending good thoughts.
Maria - glad you're feeling better....
And to everyone else I haven't mentioned by name - hello and God Bless!
Well - I'm a bachelorette for 10 days. Sent DH off to Colorado this afternoon. I know his plane has arrived in Denver. He's driving to his brother's in Colorado Springs - then he'll be back in Denver Mon-Thurs for a certification class (concrete inspection) - and then back to Colorado Springs for more hiking and fun with brother - back home on the 30th. So - what did I do this afternoon? Well - we have a new shopping center that opened Wednesday - rather ritzy for our end of town - and I really enjoyed it. Spent too much money - but as my Dad always said - "100 years from now we won't know the difference"!....next month is a different thing......LOL
I received by copy of "Dark Waters" today (by our own Play_Cofi) - may start that tonight...but first have to watch Sci-fi - Firefly is on.
Later all!
Marcia
Betsy read the link above thread playa started first and get him to continue driving us crazy with suspense
Playa can be so very cruel!! :-))))
He may continue if we plead!!!!
Magoobu - I was just there.....is your skin crawling....I'm just laughing!!! ;-)
I CAN'T take that room another night! I dream I am there--- cannot let in on the story but ALL go read he is a master!!!
Betsy you devil telling him to keep us on pins and needles:0)))
HA HA HO HO HEE HEE - ain't I a stinker?
yes!!! :-))))))
I have been following this forever it seems and always left hanging what I should do is unwatch the thread and check in again 4 days later LOL
never happen magoobu!!! None of us already hooked could "unwatch" at this point!
Okay, who else do we have that lives in PR to help us out??? DW surely wouldn't help. Or would she???
BB, just talked to my landlord and so far it looks like an amicable parting. I still have to find someone to come and dig the few plants I want to keep so I can pot them up... will take them to my sis's in FL next month and heel them in for their "winter"... LOL.
OH TGIF you are so right God help us all we are hooked to the end and then he will start another..... I hope....:----)))))
Oh I tried d-mailing Knot and will see but she sides by her man and laughs along with him when we want more!!!!
He HAS to!
darius, get what you can and get out, we'll replace what you miss - hope you find your little piece of heaven on earth soon.
Well I can't blame her either. I wouldn't want to upset a man that has that good of an imagination especially if I lived with him.
Please PC, we are craving more, more, more.
Darius, are you trying for that area or are you wanting some place else?
to get to him you must post on strangers thread or dmail we all must wait if he has a mind to keep us in limbo:-((((((
Oh this is not the first time and I fear it will not be the last!!!
edited my oh my the typos

Casey, both my sister and I want to move back to Boone, NC. I lived there several years, as did she, just different years. Our mother lived there summers and then year-round for 40+ years.
Problem now is that it's a high-ticket tourist area, but we want a small farmstead, not a $300K log home with a view.
darius,
For just 1.5 million you can have this 10 bedroom/10.5 bath! ;-D
http://www.homes.com/Content/ListingDetail.cfm?City=BOONE&State=NC&FirstRec=1&Radius=0&Bedrooms=&FullBaths=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&PriceRange=&AmenitiesList=&PropType=%20&TotalRecs=68&PropIdList=31828083,28319850,7541228,25943051,27830858,23225786&PropId=7541228
I would love to have something like this, but money is an issue....
jasmerr, even IF I had that lind of money, that's not a house I would want. Fun to look at, though! I'm a woman with simple tastes... kinda, LOL.
darius,,,,,can I assume that you are considering living with your sister, again?
Hap
Hap, yes and no. Short-term I will come and stay with her in Kissimmee for probably Jan-April. BUT whatever house we buy (assuming it goes through this time) will absolutely have to have a private living space for me... a rental unit with a written agreement. Or at the minimum, living quarters on opposite sides of the house.
I'm still wary.
Kissimmee I have been there beautuful!!!
Have you considered opposite sides of the town? I faintly remember that I shouldn't remember what happened last time.....yes?
Off to bed, all you night owls....need my beauty sleep so I can get up and go on the cruise....with the new wave, I have no idea where they will take us. Our plan was to go from here to the Panama Canal. But as it looks now, that is right throught Hell's Kitchen. How is England this time of year?
Nite George.....
Yes, Kissimmee is nice... my sister actually lives SW in a bedroom community of Poinciana... flat and drecky.
Hap, you are right!
We drove through Boone I think. We were suppose to be going to Johnson City from Rockhill but thought we were lost and turned around. Not sure if it was or not.
Darius I am with you, I wouldn't want a 10 bedroom house. It would take me 10 hours everyday to clean it and I would have no fun. Anyways I have noticed the more rooms you have in your house the more your distant relatives call and pop in.
The house is a good size in Clover, and we are getting alot more land then we originally planned on. We figured it was best to have to much land and then sell it if need be then to not have enough and not be happy because we couldn't purchase more without moving. My youngest is just excited as can be because he will have a place to ride his quad without needing to beg Dad to cart him out somewhere away from town.
Casey
Casey, your new place looks great! Have fun with it when you move there. Having land will be so good for gardening your heart out!!!
Darius, sorry to hear that you have to move but maybe now you can get a real place of your own and you can have a real garden too!
Meezer5, sent your plant this morning. So should get it in 2-3 days.
Mg, now, now! Watch what you say about naming Casey's new place. Be nice, hehe!
Bal, love you new dog pics. The baby is so cute and tiny. But bet she will start going potty where she is supposed to soon. Just takes training as you well already know.
Hi to the rest of you. This thread is so so long so can't say it all to everyone.
Have been busy today. Ended up buying 50 Ice Follies daff. bulbs at KMart for $5 which I thought was pretty good deal. Got more wood for that retaining wall from the discount place so have enough to finish it now. Only spent $30 on that wood which was equal to about 30' x 4' worth. Then spent a couple hours talking to my son about him wanting to get a loan to redo his motor in his car. Didn't get back to my retaining wall until later this afternoon. Got a few more pieces in place tho. Hope to finish it all this weekend plus get it filled in with more good homemade compost and soil.
Made a very, very good homemade cream of tomatoe soup. I picked some tomatoes and onions out of the garden and decided to make some soup. Had a recipe from my grandmother's cook book which is about 80 years old. Love to browse thru that book! The soup turned out so good that I had two bowls of it.
So there is more in the pot for you all. I know it is late for most of you guys, but have some for your lunch tomorrow. Leftovers are even better.
Later, Carol (DR)
jasmerr - who want 10 1/2 bathrooms to clean??????????
I find 2 1/2 plenty.
Carat - nice house pics shown earlier. (Bet IT doesn't have 10 bathrooms) LOL You'll enjoy building gardens around it.
Just spent the evening making a big batch of stuffed baked potatoes. I fill them with chopped broccoli, carrots, onions, jalopena pepper, cheddar cheese (some, not a lot), fat free sour cream. I chop up all the veggies in my food processor, cook them in the microwave and mix in with the mashed up potatoes. Fill the shells and bake. Then I freeze them and bag them. Makes a great, fast meal when I'm in a hurry. Also takes a whole evening when I do it, but the time savings later are worth it.
Maria sounded as though she was feeling better. I sure hope so.
Good night all.
Ann
Carol - I saw someone was looking for a good tomato soup recipe on the recipes forum. Did you post yours there?
Ann
Hi all,
Yeah Carat! Love to hear good news! Enjoy your new place.
Darius, "drecky" LOL! I haven't heard that term since my (first) college days ---an unfortunately LONG time ago. I reallly do hope that things have finally hit bottom for you and are about to head UP.
Maria, yes I was listening to all the news updates about Taunton, but had no idea you were that close to the area. Like I said before, I really ought to look at a map once in a while! Glad you're feeling halfway okay now. We're still sniffling, etc. here but it seems that the worst is over.
I don't think that most of the people who hang out on this thread are all that involved in maintaining their own websites, but if there's anyone here who does, you might be interested in some free on-line classes. I've been taking them and have just finished a complete overhaul of one of my websites. It seems to have made a big difference already as the site has gone from a "cobweb" that just sat there for over a year with no action to one that has generated two sales in the past two weeks. I know that's not a big volume (yet), but it's sure a big change for me! There's a new round of classes starting this coming Monday. If anyone is interested, please send me a d-mail and I'll be glad to give you the link and any info I can pass along. I have no affiliation with this except for having taken these lessons myself.
All the menu items you folks have been discussing sounded a whole lot better than the frozen pizza we heated up for supper tonight, but this is our late night --- we don't close the store until 8 PM and I just didn't have any energy left.
I checked out Playa's story. It was quite enthralling until I realized that it wasn't real--- then it lost a lot of its appeal for me. I love SciFi novels that I can get totally immersed in so that I can forget about the real world entirely for a while.
There's lots more people here I'd like to talk with and plenty of topics I've let go by the board, but folks I'm soooo tired. I stayed up past midnight last night waiting for a call from a customer ---- who DIDN'T call after all because she realized it was quite late on this side of the country. Oh well, we connected this morning. All's well that ends well, I suppose.
Guess I better write that recipe down then. Will go to see which post it is. Thanks.
Well the neighbors and the fish smell have gone!! Boy was it ever good. Tried a new hush puppy recipe tonight, and it is to die for. This one had sour cream in it, plus the buttermilk, corn meal, sugar and onion. Everybody says my hush puppies are the best they have eaten, but this one was even better!!
Carat, congrats on the contract!! Now instead of being a westerner, you are going to be a south easterner. Big change. Weather wise at least. Do you have winter clothes? Best be shopping for some.
Viola Ann, do the potatoes freeze well? That sounds like a very good idea, to make and freeze for quick meals.
DaisyRuffles, I want that tomato soup recipe. I just love it, and make it often during the winter.
Jasmeer, who wants a 10 bedroom and 10.5 bath house. Besides keeping it clean, that sounds like a relative drop in nightmare!!
Betsubug, enjoy that bachelorette time. We all need a break from time to time, shopping sounds like a good way to fill the void.
Aria, so glad to hear that you are feeling better. Hope Wilma will give you the cold shoulder, and not cause any problems. Does the weak dam threaten you in any way?
Darius, wish I was closer, then I would come and dig your plants and get you ready to get moved. Hopefully, you and your sis will spend the time this winter investigating places that you can move. I hadn't moved for 27 years until DH and I built this house 10 years ago. I hate moving so bad, that I told him then, that if something happens that we can't get along, will hire a contractor to come in and build a wall down the middle, as I wasn't going any where!!
I haven't been followiing the playa story. I read his first one, and it kept me on edge until it was finished.
This week has been too busy to add any other reading. Started a new book tonight, read about 125 pages. I always make sure that I have reading material at hand. Especially sitting in waiting rooms of Dr. offices.
Well, I am off to bed, early I know, but slept so well last night, that I am going for a repeat. Plan to do some yard sales tomorrow, have been picking up some pretty flower pots recently. So going to see what I can find.
Sweet, fluffy dreams to all of you, If I am up early enough I will have something on the counter.
Night All
Dcat, here is the recipe. I posted it on the Recipe Forum too.
Yes, stuffed pototoes freeze great. ViolaAnn, I like that you put other things in your stuff potatoes. I haven't added things like you do but think I will next time I make them.
This recipe is from my grandmother's cookbook. It is a 1956 Better Crocker book.
Cream of Tomato Soup
Saute
1 t. finely chopped onion
in
2 T. butter
Stir in
3 T. flour
2 t. sugar
1 t. salt
1/8 t. pepper
Cook until smooth and bubly, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat.
Gradually stir in
2 cups tomato juice (here I put in the blender my freshly grown tomatoes to make up the 2 cups)(plus the carrots, basil, etc.)
Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil 1 min.
Add
2 cups cold milk
Heat rapidly to heating tempature.
Serve immediately.
4 servings
I made this recipe last nite with some of my homegrown tomatoes. I used both the regular size tomatoes and some SunGold cherry tomatoes. I used a leek instead of onion last nite. I have also used onions other times. I put in some homegrown carrots while it was cooking too for some crunch. I had some fresh basil leaves so snipped a few leaves in too.
It is very very good. I love it!
Night, Gracie.
Good Morning! Slept like a baby last night- even dreamed about my high school boy friend- man that was going back years!! (he ended up getting hooked on drugs, so no big loss!!)
Copied down that tomato soup - gonna give it a try today with grilled cheese sandwiches. Is it better than Campbells?
Man, who would want 10 bathrooms? yuck. I would like a different place. I've never had a new house- only someone elses that we moved into. I'd like something brand new for once. Will need to tell the kids to make sure they look for a new nursing home LOL But I'd have a hard time leaving my gardens and my gardening friend next door. Plus, we are close to grocery stores, home improvement, and the malls= what more could a gal ask! Our house is just outdated and the rooms are small - oh well - paid for tho!
VI- those potatoes sound wonderful. I love stuffed potatoes - is it a receipe or a just throw in kinda thing?
Darius - is the 'kid' coming with her?? yikes- hope not!! I love my sister to death, but wouldn't ever live with her- a week together is all either of us could stand.
defoe- yum fish - I've never made hush puppies- In fact I bought DH a deep fryer last xmas and he's never used it. Do you strain and reuse your oil? DS did that and I wondered how long it stays 'good'.
Maria- I love shopping at Kohl's!! Medium priced goods- I hate spending a lot of clothes unless I have a big shindig to go do. Our local Kohh's doesn't have a 'fancy dress' dept anyhow - just casual stuff. I get one funeral/wedding outfit a year- works well!! But I have a zillion of those fleecy tops - I could never wear them all - just can't pass one by!
No big plans today - lots of stuff I could/should do, but DGS is coming over to spend the morning and DS will be picking him up, so I imagine I will have two extra males for the day - I better think of something for the guys to eat!
Good Morning every body!
Sarv, what a nice morning to open up DG and at once and get big grinn on my face and laugh out loud just reading your post., you have no idea how much I appreciate that and how much I need that.
I live in a brand new house, but wish with all my heart I still lived in the old farm house, it was built in 1840, it even had a root cellar and an out house, a carriage house, a huge barn and chicken coup a mille long or so it seemed all standing on 100 acres. It was my husband's grand father' home though he was not a farmer but retired there from the city and where my MIL grew up.
I miss all my gardens, when I drive by I can see the new owner loves gardening is is taking good care of all that I planted for more than 50 years.
I can see Kohl's is all over the states, what wooly things do you mean, Sarv?
Daisy, I am one of those grandmother who has that very same betty Crocker cook book, you should see it, it is fallling apart and a big hunk from the red cover is missing where one of our puppies got a hold of it lol. that recipe you posted is right in there but I don't remember ever using it.
Slept very well also, after I finally fell asleep and for the first time in weeks a cough did not wake me up once!
See you later
Maria
