Congrates Art_N ! ...does it smell sweet and lovely?????

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

:D yes it has a very soft, sweet scent. I have stuck my nose in it about 24 times already lol

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Way to go art! That is lovely......I have read that the germs from your nose will kill plummies! Be careful!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Aaaaaaah the sweet smell of success!! Congratulations Art! :D

Weeds if that is the case mine will be in big trouble!

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

I hate it when I send a post and I forget to hit the sent button!

I'm not far from Marc at all, just a 2 hour catamaran ride harbour to harbour. We don't get to Seattle much, but to get some plumeria's. I'm sure we could arrange it ;) Let me know when I'm going south! heh hehe

Linda we could meet most any weekend. Anacortis, Port Angeles, or Seattle proper.....or if it works out right even Vancouver as the SO if trying to get me to take a road trip up.

If you ladies are serious about this you can certainly use my home address as the shipping address. I'll gladly help get them to you in Canada....I promise I won't keep any for myself....honest :-)

Just a word of warning to yall.

If you order from Aloha Palms, you might ask them to ship your cuttings in a box. Since they have a toll free phone number, I would use it to make the order and discuss these issues.

I ordered 10 from them and they came taped up in a bundle in one of those green and white envelopes. No protections from being crushed in other mail at all. (not even bubble wrap) Although mine seemed fine, I did eventually lose 3 and another one of our members received her's in very poor condition.

Also, Pam, the rainbows are a little more difficult to root out. So you might want to get 3 to increase your odds of survival.

Of the 10 assorted colors that I got, I lost 2 rainbows and 1 apricot to rot.

Definately good prices for the cuttings at $1.99 each.

OMG! Great links to wonderful choices, I think I'll take 2 of everything, well, at least that's what I'd like, although I know that it's not feasible. As with most of my flower tastes, fragrance is high on the list, bigger flowers, and variable colours. I"ll look at the offerings and figure out what I'd like.

Marc, my SO is after me too for a road trip. My preference would be Anacortes, We've never been through the San Juans, we could make a date for a meal somewhere.

If we get them within the next month or two, could/would they still root if they are on a heating mat and under a gro light? I assume starting them when it's warm out would be ideal. Marc, are you into Brugs? Want to get a couple of cuttings, then we'd both have our photos in the post office for cross border wheeling and dealing! LOL

Linda

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Hopefully one of the experts will jump in and answer your question...

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

LOL .....Linda I'd love a couple more Brug cuttings. My very first bloom opened last evening (See Brug forum for pic)....but it's not at all necessary.
As for them rooting I would say probably....they would just need good warmth and light. But it might be something you'd want to just let stay dormant till next Spring.
Aloha Palms or whom ever you orderf rom would I'm sure no better than I as I am just a beginner where these things are concerned.

Looking good. Glad to see it arrived safe and sound.

Your plumeria is safe as well now. I ordered 20 from the aloha palms link. Figured I'd get their 5 cutting minimum, but I just couldn't stop clicking "add to cart".

I can hardly wait to see pictures of your new yard in bloom! :D

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

...gosh that beautiful 'pot' looks familiar! lol Bet you won't repot it for a lo-o-ong time!!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

LOL....wanna bet? ;)
How was your trip?

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

uneventful - guess that's good when you're heading home. :) Thanks so much for the dolly - she's precious! I do like that kind of 'dust collector' (as my DH calls everything!) GD loves her too - but I really didn't want her playing with her too much. Here we are on 'Soot'. Amanda, DS's girlfriend is on the left.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Glad you like her. :) My precious new additions have grown already.....so much fun to see new growth happening *even* here! ;)

What a precious girl....and Grandma looks really good too! Was the picture taken here? The skies look familiar....you were lucky to get warmer weather, it's really cool right now.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Yes, the horses were just a short walk up the drive, same road. We were in the very last camping area, Group A. The first 2 days were warm but then it cooled off a bit and just got to the mid 70s the rest of the week - which was great! Kids would have liked it a tad warmer for the waterslide and beach. We took a long canoe ride on the lake too. This was the small lake on the north side of the camp, not Lake Kenosee. Really ucky water!! lol Glad we didn't tip it!

I won a prize too! It's called the 'Kooger Classic' and started in 1990 with our first reunion. My BIL rented a boat and hit a rock so hard it totally destroyed the prop. Unrepairable. So 2 bros had it mounted on a trophy base, with a 'Ziggy' on top and BIL's famous quote "I mighta nicked it!" engraved on the bottom. They made a bunch of rules, like at least 3 siblings and/or offspring must be present, can't be awarded more often than yearly, etc. etc. (rules get changed sometimes too!)

So, what I did was made a cereal box door for that little slider door to access the handle on an RV. But I didn't realize that it is bumped in, in order to avoid the push in lock. So when we got back from canoeing, GD and niece ran to use the bathroom and when they came out, slammed the outside door and we were locked out. I didn't realize what had happened, thot DH had left and locked it, which struck me as strange, but oh well. So he gets back and no, he didn't lock it. And the only key is locked inside. DUH!! He did some fancy finagling with a coathook and got it open! It was the dumbest thing anyone did (or got caught doing) all week. I'll post a pic when we get the trophy here. :) But I got my bro back a bit. Bought a book on ebay for him as the host this year. His name is Charles Kooger and the book is 'Charlie, The Lonesome Cougar' so that was good for a few laughs.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

LOL....sounds like you all had a great time! It's a shame about Kenosee, the drought has really hurt it. When I was a child it was crystal clear but with only springs to fill it the weeds have really taken over.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

Lilypon.....

Have the buds opened yet?

Please post updates.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Soon! :D

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Won't be much longer for this one.... I hope it's one of the rainbow ones, but at this point I don't care what color it is I just want to smell that smell.............. ahhhhhhhhh

Thumbnail by RikerBear
Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Oooh Marc how exciting for you and the color looks so promising :D....we've been waiting sooooooooo long to get this close!!!!

I have one bud that looks like that but unfortunately many others bit the dust with the cooler temps here. :(

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh I hope your bud opens for you! It would break my heart to not have you suceed this year....but there's always next year I suppose.
I just can't wait for these buds to start opening! I can already smell them in my minds eye....and oh how sweet it is.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I've got one that looks very promising......at least I now know what color it is! It's the fourth coldest summer we've had, the last one was in 1909. Last year was one of the hottest......but my plant is very healthy and I'm pretty sure I'll have at least one bloom. Here, like the farmers, we live in next year country........I know I'll have another chance for a full flush! :)

Please post again when they are open Marc and don't forget to describe the scent! :D

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

Marc your plumie looks wonderful. I bet it is a rainbow, mind you, any thing would be great. Daily photos OK??!!

Lilypon, you said you know what colour yours is, well, don't keep us in suspense!

Linda

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Imma still hoping it will open all the way! ;) Will post pic of just bud if it doesn't.

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

LILYPON, Just thought I would let you know that my prize "Plumie-in-the-pot has grown so big, with such huge leaves that it's so top heavy every breeze tips it over. I know it has to go in the ground, but for now the pot is tied securly to the pergola post until these storms get pass. We dodged Charly, but Earl is still an "iffy". My Pandora vine is covering the pergola nicely, but it sure won't last through a good blow.
Pati

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I sure hope that all the upcoming hurricanes miss Florida Pati......or at least are at *much* lower categories!! I find storms exciting but when a tornado came close to here this summer you realize just how dangerous mother nature can be. I hope your plants do well....can you bring them inside if need be? I have a Pandorathat is still a baby.....a good size for overwintering inside.

I actually saw a variegated Pandora in Regina....I am soooooooooo tempted!! ;)
