CREATE A MEMORIAL PAGE TO DG'ERS WHO HAVE PASSED

Spokane, WA

Hello Dave...

i was wonderin... can we script our own epitaphs?

mine might read:

" If it grew, I watered it.. if it didn't, I mulched it.
Guess I got what i gave to this world --- Arod"

just wonderin... ;)

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Dave, JoanJ did mention that she'd like to do it and we've been in touch a few days ago in case you chose one of us, we planned to work together anyhow. Kathy :)

That would be quite difficult! You would need to have done this before hand.

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

I do not mind if I am not selected... I merely volunteered to help... I am quite happy if y'all want Joan and Kathy..

Hello Kathy! I haven't chatted with you in a while, missed your pleasant emails... :)

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I think that's an interesting idea, for someone to script their own epitaph if they so choose. Seems only fair. As long as it's within the DG Acceptable Use policy, of course, like everything else.

Of course, not everyone would be in a position to do this, or would necessarily want to - but for those who do, it's a nice option IMHO.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

When it's my turn to go, I just want my name on the list, to be remembered.

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

Darius, you are very special and we would not forget you. Starr

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Yes, Kathy and I have talked about this and agreed to help each other out if you chose one of us. I would be glad to do it.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Didn't realize you already had this wrapped up. I don't know very many people anyway, so I probably wouldn't be a good choice.

Good luck! I think this is a lovely idea!

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

THANK you so VERY much for doing this Dave!!
You are such a great man!!
Debbie

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

Wonderful idea. Thanks for doing this.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Hi Starr, I've missed our emails, as well. Dave did say that he needed 3 so I think that might mean myself, you, and JoanJ. :) That would be great, as we all get along well.

Sequee, I think you'd be surprised how many you know here :) My philosophy, if you're a DG subscriber, you're family.

Darius, We would have to put down more than your name. We just love you that much girl! In fact, we'd have to have several threads....Darius I, DariusII, DariusIII....get the picture LOL

Spklatt, I agree with you that if someone knows and can write their own words, we would put them down. You would have to private email one of the moderators with the info "to have and to hold" so to speak.

So, now we'll just wait for Dave to work his magic and creativity. Thanks Dave.

Happy Day,
Kathy

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

As always, Kathy, you hit the nail on the head! And so succinctly I might add... I ditto that. Starr

I have added fsr333, MistyMeadows, and Sequee to this group. If JoanJ pops in and says she's interested again then I will add her, too.

I'll send you three an email on what to do next.

dave

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I'm perfectly fine with the three you picked Dave. I know they will do a wonderful job.

I will keep my promise to help Kathy in any way I can though, as well as fsr333 and Sequee. Anytime you guys need anything, please feel free to email me.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Ok, Thank you Dave. I'll look forward to working with fsr333 and Sequee and perhaps JoanJ. :)

Now it's up to all of you/us subscribers to keep us abreast of the loss of DGers so that we can post them. Remember our names (MistyMeadows, fsr333, Sequee) so that you can contact any one of us. Together we will collaberate; it would be helpful if you have a link to a local newspaper that might have an obituary we can post as well. Together we can make this a wonderful memorial to all of our friends when the time comes.

Thank you all and thank you Berrygirl for first suggesting this, Kathy (MistyMeadows)

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

I love this idea and think we need it. Are we going back to past members? OR just going forward ? I know that didn't sound right but really didn't know how to say it any other way. MY point was do we need to send you info on members we know have been called home?

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I definitely think we should go back and make this all-inclusive! Perhaps we can start with the folks listed in this thread?

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

Kathy, Joan, I agree with Sequee to start with those listed in this thread and go from there. At the very least,we should include those who have departed in the the past 6 months.... Do you agree or is that too far back?

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

I may have misunderstood, but if i didnt, i feel we should go back to the beginning and include everyone...

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Me too Jen.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I think that anyone who was a subscriber of DG, and has passed on, should be included. I really don't think there will be so many that they can't be caught up from beginning to present, and from there it's just keeping up and watching the threads so they stay on tract. I think this thread mentions lots of those that have passed, and hopefully if there's others not mentioned in this thread, someone will send you an email and help you find the info to get it posted.

Dave, I'm thinking that a sticky note on the top of the forum with the information about how to contact the forum moderators for additions would be a good idea? That would eliminate any questions about who they should contact when they learn of a subscriber who has gone home.

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

MsJen, let us know who and we get to work. I am new, so I don't know everyone we have lost, but you and Berrygirl can help us with information. I may be speaking out of order, but I feel that all subscribers should be included and I am glad you brought that out.

If anyone wishes to pm me, please do so. Also, my email address is in the addy exchange.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

I agree it should have past members beyond 6 months.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

The ones that come to mind: I know there are more, i just cant pull them out.

MSJen and all. Let one of us know or all of us :) and we will get to work on it. Any information, i.e. dates of threads, etc. will be extremely helpful to us to get this off and running. ***PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEND US INFORMATION BY WAY OF PRIVATE EMAIL. ***

This is a good thing and I feel really good about it. Thanks again Dave and all.

God Bless,
Kathy

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Since DaleP6 is the only one of those mentioned, I'd like to start with her if that's ok???

BTW - I'm sure this is no news to you, but I was always told never to "assume" anything! LOL! You can get alot of information regarding our fellow subscribers by reviewing their threads and going into the Prayer Forum.

And perhaps kareoke would allow us to "borrow" the blurb on Greenwood for starters?

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Yep...DaleP moving on sure caught me by surprise.

However, our first loss (that I remember) was Tink. She was such a kind soul (most like still is!) and it took so many of us by surprise.

Thank you Dave, and also thanks to our new "Memorial Moderators".

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Be looking real soon for the new "In Memory Of" forum. You'll hear about it here when it starts as well. We are working on putting information together right now on those have gone on that we know of. If when this forum is up and running, you find that we have not posted someone, please furnish one of the moderators (MistyMeadows, fsr333, JoanJ, Sequee) with any information you have. Thanks, Kathy

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Just remember Mark Twain's comment when trying to decide if someone is gone or not. Let it not be said of any of us: "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated."

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

There was also someone named lillianna or something close to that. I remember her from a daylily co-op. If I have the wrong name, I am very sorry! I am going to go look. She was a dear woman, precious to many.

OMG I did have the name wrong!

Who was it, Badseed? Did you find her? I've been searching for someone, too.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

Badseed, you were right.

http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/398046/

go down towards October in the thread.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Thank you so much. I've been looking for two days and I had the Lil right. She was a sweet lady and I cried again reading this thread again. Again, thanks Badseed and Dea. :) Kathy

I think it should be everyone on DG that has passed on. I remember a very long time ago, it would have probably been around summer or fall of 2001, Dave posted at the top of DG when you log in that someone named Ola had died. I didn't know her but I do remember Dave posting that. You may have to ask him for the details on her.

Thank you Dave for this forum and thank you moderators for keeping it updated. God bless all!

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Vic, we will put on any subscriber, so please furnish any information you or anyone else has to the moderator names listed above. We are gathering it all and it is best to put in pm to any one of us so that we can collaberate on all. Thank you. Kathy(MistyMeadows)

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

That's right, I do remember that, Vic. I agree that we should post in tribute for any subscriber (or back then, just member) who's passed.

Yonkers, NY(Zone 5b)

I think a memorial page is a wonderful idea!

Thanks, Dave!

You mentioned some sore of designation under their name - especially if someone is replying to an old thread.

Might I suggest the afore-mentioned Forget-Me-Nots?
A little F-M-N icon under their name.

Nancy

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

An FYI to those who wanted to see this implemented, and who would like to share their memories of these DG members, the Memory Garden forum is up and running: http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/deceased/
