OH, Willow
I am so sorry for the storm damage that you have received.
It is so sad to hear about your green babies, too. If I had seeds to the ones you mentioned, believe me, I would be sending them to you in a heartbeat.

Morning Glorys 2005 # 5
Dee, I'm so sorry to hear the damage your yard suffered. What a bummer! Wish we could get a little rain, but sure don't want 60 mile an hr. winds to go with it.
Emma, that dusty pale rose silk mg is gorgeous. I'm begging again.
This mg bloomed this morning for me, but I have no idea what it is. I planted 5 pots of different pink ones and only 1 seed in one pot germinated, and it doesn't look like any of the ones I planted. It is more lavender than pink. Anyone have an idea what it is?
AWESOME.....
Per Joseph that is "Ipomoea iwannahavit"
LOL
It is soooo lovely
Dee so sorry to here of your losses. Glad all is OK with you. There are always extra seeds to go around! Take care.
Ronnie
thanks so much all and yes your all absolutly right, seed is the last thing I have to worry about. I am just so glad all came through without a scratch and that my neighbors are alright to. We are getting more rain today so I hope our drought is over. Then I can get to planting again. Yipppeeeee
Emma I just love that Dusty pale Rose Silk...........gotta have some of those seed.
Ok, Dee - you got it
Got you and minnigrannie tagged for the Pale Dusty Rose Silks
Emma
Emma, whatever it is it sure stays open a lot longer than the pale blue one. I went outside just a few minutes ago and it is still about 3/4 of the way open and 5:45 p.m. in 100 deg. heat.
minigrannie -
VERY Interesting.
Did you take another photo later in the day.
Has the color stayed the same or changed.
Very unusual for an annual MG to stay open in that kind of heat.
That gorgeous Pink is definitely a 'keeper' for sure.
I didn't think about taking another picture. The color looks a little darker though now.
Minigranny, looking at your pink, you probably have either 'Heian No Haru' or 'Akatsuki No Haru'. IMO, it looks more like the 'Heian' flower.
Good call QueenB,
I was just looking at my 'Heian No Haru' seed packet today thinking the same thing, but Sylvia's looks to be more Lavender-Pink.
Heck hard to tell sometimes comparing against the seed packets.
Sylvia, Did you grow 'Heian No Haru' this year?
Okay, I think I've finally caught up with most of this thread. Here are the answers I have to a few questions that have been floating around...
First of all, Dee--! I'm so sorry to hear about your yard! I'd absolutely die from heartbreak and frustration. We have nothing blocking the wind on the north side of our property (the front yard), so when we get those little microburst storms up here in the summer, they tend to wipe out my yard pretty quick if things aren't tied down or sheltered. I truly feel for you! I hope you can recover some of your plants out of the chaos. I couldn't imagine having to deal with a tree down like that.
1. Emma, your 'Red Moonflower' is like you said, NOT red (obviously). Whoever decided to call it that must've been colorblind. If I'm correct, you probably have Ipomoea setosa. What makes me think this is the 'thorns' I see on the vine in the photo. Do some of the leaves appear grape-like? It should be hardy in your zone, but mulch it in the winter just to be sure.
2.Dee--I love the color Emma's 'Plum Frost' came out for you. Would you consider saving me a few if the vine survived? *trying not to beg* I have some of your seeds still that you generously sent me last year if you want any back, plus some other ones.
3.Emma--there is no difference in the names 'Heian No Umi' and 'Heian Umi'. 'No' in Japanese is the equivalent of our 'of' or 'of the'. Whoever typed it just left the word out. As for the color, mine are a very deep royal purple. They start very dark, and end up a few shades lighter, more of a dark violet color. I've discovered that most cameras can't seem to capture blue and purple colors true to the flower. I don't know why that is, but it frustrates the heck outta me when I want to preserve the very thing that makes the color so special! (I usually end up tweaking the photo to get a more accurate color.) I think what you see in my photo is where I've taken it in the sun, so it's changed the color perspective a bit. Look at the darker shades in the flower, and that's closer to what it really is.
4. "Asuka": name of a village in Nara, Japan, an ancient historical site (as told to me by a Japanese source). Just as with most of the JMG names, it's meant to evoke a pleasant thought or memory of a thing, time, or place.
5.minigranny--if you get any seeds from your pale blue, PLEEZE save me some--please?? They're just beautiful. I think they may be 'Blue Silk' as some of my flowers haven't come out all that dark, but rather washed out.
6. Emma, can I have some of the ruffled blue w/pink halo, too? *drooling*
7.'Akatsuki No Tsuyu'='Dew at Dawn' To me, they appear darker than 'Blue Silk', but then it could just be the photo. For some reason, I just can't seem to believe they are. Whatever, they're still beautiful. :-)
Stacey,
THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR INFO.
Now, just where the heck have you been while we've been driving ourselves 'nuts' trying to figure some of this stuff out....LOL
Great information!
Yes, of course, you can have some of my Ruffled Blue with Light Pink Halo.
I am going to guess that these blooms are going to become larger as the vine matures. It really is a beauty.
Umm...out tending my vines? Will that do as a good excuse?
*G*
New thread.....................

I'll be happy to save any seeds I get for those who might want them, if they make seed. With the heatwave we are having here, they may all burn up and die before they get a chance to make seed. I sure hope not, because I really want to grow this one again as well.
