Morning Glorys 2005 # 5

Emma, that looks like Asuka! LOL time for the strait jacket!

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Man I'm not gonna touch that right now. But I will look into it over the weekend and see if I can find you some explanation.
have a nice weekend all and I will TTYL

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Geez, even I'm confused and I'm just reading the thread :)

My Mt. Fuji mix is almost half way up the trellis, and it growing at least 6 inches in 24 hours, but no buds yet..... I'm impatiently waiting :)

My Hama no Yuki and Fuji No Sora are still really short, but I'm trying the a variation of the Andon method with them..... they have gotten really bushy.

Hopefully I will have blooms to post soon :)

I love everyones blooms, please keep the pictures coming

Anyone growing:
AKATSUKI NO TSUYU

If so, what does it look like? Is it same as blue silk?

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Joseph, that was my OTHER question.
But, I'm already confused enough....LOL
You are right it does look like Asuka as well.
BUT THESE ARE TWO DIFFERENT VINES,
and they look the same to me......good grief!
Where is our Japanese experts?

I just planted two vines of Asuka, so hopefully I'll have blooms this year.

Ronnie,
I should have bunches of seeds of the Dusty Rose.
That vine is blooming like crazy. I'll save seeds for you.
Hopefully it will grow back 'True', it is one of my favorites.

Emma,

I just opened the foil pack of a JMG packet, and there was a tag inside with a picture of the plant. It looked just like your flower, and the english translation of the flower name was Asuka. I don't know what else to say...looked just like your flower pic.

Joseph

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Now, isn't that interesting.
Thanks Joseph for the info.
Here is what the English Translation is for Heian No Umi
(The Ocean of the Heian era)
Wonder what the translation is for 'Asuka'

I suppose as we all learn more about the JMG's FROM JAPAN,
we will see more and more of this.

Joseph, did you see my post on Part 4
about Cameo Elegance Mini-Bar Rose vs: Beni Chidori???
Very strange.
LMK what you think about that one.

Emma

I'll check it out, Emma. Thanks for the assignment! LOL

Emma they look the same, weird, huh??

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, weird indeed!

Thanks for completing your assignment....LOL
You are hilarious!

Everyone is doing so well with their vines! Mine are making, but not very many pretty ones. Here's a photo of my Double Blue Picotee...it's been one of my best so far.

This one looks like your 'Heian No Umi' cross, Emma. It came from a package of 'Yamatoji'.

I caught a bee visiting my I. indica...she was very busy, getting pollen all over the place!

I FINALLY got a good photo of my 'Wedding Bells'. They're not doing as well as I'd hoped. They're truly an outstanding color!

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

This one came from Arum...these are great, Dena!! I've started calling them 'Pink Satin' for their sheen. The camera can't seem to pick it up. :-( These were the ones you sent to me as 'large lavender'.

Stacey your Blooms are Gorgeous.
Love your Wedding Bells, can't wait for mine to start blooming,
and ARUM's Pink Satin is UNBELIEVABLE.
I'd love a few seeds of that one.
Emma

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

My keyboard is shorting out from all the drool. My vines are starting to dry up already without blooming. It's just too hot I guess. Sure hope I get just a few flowers. Everyone has such gorgeous ones. Emma all yours are to die for, but then so are Dee's and Pam's and everybody else's. LOL

Emma, maybe we can just pretend they're different...one probably has split hairs on the underside of the leaves that only can be seen by electron microscopy...geez I need coffee bad LOL.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Joseph, OK sounds good -
Bet that is 'really' the difference...LoL
I needed that laugh

I'll have flowers soon, but took this picture of Blue Silk's nice leaf shape and variegation. Worth the price of admission just with the cool looking leaves!

Seeing your picture of Blue Silk's foliage makes me more doubtful that my Blue Silk is going to turn out to be Blue Silk. I had remembered it as having more variegation than mine does.

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

wow Stacy those are all sooo pretty. I need to get some of your Wedding Bells seed the ones I have are not Wedding Bells. Maybe we can trade...............

And Pams all of your are just beautiful.....so glad to see you did get some blooms before the plants all became "Fried"..............
Very pretty alll

My Wedding Bells are doing kind of wimpy, so I can't promise much in the way of those. Have you gotten any rain Emma and Dee? We've finally had a couple of days with some nice showers. Oh wait, I know you have Dee...Brazoria always gets flooded out before everybody else! :-)

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

We had a good rain about 3 days ago and the following couple of days were cloudy and drizzling off and on.
Can't tell we had rain though. I've been watering like crazy all afternoon. Dry, Dry, Dry Everywhere and I have Peat Moss dug in pretty good in all of my beds.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Here's a better picture of my Giant Mix pale blue. The bloom is huge.

We have had almost no rain this summer and that is really different. Since Brazoria is usually the "Rain Forest" of the Coast. It has helped that I am on the River and have fog most mornings.

Yesterday and the day before we had some what of a shower but it was quickly soaked up and the ground is still cracked. I hope it will rain again today, it is overcast and maybe we will get more.

Most of my vines are burned up and as soon as the rains start up again I will replant some and see what happens. Right now would not do much good, I have noticed when it is this hot they will sprout and come up in a day and then usually die in a week or two.
So I am sitting and playing the waiting game.....

This was in the Plum Frost batch and bloomed a couple of days ago.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Whooeee! Thanks again, Emma.

Thanks, Emma :-)

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

I agree with Emma and I think the AKATSUKI NO TSUYU is Blue Silk to.............

Well we had a terriable storm over the weekend, rain bands off the latest Hurricane, probably spawned tornado like activity I guess. We had 60 mile an hour winds and heavy rain. The wind took out a huge Sycamore in the back yard as well as several of my Morning Glorys and brugs along with it. My FujiShibouri Wisteria Tye Dye, Robe, Mt Fuji Purple and Emmas Plum Frost are all history, crushed under the tree. It also broke our well and put a huge gaping hole in my neighbors garage roof. They were not home and thank goodness no one was hurt.
I think I will get a few seeds but thats about all I can expect. My hubby was going to move them for me and we had other things come up and didn't get to it Saturday. Sunday evening the storm struck.
This tree was maybe 50 tall and was about 6 to 7 ft at the base. So it was a bigun. And I am still wondering why in the world couldnt that thing have fell in the river. It would have just about all been gone if it had....................Arggguuuu

Dee, I'm sorry you suffered all the destruction, I know I speak for many here to say we are happy you are safe and sound.
