Here's a very handy seed container that may be new. Don't know if it's original but the idea came to me because of all the film cans I had on hand being an avid photographer.

Even if you don't shoot SLR 35mm film, next time you're around a 1-hour photo (Walmart, SAMs) ask for some empty film cans. They've got bags. (film cans refer to the plastic containers the film comes in. Kodak is black as shown but some are clear)

Air and light tight. You can write on the covers and they stack so nicely.
AND it comes in hand to have a few in your glove box/door cubby and a felt tip for the adhoc snatchin'! Leaving Abbott Park I stopped and snagged some Eupatorium Gateway (Joe Pye weed) seeds, then thought this method may be of use for my partners in pilfering.

p.s. The plastic bag has the castor beans and I'm leaving this cookie can open till I'm done collecting for the season

I can see how the canisters would work great with dry seeds, but I use open cups so that the seeds can dry out before I store them. Everytime I use a ziplock bag or other sealed container, I forget to open them up later. Of course, that's just me. You've probably got a lot better memory than I do!

nope... just collect dried seedheads or depending on the plant, let them finish ripening in a little plastic tray or something. The only thing I've had go bad recently were the castor beans I just discovered from last November in a can with Peacock orchids that were trying to sprout. The beans were a bit fuzzy from the moisture the P.O.s added. whoops

NC, you folks that visit Dave's at work should come up with some helpful tips on how to laugh out loud without seeming inappropriate to the office environment. If you spew coffee, I'd suggest a sneeze. A box of tissue on the desk can offer muffled laughter that can end with a good nose blowing. Cough drops might look convincing.... just a few ideas.

Magpye used it all up trying to make spaghetti sauce... it wasn't pretty.

That's the best campin spaghetti with the ketchup, nice hot dog nice and burned on one side, did yall want a hot toddie? I brought some nice tea and a bottle of spirits for us all!

I'll share a nip with you, then I'm heading to my sleeping bag. I'm going to take a coupl antacids... don't tell Magpye, but that was some weird spaghetti.

Weez - (can I call you Weez?) you stop that right now!! Here it is first thing in the morning and you have me spewing coffee AGAIN!!! My IT department is going to wonder why I keep needing all these new keyboards!!! It's been raining here days and days now.... Have pine straw to spread this weekend and it's going to be heavy and gross! Haven't had a good snatch fix either!!! Anyone ?? anyone?? Me need a good story!!

I go off fer one lone walk to canvass the area .. and, jes look at the sitchayshun I come and brang myself back here to find.
Now jes hold on to your bottom dwellers here jes a dadburn'd minnit!!

.. I'll have all of you to know, that any camping, and with some of the most 'ruffin it' that there'd ever be - would not include having to resort to using my Ketchup fer mah sketti sauce !! If'n I can't make my sketti (and for that matter - my own chilli) .. without having to resort to feelin' that I haint got no choice .. but, to hafta use ketchep - - welllll, it jes haint gonna happen, with this ol gal!

If'n I'd've not had the sense to bring all my supplies along - - I'd have long done been obliged mahseff to diggin a lil deeper into 'em dumpsters till I'd've found amply nuff cans of t'mater sauce and paste!! And a good chance, that I've even went into herb snatchin' at some point along the route .. for my wee seasoning. But oddly enuff - nope, I don't make my own sketti noodlers tho' either!
Now don't get me wrong here .. ketchup's certainly got it's place. Like with fries, on a good egg sammich, and one dandy requirement on a homemade hamburger - but not with my sketti and chilli sauces!

Weez, fetch yaseff a shot of that spirited hot 'totty' that hanna1's got - and you'll ferget all about what you thought ya mite've needed any antacid fer! And if'n ya body had a thought of introducing a fever to ya - the idear will be fast removed .. for you'll swet like the dickens during your sleep .. and the fever'll be run off by mornin', I tell ya! You'll rear up ready to snatch directly from the White House lawn !!!
Hmmm, I wonder if any body's ever done 'at, while currousin' about on any tour there ? .. Thar's always a first time, I reckon !!

I'll be shore to pack up the axe, a hatchet, and the bow saw .. along with the chainsaw .. for any camp fire wood cuttin'. For there's surely gonna be far more times that we jes haint gonna be able to fire up no chain saw. Don't wanta alert no security unnessi-sarily you know ...

Heck, I mite cook up a batch of Magpye chilli yet .. with it turnin' a mite bit cooler tonite!

Oh, love the campfire. Warming up, crocheting a bib for NC to wear when she signs on to keep unwanted liquids out of her keyboard, imaging the real sound of Mag's voice. I just jerked a leaf off my fake plant in my office - ahhhh - feel better now!

You know, Magpye, I'm gettin' that sinking feeling... as I recall, we got that ketchup out of the dumpster, and maybe that wasn't sketti in the bottle at all... maybe that ketchup had done gone bad with tape worms or somethin'. Lookin' on the bright side, I should lose some weight! Maybe I should have a big bowl of that spicy hot chili to head em off at the pass. Shoot, if you guys have to worm me, I know you won't let me ride in the bus, and I know I'll never keep up runnin' along side!

OMG....is that why I am, uh, ne'er mind. Sheez. NO MORE FOOD outta da garbages unless it's sealed, k? I know! I know! I learned this one in college. Vodka! It will de-worm anything in one bottle. We will just pop you on da bus and let you sleep it off. We would NEVER consider leaving you behind or letting you run alongside. Whose bogarting the marshmellows?

Not a problem - I have a million square foot warehouse FULL of food within walking distance! No more eatin' out of dem dar dumpsters! Course now we will be getting our ketchup by the gallon and our mellows by the 5# box!

I confess... I bogarted the marshmallows if you mean hangin' on to the bag. Actually, I sat on the bag. I guess that would be more like Fat Alberting the marshmallows. Ah, well, they'll fit better in th s'mores now.

Sorry, ladyannne... It must be my fault. I'm probably the only one here with the capacity to sit on eight cats and a hat without noticing it. I once drove all the way into town feeling curiously uncomfortable, only to discovered I'd been riding 5 miles atop a phillips screwdriver.

STOP THAT !! I had to take my glasses off to wipe away the tears!!!

I haven't been out of the house in about two weeks, but today I have to go to town to get my Thanksgiving Day produce. I'm wearing my crimpers and making my way down to the Alaska Sea Life Center where they have some nice Achillea ptarmica just calling to me and shaking it's little seedheads, mocking me!

I can't say much though, once when my kids were little I was walking through the living room, turned my head and my hair swung out in a wide circle. Thinking that was strange, I looked down and there was a matchbox truck in it!!! Making itself right at home! I have no idea how it got there or how long it had been there!
