Florida Forum

Lakeland, FL

Any other Lakelanders out there?

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Pati, Hap, Molly, I guess nothing will do but to join yall, because you are my friends, but I do so in tears.
http://davesgarden.com/pf/zipbyzip.php is where you go corky to put in your zip code. Then you can click on the plants listed that you didn't add and see who added them. They would be your Lakelanders.

bugelover....you are right...we are in the thick of that area. I have been here 22 years and it has been drastic since then...University is no 6 lanes not counting the turn lanes...and with a median...so you can imagine the growth on the sides..unbelievable. Come on down and sit a spell... we'll take you on a tour..

Hap

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

Thank you Sugar.....You'll see how great it'll be this winter when we only have each other with our growing problems. If others drop in to ask how to overwinter Coleus, I'll just have to answer, " 'What? In the ground of course" *Smile* And of course there's always Lilypon who will be reading about us setting out Plumerias as she comes in from shoveling snow! LOL

edfinney, welcome to the "Lurker's Club". I see you hang out in some of the places I visit too!

See, we've already got a mini-RU going here with the South FL bunch because they had a place to meet!

Molly and Val...It's Top Tropicals....11351 Orange Dr. 954-236-5118. They are only open Wed-Fri , 9-5...Thurs would be a good day for me......Check out their website...it's great.

Lantana, FL(Zone 10a)

I'd love to see a Florida Forum! I've wondered why we didn't have one yet! I'm here in Lantana, just south of West Palm Beach.

I've been to Top Tropicals, and Mike's a hoot! He loves to show you around, plucking leaves off plants, smooshing them around a bit and then shoving them under your nose. I bought my radermachera (the flowers smell like cotton candy!) and michelia champaca trees from him. They carry such unusual plants, definitely worth the trip!

See you all at the Florida Forum!

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Sounds cool, Hap, I shall put you down for Thursday, next week.

Molly
:^)))

Hap, that's the one I was referring to. I've been there many times. They have some cool unsual plants in that place. Thursday sounds fine to me but it has to be after 1PM. Let me know. You can contact me through mail if you want.

Budgie, you can come visit us anytime. Like Molly and Hap have said, the changes have been drastic. I can't believe at times how different it all looks in the 30 years that I've been here.

Wouldn't it be great to set up a RU? We could all meet somewhere in the middle of the state. Those that live in that area can find a place. Just some food for thought...

Val

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

WOW..the Top Tropicals web-site is AWESOME! Some of the most beautiful pictures and descriptions of Plumeria I've seen anywhere. Just ran a MapQuest and it's 109.24 miles from my front door to their gate. I printed it out and will present it to my daughter.....I NEED to go!!!!
Pati

Hey pati45, in case you are confused, lilypon was laughing at me about the Plumerias. If you REALLY want to be confused, go to the Canadian Forum and read all the threads on TROPICAL gardening. These people are determined that zones don't count!! LOL

Hey Molly, I missed the last one because of family from out-of-town, but I don't care WHERE it is, I'm coming this time! If we don't get hurricanes this summer I may even have some plants to trade!!!

Miami, FL(Zone 10b)

I would definitely be interested on a Florida forum. Being from Miami, our climate and plant requirements are very different from any other areas of the country. I think it would be great to have a place where Florida gardeners can discuss the gardening challenges that are so specific to our area.

Orange Springs, FL(Zone 9a)

Most certainly. I need all the help I can get. I find this environment most challenging to have a pretty yard.

Indiantown, FL

I'm in we need to share our knowledge about Florida growing with each other, sometimes I feel like a loner down here!! It will be fun to share with those of you closer to me.

Connie
Wet and hot in South Florida!!

Alachua, FL(Zone 9a)
