Coffee and...Part 38...! :-D

Memphis, TN(Zone 7b)

Bal - Tinker is such a beautiful dog! Lucky you. And thanks for the kind words.....

So -- ALL - as you can see by the time of this post - MY TURN to be first in the morning because I woke up and can't go back to sleep. Figured I might as well goof off rather than just lay there looking at the clock every 2 minutes.

I am feeling better this morning. It just feels like the area around my gallbladder is swollen - uncomfortable - but better than it was. I'll survive I guess.

MG - I LOVE the idea of a GOB roundup (I'm assuming you're gonna include GOBettes too!). Let's get serious about it - I'm game.

Later all!

Marcia

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Good grief!! Do you all post when I am napping? Took me forever to read all of this!! Just think of what it will be like when rotten weather really sets in! We'll have to start a new thing every day!

Defo- my arm is somewhat better - not like I want it. I don't know what is working - the blue emu junk I apply or the aleve I take in the morning. Still hurts, but I can tolerte it. My neck is giving me fits now - if it's not one thing, it's another with this old body.

BB - I can't believe they just won't yank that GB out. At least you made it thru the test without losing your cookies. I always worry about doing that in the wrong place!

For those with the crud- make sure you wash your hands = we don't want it passed thru cyberspace. Hope it passes quickly - seems like it is striking early this year. Do you gals/guys get the flu shot? I used to get it yearly, but I swear, every year I got sick after I had it - body aches, chills, general rotten feeling. So for several years, I didn't get it and felt fine. I know they say it is a dead virus they inject you with, but something was making me sick and I'd had enough!

Glad the birdie flew off Darius - we had a hummer come in our house this summer and I was freaked out!

I'm overwhelmed....I collect so much stuff... I don't have room anymore in my house and it is driving me nuts. DH put up the plant shelves in our big bedroom and it is so claustrophobic in there now - I can hardly walk in there! Plus he moved all the extra furniture into my tiny bedroom and honest to pete, I only have a walkway to the bed. I have two bedrooms upstairs that are even worse....I'm going to tackle one of them today. Plus with a load of company coming, I get in a frenzy.

Plus with the holidays on the horizon, I get in a 'black hole' anyhow!

Time for some breakfast...did someone say rhubarb crunch was on the counter?? Think I'll make myself an egg - that sounds good for a change. Anyone want one?

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Good morning everyone! It is still raining I think it is making up for all the rain we did not have causing that awful drought we had in the summer and it suppose to be like that for the rest of the week, how depressing, I am supposeto walk a lot for my back, can't you just seem me with an umbrella hiking down the street? neighbors will say what is Maria doing in that weather and she is sick to boot? Well, I will not give them that chance but I do feel much better this morning, guess just resting helped :-))

That is a nice picture of your Tinker, Robert, when arre you getting his companion?

Glad you feel better too, BB, still think oabout that ordeal you had to get through, and loved seeing your picture on the other thread, it is always nice to see a picture of a DG member.

Sarv just put everything that is in your way in one room, it won't matter what one room looks like but I am going to join you with an egg or two one of my favirite foods any style any way.

Pati is my name,
and "lurking" is my game,

but...............when Tinker's picture appears, I just come out of the woodwork to say Awwwwww!
Pati

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Holy smokes! Yup Sarv, I think they wait for us to fall asleep and then they run for their keyboards and post like crazy! Sounds like it's time for you to have a big rummage sale or make major donations to a women's shelter, or unload stuff on your kids. I redid my closet yesterday and have a big bag to take to the SA or Goodwill. Following the three year rule, if you haven't used it in 3 yrs. get rid of it. As soon as you do you will find a need for it, but that's a small price for uncluttering.

Photo was welcome, mg, didn't I say we were all slender and unwrinkled? That just proves it. The big smile is what counts! Would love to see that arboretum. And you cleaned your house, which inspires me to nominate you for Cleaning Queen for the day. And you got mulch for your MIL so that new bed is in super condition for next spring's growth!

The GOB round up sounds wonderful but I'm a little worried about that killer hill as you get into town! Plus, Mother's Day weekend would be a little troublesome as we have a slew of family birthday/anniversary celebrations on that weekend too. DD's bd, and anniversary, her DS's bd, and mother's day all lumped together. Not that you couldn't proceed without me......but then I'd be depressed all weekend and cake wouldn't cure it.

Robert, you must be getting really excited about the pup! Your lazy day sounds more like a whirlwind of activity! Makes me look like I've already gone into hibernation. LOL Polar Ice Cap comment will linger in my mind, maybe we should check it out...

Maria, I'm looking forward to eggs this morning too, immediately after they do my annual blood/liver/cholesteral screening. I hope I don't get the same tech I had last year, she had to poke around for five minutes before she finally hit the vein. I'm going to ask for someone else if I see her coming. Will see the dr. next week and she can scold me for my crummy triglicerides and tobacco habit. And maybe get a flu shot. They don't bother me. Didn't get one last year because of the shortage, but didn't get the flu either. Probably because I hardly see anyone in winter ...! No exposure means no bugs.

My golf partner helps out at her neighborhood school and she gets every bug that comes along! Children are dangerous.

BB, you're feeling better? That's good. Now follow Robert's advice and do something nice for yourself. And get the dang gb out, asap.

We see you lurking Pati...as long as you say hello once in a while we don't care...and I agree Tink is just adorable, makes you want to go give her a big smooch and a rub!

DD sent this to DS and DIL this morning, as Howard is one of her Goldens she won't be showing or breeding...Howard is, shall we say, not the sharpest knife in the drawer. The "Lumpstrung" name is leftover from a landlord fifty years back who couldn't pronounce my ex's last name....and DS and DIL just love Howard, because he is such a sweet dog.

"Deer Lumpstrungs,

Meezer. I had to laugh at that speech pronounciatian,. When I first arrived here, I was fluent in British english as I was taught by same teachers, so can you imagine meeting some one here talking that way? I was totally floored and and upset, thinking what language are they speaking, not the one I was taught LOL!!

Another story about getting blood samples out of me, it was absolutly too much, in those days one needed a blood test before getting married the nurse dried very hard to find a vain in my arm , but could not.
She finally went to my feet, nothing! Back to my hands again! It took her 27 times before she finally succeded. This happened again and again but not that often , only 3 or four times.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning. It's 44 and raining lightly. That might soften up the flower bed where I was digging some iris out yesterday. They are mostly one kind and I planted them there when I didn't have a lot of stuff and just wanted a flower bed full of something, well........ it's certainly full now! Most of them are blue, and I marked the yellow ones so they are going in 2 piles when I dig them out. I'll replant a small bunch of each and give the rest away or dump them. I managed to get almost half of the bed cleared out without hurting my sore fingers too much but trying to keep dirt out from under bandaids was useless. The fingers are feeling a bit better today, typing is easier this AM, or maybe I'm just lighter on the keys.

Robert, your Tinker is a beauty! Thanks for posting that photo. Let us know when you are getting the new pup. I hope to meet you when you go through Baker City, but I will be gone this weekend, Friday through Sunday so that might not work out. If you happen to stop for lunch in Baker City, the Geiser Grand is a great place to have lunch, a restored gold rush era hotel with a huge stained glass ceeling over the main dining area. The food is more than ordinary fare and I think you would enjoy it based on what you cook. It's on Main St downtown about 12 blocks from the freeway. www.geisergrand.com will get you information. Or, if you are into model trains, there is Sumpter Junction Restaurant about a block off the freeway with more ordinary types of food but the model train makes a trip around the inside of the building and possibly right past your elbow every few minutes.

I need to get breakfast going, etc. Have a great day, count your blessings instead of sheep (aches, pains, etc).

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

MG - If GOBettes are invited, I'm there (RU)! You're only about three hours from me.

Robert - Beautiful dog! I used to have a good friend and neighbor that had a dog that looked lots like Tinker; very well behaved too.

Sarv - I missed the eggs didn't I? I've been up for awhile, but didn't find the invitation early enough. I hope the aches and pains go away!

M5 - love the letter! Defoe thought I was strange when I mentioned in a previous post that I wrote a letter to my DD from her dog! LOL

Still chilly and overcast here - only 43 degrees and damp. The sheets have been so cold at night I put a heating pad under the covers for a few minutes last night. Slept like a baby!

Have a good day, everyone!

It's 11am and I am still in my pj's - still fighting with a headache that threatens to turn into a migraine. AND my ditzy sister just called and wants to change our yearly family get together to the week after it was scheduled. They are coming from another state, so we tend to work around them. grrrr And they can't come until evening. Sometimes I could just bean her. I am hosting it, so I have been in a tizzy figuring out how to get my house in shape and what food to serve (her dh can't have salt -what a pain!) Since it will be evening, I may just do BBQ's.

Crazy cat is driving me nuts today too!! She loves to be outside, but wants in for a couple of nibbles of food, then just as I lower my butt to the chair she is meowing at the door or scratching at the woodwork to get out. I even tried putting her food outside, but the coons came and ate it all!! My slider doors are a mass of cat paw/mud streaks.

I need to get dressed and go pick my neighbors grapes - a friend is coming to get them tonight. I wonder why I am picking them???? Oh well - gotta do something for others once in a while!

Maria= get yourself a treatmill - I have had one for years - it is mainly used as a clothes catcher, but occassionally I crank it on and walk a bit.

Anybody have Menards in their area? Wonderful coupons for halloween candy - gonna go there today myself and see if they have any left (probably not tho) and buy some big rubbermaid tubs for my summer clothes.

OK, I'm gonna sign off and move my arse and get something done.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Yes, Sarv, I shoould get one, my daughter already suggested it but do not know where to put it in my little house.
Maria

Boy am late here today and already almost done with another thread....What in heavens name is going to happen when I go on my cruise next week for 10 days......I'll miss everything.....boohoo

DD is here and off and about to see an old friend for a couple of minutes...Yes, she is the one that remodeled her garden earlier this year. No it's just about all dead....So sad.....

We will be going shopping later and then have a lite supper with DH..

Maria, ya might as well do what you want in life and not worry. You said you wouldn't let your children on the bikes. Well, my father-in-law died in bed...............he never had any fun.............so he might as well have been a little devilish.....I also mention that this would mean you shouldn't go to bed......it was dangerous to him....

Anyway... I want to LIVE until I die........(I'm just a wild and crazy kid....lol)

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Hey Sarv, you could call the Volunteers of America and have them put on an Estate Sale for you. They do it around here a lot. Just put all the 'keepers' in one room and they put on the sale and sell the rest!!! lol

M5, Howard has quite a talent or writing. Does he have an agent yet ?

Maria, I know how you feel about blood draws. Luckily there are two Techs at the clinic who can usually hit it the first time, usually. Hope you are feeling better.

Looks like everything is in order to pick up the new kid saturday morning, unless unforeseen gremlins enter the picture. At 16 weeks it looks like more potty training and trying to keep her from chewing up the house. Tinker loves pulling yarns out of the rugs, I wonder what the new girl will choose ?

Really foggy morn, but the sun is coming through now. I should be out there taking 'foggy pictures', but it's so nice and warm here in the house and I have this terrible urge to make waffles. How about some waffles with canned peach slices and vanilla ice cream ? Just give me 30 minutes or so and come sit down.

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

balvenie sounds yummy!
what "kid" are you picking up? I must have missed that when I try to speed read!
Sounds like fun though I have a 3 month old pup here tearing up things and potty training it can be exhausting but those cute little faces!

But, boy, can they cook..

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Rob't, I met a new DG member on one of my summer trips to see mother. The woman has 2 goldens, and took them for obedience training. Turns out she has seizures, and during training, one of the dogs broke from training and started circling her, instinctively knowing a seizure was coming even though the woman didn't. What a great gift.

So, I'm sure if you can get your dog trained to respond to sounds you might miss, you will also have a great gift. Tinker is beautiful!

Okay, back down into my black hole (where I have been for weeks)...

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

I'm back and it was relatively painless, the girl who did it has had a heart transplant and a pancreas transplant so she is very sensitive to needle victims! Unfortunately the second transplant is not working, so she is in line for another. Counting blessings, 1,, 2 3 4, 5, etc. Boy, do I feel healthy!!

Yes, Howard is quite clever, and the giver and the prospective owners are shortly getting a letter from Max, who is also expecting to move into the "bigUr house"; establishing his prior claim and superior intelligence. DS might be underwhelmed with the gift, although he always said if they had a bigger place they'd have a dog, but a new mortgage (sizably larger), the return of his Max, on top of moving might overtax his brain. LOL

Foggy here too, but cleared up to give us ...........clouds. I was going to hang sheets outside but it will take them all day to dry.
We have one of those mattress pad heaters that warms up the bed nicely in chilly weather.....I turn it off when we go to bed, but it is lovely to get into a nicely warmed bed, and then snooze under a down comforter for warmth the rest of the night. Souky likes it too and sometimes looks offended when I lift the covers to get in and she has to scram. She is very good at wriggling her way under blankets or bedspreads, but she wants to be ... a l o n e....!

Since I've now wasted the entire morning, I should get busy. ( said Should, not Will.)

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well you have been gabby as usual. I have done the laundry, all 3 large loads of them. Last is in the dryer. Did some errands this morning, and stopped by to see how DMIL was doing. I took her to my Dr. about a month ago,and the first thing she says to me, " I'm not going back to that Dr. anymore." Iasked why and she says some of the medicine he gave her is making her dizzy and she has fallen 4 times in the last 2 days. This is the first time I've heard about that. So went to drug store and spoke to the pharmacist, and asked him to look at her medicines to see if any one of them was causing that problem. He seems to think not. Anyway called the Dr. office and reported our conversation, still waiting on a call from the Dr. Sheesh, the woman is having trouble breathing, and refuses to use the oxygen provided her, but this morning, wanted me to order her a portable unit, so she can get outside!!! Told DH when I got home, and he says she can't just blame the Dr. for getting old!!.

|Meezer, It was me who cleaned house. Yup, it will stay that way until this weekend when DGD comes!!

Sarv, why don't you try a chiropractor? He sure has helped my neck and my arm.

Robert, Polar Ice Cap, ice cream!! NOT. Tinker sure is a lovely dog. Hope the other one is trained easily, and is not a holy terror! Talked to DS a few days ago, she has a Yorkie who is about 6 months old and she calls him a demon. The last 2 dogs she has had were Norwich terriers, and lovely dogs with good behavior. I told her that she was due a bad one!! I have had my bad one, and Mr. B although a Jack Russell, and usually a rambunctious breed is very laid back, and a pure joy to be around.

He sure does love his mommy-me!!

So how about the plans for a GOB-GOBETTE Round up, anybody doing any planning?

Well, it is time for me to start making some plans for food for tonight. I will be back later this evening, Oh tonight is chat night too.

Hey wait just a darn second here! I cleaned my house too!!! But I will admit the mulch thing left me baffled, lol.

GOB RU~~ Well of COURSE GOBettes are invited, otherwise I couldn't go either, rofl. Mother's Day was a suggestion due to the Arboretum's plant sale, ANY other date suggestion is more than welcome. The IOWA RU is May 5 & 6 in Des Moines, so we could plan to go with that or at a completely different time. I will be happy to be host if it is here.

I may give that a whirl again if my son will go to bed on time

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

No big deal, just the annual lab work for cholesterol, blood pressure, and to check for liver damage from the cholesterol meds=so far so good, and just one stick in the arm....won't see the dr. til next week.

Turned out sunny after all, so I hung sheets on the line, and ended up pullling up bushels of soon-to-die alyssum so I could hose off the sidewalk. Took down the clothes line, don't think I'll be using the free outdoor dryer anymore this year.

I still have to make up the bed, and start dinner. Where did this day go??

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Got the dishes washed and a load of jeans going, then went with DH to get some 'stuff' in Sioux Falls. Trying to get some prices together for refinancing the house, cuz we can get a lower interest rate now. I'll fax it in tonight to the bank.

My goal was to get the last of the perennials in the ground but the farmer across the highway is spreading/injecting liquid manure and the smell is so bad, I'm hiding in the house.

later... dh is hollering for something......

Darius - outta that black hole!! You've used your quota of days in there for this month!

I felt yucky all day - stomach/headache. At 3 ish I got burst of energy and partially cleaned one disaster bedroom. Will need to finish it tomorrow and then start on another one - maybe!

Tonight was 'new receipe' dinner. Made a spinach/chicken quiche - DH didn't like it - I thought it was good. He said chicken in quiche was gross!! The receipe had a ton of calories, so I don't think I will put it in the receipe box. Also had a butternut squash - man I could eat one of those every day - they are soooo good.

DH brought up a load of wood - I am using it just to take the chill off the house. Haven't turned on the furnace yet!

Maria - did you notice I said 'treatmill' instead of what I meant (treadmill)!! LOL - wonder if they make treatmills? I'd buy one! LOL (see I do enjoy my own humor!!)

Oh, a new puppy - I'd love a little lap dog.... DH says NO! He said no to the cat too - but guess what?? We have one!

Well, I need to do the evening dishes (my new goal for myself - I usually leave them til morning) See everyone in chat!! And save me a waffle...

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

CHATROOM IS OPEN!!!

mg

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Sarv, I am laughing out loud Ha Ha. There are not many that many that can make me laugh!! I love ya!

Darius, talk to me!!!
Maria

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Hi GOB's, didn't get to the chat room tonight, I have dial up, and DH was on the phone almost the entire time. And men say that women talk alot. He has a routine every night, talks to 3 "buddies" ( fishing is the topic) and then 1 sister. All are long conversations, so if you need to get a message to me from about 7pm to 10pm any night, please send a smoke signal!! We have call waiting, he never uses it, so when he finishes with the phone, I check the caller ID and if there has been any calls for me, I return those calls. Sounds like we need extra phone lines, 1 for him, 1 for me, and 1 for the computer!! Then I guess instead of my phone bill being $157.00 a month, it could easily be $500.00. I have bell south, and I "Bundle" all my services, so it is local and unlimited long distance, cell phone (nation-wide calling) and internet services. So it probably sounds worse than what it actually is.

Well after I finished the laundry today, cleaned 2 cabinets in the kitchen. I am going to work on the linen closet in the morning, do some weeding, and go to the attic to rearrange the chaos.

Tomorrow afternoon, I am scheduled at the local hospital for the yearly "mash the upper appendages between frozen glass" and a bone scan. I would rather shoot myself in the foot than to get the first test. I sure bet it was a man who invented that dang machine. A mind warped man at that!! Oh well, next is scheduled the colonoscopy, and you all know that is a real treat!! After the last one (4 years ago) I couldn't sit for a week. It wasn't so much the test as the preparation. Had to drink a gallon, and no I am not joking, of the system cleaner. Some of these Doctors are sadists surely. Wonder if they follow their own advice and have these tests too? They probably have a "new" test, maybe the MRI that they get tested by. I wish they had a day set aside for the Doctors to get tested and all of their patients were invited to watch. Boy that would be a hoot!!

Well, I have really ranted tonight, thanks for all of those ears, mentally feel better, but not physically.

I found a "saying" that I am going to close with.

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand coca cola in the other, with a body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming " Woo Hoo what a ride!!"

Feel free to change that to whatever substances usually held in your hands!!

Good Night All.

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

More than five hours lapsed between aria's post and defoe's post! Has everyone fallen off the edge of the world???

Loved your saying, defoe. I've heard it without the reference to chocolate and coke, but really like the additions!

Goodnight all!

Jody

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Looks like I'm not entitled to more than one good night's sleep in a week's time. Went to bed at 10:30, woke u at 12:30 quite refreshed, tried going back to sleep until 1:30, no soap. so here I am catching up on posts. Dcat, you are on a cleaning binge! I approve heartily of your homily....love the chocolate and the Coke addition! Another one I am fond of is the one about how you identify a true friend...I'm sure you've seen it....someone who knows all about you and likes you any way,,,etc.

Supposed to warm up tomorrow, but with rain. Such a crazy summer, and fall doesn't look like it's got any sense at all either.

Robert, there are dogs who have been trained to alert seizure sufferers, and beyond that, some have learned to sniff out disease! I think your new pup is going to be invaluable, and we can't wait to see more pics of her. It will be a trip worth making, and I'll bet you can't wait.

Maria, do you know that there are treadmills that fold upright and don't take up a lot of floor space when they arent in use? Mine is sitting in the basement, unused, since we moved here five years ago, because that's when my feet and ankles started giving me grief, not to mention my knees. I don't know who makes them, and mine isn't the fold up kind....it does however, have a book rack and a light!! I did three miles with it set on the steepest setting, every day for 6 years and kept a log with dates and distance. I was going to plot it on a map to see how far I would have gone.

Guess I'll go read for a while and see if it makes me sleepy.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

You and I are in the same boat, Meezers, slept for 3 hours then woke up and here I am, wide awake. I must get one of those treadmills, but I don't know where to put it but if I find one that folds upright it may be ok as long as I don't have to put it under a bed as I have seen them advertise, don't think my back would appreciate it.
Hope reading will put you to sleep till morning
Maria

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Nahhh, didn't work...played backgammon for a while. Even if you don't slide it under a bed, you could put a screen in front of it when you want to hide it.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

First person up at a normal time - I have been sleeping better lately - I need to quit bragging as I will probably be up all night tomorrow!! I am taking two aleves (1 in am, 1 in pm) and it seems to help my arm (the cause of many sleepless nights) My sister's back surgeon told her to do that for 3 months - so I am doing it!! Free medical advice. LOL

Since I sat on my duff most of the day yesterday, I plan on being a whirlwind today. But I am not going to start until 10am. I want to play on the computer, read, and do my daily suduko puzzle. I know have one deilivered by email - what next? Dishes are all done (last night) and both beds are made. I've got some free time on my hands!!

Maria, don't you have a spare bedroom that you could put the treadmill in? I think you would enjoy one in the winter for exercise.

Well, not much more of interest here. I'm making stuffed peppers for dinner - I'll stick in a few more for visitors.

Just heard the today show - state of emergency out east - floods., Man, what a year....

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Just woke up again, Meezers, and a good morning to you and everyone else!I think I am going to cough forthe next month or soI usxsually do even though the cold has gone this timeit feels worse keep re-hurting my back while coughing.
Wish I had something interesting to tell you but I have nothing, can't even tell you about me garden, not allowed to do anything out there, except look and shake my head at what a mess it is, besides it is still raining buckets.
I did talk with my sister whom I visited last May in Vienna as some of you probably know. It is always good to hear her voice, she does not feel great either. Many years ago she had surgery, can;t remember what it was for, in any case, she was having pains in her abdomen but dr. could not find the problems. Finally she became very ill, the drs. decided to do an exploretory surgery. They found half of her liver was destroyed because some surgeon left a sponge in it at that original surgery. Fortunately she survived the last ordeal but still is not quite up to par, I think she never will be, she is very dear to me, always has been, my one and only sibling.
I don't know how to play backgammon, Meezer, it must be one you an play by yourself? It is going to be another very long day for me withput being able todo much of anything, for fun I gamble on an internet casino with make belief money, am not so dumb ant use real money LOL though when I win I wish it was real but only then.
