Gosh, Judy - I sure hope you're talking about the socks!!!
Yes, MSJen - Any sock is a good sock! Too bad I already packed most of mine away for the season - LOL!
I like to wear sweaters or seatshirts and jeans most of the time when it's cool, and I insist that the socks must in some way, shape or form match the top. Oh, dang - may as well admit it. I've been known to buy the socks then have to go get a top to match.
There's this wonderful underground shop at Penn Station that sells nothing but socks and stockings - laws, you gotta see some of this stuff. (Hmmm - I wonder if I'd get areested for taking pictures in there? LOL! By hook or by crook, you gals are going to get me in trouble!!!)
Like Jen, I wear backless clog-type shoes. The toes may be covered, but I like to give people a good visual as I walk away - aside from my big old fanny!
Hey - how cool is this - Now I know what to send MSJen next we do a trade or SASE!!! Note to self...
Slump Down In Your Chair & Tell Me All About It..... Part 2
Oh, Molly - welcome, welcome, welcome! Your babies are doing GREAT, by the way! I can't thank you enough.
And where do you stand (no pun intended) on the sock issue???
Y'all just had to get into socks, didn't you?
Sequee, I have a bunch of flowered socks I got from a sock place in Pittsburgh, in one of the Rouse tourist areas. More are in my storage unit than here, but here's a few. Color in the photo is washed out, sorry.
I really love the ones with the martini glasses, but they're not from Pittsburgh shop.
Very cool! I have 2 pairs like your Victorian Flowers - LOVE them! Also have a pair with Martini Glasses and Olives floating around on them - women of like minds, I'd say!
Whoo-Hoo! The sock/flip-flop vendor is the first place I hit when I get to the Memorial Weekend Flea Market in Stormville, too. (BTW-I need more socks like I need more plants!)
Darius, I love those socks. At the shoe store they only sell the really really cute socks in little girl sizes.
Sequee, thank you. As for socks, hey! I live in Ft Lauderdale, for 10 months of the year, only snow birds wear socks. And I'm here to tell ya it's really tough to get the bare foot stink out of a pair of deck shoes.
But what is really a funny site is to see the fellas from the north come down here who don't know how to go sockless. They put on their brand new sandals. But First.....white crew socks, and, oh yeah, pale, pale skin on those winter legs.
Oops, I better be careful, no doubt there is a snow bird or two watching (no offense yall).
Molly:^)))
Just so I have everything straight, you both flash a little heel.
Now Sequee back to the shiny object posted above.
Is that the bottom to a bathing suit or undies? That's why I asked if it were an item to be shown or not.
If it is undies, is the proper style to have the hole in the jeans so that they are exposed?
Just trying to get the right perspective here!!!
Getting wiser, Judy
That's funny, Darius! I have those ornament ones, too! One of the last gifts my Mom gave me before she died - and they came with a matching sweatshirt! (Or perhaps it was the other way around, LOL? My sisters both groaned...
Don't even get me started on sleepwear, or boxer shorts to sleep in LOL!
***I can't say as I have ever gone to work or the market in any of this attire, but have gone off with 2 different shoes on my feet.**** Now that is funny!!!!!
Welcome aboard molly!! we get the snowbirds here also, but they seem to wear the colored crew socks (ususally blue or black) with the plastic sandles, it cracks me up.
i also own about 10 pairs of flip flops, ya know gotta color coordinate, and of course those i dont wear socks with.
darius, i love the turtle and the polka dot socks..you both are girls after my own heart, lol.
sequee, thanks for the mental note, lol
OMG - you must tell me what size flip-flops you wear! Hopefully the same vendor will be at the Flea Market because they have the most wonderful velvet soled ones that have pearls sewn on the straps. I swear - they are like walking on clouds! I got them in Midnight, Wine, and Black - you will LOVE them!
usually in flippers i wear the 9-10 size..yup, gots some big feet, lol.
fixin to let calgon take me away, ya'll try to behave while i'm gone, k?
No way! (On the bahaving, that is! LOL!)
I wear Pontoons also!
So I got this bum foot and leg. They told me I'd never walk without a limp and for sure wouldn't ever be able to be the Bebop Queen again. Maybe I can't do the really fancy twirls and stuff "But Now I Can Dance". (A thread of a song is trying to surface in my poor tired brain. lol lol )
Said all that to say, I have 100 pair of shoes in my closet but I only wear my one little ole pair of black garden clogs which are light as a feather, since are the only one I can wear without a brace. It gave me great joy to throw the brace away.
So now I'm gonna get me some of those weird socks and show a little heel!! That should put a little pep in my step!!
I'm off to bed, morning comes here around 5 AM.
Judy
uhuh, you go girl, lol, doesnt it feel goooooodddd to bust loose from the mold? now just get some red panties, lol, and you'll be set. i promise, youll get used to the dental floss feel : )
Ha - you sound like me Judy! SHoes used to be my thing. I'm notorius for a shoe for every mood, every occasion, every weather condition, etc. Had 88 pairs at one time. Now I wear a few of them from time-to-time, but now it's all about comfort!
Red undies, hummmmm.
Hmmmm, shoes. I really have a shoe fetish, LOL. I still have 70-80 pairs of size 6-1/2B heels (some Italian leather ones never worn) in storage.
I guess it stands to reason that those of us with sock fetishes woulsd also have shoe fetishes! Foot fetishes? Pedicure queens?
Me too Darius, back before the accident, I had a cute little walk. lol lol
You don't even want to know how many pairs of casual shoes, sneakers, hiking boots, western boots, etc. that I have... it is a REAL shoe fetish!
A friend of mine swears he's never seen so many shoes outside of a shoe store! I have 14 pairs of sneakers - H-e-l-l-o! Whay do you think they made them in so many colors???
Off to slumberland with my football foot. Hoping I can handle the drive to work in the morning - ouch! I'll be fine once I get on the highway and don't have to shift. Everyone - pray for green lights for me!
Ni-ni!
i tell you, if anyone touches my feet, its "on"....dont touch them with your hands, your feet, tickle them,
i cant stand it!!! so no, i've never had a professional pedicure, and dont think i'll ever have one in this lifetime. guess its a good thing i wasnt born cinderella, eh?
Before I forget, I had my first pedicure AND manicure in March. Got me started on blood red nail polish on my toes to match my mustang.
As for the shoe thing, I think I must be foot fetish impaired. I only have about 5 pairs of shoes, 2/5th are Kenos (leather flipflops you can only buy in Key West) and the 3/5s are sneakers. No help for me in high heels anymore. Too many years and too many miles on these old dogs to walk on those stilts.
:^)))
shoot, girl , with a little figure like yours i'd be heels and minis all the time...steppin out of a sport car at that, lol
ahhh, speaking of heels...i stand 5'10" and still will 4 inch heels, i LOVE strappy sandles. i also have a love for slinky boots, have 3 pairs that i wear with boot cut jeans, a leather pink pair, including the heel, and then just the common black and brown ones.
all in all i probably own 45-50 pairs of shoes, and faithfully only wear 2 or 3. (not including my flippers) the others are just there cuz you never know when you may need them, lol. of course the shoes match the dresses hanging in the closet that still have the tags on them. you just never know when youre gonna get asked to a presidential dinner or a tea party, right? gotta be prepared.
GOOD for you, Molly!
Jen, I have the same attitude about shoes and clothing, and the same attitude about the very few I actually wear, LOL. Only once had to have someone go to my house to overnight stuff for me to wear to a fancy party in DC. (but it WAS there in waiting!)
i'm sure glad someone understands me because my husband sure doesnt, lol
I did some clearing out inside house today. threw out an entire LARGE garbage bag full of too small, slightly stained, ripped, just old, wrap skirts that won't go around me any more, elastic waist slacks that won't go around anyone I know...
where DOES all this stuff come from? Well it's on it's way outta here now. Any items in pass-along shape will get just that. Passed along. Other'n that it's going in the dumpster with the remodeling windows trash. I'd just like to be able to get to the stuff I do wear.
As to shoes, I lost interest in shoes so long ago - it had to do with the resurrection of pointy-toed shoes. But now socks that's a different story, like Darius dont' like the elastic topped ones.
Boy did I miss a bunch over the weekend! Don't have time to read it all!
I am wearing my pink panties today though, lime green shirt and blue bra! Boy would Martha Stewart faint if she saw me! LOL!!
Nicole
Well good thing she won't, or anyone else. lol lol lol
Hope you had a good weekend and were able to snatch lots of plants at your Dad's.
Judy
FYI - MSJen is going into surgery about now. She's having a biopsy done. You can go here for more info. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/509639/ Maybe we should have encouraged her to post a picture of her undies last night. lol Prayers and Hugs she's under a lot of pressure!!
Judy
I wish I did, we were too busy playing baby! Thanks for asking! It was fun and relaxing though. Went up on Pilot Mountain (my hometown) and took Brandon there for the first time. My dad was in a panic he would fall off the mountain or something! My Snatchin' days should probably chill anyway until I get my new place I guess. Ick! I will be staying in a hotel tomorrow night in Charlotte for work though. Hotels always have something around that needs to be dead head or pruned ya know! We shall see.... :)
Nicole
Hooboy, shoes AND socks!!! Used to trot around in those 3" heels at work, when I found a pair I liked I'd get them in multiple colors so I'd be ready to coordinate....At one time I must have had three or four dozen pairs of heels, wedgies, strappy sandals, one of my favorites was a huarache type wedgie that sorta clopped when I walked and drove my ex crazier, plus zoris, tennies and slides. Now after torturing my feet for those many years, I'm in Propet walkers all the time. Speaking of which, I actually took off my brand new ones yesterday before I started digging in the geraniums and dusty miller , and put on my old ones. Usually I have two or three pair of garden victim shoes in the garage because I always promise myself I won't wear the new ones....but you know how that goes!!
And speaking of socks, here's my daily almost dozen, don't ask how the frog and the chickens got in this collection.....are you sensing a theme here?? Can't pass up a pair of kitty socks, myself, but the Xmas ones were from my sister, and one pair came from friends in Australia!! I wear them anywhere....I'm well beyond caring what anyone thinks of what's on my feet!
Let's talk body parts....... I must have been born on a Friday and Mother Nature’s workers just stuck all the leftover parts together so they could get off work early. My younger years ..........
Short, skinny, skinny arms & legs, tiny hands & feet, torso kinda normal but with a high waist and compared to the arms & legs too much chest, but not enough to be a show girl. I do not have the necessary padding to fill out the seat of any pants, which never seems to fit in length and stride either.
Wearing 5N - 5 1/2N shoes I've always had a problem buying them and the ones which fit best, in the children’s department with bows and tassels, never looked good with a business suit!!! Typical off the shelf anything with sleeves was at least 3 inches longer than my wrist but covered the fingertips nicely. Young Junior size clothes which took into account undeveloped hips, did not allow for a chest, so they were out.
Clothes should not present this much of a challenge!!!!
Alittle off subject.....But Judy lol...I just got a chance to post from the first thread and to reply to 'are those all your dogs' question lolol...Not Even!! I have one dog, her name is Molly, she's shih tzu. My empty nest syndrome baby hehehe.
I really love coming to this thread, it makes me smile and laugh...you guys are too much! :-)
Hugs
Julie
Gosh, Judy - I feel for you! I have always been right off the rack. I even gain and lose in dress sizes - lol! I buy all of my clothes from catalogues and never have to have them tailored. My motto is: If I can't get it through a catalogue (or now on the internet) I don't need it!
No wonder you are sock-deprived. All that upheavel in your younger years left you damaged! Geesh - I cannot type or spell today. Perhaps I should have stayed home??? The drive in was quite painful. Everytime I went over a bumb in the road my leg started to throb. It is now so swollen I don't think I could get my jeans off if I tried. Hopefully the swelling will go down as the day swears on - I'd hate to have to cut off my favorite jeans!!!
Judy, I too suffer from the island syndrome. { Noass Atoll } straight skirts always hang too long in the back - unless I roll the rear waistband over an inch.
Guy's Levis fit my buns & hips just fine but always have a gap at the back.... what's with that?? In shorts, my skinny legs become obvious - to the extent that I heard one of my DDs say to the other... "How do you suppose they hold her up?"
Now with age comes the pot belly in front to take up the extra fabric from the rear. LOL But my arms are still too long for most ladies shirts so I wear men's as over shirts with my summer tank tops. THE SUN IS NOT OUR FRIEND anymore!so long sleeves are a must here in the desert.
I get my clothes second hand or from yard sales with the occasional 'brand new' item such as aforesaid jeans. somehow they accumulate [I think they breed in there]. So many hope this fits when I get it home, or when I lose that belly I'll be a 12 again. HAH.... as if. I've been waiting for _that_ to happen for several years now. ~Blooms
Funny thing is, at our age, even if we lose the weight, the body just is not the same! On the up side, all thay extra flesh is nice and squishy and can be jiggled into place nicely! LOL!
ROTFLOL! I think I know that man! LOL!
