I am STUNNED as I looked thru some threads and found out jcf Janet passed away a few months back. I had been away from DG for a while and had no idea. I was gonna contact her and see how she was.
Would it be possible to do something like this at DG??
CREATE A MEMORIAL PAGE TO DG'ERS WHO HAVE PASSED
Berry,
This is too weird, I was thinking about this just today after reading a thread in the prayer forum.
We've lost a couple of our dear friends over the years.
I think its a great idea!!
Perhaps the "field" where the word "uber" is displayed on some instances could be used to indicate that the person has passed away.

There is a need, I agree. I made a few posts in the forums Janet frequented, but like any thread, they were soon buried.
That's a really good idea, Judy. Maybe "memorium" or something similar?
I concur... a Memorium Forum. Simply putting somethink next to or under their names would only work if we come across a post they made.
Greenwood is gone too. I don't know who all else.
Tink was another active member that has passed away.
Glory is another. I think something to honor their memory would be very nice.
WOW!!!!
Had no idea we had lost this many Dg'ers. Thanks for the input.
DAVE, if you're following this, what do you think??
Or maybe a specific page listed as "in memoriam" that is listed along with the A-Z & 0-9 member user name's so it's easy to find?
A place where their user Id's can rest in peace and their friends can visit them anytime to remember the good times that have been had here at Dave's Garden.
Mike
Mike, I think that's very well put.
In ham radio circles, when an operator passes away, they call it a "silent key" - referring to the old telegraph keys that were once used to tap out messages in morse code.
Did we ever get an answer on this question?
Shannon
I haven't been able to contact dodecatheon; has anyone any news?
No more posts, and no email returns either!

Add DaleP6 to the list of DGers who have passed over.
Judy
treelover3's suggestion sounds like the most ideal .. and, seemingly, the most feasible to put into place, and to access ...
berrygirl .. such a wonderfully sweet, sweet, sentiment.

Thanks for all the input.
YooHoo Dave....... could it be possible to do this??
I asked for something along these lines along time ago. I don't think we need a forum but a page or something maybe under extras a memorial page. I like treelover3's idea too something on the members list. Just something to remember subscribed members of DG that have graced us for a time.
Gosh, cannot believe we have lost DaleP6 too. I knew she was having problems, but it only reinforces my feelings about a memorial page. After all, these folks have contributed to our site, and who knows who might be next?? Me? You??
Gosh, I am one of those that doesnt get on as often as I would like, and am so saddened to hear of JCF and Dale's passing. how sad.
I agree, some type of memorial forum might be a good idea,
how sad. how sad. I had gotten some nice plants from JCF. in fact, I think it is probably her passion vine that I brought over to Turkey. oh, how sad.
Shortly after I joined DG, I remember reading the thread on the man who passed on while on vacation in AK. Wasn't that SugarFl's(sp?) DH? Was he a member also? (Please forgive me if my memory is playing tricks on me - wouldn't be the first time)
I like Mystic's idea...maybe in Extra's....Jo
I was trying to remember his name too Kooger and I'm pretty sure SugarFl's husband's name was Homer.
What a lovely idea this is in memory of our dearly beloved fellow-DG members who've passed on from this life. I concur with anything that is decided. I think this is a wonderful idea. Thanks Berrygirl. You are such a kind and thoughtful young lady. I love all the idea's
I hope Dave will see this soon and work on it.
Hugs
Julie
I too did not know of Janet's passing. She sent me a welcome gift when I first signed up. I don't think I ever got to know Dale.
Yes, Sugar_FL's hubby was a subscriber here, Greenwood.
Thanks, GW for the clarification!
Wonder how many others have passed over with no one to notify DG?
i vote for something too maybe in the extras.
I know we have something at hallsons at the bottom of the site its called
FAREWELL
Lillian was another and Tinker-Bleek gave us a special Iris when she passed!
I had No idea about DaleP
I didn't know about Dale, had been in prayer forum; but often just keep praying and don't always check back. What a sadness to out group when we lose one of ours.
This would be nice, I would like something that would let me know when I came across their post. If it was in extras I may not see it and try and e-mail them anyway. If some kind of memoranda was on their User name maybe where the City is this would let us know they have passed on. As you said eventually the threads go into the background and they are so far behind we won't see them much if at all.
I go through old threads and lots of people I dont reconized the names I sure some have just not kept up the membership but I am sure some have just passed on. I would like to know this information.

Along GW's lines, whose gentle icon is rather nice, how about something even softer in text?
"Firmly planted in our memories, yet their spirit soars on" (encircling the flowers)
"Heavenly Gardener"
"Passed Friend"
Once it is known that a dear member has passed, I think it would be appropriate to close out their DG email link after a period of time (in case the family wishes to use it in the meantime for sharing info regarding their loved one, funerals, and memorials), along with any existing tradelists that might pop up in searches.
Donna
A gentle bump as I read in other forums that some more DGers and/or their spouses have died.
Dave, would it be possible to have a memorial forum?
Berrygirl, I apologize for doing another posting requesting a memorial forum. I had no idea you had already requested one, which reinforces my reasoning to have this type of forum. I would not have found this had you not bumped it. I truly hope that Dave will consider this memorial forum, it is important to our entire community. Thanks, Kathy :)
Misty,
NO need at all to apologize as you haven't wronged me in any way whatsoever!!
You are just re-inforcing what a LOT of folks at DG would like to see.
Your post just helps the cause!!
Yoo-hoo Dave et al.
Berrygirl, keeping my fingers crossed :)
I'd really like to see one, too. If not a full forum, at least a memorial page.
Hear, hear. Whether it's a forum or a page, it would be nice to have the option to be notified if there are new postings.
What do you think so far, Dave?
Shannon
Dave???? I think it would be great too to have a forum in memory of our passed DG'ers and for their loved ones.
Dave????? Where are you???? Maybe a thread should be started with his name in the heading? Just a suggestion. or maybe email...?
I'm following these threads...
just not yet sure what to do. It'd be simple to create a forum, or else make a special flag (like my DG Admin flag) for the deceased, but it's such a sensitive subject... and the "challenge" is in the details.
dave
Oh wonderful Dave, you are out there! lol...glad to hear you're contemplating this issue. As you can see we all would love to see one. But we understand the challenge's you encounter. Keep us informed of your progression on this and thanks.
Julie
I do this for my chat group (60+) I put their picture with their handle underneath, and a little about them, everyone appreciates it so much, and they also find people they had missed but did not know they had passed away, if you would like to see how I did it check here.
