Beautiful, Delicate Morning Glorys Cont. #3

Mesilla Park, NM

Here are some of todays blooms.. will start with what I think is Star of Yelta, but not sure.. then will post Star of Yelta, Grandpa Otts, and Kniolas side by side.. there is a difference, but just very subtle differences..

Here is Grandpa Otts, this one was labeled, I hope it is also correct.

And the Kniolas today.

Carried the pots and placed them on each side of the Kniolas.. starting with what I think is starting from left to right, Grandpa Otts, Kniola, and Star of Yelta.. I thought it would be nice to see them next to each other, otherwise they really look alike to me.

Gourd,
I am so happy to see your MG's are blooming so well! I was kinda worried you had gotten a late start. Very pretty blooms you have there!

Gourd, lovely color whatever they may be! I am glad they turned out so well for you this year.
I have some that are pale pale lavender with a dark stripe in them, no name, just had them for years, perhaps someone could set the record straight on this one?

From what I can see you have them tagged correctly. The Grandpa Otts are really strikeing, soooo intense blue.......I like them. That is one the critters managed to kill and none surived to bloom I am really sorry that I didn't get any blooms from them.........
Yours all look really look nice Gourd.

This is my newest to Bloom this morning, it look like the one you got from Parks Seed Gourd........LOL......so much for the Japanese This is Mt Fuji Tye Dye. It is about 4 to 4 and a half inches wide and is pretty hardy. It is in sun most of the day but does have evening shade. I will plant it again I love the coloring and would like to try some crosses with the Chocolate Silk.

Mountainmeadowseeds, which one is that pinkish one. It is nice.. really like that one..

None of the Convolvulus Blue Enchantment seeds germinated. They look great, looks like I will be trying again. Is that white one of the same variety?

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I planted 6 each pink, red, light blue and dark blue convolvulus seeds this spring and only about 4 out of the bunch germinated, and then they promptly died. I don't know what is going on with all my mg seeds this summer. I'm beginning to wonder if there is something in our water that is deterring germination. I know there is a lot of chlorine and fluoride.

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

willow I really like the pic with the two together with all most opposite coloring, I can see why you want to grow that one again!

Willoughby, OH(Zone 5a)

Hi,everyone!Been awhile since I've posted, and looking at all the MG pictures is delicious! I have a MG flower I purchased from e-bay called "Henka Asagao".After some quick research I found that it iust means "mutant Morning glory".Other people have bought these seeds and are refering to them as "Henka"elsewhere on the web. Can anyone identify it and provide a REAL name? Thanks,Gail

Also,is this rose one just a mount Fuji without the spokes?

I had one earlier that was simular to this one. Mine was a lot darker but I also had it in the shade and took the photo in the shade so maybe thats why it was so dark. I only got a couple of blooms off it as that was during the great Armadillo night raids, and lost it to the varmits. But I think the blue might be, "Shiun" which means "Purple Clouds" What do the leaves look like?

You can look at the thread here, some may disagree and they may be right I am just offering another comparison.....

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Golgi, is this the darkest the blue gets? If so then it is not Shuin, I went and looked at my discription on the database and it is a deep blue purple.
I will keep looking and see what I can come up with and some of the other will to......
Pam, Laurrie, Donna or Arlene should come up with something........... nothing like pressure huh girls.....

LoL

Willow ,I went outside and picked a bloom for comparison and it is definitly darker than the photo indicates.Bluer than "Hatsu Arashi" (which I think has alot of purple in it) but several shades darker than "Heavenly Blue" And it has a PINK throat. Maybe "delphinium blue"?

Willoughby, OH(Zone 5a)

OK,That was silly..."delphinium blue"? I have about seven shades of delphinium on my deck right now! let's see...Check out the color of delphinium in the bottom right hand corner of picture

LoL........see whatch mean... if you have other blooms on the same vine that are much darker, a purple blue than it could be Shuin. I really hope it is and that you get lots of seed, this is a really pretty one and I got no seed from mine, it would be a good keeper and one to have on hand........

Dee,thanks so much for the Id help.I plan to save seeds, and these are planted in a pot by themselves, but there are many other MGs on the deck with them...just Itching to cross, the HUSSIES!So cannot guarantee the "purity" of the seeds.

I am sure I am not the only one that is very frustrated over things not being what they are supposed to be. I am mostly only annoyed at the ones I bought. GGGRRRRRRR

WW your Japanese Mt Fuji is beautiful..

PudgyMudpies, I just love the Rose Silk you sent.. I can't stop looking at it, it has bloomed everyday since the first bloom. Some of mine are that way, blooming different and two colors too..

This one is a double bud... a trade from China, and the photo will follow. She cut pictures of the flowers but had no names on them. This one has not bloomed yet, probably tomorrow.. just wanted to show you all the bud inside the bud..

Donna, you got some exotic bloomers there :P ...lol! Man the things you can get on Ebay.....

Golgi, I know the "Henka Asagao" is aka "Blizzard", if that helps....the pink one comes from the sun mix.

MountianMS, you have some great color combos. Is that little purple one a wood rose?

Gourd, post a picture of that double when it blooms - it will be interesting to see it. I am wondering if it is like the feathered ones.....I'm lovin all your other blooms!

Here is one I have today.......
