Seed Snatchin' Part IV

Here's a continuation of the confessions and plotting of the Cleptobotaniacs and Dumpster Diving Divas. I think we left hanna back there again. She just posted after my link to the new thread... didn't we do that to her last time, too, or was that Ladyannne?

Oh, Hanna should repost that last one again. Can we take a break and get sobby for a sec? JUST a sec, then return to our manical, inane selves. (Should I edit that to say insane or leave it as it is? hmmm...)

Laughter IS crucial, especially on the hard days, during layoffs and hard times. Friendships are crucial, especially in these days when people just aren't the way they used to be in your town anymore. Thanks to the internet, we have all met 'sissies' and brothers across the entire world, people we will know and write to the remainder of our lives, where twenty years ago it was simply impossible. Iowa was just some strange state waaaaaay out there to me before I brought my first Commodore home.

I started the Aol Baby Boomer pages in 1995 or so, based on about 1500 people who would meet (49 at a time) in the Aol Baby Boomer chat room, and we wanted to know what we all looked like. Most of us have even met each other at real life boomer parties across the US over the years. It was a wonderous room! We would gather, laugh, sing, play, chase the guys around the room, play dice, discuss painting the walls, moving the hot tub, share coffee and drinks (_)> and just laugh lighten up our days. Boy, do I miss that room. This thread has lighten my days, sooo much, thank you, each and everyone of you for the silliness, imaginations, the challenges and the plain outright fun.

So, are we gonna paint the bus and if so, what colour ARE we going to paint the bus? Can I put one itsy bitsy teensy weensy hippie flower on it? Pleeeease?

Well for gracious sake one of us needs to go get her!

This IS the best place I've been, when real life monkeys takes you down, and your feeling sad, or bad, to come here and belly laugh so hardy, is good for your health as I have heard even the Doctors say, and for so long I thought, gosh I have a problem, I look at my bagels, the veggie at the grocery store, the nuts on the table, the spices in my cabinet, I've planted a lot from stuff I wondered about, makes us human I suppose to wonder, right? They do throw away the beautifull flowers relatives and friends bring their loved ones at the cemetary, why not replenish those, I sure would think they're looking down at us with pleasure, better than the garbage dump I say!
And why not pick seeds everywhere we go, those get trown away as well, ditched forever.... We're doing a service I say, to regrow such beauty, don't you agree? Thanks you guys for keeping this conversation going for so long, I'm sure some here are house bound, can't really get around much anymore, what a joy to dream and play, and laugh about our bodily woes of old age, and the things we wish that we could do if given the chance, If I did win the lottery I would take you all with me on a real Road Trip of of our lives, Annie

I took my little one to the doctor's office today, hee hee hee, got me some snapdragon seeds, some flowerin Maple seeds, heck, We had 15 minutes to spare, so did some deadheading for them down at Kaiser, snip snip, snip snip!!!!
I get back here after being gone since 3pm, I'm ROTFLMAOF, however you spell that thang, I can hardly breathe,had to get a tissue to wipe my eyes, go to the bathroom, DH is shackin his head again, young one wants to know why Mom's caring around them clippers, told him they're not cutting off the dead flowers, so I am, LOL LOL LOL, He hands me a bag, knows what I'm up to that little squirrel!

But ladyanne it's true dumptrucks are fun and loaded with potential opportunities!
'Cept when you get a flat tire, or all the hydraulic fluid leaks out at the dump with the bed up... or you get stuck in the mud. (All of which has happened in the last few weeks!) and I won't even mention the gas station incident...

hanna1, I think your yellow flower might be some kind of hypericum... or could be a primrose of some sort but I'm leaning toward hypericum.

About cemetary snatchin'- I have to agree magpye, yuccas are yuccy, but I sort of like some of the new variegated ones...

Have you ever heard of the Texas Rose Rustlers? They rescued some great old roses from cemetaries. They used to be my heroes- until I found you guys!!!!
There is info about them at the antique rose emporium.

Gas station incident?

OK, Oceangirl, pull up a chair by the fire and tell us about the gas station incident.

Well I finally decided to click 'Watch Thread' DUH...

Hmmm.... I wouldn't mind hearing about the gas station one meself.....

There are a dozen or more women hovered around the camp fire in the deep, ancient woods, some in rocking chairs, others in camp chairs, some leaning against the smooth, large nearby circle of rocks that cast shadows out into the surrounding forests. A brilliant crescent moon dances its light down between the tall trees onto the group. A hot pot of water bubbles happily over the camp fire, sticks carved to a point hold marshmellow toasting to a perfect golden brown on the coals. Nearby, an owl screeches as it suddenly leaves it hidden perch in search for adventure, it's wings open and full, diving gracefully past the fire and off into the darkness. The women wait quietly, slightly uneasy, glancing at each other with slight smiles, trying to ignore the shivers that tap at their shoulders, waiting for the tale to be told.

Woman that sounds just awesome since I am sitting here working for THREE people in addition to my 'job!'

I'll take campfire stories any day...

In the old thread, I was wondering if cruising the high-rent district and pilfering their nicely bagged leaves qualified? It sure gets looks from the neighbors but then in the middle of the summer they're asking why things get so big and bloom all the time.

and the ceramic pot there on the corner was found on the curb after people moved out. It has a quarter sized piece broken out of the bottom. PERFECT! Makes a dandy hose guide and those lilies you see growing in them were started from bulbils I discovered growing along the stems at a golf course. :)

Equilibrium befriends keeper of the gate to the County Dump! Gate keeper lets Equilibrium hand pluck box window fans right from trucks as they are being unloaded!

I am one with my four new box fan window grates that I had been trying to get for over a year for recessed germination planters! Hi hi! Hi ho! It's off to the dump I went! Talk about whistling while you work! I was happier than a pig in slop!

Last spring somebody called me to tell me the local fish cannery was throwing out plastic roe boxes at the dump. She told the guys that work there to save them for me. I jumped in my trusty, rusty ol' truck, Bruno, and off we raced to pick up the booty! What a score! There must have been a hundred of 'em! They're about 14X14" square and about 8" deep. I've been sharing them with my garden friends around town... just great for planting a bit of lettuce or herbs in! I've got a standing order in at the dump for old window blinds, as well... use 'em for plant tags.

Today, as I was on my way to PvillePlanters to pick up some of her cast offs, I stopped by a Jack In The Box for a snack (which I eventually wore on my shirt - so much for good first impressions.) But I digest, um, digress. As I was turning into the driveway I noticed the berries on the nandinas around the trash cans area.

When I came out with my food I quickly took out all the food out of the bag and went over to the nandinas and liberated some of the berries.

Which reminds me of the seeds I harvested from the 2 different palm trees at the Taco Cabana Monday and the red yucca pods at the Exxon station down the street from there....

I thought of you guys and had to smile.

My DD and I love the term 'Cleptobotaniac' ! Would anyone be interested in a T-shirt that has that term, a daffynition and some graphics on it? My DD is a graphics designer and would be willing to design something for us and we get get cafepress.com to print them up. We could even make a dollar or two off of them and donate it to the DavesGarden fund (same as quilt raffle).
