Hey! I know I haven't been around much since I broke my arm/elbow last month, sympathy please ;) , but I would love to be included in this. Sometimes even a seed trade ends up with "northern" seeds (being a Minnesota transplant myself) that wouldn't happen in a Florida forum...or would we not be able to trade seeds here? Aaaaaanywayyyyy...Florida folks with Florida advice in a Florida forum is not a bad thing. Been here since '78 but so much to learn...Lovely idea! We do have matching zones and climate with the Texas Gulf coast as well, having lived in the Corpus Christi area long ago. Had no idea what to do with that zone! So others in zone 9-ish may find useful info here...The bones are broken but the brain blathers on and on... :)

1) Have Bengal Tiger and that new one, the darn patented red one, cannot remember the name. I was looking for something *besides* cannas... thanks much tho, you're right, they're the ones that are happy there.

Hey, what about ginger? I might put some ginger back there, they can take the monsoon season right? How about the drought time tho? I have some pretty variegate ginger a friend gave me, grows about 5 - 6 ft tall and has not very showy cream colored flowers that smell like heaven.

This wasn't a complete invite list. Just the ones I started with.
I'm going to keep on going but I only have so much time as my son and I fight over internet time until I get a separate cable modem for the other computer. We tried wireless but I guess too much interference around here. It would only connect occasionally and then it was slower than dial-up.

Well living in the coldest county in Florida.. also know known as LA.. (lower Alabama).. I grow everything ya'll in south Florida do.. and some of the northerns as well.. nothing like a little zone pushing.. :-)

I'd LOVE to see a Florida forum!!

I am a newbie to being a paid member although I have been a Lurker for several years. A Florida forum sounds like a good idea to me. I agree with what someone else in the thread has already said that although our statewide differences in what will work in the garden are great because of the 4 regions encompassed in the state (South, Central, North, Pan Handle) and the 4 or more climatic zones included within the state (if you count the Keys), Florida Gardeners still have a lot more in common with other Florida Gardeners (especially those in an adjoining section or zone) than we do with Gardeners from all across the nation and the world, I would think. Besides, you can always visit any forum that you wish. If you have made friends in the other forums, you can still visit them there. This just gives you a place to go to get help with a particular gardening problem from people who may live across town or in the next county and thus are more familiar with the growing conditions you are dealing with than someone in (forgive me, I can't resist) Moose Jaw, SK or Israel or Tennessee. ;-)

Are you guys anywhere near Griffin/Sterling rds and I think it was University Dr. Davie. I used to live there and other areas like Miami, Hollywood, Kendall, N. Miami Beach. Waaaay back in the lat 70's early 80's. I'm sure I wouldn't recognize it now.
