Then on to the Wall of Cardinal RED.What fun it is to create rather then to hunt and destroy. Great hobby! I have got to find all these wild colors. Byyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye!

Prattville, AL(Zone 8a)

AWESOME pic's.....I'd love to have just half of your collection....OMG! They are all Beautiful

Will there be another co-op fr these seed or do you have any available?

Thx, Carol

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

WWasp - there is something about a full Heian Izumi that seems like such an accomplishment. Mine were prone to tearing - but, such a feeling of elation when a perfect one forms, the wind hasn't torn it up or ripped because of weight. These ones were not very good to set seeds (for me), but you should be able to get a few.

I'm taking my co-op allotment from this year and will try to plant them next year when I get more settled.

In the meantime, I have this thread bookmarked and love devouring any new pictures...

oh that is just gorgeous! brightened my gloomy rainy day here ;)

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

Look at all these pictures do you see one thing they all have in common (yes! They all are are beautiful) They are all shot srtaight on , from above. It's almost like a graduation picture. I know it's hard to get down on the ground, but a different angle( side shot?) spreads the look and makes those National Geographic shots that you remember forever. If you camera has a white balance setting (shade, sun etc,) Use it because in shade the color leans toward too much blue, or doesn't do the right contrast to the delicate nature of these pastel beauties. My camera has a chrome setting(Standard,Chrome, B/W) along with the others. It brings up the color in a picture where it normally would be washed out. THe great thing about these camers is that you can shoot 20 shots see which is the best and dump the rest. try it, and add a little spice to these HOT Flowers!

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

This is my Flying Saucer tower 8ft by 3ft it will be (sounds like Yoda from Star Wars). I made it stong. Hey! I have new blue Hibiscus seeds. Woo! Woo! Tradin, tradin. Does anyone have some MG cool seeds like hint, hint Willow to trade? I will take all on comers!

Had to find a picture worthy of the seeds. The flowers last for about 3 times as long as regular hibiscus. They go through blue, purple, and violet color changes. They flower and flower over and over.Hardy to 25f and make a great container plant.

Hummmm, I posted a reply but it's not showing up......oh well again....
No seeds yet of the Japanese MG's but I haven't started to collect any. They are just begining to set pods. When I get my back up supply I will be tradin for sure.....
I will keep you in mine Monterey.... :O)
Dee

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

Pudgy was saying that the Japanese ones are harder to grow. Is that true?. You were my inspiration for my tower. I saw the Flying Saucers at Walmart, and thought of you, thanks! Send me an address an I'll send you the seeds, I was just being funny. Ever feel like your out on a limb!

Maybe we ought to start a bdmg 2 this thread is getting long, cool ,but long!

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks Laurrie! I really wish it was raining here. I really need it.

Ok, the dunce that I am I have figured out why my pictures are coming out so hazy. It is horribly hot and humid here right now that my camera lens is fogging up on me - I wiped it off this morning but I guess the inside part was still foggy at 7 am.....

Second note is that the "no Beni" is really that color. I have done some things to it and have dispelled some myths about MG's - and I guess it shows.

monterey - I don't know about the other posters but it is really hard to get good bottom shots on some based on where my vines are planted (due to flower beds, other plants and various obstructions) plus the lowness of the blooms right now....I guess we are just showing them off first thing right now - but as the blooms get higher who knows what miracles we may be able to do....lol. Anyways, I went back out and piddled around, so these next shots are just for you.....

This a list of the seeds that have germinated so far:

Sunrise Serenade - from Dee (pudgymudpie)
Tie Dye Pink
Tie Dye Blue
Heian no Kagayaki
Heian no Yosooi
Heian no Izumi
Joyce Cobb (they just now germinated after 2 months)
Vickie Harding (also just now germinated after 2 mos)
Mt Fuji
Red Rose (from Dee pudgymudpies)
Double Pink Picotte (from Dee pudgymudpies)
Kniola Blacks (reseeded for me)
Orange Noah (just not growing too fast)
Blue Silk (don't know where I got this)
Jap. Picotee Dwarf MG
Andersoni (T & M)
Rose Silk
(small light blue mg - the seeds were white)
Moonflower - light blue with red center ???

I traded the noah and Kniola with you WW for some of the fuzzy pink vine seeds and I had already put in an SASE for some but did not know it.. so I got a double batch. Which was a good thing, since I did not soak the first batch and none came up. I have one more smaller morning glory growing but had labeled it Moonflower, it is a very small light blue which is getting ready to bloom a second bloom. The first one was eaten by a bug but I did take a photo, just waiting a for a better photo.

Hopefully I will get some seeds from these to trade. I have an awful feeling that the one gallon pots they are in are not going to let them grow very much.

This photo is the one that has some bug damage and is labeled moonvine (the leaves are bigger and shiny).

Gourd, who did you get what from? WillowWasp (Dee) or PudgyMudpies (Donna)

LOL You are just tooo funny this morning.........ohhhh Moon those are sooo pretty that Hatsu is beautiful.....

Dee

Mesilla Park, NM

I got the mgs (from pudgyMudpies Donna in CA), she used to use the name Dee on another site. I guess I still call her that.

I got the fuzzy bean vine from WillowWasp and I sent the Kniolas and Orange Noah.

The three Jap. from the Co-op and some from Larry Smith, and the rest I purchased from Parks and T&M.

those are real pretty Moonlighting, I love those photos they are great, still sittin here waiting for some of mine to grow...

edited to say: I forgot that I got three more from a lady in China, she did not put the names, just pictures of them, one looks like mixed picotee (none of the seeds came up), the other is with the spokes/wheels, and the last one is with a white edge. We won't know what they are until they bloom.
Another thing is that I ordered some mt. Fuji from Parks and two types have come up from the same package, some with the typical variegated leaves and some with regular normal mg leaves, so who knows what will come out those.

Gourd - you are gonna have some great bloomers. Love your pictures!

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

I must be in the wrong forum is this the Popular Photography Forum. They are great, when you open a new door so much can come from it. I can suggest, but your creative mind is the key. Shoot, shoot, shoot! Those are the three primary photograhy laws. The fourth is don't be afraid to experiment.Like gardening, some times you get a little dirty getting the job done!I took this shot with a black t-shirt behind it lying on my side camera turned in the wind. It took 10 minutes, but now it's forever.
