Coffee and...Part 16! :-D

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

BB, I liked Atlas Shrugged much better than The Founainhead but I don't know how I might feel now. It's been 40+ years since I read The Founainhead. or Anthem. Maybe I'll just get on an Ayn Rand reading kick when I get back home.

LOL Julie tell him not to gripe or he can come live at my house and have NO hankie's (and he'd be darn glad he had clean BVD's)

I know the feeling, we have lived here for 2 years and I still know very few people. Most of the ladies in my neighborhood are older than I am and play LOTS of bridge (which I don't) and the few people I have met and become friends with work so I only get to see them on weekends if I'm lucky. *LOL* the DH is getting a tad sick of me dragging him out to see the plants daily and told me yesterday I couldn't say the word TOMATO for a 24 hour period.

Saint

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Saint...If I'd had coffee in my mouth when I read your last sentence, I would have sprayed the screen. LOL "Tomato" Well...my word is GARDEN! :-D or flower or plant or...or...or ...or. ROTFLOL. Sounds like our DH's just might be related. hehehe You can talk about your tomatoes ALL you want here. I'm willing to listen. (You should *see* my pepper plants! They finally have TWO whole sets of leaves...and I planted them the first of MARCH!)

~julie~

Auburn, AL(Zone 8a)

LOL I don't think I can say the word garden either..

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

My sympathies and I'm commisterating with you! I'm so SO excited about the Star of Persia alliums that are opening - Last year only one produced a flower head - well one and a deformed half - and now there are 5 bursting open! I'll post a pic when they finally all open - I find them so fascinating!! I dragged DH over to see them with the 'I know u don't care but I'm so excited about them u have to come see them anyway' he looked at them, past them and said, 'boy Daniel (DS) sure doesn't know how to mow very good, does he, I told him to go right against the edge of the flowers and look at all the grass he missed!!' It's always about the grass for them, isn't it?

Sad news, another goldfinch crashed and burned on the window - kitchen window this time - and NO my windows are not too clean, haven't washed the outsides on the north side in prolly 5 years! :( She joined the other one in the garbage barrel. ...We had to leave quickly Sat. morn cuz I had to drop DGD off at home and go to work so she didn't even ask about the bird. She sure told her mom about it all tho!

Auburn, AL(Zone 8a)

Have you thought about getting some of the stained glass cling on stuff from HD or Lowes? You can cut to fit and then take it off when it's not needed. Some of it is very pretty.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

No, I dont want to put that stuff on the windows - I like to see the flowers and trees and birds - :) -this is the first time this has happened with goldfinches, we really don't even see very many of them all summer. I've had a few sparrows hit the south side window and die but only a few times in the 8 years we've lived here. So I really am puzzled why this happend twice in a week and am hoping it's not a trend but rare occurences.

Auburn, AL(Zone 8a)

We can't put anything on ours either cause the puppy HAS to be able to see out, but so far only had one bird hit the window and he picked himself back up. Hope you don't have more trouble with them.

HI, been trying to catch up on work outside , between the storms.
Julie- We didn't get flooded at the house, but some of the local streets were under water. I was under the deck roof, waiting for the storm to pass., so that I could get back out. I had been listening to the thunder, but the sky didn't look bad..until it did. Moss would be very good, can't remember what you wanted..memory a bit on the spotty side.
Diane-hi, been here-on and off. Still looking for someplace with a bit of land and not much house to keep up. Saw an ad today, will give a call. Would rather have land and have a house built and not have to live with the dust and fumes..not good for my health (or temper..hammering and banging makes me crabby..no help needed in that dept. :) LOL
All the munchies have been tasty, thank you all for the cooking/baking.
Kooger, poor little girl and bird. Have been there, Hope that birdie flew away over night. We have had many that were just a bit bonked..from a hawk that missed its' prey, but now the window, to a hummingbird that I held until it could stay on a branch.. Did not hold the hawk..he got the fence post to sit on.
M5-no up the small areas for me....AWK..had to go down to coal mines/ and submarine on school trips..that was quite enough..
Darius, hope that the trip goes well for you. Getting some space to think is good.
Know that I have missed some. will try to do better catch up.
Also try to post photo-Moka is the red one..toy poodle with Strong jaws-a real sweetie who loves to play tug and chase. Pippin is a pip-small toy, who moans Loud and Long when she sees the dog next door.
She should be on stage. Tries to get through the fence to visit the dog next door and he could care less. Will try to get a good one of Casey the cat. I can't find my favorite phote (recently cleaned room with photos and tossed out negatives etc.Drat,,will never clean again if I cannot original..not that I need a reason in that area.
Anyway, here goes.

I guess I lucked out when I picked this one to be my DH. All I have to do is suggest moving something and he's right on it. He's not a big flower fan, but will help dig in anything large or move big pots around. He's obsessive about the grass too ....after the aerating, I found him picking up the plugs and putting them in a bucket. When I asked why, he said, do you think these clay blobs are going to break down....I crumbled one in my hand and said yes. Today he was picking them up again, so I said who do you think picks them up on the golf courses. He grinned and said "shut up"

I found this about birds.

How to Prevent Birds From Flying Into Windows
It's estimated that more than 90 million birds are killed each year as a result of hitting windows. Stopping the collisions is a matter of changing the birds' perception of what they see in the window.

Steps:
1. Go outside and assess the "bird's-eye view" of windows. Look at anything that would give birds the impression that there is no barrier at the window glass.

2. Put inexpensive stick-on silhouettes of hawks, falcons or owls on outside of window.

3. Hang plants, streamers, wind chimes, or other objects outside the window.

4. Move feeders away from large picture windows.

5. Put a barrier of garden netting outside the window. This is most effective if firmly mounted about a foot away from the glass.

Tips:
Many birds that hit windows and appear to be dead are merely stunned. Leave birds on ground covered with a kitchen colander or box with air holes, until they recover. This will protect them from predators.

(I guess you can pretty well tell if it's dead....)

That might be some help, without blocking the view.

Now I need to go put some cat poo down the ground squirrels' holes that are all over the front garden . I hesitate to put out poison pellets, because other critters might get them, or eat the dead ones, I just want them to live somewhere else.

Sarv, when my dearly beloved goes off and dines with his friends or coworkers, I just make myself something really good so when he comes in, he knows what he missed! He has a cell phone too, but the only time he uses it is when he takes an out of town road trip. If I need someone in an emergency, he isn't the one I'm going to call. He said he needed a new one because it wouldn't stay charged....I got him a new battery and it charges fine now. Next time he wants to replace it, he can go right ahead. I got mine through my former employer and have a $10 a month plan (not for people who have the phone glued to their ear!) and he is on the same account. If he gets a new one, he won't be able to switch to the cheap plan because they aren't offering it anymore. And he'll have to pay the bill himself. LOL Betcha he keeps this one.

Planted Bachelor Buttons, Forget-Me-Nots, butter lettuce, swiss chard, green beans, snapdragons, morning glories, and moonflowers this morning. Remembered the sunscreen today. Wore my new shoes. Duh. Oh well, they were bound to get muddy sooner or later. I'm hopeless.

south central, WI(Zone 5a)

Here is Casey the cat...who is also part poodle.
She loves to watch the birds and to sniff the outdoors-a rescue kitty, she wants Not to be out there..just to watch.
Now have had stickers on the windows and it has helped a lot.

SOLUTION TO BIRD HITTING WINDOWS-BY MY DS...!!!!

I know it works because I have a woodpecker that has been trying to get in my bedroom sliding glass doors for three years. He will fly into hour on end....2-3 hours at a time. it drives me crazy.

So at my son's suggestion I sturng transparent fishing line cross ways, up and down and diagonally in front of the window over a month ago.....not one try since.

How he new is that they did it at his work between all the lights in the parking lot. They have land and a small lake that has many seagulls. and you know what They can to do car finish!!!! They stopped once the fishing line was strung....happy days for all.

Try it, it's cheap enough and no view obstructed.

Hap

Auburn, AL(Zone 8a)

Thanks Hap, I'll tell my Dad who has more of a problem with it than I do. He has wrap around windows at his house on the lake and has the problem often.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Thanks for the good ideas m5 - think I'll hang a wind sock from the eave and see if that helps. :)

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Kooger...I'm sorry to hear you lost another goldfinch. They're such happy birds. I tell my grandkids that they are dandelions with wings. ;-)

M5...there are some good tips in that list. I'm lucky enough that my feeder is located pretty close to the house so when the birds do fly toward the windows, they haven't gotten up to speed and generally just sit on the ground for a minute or two wondering what the heck happened.

Hap! Super tip on that fishing line! I think I read a similar tip on stringing line like that about 8-10" off the ground over a garden bed to keep 'critters' out of a freshly seeded area.

Marcia...hehehe...you're SO funny! Forgetful? Who? Me? You? LOL (Moss in exchange for some tall sedum...that's what we were talking about.) It seems like all the 'storms' lately have missed us completely and headed in your direction. (You stand OUTSIDE and *WATCH* for a storm? Man, not me!)

Saint and Kooger...I think most man are FAR more aware of the grass than they are of flowers...but I think I'd be happy if *that* was the case with mine. He says he lets 'grow' because it goes to seed and starts MORE grass. Yeah! That sounds like a 'reason' to me. LOL

Now where is Robert? Do you think he's afraid to step in here while we're on this subject? ~wink wink ~

Hi Darius!

I hope I didn't miss anyone this time...if I did "HI to *YOU* too!"

What!!! ME, afraid to step in on ANYTHING!!! balderdash. I was busy advising the White House on caring for their front lawn, then a very quick trip to the Gobi to help the Chinese open a series of Take-Out Turf farms. My professional opinion on lawns is that they are green, except in cases when they are not. LOL When we moved in to this rambler some 30 years ago the previous owner had what passed for a putting green in the front. He is reported to have mowed it (with a manual push mower) twice a week, getting no more than half a catcher of grass, if that much, on occasion. It took me several years to return it to 'lawn' status where weeds and dandelions felt comfortable. But alas, after putting up with loose dogs leaving 'deposits' my wonderful, considerate and sensible bride suggested we landscape the front. Could a man ask for more? Certainly not. The back is still turfed and will remain so. I've eaten away at it with planters as much as I dare. She is thoughtful, kind, considerate, tolerant, in possession of great common sense (which I lack), but not a pushover. Gardening, as with any other activity, is not necessarily gender related. I would certainly prefer having tea with a small group of intelligent people regardless of gender, talking about aphids or Robbie Burns than sitting through a ball game or equally repugnant 'macho' entertainment. Geez sorry folks, I didn't mean to soapbox it. Guess I'm a bit anal on the subject of accepting people for what they are, rather than gender or how they appear.
How's the eye Julie ? Will they be doing the other one soon ?
On another note, today I planted two brugs in the ground and potted nine brug seedlings, and saved $12.90 tonight on groceries by using coupons. DW lets me do the grocery shopping, but controls the checkbook. Smart woman my bride.

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

Robert, maybe we could clone you...?

I know a coupla men who like to do the grocery shopping.. a few even cook what they buy. Wonderful... howcum I didn't get one of them? 'Sokay i don't have to please anyone these days.

Just get outta the house so my son can tear it apart and replumb and wire the kitchen/bath. Wisely installed all in one wall. Not buried in some cement slab like modern construction. My girl friends hot water has sprung a leak somewhere in there. oh wow... I'm lucky to have this ol miners house.

I'm nearing exhaustion tonite... am emptying the counter and cupboards that will be in the way of the new goings on... and am packing to leave for my sisters....

Guess who's not going to make it outta town tomorrow. Oh well, there's just too much to do before I can go. I'm staying long enuff so one day either way will be fine. Can't put myself under pressure for something that's supposed to be a vacation. LOL

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Talk about grocery shopping - we saved $70 plus, store savings plus coupons. Actual bill was $149 - think of what it would have been!! It was a buy one, get two free week and I loaded up on everything. Olive oil was 50% off and I need to return and pick up a mega jug - they were outta them!! I usually hate grocery shopping, but I dragged DH along and he pushed and unloaded the cart - went pretty swell!!

It's 4am and I can't sleep a wink more, so decided to get my weary bones up outta bed. I'll pay for it tomorrow tho.

My goal for the week is to get in all the plants I have left- I overbought on some and need to get some more impatients to ring my beds in. It costs me an arm and a leg to do that, but gosh, the results are spectacular!! If I knew how to post a pic, I would show you them, but alas, I am really computer illerate, so you will just have to believe me!

Anyone doing anything fun for the upcoming holiday? We aren't - used to always camp, but I'm actually glad we are staying home. My energy level is real low and there is so much to do around here.- seems like it is neverending.

Blooms - have fun on your upcoming vacation!!

M5- wish my DH was obsessive about the lawn - I have to gently remind him to mow it and then he can never trim it the same day (causes some major disagreements!) I can't lift the darn weed wacker , or I would do it myself. I can't imagine picking up the grass plugs- that's a good one!

Kooger- I've had alliums for years- they are beautiful things. Do yours reseed? I've always shaken the seeds out of the heads, but narry a new one. I've had the same ones for years and I was hoping for a colony of them. darn

Julie- put a box of kleenex in DH drawer- who wants to do hankies anymore....ps, my laundry is all caught up- how's yours??

Happy - I know I need to let my mom do more- she actually does a lot!!! Puts me to shame. They are both 81 and do more than I do!! They go somewhere every single day - shopping, to friends to play cards, just for a drive. T hey show up at our house at least once a week at dinner time (we laugh about that one) T hey always say 'we aren't here to eat' - but ya can't eat in front of them, so they always join us. Mom and I have a running scrabble game- we keep a tally of who won and by how much. So far I am nine games ahead of her- it really bugs her too!!

Darius- I am praying that I NEVER have to have an MRI = closed in places about do me in. I did have a cat scan and that wasn't bad - donut looking tube. Plus I was so sick, I didn't really care what was happening to me at that point.

Well, I think I may flop back in bed and see if I can catch a few winks before the sun rises...

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

sarv, I had an MRI once and it was not a good experience. The noise is awful even with ear plulgs and I became very claustrophobic. However, I hear there are open ones now.
blue spiral, I think I read that Monet painted hundreds of scenes of diffeent views of the pond. They are all beautiful.
About exchanging book ideas - we tried twice on DG to swap books and discuss them. We just read a book, posted the title to see who wanted it and shipped it to them. The idea was that after it was read, it was posted as available again and then shipped to someone else. After awhile, we had a discussion on it. Also discussed other books we had read.
I just finished the short novels of John Steinbeck. He was an amazing writer who could put you right there in the setting of the book. He wrote a lot about the downtrodden and their plights. Most of them have some humor in them, too.

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Robert...I'm sorry to say, but Blooms took the words right of out of my mouth "Clone him!" LOL In case you didn't realize, I was only pulling your chain when I posted my smart remark. Just wanted to see if you were listening. And I'll tell ya what...you listen a LOT better than *my* DH. LOL & LOL ~ And that's one gorgeous pathway through that garden. (I see some things in there, that if I were to visit, that wouldn't be there when I left. hehehe)

~yes, I'll be having the other eye taken care of two weeks from today. I'll be happy to have it all done.

It's monday morning and in spite of wanting to respond to everything I've read, I'm not going to make it before I have to start babysitting the DGD. I still have to get my bed made (That's the *only* thing that gets done without fail...otherwise I feel like I didn't 'make the grade.' BTW Sarv...congratulations on catching up with the laundry...I still have two more loads to go. Ugh! I hate folding clothes...especially with the baby around. She can UNfold as fast as I can get them done.)

Gotta run...

Just about time to call the hospital about my friend, see if she's being released today, or tomorrow. If I don't show up here for a few days (or even a week) it's because I'm away and busy helping someone get well... and NO computer!

|Hi there!! Been out of touch for a few days. Busy with things other than gardening. Got an aunt that is near death, friend had an accident on our property (cut off about half of his thumb), dog sitting for a friend who had open heart surgery, then dealing with every day things. (Laundry, house cleaning, cooking, etc,|) DH thinks that things get done by a fairy or something. Had a few words about him helping out today. Just wanted to put in an order early, if Robert is cloned, I want a copy!|!! DH is good about mowing trimming etc, but could walk over a mountain of dirt and debris in the house, and he would ask when I redecorated!! Oh well, thanks for letting me vent some. Bought some more plants today, just a trip to see if the veggie market was open, (they also have a greenhouse) market wasn't open yet, so I wandered over to GH. Big mistake!! Plan to plant tomorrow. Julie so glad you are seeing better. Darius, what a good friend you are!! I've got several like that.Sarv your adventure sounds scary to me. Brave girl!! Going to bake cake for family of neighbor who passed away this morning. Will take me awhile. See you tomorrow.

south central, WI(Zone 5a)

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing and to say hi and give hugs.
Tired after weeding today, napped and will go to bed soon-hate to waste that good lead in from a nap.
Julie, remembered the sedum, while I was pulling second bucket of weeds, just let me know if you can plant and I will get them on the way.
Need to get the furkids to bed-then stumble (carefully) up to mine.
Night all.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Hi all! Well, I've got good news and bad news. Which do u want first?

Ok, good news first - I had a side by side survey test at work Sat. and happened to get a very difficult call and scored 88%!! Wow ..was I thrilled! I think my super was even more excited than I was - she couldn't believe I got all the info in and didn't get too rattled (little does she know about that!) - at least I did it all correctly, that's the main thing. I had another today and got a 75% but it wasn't an easy one either and one thing I missed, I was not aware of, so he said I did quite well on it too! Yipee! I think I'm going to make it at this job! What a relief!!

Now the bad news, DGD is sick again, happens every 3 weeks, about, so the ENT(EarsNoseThroat) doc says the tonsils are coming out. Actually, we are very glad to hear that, just wish it wouldn't have to be surgery and pain. Right now they are so swollen, she snores loudly and breathes heavily. They are even touching! June 23rd is the date. DD is a single mom so I'll be there with her. I dread the thought of my sweetheart going into surgery but this sickness has to be stopped.

I took some new shots of her outside with the tulips .. here's one to enjoy! (Check out her 'lovely' earrings - she thinks she's a real fashion plate!) lol

I had to write an article on native azaleas and their hybrids for a small newspaper. I used Google which took to me to many helpful sites. It was funny to be led back to DG in several instances.
kooger, when I had my tonsils out as a child, it was a nightmare. No one told me that my throat would be terribly sore. They did tell me I could have ice cream and since my throat was on fire, I really wanted it. Then they refused to give it to me because they were afraid it would cause me to throw up , but they didn't explain that to me either. Please, please, prepare your granddaughter and make sure they give her plenty of pain medication. At least she won't be given ether.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

What a little doll! And that HAIR! We have to BUY that hair color!!! I'm sure the surgery will be fine, they do it so much better now, and there should not be a lot of pain. Surely better than getting sick so often. She is just adorable!

Everyone is so busy. Robert, that walkway is simply gorgeous!! What's in the hanging baskets, with the beautiful blooms? It's so lush and welcoming through that area, is there a place to sit and admire? Got a good laugh out of Marcia's comment about the pre-bedtime nap....sounds familiar!

I fell for some more bedding plants too, and they are patiently waiting for me to stick them in somewhere. Hope Blooms and Darius have safe travel and come back soon to see what kind of mischief we've been up to. Vacation? What's that? DH plays in the yard or works on his collector cars for vacation. I usually go alone, with my DIL or go visit my sister...he hates to travel, and doesn't get all bent out of shape if I take off by myself. Gives him a break from my "honey do " list!!

I put some fresh baking powder biscuits on the counter, and there's honey, orhomemade jam and butter, if you are so inclined. It's too early for dessert, but I think they'll do.

I spent most of yesterday moving my hanging rack in the kitchen....just a nuisance job, generating lots of plaster dust and colorful language. Working around the island usually resulted in me bonking my head on the stuff hanging from the rack! So, I moved the rack about ten inches south. M kitchen is pretty small. Now, I have the bread machine and the grill on the shelves of the island, which frees up some counter space. Upon which I shall pile more seed packets, gloves, tools, mail etc., no doubt...LOL.

Only two weeks to better vision Julie, and you've been able to do so much in spite of having had the first eye taken care of! You've really been a trooper! I make the bed every morning too...I just can't leave it all undone without feeling guilty. And even if I don't do another useful thing all day long, at least I MADE THE BED!! I have more days like that in winter when I get distracted by reading....this time of year, I seem to forget the inside of the house and spend all my time outside. Told DH the other day, if staring at the gardens would get them in shape, they'd all be done already...I find myself standing still and just looking. Really I'm planning and scheduling and weeding, it just looks like I'm standing still!!!

Super shopping Sarv! You really saved a bunch of money. I'm all for two-fers and stocking up when the price is right. I zipped through Sam's yesterday and managed to escape with only 6 items and three of them were books!! I didn't dare wander through the store because there's too many things I'm sure I can't live without.

Here's the relocated pot rack (no pots just stuff I always need). Eat up those biscuits!! I'm going out to play in the mud. Wore my new kicks out there the other day too. So much for good intentions.

*G* I LOVE the earrings and tell your DG she IS a fashion plate. I think the boots just make the look...ranch chic! She's a very pretty little girl and I hope she feels better soon. I have an adult friend who never had hers out and the trouble she has now (when it's much riskier to take them out) is constant. So it's a good thing to have them out now.

Good morning everyone. I haven't been here for days. Biscuits and jam sound real good with this cup of tea.

It took a loooong time to read up on all your activities. M5, do I see some copper teakettles on the top of the cupboard? I have a few, up on top of my hutch collecting dust. I got the first ones about 30 years ago while cleaning out an old storage building and have added more now and then when I see them. One has a hinged lid that covers the spout!

Kooger, what a cute granddaughter you have! Love the hair!

Last weekend I went to another endurance ride. The weather was rainy off and on so I got very wet but didn't wimp out so we finished the 75 mile ride cold, tired and happy. I must be nuts. Yesterday was a busy day which I filled with things like laundry, weeding, a visit to my neighbor's and mowing the lawn after dinner. The grass was 6 inches high in places and I have 2 wheelbarrows heaping full of clippings to spread around today. I use it for mulch and it feeds things quite well.

Tomorrow I have to drive a round trip to Portland to take my hubby to the airport and bring home our friend's Jack Russell terrier who will stay here until September. We have had this dog more than his own family so I guess he has 2 families!

Another busy day comming up here, see you later.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Hi Mary, good to see you again. Just checking in before I abandon the dust bunnies and go play in the mud. The copper teakettles are part of the wallpaper border I stuck up there, I'd rather paste than polish!! I had to polish the copper bowls when I took the rack down, they were pretty cruddy. That does it for me, once a year, unless I use them in between. There is one little copper butter melter on the other sidebut that's it.

I wouldn't mind having a part time dog....but I think the kitties would have a hissy fit if we did it. If I need some canine love I just visit my daughter, who is expecting a new litter of goldens in late June. These are the ones created on our road trip last month. That's the most fun, playing with a rollicking bunch of little goldens....and then I can go home and not pick up doggie poo!! Kind of like having granddoggers.....lol

OK back to work. These are last year's babies....all sold. All just darling.

I currently have a part-time dog. We are dog sitting for a friend who had open heart surgery. We have a Jack Russell, and the visitor is a miniature Jack Russell. They are playing like crazy!!My Bruno is 1 year old and visitor Patches is 7 months. Both real scrappy. They got in a serious fight Sunday night, which required both me and DH to separate them. The trouble was Patches snatched Bruno's toy and evidently Bruno wasn't in the mood to share. Ten minutes later they were playing again. Patches will probably be here another 2 weeks. Going to miss her when she goes home.

Kooger, what a beautiful little lady you have there, she is adorable. Congratulations on your tests.
Defoe, sounds as though you've had a really full plate lately, hope things mellow out pretty soon.
Meezer, thanks for the comment. There's no hanging basket, the bloom is from a wisteria growing over the arbor. The arbor covers a cement patio in the back garden with two benches.A very nice place to read and sip a favorite beverage.Your DH and I share the same feeling toward 'vacations'.Luckily my DW has friends to travel with, and they just returned from Italy last week.It gave me time to finish some messy home-chores.I really like your kitchen, the copper bowls are the best thing for whipping egg whites aren't they.
Mary, your endurance amazes me.Never having been on a horse I can't relate to it, but the thought of those long rides, the bad weather, and unforeseen crisis inspire great admiration.
The arbor area is still under construction, but the wisteria keeps on blooming.

Vacation!!!! Our vacation is coming up. We leave June 13, will be gone until the 19th. We are going to Nassau. I'm trying to be outside as much as possible so I won't burn to a crisp while there. Last year we went to Freeport, Grand Bahama, and really liked it. We booked a 3 day stay as we didn't know whether we would like it or not. The native people are so colorful, the beaches wonderful and the water so clear you can see all the fish swimming around. Didn't intend to make anyone jealous, but just so excited, couldn't keep this to myself. Mary E, how in the world do you do what you do? Just a one hour trail ride leaves me with places sore that I didn't know I had!!
Maybe I don't ride enough, ya think?

I DID buy that color for my hair. Well, it's supposed to be a strawberry blond b ut always comes out too red. Luckily, red hair color fades a bit and I end up with the color I want after a couple of weeks. In the meantime, it's not just red like Lucille Ball's, but as red as George Castanza's mother. Eeeeek!
