We're getting new threads pretty regular, huh, Julie.....and notice....I have not said a word.....
(((((HUGS)))
Have fun on your trip...and I sure hope you miss that hurricane.
~julie~
Have a great trip Hap.
Threads this length I can handle!!
Glad you are feeling better Maria, just don't go and overdo things now you are. Something like that knocks the stuffing out of you and it takes a while to get it back.
The English language, as spoken in the UK, is nearly as difficult as Chinese! My grand parents lived in a village called Brough, pronounced Bruff, so why not spelt that way? Cirencester is pronounced 'Sis-sesster' and Warwick as Wa-rick, and to cap them all Towcester is Toaster. For heavens sake why!!
My native tongue but I never could work out the whys!!
Y'alls have a good day now.
Carol
I know English is a puzzle to many, it's no wonder immigrants have a hard time with it. Through, tough, though, cough, etc. a challenge even for those born here! Somebody asked last thread about Vitamin E. Apparently there has been a link established between vitamin e and heart failure, just in women, not men. So I'll squeeze out the oil and use it for body lotion...! And I just bought a big jug at Sam's .
Ann, is your swim equipment going to have added body and a lovely scent? LOL I edited to add that comment after I went back and read the last thread!!

...and *they* complain about OUR pronunciation! LOL
~julie~
Whoa!!! M5...is was just a few years back when I was *told* to use V.E. *for* my heart problems! (Yeah....I know...and eggs have too much cholesterol...coffee has too much...carb are GOOD for you...when we ever get the idea that it's really because they are controlling the STOCK market! LOL (...and they call SHEEP dumb!) :-D
~julie~
Anne - that was a good one - caused a belly laugh here!!
Dr Sarv here believes in everything in moderation. Just when you decided not to eat/take something, they say it will extend your life/or kill ya. I am on an exercise kick now that I watched Opra last night. Told the gal at the work out joint that I was going to become a lifetime member.. I actually do feel better after I get done...just getting there is the problem.
Stopped at our local DW store and they have canned 10 employees this week - restructuring they say. However they are all full timers with benefits - hiring part timers. Some people have been there for 20 yrs and this is a small town. I tell ya, I wouldn't shop there at all if I was one of the ones that got the shaft. Manager says he doesn't want the small town feel in the store anymore (ya knew the checkout person and bagger by first names etc) Wants it more 'big town' - oh big mistake in my mind!!
Maria= good that you are feeling better. Sure hope Wilma doesn't make a stop to visit you guys. It is sunny and gorgeous here today - clouds rolling in this afternoon.
Watching Martha Stewart - making halloween cupcakes- times like this I miss having young kids around - DH just doesn't go for all that stuff!
Speaking of things "good for you" I have brought over a very good fudge and are you ready for this? - it has velveta cheese in it!!! It is sooooo good and sooooooooo rich that I don't make it very often, but right now the battle is on to put weight on my DH.
(6 feet 2 inches weighting in at 114 1/2 pounds!) So, lots of goodies to snack on around here! Ya'll help yourselves, there's plenty.
If anyone wants the recipe for the fudge I'll post it.
Its beautiful here this morning. I have everything open that will open and I'm loving this weather! I hope you all have a wonderful day
tgif- I had that fudge years ago - forgot about it till you mentioned it. Post the receipe. Is it better for ya that regular fudge?
Ann, I think ya should have went in the pool with the swimsuit. You would have had THE MOST bubbling personality of anyone in months.
Wilma or not, still have plenty to do on this day off. I went to chat for a bit but cut myslef off before using the whole morning up doing that.
Need to make some calls and get the well man arranged, the bank with the closing docs. and get out and dig some plants into pots and ready them for transport.
Also need to check into household moving options. I thought about a u-haul truck, but with the price of gas and how is one person to drive 3 vehicles? Other option would be the Pods, but not sure if they deliver to the "sticks".
Well, thinking and talking about it is getting nothing done. Off to make some calls.
Oh yes, I also want to do a planting plan at the new place. I am no good at landscape design, I practice chaos in the garden. Will post a graph in my changes II thread if anyone wants to offer suggestions. That will be later today.
Thanks,
Molly

TO ALL FUDGE ADDICTS
"Special" Chocolate
1/2 pound Velveeta Cheese
1/2 pound margarine
1/2 Tbsp. Vanilla
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 pounds (2 boxes) powdered sugar
2 cups chopped nuts
Melt cheese and margarine together in double boiler. Add vanilla.
Pour into large bowl. Mix in cocoa. Gradully add powdered sugar, stirring until all sugar is mixed in. Add nuts.
Spread onto greased plate or large pan. (13x9) Chill and cut.
I can't very well say its better for you, but its good. I also came across a batch of "no bake" cookie/candy recipes that I'll be happy to share - haven't tried them yet but plan to use some for Holiday company.
I long ago gave up on trying to keep up with what was not good for me. I just keep eating what I want, 'cause I figure sooner or later, "they" will change it back and say its good for me!
Just a few notes that I remembered I wanted to say...
Maria, I'm SO glad you're feeling better today. Just remember not to 'overdo'...keep resting until you find your strength again.
Molly...Iet us know when you've posted your chart. I love watching things go from a blank canvas...and all the ideas that go along with it.
Hi IO1! Glad to know you're lurking with us today.
M5...since when are you and Sarv in 'different corners' of the same 'state'? Did Sarv move to WISCONSIN??? LOL
Dcat...those greenhouse units are 'Flowerhouse' brand. They look more like 'pup-tents' than green houses. But I loved mine! DH built me a counter height 'deck' platform lond enough to hold three of them (4 X 8' each X 3 = 24' long). And believe it or not, after I got all my cuttings, wintered over plants, and new IBFL seedlings in them, I'd used ALL that space. (Note to M5: There's a trick to getting those little buggers BACK in the bags. One trick is to have someone ELSE do it! But if that doesn't work, you DO need a second person to hold the bag once you get it folded. The spring steel frame has a tendency to want to go its own way. But it *is* possible!)
This morning I'm thinking 'DAHLIAs'. Carol (dr) I'm ready when you are...but *please* don't send until you get MY money!! LOL
Got something I have to do, right now.
BBL
(=Be back later)
~julie~
Well everyone is chatty here today. I was up at 4:30, arm was hurting so bad. Took ibuprophen, thought I could go back to bed, but didn't relieve the pain so stayed up. Had to take DM to have her flu shot today. While I was out, went to Walmart, and to the grocery. I have everything in and put away. I plan on taking some more coleus cuttings this afternoon. Maybe a wee nap too! That fudge recipe sounds good and easy to boot.
Will check in later.
Well, Julie, I know you are ready but my dahlias aren't ready yet! They are still blooming to town. They are still happy. The rain yesterday kind of melted them a bit but.... The blooms are much smaller than normal but still blooming. No frost in the forcast for quite awhile so....Who knows when I will be digging. Need that frost to kill or at least die down the leaves. Last year, I didn't dig much until Thanksgiving time and that is late.
So you will just have to be patient now, lol. But am glad that you are thinking "dahlias". I look at them every day outside my kitchen window and love them.
Molly, am glad to see that things are coming along with your new place. Do want to tell you and everyone else that the 'Pink Frosty' brug. opened up very big yesterday. Took a pic and will send it to you. But one thing, isn't it to be fragrant??? No smell at all.
That fudge sounds very interesting. If I told my kids what was in it, I don't think they would eat it tho, lol.
I have on the counter that blueberry crumble cake again. I just love it and wanted something warm last nite since it was rather chilly. Have a piece for breakfast.
Off to work.
Later, Carol (DR)
Carol,
Frosty Pink does have a faint fragrance and you may need more than one bloom to get the essence of it. Now, I found second night of 40 blooms to be when they were the sweetest. Charles Grimaldi, on the other hand has a much stronger scent.
Julie, the site plan is posted now. (it's as primitive as me but the best a no talent can do)
Oops, just remembered some plants I forgot.
Molly
:^)))
Julie, I'm sure I've moved Sarv over to Wisconsin more than once, she's directly across the lake from me, and we often wave to each other on clear days. LOL As far as folding up that greenhouse, my first option is always let someone else do it, but there wasn't anybody here but me. After it whacked me upside the head a couple of times I said to $^#% with it. Doesn't take up any more space flat than it would stuffed in the bag, so I don't care.
Sarv, I am not familiar with DW... Is that a local market? I agree that these small businesses don't know how valuable their old employees are, and how much it means to a customer to be recognized and greeted by name. The deli I stopped at yesterday is like that, the very elderly owner who is still working, saw me come in and gave me a big smile and a wave, and I haven't been in there for a couple of years. My DDs and I used to go there often. Not only that, but after I ordered, the waitress came over and asked if I wanted the morning paper to read while I waited.! So who wants a big city feel? Not me. Even in a sizable city, there are "small town" proprietors who value their clientele.
Gotta run to the store, DD and I are meeting my DIL at the new house tomorrow and we are bringing lunch (and chairs!) and I need fresh fruit for salad. She has to wait for the cable guy to come so we figured we'd keep her company. My DD is making me a birthday cake!! No one has made me a birthday cake since I was in my teens. I am thrilled. DH coughed up a card this morning. Picked the same one he gave me two years ago. LOL I guess he must have liked Mickey and Minnie kissing.
I think the PODS are a great idea, Molly, why wouldn't they want to bring it out to the boonies? Safer there than in town, to my way of thinking.
Would you belief I am not dressed yet?? I don't it is 1:15 PM
Maria
Maria...Me either...LOL and it's 12:15 p.m. Better go get dressed. BRB
~julie~
Molly - I was WEARIN the swimsuit. The things covered with shampoo were my undies, towel, comb and hairbrush, goggles and everything else in the bag.
tgif - dunno about that fudge. I won't do very well in the weight loss challenge. lol
Went out and bought myself a new fridge. ;-) Freezer on the bottom and crispers big enough for a decent sized head of lettuce. Should have it in 9 days (Saturday delivery).
Just got interrupted to take a phone call. The US Embassy here wants my handbell choir to play at their Christmas luncheon on Dec. 9. Should be fun. The building is like a fortress; so most of us have never had a chance to get inside of it. We thought we were going to do it last year, but got bumped by the choir from a local private girls; school.

I took a couple of pics of trees on my street. The colors are at their peak right now with leaves dropping fast.
This one is my next door neighbours' tree. This year it is the most striking on the street.
While I was typing the last you gobs have been busy. The heat last summer and LACK of rain last summer is what has affected our fall colors. This is MY back yard maple - generally quite red.
This is what it looks like now. Still pretty but now as nice as last year.

Wonderful colors, Ann, that 's what ours should look like but as you can see they do not
Maria
Rainy days, bad back and constant watching the little 'free-range' kid who hasn't yet learned that the great outdoors is the best place to potty. There has been so much action on this channel that catching up is impossible.
The sun is out now and there is a chance I can put in a couple more sections of fence. Then dig up a very large kiwi, climbing rose, plum tree roots that are sprouting new trees and a Virginia Creeper. Hope My friend will take the kiwi and creeper for his 5 acre spread. Need to take a hammer to the laser printer to see if that will make it work again. It angers me when IT decides to flash all those colored lights in defiance of my wish to copy something as critical as the recipe for the Velveeta Fudge.
More later, the kid needs to go out again.
I just posted a 'GOB-spin off' thread about the Green house units. If you're interested here's the link
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/552115/
About the 'spin-off' thread. I decided to try something that several regulars didn't want me to do...post pictures in a thread outside our main 'sessions'. I've done this hoping that maybe the idea will catch on and, by doing so, will help keep our sessions easier to download for a longer period of time. (We've become such a gabby group that it's getting to the point where we're nearly ready for a 'DAILY' gab-session. LOL)
At any rate, those of you who aren't interested in the greenhouses, don't have to download my pics. hehehe
Carol...I had to LOL at your remarks about me having to be patient. We're having the same kind of late frost season here. I'm *waiting* to cut down my cannas and a couple of dahlias so I can get them into storage. I thought I was going to be able to do that a few days ago...but now they've pushed that hard frost completely out of the forecast. Don't worry...LOL...I'll still be 'thinking Dahlias' whenever you decide to dig.
Maria...meant to tell you a little while ago how GOOD it is to hear that you're making progress with that 'bug'. Can't wait until you're "all better!"
~julie~
P.S. PLEASE don't take my comments about posting my pics in another thread as a personal comment! I LOVE seeing all the pics that everyone posts here...and I don't mind starting new threads whenever they're needed. It's just my own personal quirk about *me* not adding to download times.
Wow, you all have been quite the chatty ones this morning. I woke up with nighmares last night, spent most of the night tossing while to get back to sleep. Made hubby breakfast and then sat down on the couch to check out Wilma. Woke up a little while ago with a stiff neck now.
So that is what trees look like. Wow. We only have green or dead trees here. Well the owners have countered back with an offer. I am waiting for the fax to come through now. Gosh this is stressful.
Bal, what a beautiful addition to your family. No wonder you have not been on. Everyone has been looking for you.
Maria, I am so glad you are feeling better.
Ann, sorry to hear your day didn't start off to well. I hope it gets better.
There is a small country type store in California on a highway we use. I have only been there a few time but the last time I went in the owner asked how my parents were getting along and remember that she loved a certain type of sausage. When I told him of my parents passing he came around the corner and gave me a hug. My mom shopped at the same grocery store through all its name changes over 35 years. I would place money on it that not one person in there has a clue she is gone or do they care. M5 I think your DW store is making a huge mistake.
Good point Julie I will keep to no pictures here
How is everyone just catching up on all the goings on here!
Kids all over playing here gotta run but wil return
Have a Good day everyone
Anne
Maria - there are a few trees that look like that. But the colorsfor most are MUCH more subdued than usual - witness my tree that is yellow with only a touch of red as opposed to red this year.
And they are later than usual. But then so is our frost which we are likely to have for the first time tonight. But usually most trees will have dropped their leaves by this time.
Ann
Anne...I Honestly *didn't* mean that no one else should post pics here. HONESTLY!!! I hope you didn't take it as personal affront to pics...I didn't mean that at all.
And Robert, you were posting you PIC as I wrote my post. I hope you didn't take it personally, either....and that goes for the gorgeous pics of the autumn foliage, too. I feel bad. :-(
I'm a 'link follower' and usually clink on anything that gets posted here...and, most times, I'll leave a comment IF I have time.
Right now...I'm burning the onions that were supposed to be 'carmelized'. :-O
~julie~
I am certain, Julie, you did not mean it that way. I posted the pictures just so you can see how awful colors are this year, tthought you'd like to know, they are really not what I would want to post in photos for uh's and ah's and since I never look into pets I am so happy to see Robert's baby here.
Maria
Y'all ... Julie was helping me out with some info that everyone else knew about. She was kind enough to start a new thread so pics and info would be brought to others ottention on a subject that didn't belong here. I know she doesn't want you to stop posting those beautiful pics of the season! ... Elaine
Thanks Maria and Elaine...I sure didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings or make anyone feel uncomfortable about posting pics here.
I might add one more thing while I'm on this topic...I'd like to see threads that y'all post elsewhere on DG...please leave us a link here so we can find you. Please...! :-D
The roast is in the oven, the potatoes are peeled and ready to go in along with the carrots in about an hour. You're all invited for pot roast and German Chocolate Cake for dinner!
~julie~
(Who didn't know, until I read it on Martha Stewart's web site, that Bee Balm actually likes PART Shade! Why didn't any of you tell me that?? :-D)
Elaine...I'm not sure. But I do know that the plant I grew from seed last year grew like crazy the beginning of the year (formed a nice shrubby plant) bloomed for only a short while, then began to die back.
I was just so amazed that I'd missed the fact that Monarda will not only tolerate partial shade but, according to the Stewart info, *thrives* in that condition. (Geez! And I've been *trying* to locate plants that will do well in one particular bed. Leave it Martha..."That's a GOOD thing"..Stewart! LOL)
~julie~
