Moved us over from here

Spent last 2 days on couch, if not on couch then in bed, quite the time with shoulder. Saw chiropractor this morning, says he doesn’t want me doing anything with the arm, like that will happen ice it as much as I can stand to. Luckily we haven’t had snow but it’s on its way, school bus routes were cancelled due to freezing rain today. Not nice outside, sky is black, more rain throughout the night.
That costume Susan will be quite the undertaking but like the girls said, watch for pattern sales, I also will keep an eye out for sales, should take photo and record pattern #.
Has anyone heard I’d DH is trying to fix this mess??
Now let’s see if this works
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? Come join in (if you can find us!!)
Marie is just getting home so now the post op care begins for Jenny. NOT going to be fun trying to use ice & heat packs and keep her down.
Morning
What a rig of a roll to get on, wouldn’t let me post, a zillion ads , beyond acceptable
We have a skating rink outside but buses are running.
Can’t blame Jenny, hate cold packs, heat onesi love bit not cold, best I start trying. What procedure did Jenny get? Know I should go back and read but afraid it will take me all morning to get back here.
Yesterday Marie came over and we added a few more small trees outside, did something wrong so later at 3:30 when the lights normally come on i will go check why.
I bought an arm support the other day, was going to bring it back but this morning did some cutting and sewing and got it to gpfit better..
Big sigh, now to finish painting a metal windchime with one arm lol
Wha are you all up to today and your weather??
Sorry to hear you are hurting Betty.
It's cold here this morning. 33 degrees, feels like 22. Heaters are running full time.
I am getting the last of the quilts done for Christmas. 6 more to get done.
My puppies are so full of energy. They never stop. Lizzy has refused to let them nurse, as they have been eating dog food for 2 weeks now. They are 6 weeks old, they will be going to forever homes in 2 weeks. Several families are getting very active Christmas gifts. They love going outside to play.
They are so cute Linda!
I am NOT sure exactly what surgery Jenny had other than it involved her hind leg "knee".
cold here but nothing like what some of you get!
I honestly get an allergic response to "the cold" so no cold packs for me, EVER. It was diagnosed when I was just 20 and the MD thought it would resolve itself when stress was lessened, he was wrong! LOL. I was not allowed to swim that summer for fear I might get fatal reaction of internal hives. I still do get hives if exposed to cold very long, or directly like with a cold pack. I wear gloves to drive if the weather is the least bit chilly out.
I finally got a response from DG, about changing the site back like it was.
Hi Linda,
We are working to bring back a way for you to be notified when there is a new post on threads you are watching.
In the meantime, I\'d suggest keeping this link bookmarked
[https://davesgarden.com/community/forums/mywatcher.php]
It lacks any sort of indicator that a new post is made, however, you can get some info on the last post that was made on the threads you are watching.
Happy Gardening,
IBtyen
If this keeps up, i won't renew my membership.
I can create a group on Facebook for us, if nothing else.
This is frustrating but just wanted to put in some info to consider. I’ve been a member for a longtime. I paid for years and years, then as activity dropped off I reconsidered. The only thread I read would no longer be available to me, but I found this thread that seemed much the same, with old friends and new keeping up with their daily lives. This thread is accessible without a paid membership. You still keep your log in name and password, just don’t have to pay each year. There are many threads that can not be read, so you just have to see what meets your needs. If you go the list of individual forums the ones with a leaf beside them are the ones that only paid subscribers can access

Oh Betty - so sorry to hear that you're hurting. Hope the arm brace helps.
Pat - how's Jenny doing now? It's been awhile. Has the vet told you when she'll be better? I understand the cold allergy. I know of others who suffer with it - no putting a hand in the fridge because it'll turn blue.
Linda Kay - already on puppy food? Isn't that quick? You'll be glad to get your home back to normal, except that they;re so darn CUTE!
Well, got a Hallowe'en costume - found it at my thrift store. I'll have to adjust the skirt - it's about 8" (or more) too long, and I wish I had a hoop for underneath. It's handmade and only cost $5. I'll have to adjust the waistline too - way too big. The only side seam is at the zipper side. The black sheer top goes underneath the white top. If I can get it satisfactorily adjusted I'll take a selfie & post it.
Teacup - I guess I shouldn't be paying each year, because I only come to this thread. And any that we create (like the Round Robin quilting with this same group). I renewed in Sept 2024.
I didn't know we could use this site for free. I won't pay anymore after my membership runs out.
I have never seen that block. It's very pretty.
yeah, I'm not renewing a membership for 2 free sites lol When does your membership run out, Linda Kay?

Linda Kay, just wanted to make sure I made it clear that the entire site is not free to use, but this particular thread, forum is free. I’d hate for someone to cancel their membership and then find they were missing something important to them. But for me, it’s ok. I am more active on other sites.
Yes, the user "unfriendly" current status of this site is discouraging and if continued, I will let my membership lapse.
Jenny & Marie had their first good night. Prior they were both not sleeping well. Although we were providing all the pain meds prescribed, Jenny was whimpering a LOT. Marie gets wore down pretty fast. Jenny is only 25#s but lifting her over and over, carrying her outside every few hours was really more than Marie could do. I am grateful that my back is not bothering me so I can provide that care. I am pretty protective of it. I sit when I can.
Praying for both Marie & Jenny. Bless you, Pat, for all you do.
My membership expires next September I think.
This and the morning glory threads are all I follow.
Well the sky opened this week and it’s non stop snow, out shovelling constantly, by the time i shovel all that needs to be shovelled it’s t8me to start again,to make the matter worse I slipped on ice which was covered with snow, i am 8n so much pain, of course it had to be my left side shoulder and hip. Just took cbd/thc in hopes it relieves the pain.
Rather than my going in search of our quilting thread thought I would ask here, l8ndakay did you get the blocks?
Oh Betty! So sorry that you fell!
Earlier in this thread I posted the link to the Round Robin thread. Maybe it's lost?
Betty - here's the Round Robin link
https://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1568283/
Yes, i got the blocks.
They are beautiful. When Misty gets back home tomorrow, we will go through our stash for fabric and get them finished.
Sorry you fell, and hurting so bad. Praying you got some relief rom your meds.

Betty, so sorry you have fallen. It's such a high risk for all of us. SUCKS. I hope you get some pain relief.
Between heat therapy, wait for 30 minutes, massage for 10 to 15 minutes, 3x to 5x per day plus the taking her out... the day is pretty well shot.
Just got back from town, did my main grocery shopping, stopped in at chalet blue and ordered Chinese for Sunday gathering.
Shopping did me in, took extra time because I waited for staff to bring groceries and s t them in car, one heck of a job getting them inside and put away. No way could I carry pop in so got heavy blankets and snuggled the pop in hopes they won’t freeze, sad isn’t it lol
Had my bath, pain patch on, hot water filled with boiler water to help, on the very good side it was a sunshine day.
Was suppose to go to Sharon’s neighbour June, they put on quite the Christmas Feast, sorry i can’t go.
No hurry with the blocks Lindakay, just pleased they arrived.
Mega work tending to a furry in need of care after surgery.. hope they both get some sleep.
Betty - sorry that you didn't get to June's Christmas feast. It would have been lovely, I'm sure.
Good that you sent to Linda Kay before the postal strike. Now she can send to Pat (whenever they're ready, no rush).
Canada Post, if they don't get the strike resolved by the end of Dec, will have the current union contract extended until May 22, 2025 when they can go back to negotiations for a new contract. So, one way or another, mail will resume Jan 2nd (I'm sure they won't be delivering on New Year's Day, but you never know).
Postal stike is especially bad for those waiting on meds to arrive.
Betty I am glad you had help with putting groceries in your car.

Cda Post is back to work tomorrow, to deliver mail/parcels that are already in the system. They're accepting new mail/parcels as of Dec 19th. HURRAY! Not sure if it's entirely settled (maybe going to negotiations May 22? Something said about a 5% wage increase though). ABOUT TIME! It's been 5 weeks with stalemates.
Praying it finally gets going.
Betty, are you ok? Last post from you was the 14th.
No haven’t been Lindakay, trying to deal with excruciating pain, was told Monday by doctor Daryl hat I must not use my left arm for a few week, at least minimal movement, i giggled and he shook his head.
Weather has cooperated though, we have had rain for 2 days, just have to watch sump pump, snow predicted for a few days, as long as no storm for Sunday Christmas gathering. Big sigh, I’m so far behind, first sick then the body of mine.
Sewing Center ordered wrong bobbin case which means NO embroidered towel sets,
Trying to reach Brooklea Golf course to buy, gift certificates, no one answers grr
Greg dropped in yesterday and gave me all the benefit of either renting or buying a condo, didn’t take me long to say no at least for now.o
So couch then bed mostly but i between wrapping some gifts, need more boxed and must go to staples so I can enlarge faces for what will be grands gifts made into snow people. To make things easier i brought what i needed to decorate the fabric bags.
Keep looking at the clock, time to go for my perm, maybe I will look more human.
No giggling, Betty, do as the Dr says. Let your family know and they'll be THERE for you. You need to stop saying things like "they're too busy and I don't want to bother them" and let them help
You know that they want to

Sorry to hear all you're going through. Can they do any type of surgery to help?
Like Susan said, please listen to the doctor.
Yes they can but chances I will be worse off
Waiting for my meeting to be over, told me to schedule 2-3 hours
Praying you find some relief soon.
It has got to frustrating for you & your family Betty. You don't want to give up your gardens and they don't live close enough to provide all the gardening help you need to stay on top of landscaping. At least here, I CAN hire help.
I spent from 9AM to 4 PM trying to quilt one quilt, and it was NOT big. It was one of most frustrating experiences. We had a pro come for a refresher lesson on the longarm on Tues. I had fumbled thru a scrap piece the day before he came, I. was testing using JUST fleece with cotton top with no batting, and another space with cotton & microfiber sheet for backing. After he left, I did a small fleece backed quilt and another one with microfiber. Both went OK.
Sooooo I get up ready to get my SIL Sharon's quilt done and had NOTHING but trouble. The tension went haywire. The machine has "motor error" that I had difficulty clearing. By the time I was done, I had to fix the bobbin spring, I have NO idea how that got loose & "off". But the final problem I had to figure out was the beautiful, variegated cone of thread a friend loaned me was too old!!! I switched to the same brand and slightly different color that she loaned me at the same time and ALL the rest of the problems went away. It was only 2 & 1/2 hours of actual quilting. everything else was trouble shooting. I was so frustrated I was in tears. I would have walked away but I promised I would have quilt done in time for Christmas.
I loaded another quilt this morning. I am not going to give up on this without trying to make it work. Marie talked me into going shopping in Walla Walla (an hour away) for some quilting supplies she needed. We found that our favorite quilt shop is closing so everything was discounted. We spent too much money...
Pat - when it comes to discounted quilt fabric/supplies, is there such a thing a TOO Much money? I think NOT lol
Sorr you had longarm problems pat. Prayit goes smoothly tomorrow.
Stopping in for a sec, am hoping to get an hour rest before family arrives for our Christmas Day.
Last 2 mornings I’ve been up just after 2am, no way to lay to ease pain so I am do a nap.
I couldn’t make pies so made Ruby’s Applesauce cake (2), had everything ready, looked around and everything done, tables set in craft room to accommodate 16, a table in basement entrance for Chinese food… came up, out my feet up and started to feel sorry for myself being in this condition, checked what I had in cupboard, yep able to do a cherry and an apple pie, Greg came in and watched me and shook his head, i asked him to use can opener. On 4 cans as I don’t have strength, in the garbage that can opener went, said off to town to buy me one, told him I have one in cupboard just didn’t want the pull it I. He said he was going in the garbage bins to make sure it was there ready for dump pick up.
Drats Pat, I’ve been there, nothing works, stitching is off, have to pick most of what you’ve done out, say to heck with it, nectary, works like a charm, hope you got the quilt done.
Sunshine today, wonderful but -16c with a feel like -19c so at least nobody coming in a storm.
Hope all is ok with you all
Hope you have a nice day with your family, Betty.
I've got so much to do, and no ambition at all. Some presents are wrapped, I still have some shopping to do. I need to start cleaning, and I'd like to at least bake some cookies. Dinner tonight with my son's family to celebrate his partner's birthday. I've got my brother's family coming on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. They usually host Christmas Day, but, they're in the middle of renovations. My son will come Christmas Eve to see them, my daughter will be over Christmas Day.
I've got gallbladder surgery and hernia repair surgery on Thursday. Being so busy is keeping me from getting stressed over it, there's just no time to even think! It's outpatient, so I'll be back home later in the day. Supposed to get a call tomorrow to let me know what time. I hope it's early.
Betty, so sorry you are hurtso bad. Praying someone can figure out what is going on and give you some relief.
It's starting to get busy here too, so I will say Merry Christmas now, in case I get busy later.
Of course I went back to check on our newcomer, so much scam but didn’t see posts etc but by then poof there went my post into cycle space.
Deb,mega christmas duties ahead of you in next few days and with upcoming surgery not a wonder you are feeling behind but it will all coming together. It must be worrysome but you will feel so much better come the new year you will be a healthy you Are you christmas visitors the pitch in type? Hope so. How long will you be off work.
Waving to newcomer..
Well christmas in my house went well, it must have tired mom out because she is still in bed, I will give her another half hour and wake her and doggie Bella. With all company here yesterday Ziggy spent day in hiding so this morning he is cuddling up to me, just wants some alone time with me lol
Lindakay, you sound as though you are busy as well, soon you will be relaxing.
I had 19:for supper last night, Chinese food was deliver at 4 and from experience ordered got 16 and extra egg rolls, everyone ate big portions and I think there are 10 containers in my refrigerator, have to find someone to feed. The bill for chines was $301.00, Jeff wanted to pay for it but i said absolutely not. Before he left last night he said my christmas gift was sent to my account. Looked this morning, $500 to buy myself something and a note with 2nd entry, $300.00 for Chinese, Merry Christmas mom. Can’t win with him 😜
Mom just got up so time for me to do some clean up
Back lasted
Wow - TWO surgeries - hoping they go uneventfully. Nowadays they're pretty basic ones.
Betty - glad you have family around to take care of you.
Now, off to page 2 to see what I've missed by posting on page 1
