lol glad you're listening to your medical professional!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come sit a spell, enjoy chatting, newcomers always Welcome!!
I cracked up at your post Betty. I think you meant they picked up the KITS and you were not stuck with them.... not the kids!
Looks like the kids really enjoyed craft day.
Ok, iPad with all my info, data won’t charge, apple service says because of it being 3 years old they don’t repair but would give me $60 towards new one..nope rather throw it away. Jeff found a company in Toronto that will have a look but in meantime
I have my old iPad you have to keep plugged in to work but it’s working other than my not getting emails
I have 13% of memory left on my newer one gone on fritz, hit me awhile ago that Kyle set it up, yep he used his password so at least I am on DG
Thanks Melody, a, sure you sent me password but can’t get emails, will try to find someone to set email on this this one til mine is fixed or i get another unit, doubtful it will be apple though
Hope all ok
Watching updates on storm, all so very sad
Praying the loss of life is minimal
i
Our weather here has been changing over last 10 years, i vow I will try and make my footprint on earth less than I’ve been doing
Glad to see you are back eith us Betty.
So much devastation from those storms.
I sent the log in link via regular email because I didn't think you could access it here. I'll dmail you the link. It will work as long as you don't change your password. After that, you'll need a new link if you lose that password.
Thanks Melody..
Sunshine day here, cool but lovely
was up most of the nIght watching storm events, devastating for sure, not sure how they mentally survive.
Got al my fixing for pies, few things I needed to entertain myself and just got a Sunday Thanksgiving invite, tummy won’t be hungry.
Jeff will try to come up tomorrow night with a tablet and phone, guess he doesn’t like my flip phone which I might use a few times a year but I will accept them. He will take my apple iPad to Universal repair in the city and see if they can put a new port.
I am not over 1/2 done with quilting of the watercolour throw, just took Halloween design off the embroidery machine and will put one on for me
Am hoping then to get a wedding pillow topper done for young Peighton who is standing in her sisters wedding next weekend, she asked me if we could make them a quilt, nope, but i said I’d embroider a piece and she could make a pillow next Wednesday, don’t want to leave it to last minute so today is machine embroidery day.
Sharon said her dog did well yesterday, dog show near Nashville, here is hoping same for today
Debbie, any shows in your region?
Dianne, you ok?
Pat and L8ndakay, are you still sewing for helping the needy and kids.
Susan, can’t wait to get your block, will this week get Sharon’s and Mine in mail
What have you all been up to?
Hope if you’ve family in Florida they are ok.
Nice to hear that Sharon's dog did well in the shop :)
Busy day today - home from coffeetime (no one showed), and now off to bowling. Grabbing a bowl of tomato soup first.
Glad to hear Sharon's dog did well.
All these people that lost everything from the storms is so sad. Little to no help coming in from the government.
Yes, we are still quilting. Homeless quilts are done, now working on quilts for Misty's kids and parefor Christmas gifts.
Susan, sorry that no one showed up for coffee. Enjoy your bowling.
Hi everybody- I have been absent for so long I son't know how to begin !!! I've been a member for years, mostly gardening, but also sewing. I have had macular degeneration for many years, but struggle ti do what I love. I live in Richland WA, and want to connect with people who are still able to sew-- don't know where to start! In the past I met a few local ladies and shared some fabric- would like to do more-- Welcome any replies-- Jo
Hey Jo, we have met in the past. I remember you were taking care of your husband. My husband passed away close to 5 years ago now. I have sold my house & my sister and I in February 2024 moved into a new house together. I am mostly staying busy with remodeling projects and still sorting thru stuff to get rid of.
Betty, we have completed the used dolls were are donating this year. We sent most of them to St Vincent de Paul since they had room to store them until Christmas. We still have the new ones for Toys for Tots. They don't accept their donations until November. I'm sorry to hear you are having access issues with your technology. CUTE pillow.
The Lowes appliance garage came yesterday and was installed. It's missing molding pieces, the toe kick and one part is faulty. It likely will be weeks before THIS project will be complete.
Waving Jo, welcome back, sorry to hear you are having health issues, I’m same boat, push through it and then pay for it right? Glad you’ve decided to jump in, no need to feel overwhelmed with our chatter, we all have many interests so you will fit right in.what are you working on now?
LINDA Kay did you make your goal Re the quilts for homeless? They will be so appreciative. As for Florida, I would hope our government in such a shattering event would be as quick to react as yours, guess it sounds like it’s taking their time to help but am sure people who lost everything don’t even know where to begin or what to ask for..no easy task. Warms the heart to see all those servicemen, volunteers all out there, sure wish other than send $$$ or such I could help more.. as newsmen covering the storm and giving their location in many cases I could almost see right where they were.. prayers for them all.
Pat, hard to believe it’s been 5 years since your loss, know it seems forever at times and some times like yesterday. Will be 34yr s New Year’s Day and sometimes I swear in was a few years.
Darts on the delivery not up to par, frustrating
Susan, usually you do have drop ins right? What are you doing for Thanksgiving. Having a few friends over like you do some years?
Saw Sharon sent me a message Re competitions today, hope well, long way to travel and be disappointed right Debbie?
Going to have a grilled cheese then early night, tomorrow is pie baking day. Mel just called me to say that she picked up whipped cream at Costco tonight so I will keep what I bout for me.
I’ve been so busy today, haven’t stopped, haven’t looked to see what the weather will be like for the weekend..hope it’s nice, after 2 thanksgiving meals on weekend maybe 3 I would like to put fall away and take out Halloween while emptying the pond..now let’s see what I do accomplish
Got the 2 Halloween panels and the wedding panel embroidered, only have 1/4 of the watercolour throw done, Ari came for her lesson and still feel I’m behind

Yes, I have drop ins for coffee. It all depends on people's schedules. Today two were doing medical stuff, but they were there yesterday. I say that as long as one person is coming, it's worth it to open. The garbage truck driver comes in every Thurs to fill his thermos. We chat for a bit, then he hops back in his truck & goes back to work.
Bowling today was fun. Next week I'll be chairing the senior's meeting, so will pre-bowl this Friday.
Dianne's invited me for her Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, and 10 people from the church are going after church to a restaurant for lunch. Funds are extremely tight for me, and someone will pay for my lunch. How thoughtful & lovely of them.
The RCMP constable told me that the No-Contact & Distancing court order ended on the date of my divorce (Sept 23, 2024), so unless I ask for it to be changed to NOT be part of the divorce & get it enforceable by the police, it's alright for him to live so close to me. btw - the female constable I spoke to on Tues told me that she knows he's an a**h**e and that he has several court appearances to make. I may just drop the Court Order (although I could get it amended to continue until May 31, 2025). For now, I just want to relax in my new freedom & work on my crafting "thingies" :)
Currently working on the quilt for Michelle & Lonnie, and a diamond painting they gave me last Christmas.
Hey Jo. Nice to see you posting again. I too lost my husband, last year in April. I moved to Amarillo, Texas with my son and daughter in law. Taught her how to quilt and she is hooked.
Yes Betty. We turned in 24 throw size quilts for the church.
Morning, sunshine day
I’ve been up since 6, pie day so by the time I get them made, clean up the mess and dust and vacuum I will be done in, tomorrow morning I will only have the turnips to do.
Always nice Lindakay to get a commitment if that size done, bet the were so very happy to receive them.
Susan, how caring that someone will treat you to Thanksgiving Neal, we can all use kindness especially at Thanksgiving.
Surprise, surprise my iPad started to charge this morning, a fluke or when a blowed the port I might have dislodged something so charging it but will still send it in the Vaughan center if he comes up.. just in case he does I have chicken brewing to make chicken and sliders for his supper, got to say if I’m go8ng to make a mess I’ll make a big one lol
Sharon kinuk won best of breed yesterday so she is pleased
So are you all undertaking today? Next month it will be your Thanksgiving then the next which seems around the corner so we best get sewing if we are making Christmas gifts
Good morning.
Congratulations to Sharon.
Don't over do it Betty.
All but one pie done to be (16). Bought a banana pudding vs banana pie filling, if Jeff comes up early enough I will send him on a mission. Letting 4 lemon pies cool so I can do the meringue, hmm wonder if egg whites would be ok til morning?
Maybe a few hours rest and I can finish these pies
Still up, Jeff got here, set me up with new phone and tablet, what a learning curve.
He bought a new phone yesTerra and was showing me features. He had me say something into it, I said I made pies today and this artificial intelligence asked me what kind, told him, asked why so many and what was the occasion, told him, told me how endearing it was, etc etc. Mind boggling.
Then as I take a lot of pictures he told me to take them on my phone, then asked me what I didn't like on photo, as the picture was of my kitchen I said the kettle, he taught me how to erase what I don't want in the photo and voila kettle no longer and background as it should be. Likely you all have these abilities but seeing I had a flop phone I used maybe 3 or 4 times a year I didn't realize their capabilities.
He put Netflix, utube and prime, downloaded movies so if I am away from WiFi I can still entertain myself using tablet
Like a kid with new toy
Those pies look delicious.
And the photos of the northern lights are stunning. We don't see that down here in Texas.
Yes, those new phones have all kinds of stuff on them. I still haven't figured it all out.
Congratulations to Sharon!! Winning a National specialty is really great! My Luca is in Springfield IL this weekend. He won Best of Breed and a Group 3rd placement. Our National specialty is next week in Ohio. I'll be heading there on Monday.

Deb, he is beautiful. Congratulations.
Betty, I say I have a "Smart phone & a dumb operator". My phone is capable of much more than I am.
Deb & Sharon, congrats to you both on your dog's wins. Good job!
I put ads on Marketplace trying to sell off more of this stuff. Marie is going thru her closets & eliminating what is too big. I will keep a few things for myself, the rest has got to go.
Lots to do and I won't get it done sitting on the computer. Later friends!
Congratulations to you, Deb & Sharon! Beautiful pic of your lovely dog!
Betty - I should only be so smart as my phone. I know that there are things I should be able to do with it. Save movies to my phone to use without wi-fi? I didn't know that I could.
I was clearing out my closet of non-essentials and things that are too big, and my timing couldn't have been better. A neighbour's daughter is doing a group project to do something for the community. She's gathering winter clothing and other stuff for the homeless, so I filled 3 black bags with boots, coats, scarves, hats & gloves, pus other clothing. She'll pick it up on Wed morning.
Yesterday I went to the thrift shop with a $60 store credit & bought a smaller coffee table and SO many other things (including a stepper so I can exercise on it). DeAnn came with me & helped me spend the $60 by buying some wool. I couldn't have spent that much, as there was a 25 to 50% off sale that day lol
Just home from Dianne's Thanksgiving dinner.......... my tummy's been stretched lol
Tomorrow, lunch after church. Oh well "I'm on a seafood diet - I see food, I eat food" lol
Congratulations to Sharon!! Winning a National specialty is really great! My Luca is in Springfield IL this weekend. He won Best of Breed and a Group 3rd placement. Our National specialty is next week in Ohio. I'll be heading there on Monday.

Wow, congratulations to Sharon! Winning a National specialty is truly an incredible achievement! It’s also amazing to hear about Luca’s success in Springfield with Best of Breed and a Group 3rd placement. Best of luck at your National specialty next week in Ohio – it sounds like an exciting time ahead! tubidy
What did I learn today? Well, I learned how to reliably thread my new-to-me, but older style, Singer Stylist 514 sewing machine! It was in production between 1973 & 1975 LOL :)
Guess that makes it as old as my mobile home - 50 years. My grand old lady of a home suits me to a "T", and so does my basic sewing machine. Eventually I'll need to download the whole pdf file, but in the meantime, I do like my sewing machine.

Monday was yet another busy day, all the fall totes packed and put away for yet another year, brought on some Halloween but a lot more to bring in yet.
Decided to rest, was just coming in when phone rang, I quickly answered only to see it was mom...
She asked if she would be allowed to come for a visit before christmas, big sigh
!
Another busy day, having some friends Sunday for the day, they always came years preceding covid so will be nice seeing them
Few things I need to pi
Oh Betty.... do you think MAYBE your Mom is getting the hint?? (I kinda doubt it will change much).
I had emergency dental work yesterday and was still in so much pain I was in tears last night. Soooo much better this morning! I had my FIRST root canal at the age of 12. I honestly do not know how many I have had now, and crowns. This one was root canal AFTER a crown, I don't remember when THAT crown was put in. Oh well, thankfully I have decent dental insurance but it was still expensive, $415. Normally my work cost me $50 at the most, generally zero but this required a trip to specialist after my regular dentist saw me Monday morning.
wow, Betty - quite the busy schedule, all those days of work, work, work, but you enjoyed the Thanksgiving dinner, I'll bet :)
ouch, Pat, on the emerg dental work! I take it that this was a root canal? Glad that you have decent dental insurance, but even so..........
Today I got my new furnace & they'll return to put the appropriate ducting in my den. Waiting to get a plumber. The one who was scheduled for today cancelled this morning. On the hunt for another plumber
@Melody - another spammer.......... darnit!
Goodness Betty, you had a very busy weekend. Hope you didn't hate wait long at the doctors office.
Pat, glad you are finally out of pain. I don't like dentist.
Susan, glad to hear you got your new furnace in.
We had a cold front come through last night. Only 39 degrees this morning.
Morning, sun is shinning, tad colder we could get snow, eed a coat on brr. Time to bring in the plants I want to winter sto our newbies. Welcome, I've done welcoming at least 3 times but lost my posts, these alternate phone and tablet are so touchy
Unusual for you to have such cold weather especially this early
Pat, pain still here this morning?
Dianne, do you have all your wood close by, am sure you have a roaring fire today
have to rush out, perm time and want
Her to cut short short
Just copied incase I lose this post
