Maas Nursery tour.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

how long were you there? who bought what? Enquiring minds want to know. I bought 2 jap. maples there and they are doing fantastic despite the horrendously hot summer we had. Algo got me a bargain in a couple of their pots.

Mary Ellen, friend of sunnytex, I have that t-shirt also, I luv it and wear it all the time

Santa Fe, TX(Zone 9b)

We bought an exotic passion flower, violas, and pansies for a new feature we are building.

New feature??? You can't just leave us hanging with that, Trois! lol

Santa Fe, TX(Zone 9b)

Oh yes I can. I am unable to pic something not yet there. Soon.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay. lol How about a hint? Big as a bread basket?

Santa Fe, TX(Zone 9b)

6 feet across. It will depend on flowers growing correctly for the final effect. I will post a preliminary soon.

Can't wait to see what you have up your creative sleeve this time. :-)

This is Barbara's project. I just lift the heavy stuff and take pictures.

Ligonier, PA(Zone 6a)

It was so great meeting everyone. I had a blast and of course had to buy more plants. Surprise, surprise. As soon as I get a chance I'll post pictures of the plants I purchased. With all the laughter going on I'm still wondering what (hidden ingredient) was put into everyone drinks. Wasn't it Trois furnishing the drinks? I hope we can get together for another meet in the spring. OK Trois you have your work put out for you. Get busy.

Trois was wicked with that camera wasn't he! :)

Bobbie & I toured Maas and made our final selections.

I'll post a pic of my begonia I bought soon as I can get a good pic.

Thanks for all the food & great company!

I must rest a bit first. Thinking is hard.

I'm glad you had a good time. Laughing is hard work.

Trois,
I forgot to let you snap a pic of the huge basket I brought home...duh... your camera is so much better than mine.
The pic above is of an older begonia I've had a long time. I actually got most all my begonia collection at Maas when I first started gardening years ago.

The begonias at Maas nursery are to DIE for! Huge baskets at very afordable prices. The help is so great there, too. There's always help,if you need it, but they don't bug you. Such a relief!
I think Maas has one of the nicest atmospheres you can find at any nursery. It's also a rare place where the owner can be seen and is glad to help you find what you need, too.

The springtime is of course the best time to find most things but they still had a nice selection even this late in the season I thought.

Well, next time.

Meanwhile, what is the name of this one?

It is a bromeliad one of these I believe:

Cryptanthus bivittatus

Orthophytum gurkenii

Oh that beauty is one of my favorite plants...it's my Cryptanthus "Elaine"... I made a nice trade for it from one of our fellow DGers.

That's a nice pic you took of her too! Please send me a copy of it???

Hiya Sandy,
I enjoyed meeting you at Maas. Please send me your addy in a DG mail and I will send you those plants we talked about as soon as I can get my act together.

I sure will.

I'll never tell what we were talking about in that one picture will you?

We can keep everyone guessing.
Great meeting you. I hand such a great time yesterday. I am sure glad I made it. It was the best time I have had in years.

Dave's Garden has such a diversity of people. But what we all have in common is the love of people, the love of plants, and the love of critters. I am always amazed at who Jesus brings into my life, Not because I don't know he can do all things, but because He loves "me" enough.

I cherish all of your friendships.
blessings,
Sandy ^8^

Of course you had to be around a lil earlier to hear about Trois & Kippers proposed new forum...it'll never pass...lol

The day was sooo much fun and it was filled with all my favorite things in life, too, like great friends, beautiful surroundings and fun talk about everything.

I've read every post!
Haha, He said he might need help.
Sorry I missed tha fun.

Santa Fe, TX(Zone 9b)

We kept watching for you, but then we ate anyway. You missed a very good time.

We had plenty of help. A lot of people kept coming around wondering what all the laughing was about. It was a good thing we were on stage and outdoors.
