Beautiful, Delicate Morning Glorys Cont. #3

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks Alice!

Cathy, that dbl red looks amazingly like the feathered one(s) "Hige", "Sunrise Serenade" etc....pretty. Is yours one that just has a number and no name?

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Yeah, Moon and I are on the same track, check this out and see what yall think.

Yours do look a little more ruffely so we will keep looking in the mean time.

Yes, it could be that. I'll get more pictures when the rain stops, probably on Saturday. This plant is huge, and it's loaded with blooms. But a lot of the blooms are hidden, I keep trying to pop them out some so I can see them. The foliage is beautiful, nice large heart shaped leaves. There were no names with the seeds, just small pictures like Gourds. Cathy

I am totally in love with the morning glory family! I have my first moon flower growing now...I just love it. I want to cover my whole fence with morning glory and moon flower! I had no idea there were so many varieties. I am in Oregon, and I am pretty sure they will grow annually.

Awesome pictures everyone. I really enjoy looking at them.

cbrandenberg, don't you just love those, the small silk looking one is really a prolific bloomer. Please post more photos, I would love to see them. Here is one that opened today, with the double bud.. this one looks kind of a fuscha/deep purple color. Yours looks red, I wonder if they are two different ones.. here it goes..

Sticker, I haven't had any luck with my moonvines, they are growing very slowly and look stunted.. I would love to see photos of yours.

Moon, here are some photos of this one. it might be that feathered one you were talking about.

Hattie Bell and friend, this one just bloomed out of nowhere. Well, there are two plants in the pot, both should be Hattie Bell, just wondering if it changed colors on me, I moved it back to the spot under the tree two days ago, and it has gotten lots more light and sun.

love them all Gourd, they are blooming very nice now!!

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Wow Gourd those are just so, so pretty keep your eye out for seed. I have one seed that sprouted of Hige and it has yet to bloom so I don't know if I will get any seed off mine this year. This is a keeper for sure........
Yeap are very pretty flower.

Is Hige the double budded one? Will definitely gather seeds of all of them if they seed. For the life of me, the Mt. Fuji and the Large pink are not holding their buds in place, the whole stems just fall off.. The weather here has cooled drastically, so there should be some changes in several of the MGs. Believe it or not, there are still about 20 varieties that have not bloomed yet, some did not germinate, and some are just plain different .

I was reading somewhere on the web, and it seems that Cameo Elegance and Mini Bar Rose are the same MG. Is that true? None of the Parks Mini Bar Rose seeds germinated, but I do have a couple of plants that are labled Cameo Elegance.

Gotta go buy some jeans for hubby today.. so off to work I go (shopping)...lol..

Mesilla Park, NM

golgi, I just did a search for Cameo Elegance Mini Bar Rose.. it looks like that is what you have up there that you thought was Mt. Fuji without spokes..

edited to say: Both are the one and the same... also, can you all tell, this is my first year growing these... boy have I got alot to learn..

edited to say: Lets all collect and trade our seeds with each other... I am getting more pots and start stocking up for the next season..

WOW Breezy that is awsooooome.
Dee :)

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

LOL Thanks, it actually came to me marked as double pink fringed.

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Wow, that purple feathered is beautiful. I was wondering if my MG is darker redish color because of the cool weather. It's been in the low 50's for nights and upper 60's and 70's for day temps. Cathy

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

I will be glad to trade with you gourd!.....

Laurrie, that purple feathered is great!

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Cathy, I think it is just the color, everyone of my blooms look the same color as yours, truly a deep nearly full red. They are beautiful!! Here is a side shot of mine

Thanks for the compliments on the purple feathered, I expected pink, but shoot purple will do just fine

Hello to all. New here, just joined last night. I wanted to plant morning glories this year, but waited too late...bummer. Then this morning I saw these. I did not plant them...it's a new house, bought it in Feb. of this year and I'm still being surprised by new flowers. Wish I knew what was eating them, though.

Hi Sandi and welcome to Dave's, I can promise you that you will love it here. Be sure and go back and look at the other two posts of all of the MG's.
This is one of my favorite threads!
We are so fortunate to have all of these wonderful folks willing to share their photos and their knowledge.
I wish I could help you out where your bugs are concerned, it seems to be a rather vicious year for the little critters.
I think there is a forum for posting thsoe kinds of problems though and I would guess one of the folks here can help you figure it out.
There are so many knowledgable and helpful people here you will be amazed!

This is Tie Dye Pink from Parks (looks like the Heian no Kagayaki with the white specks that bloomed earlier). It's huge.

edited for spelling...

Last one for today. This is another one from the person in China, it is a small red/pink one, it has had three blooms and none really opened well to get a good photo, but there are more buds forming so will try to post a better one later on.

Sandi2k2, welcome to daves, you have some nice plants there and your yard looks so green. It could any number of critters eating your plants. On mine, I found some grasshoppers munching away.. you may want to keep your eye out for those, some are sooooo tiny and some are huge, so you may not spot them right away.

The photo Moon took is the big one I was expecting to open this morning, well this is as good as it got. Moon took the picture Sunday, it should have been open Monday morning, Well it didn't..... Drats, I can't belive it and I was all ready with the camera and all. I had even left the camera in the wash room so it wouldn't fog up when I took it outside,........ shoot nothing.......
But they are setting seed so we should have some for next year......and I am hoping they will do like the other ones and start to open better a little later on.......... :(

Poor Sandra, I feel soooo sorry for you, but I am saving you some seed......

Dee

I put my thermometer under there and it registered 116 so these babies weren't wiltin for nutin.....But can you belive that are still on the vine at alll, wow these are some really hardy whites.... :)
