It's horrible how everything is so expensive.
Can't wait to see your floral arrangement.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Drop in, walk our gardens, come sit awhile…
Your mom is obviously out of touch with prices of things now.
Beautiful arrangement!
I made 2 of the Atlantic Beach pies, and 2 of the Almond Cherry Cheesecake Streusal bars. Waiting for them to cool so I can cut them up & put them in snack bags for the sale. I got an extension cord & the electric cooler for the pies. With whipping cream topping, they need to keep cool. There's also the log cabin lapquilt to raffle off.
Beautiful flowers Betty.
Susan, good luck with your sales and raffle.
You go Susan! Best of luck getting lots of money for all your efforts.
My contractor to finish the floors says he will start the work the week of June 25. I have a week to get the living room & hall painted. It's doable.
I am having an enjoyable visit with son Dana & his wife Carrie.
I hope he gave you a reasonable rate for your floors.
Praying it gets done on time.
Great news Pat
I’m sure Dana and Carie are pleased with progress and seeing you smile.
Thanks Lindakay, am sure they will look lovely on tombstone, perhaps Roger will roll over, he did not like flowers lol
I don’t know if I’ve ever had to stop shopping because of the severe pain going in the back of my neck right down to my spine. My left hip..just wanted to cry. Stopped a few times in order to be able to reposition myself.Every bone in my body hurting I had to leave 3/4 of what was on my list not done and when I did buy if it was heavy, I didn’t buy. I’ve now had a bath, took some drops of thc/cbd, Tylenol 3 , sprayed my body and now in bed. Had to slip my bra off, the lightest of my blouses.next time I get up i will rub my knees..
Sorry to hear you are in do much pain. Praying the doctors can do something for you soon.
Betty - hope you're feeling better & that something more permanent can be done for you.
Our plant/craft/bake tables took in $385.50, which will be split between our 2 charities. Scot, from Canadian Pickers came by. Someone recognized him (they thought), so I went up & asked him - yup, it was him all right.
The plants didn't sell all that well, but they will do another one in the fall, and a 3rd one for Chrstmas. I suspect the plants didn't do well because most were outdoor plants & people's yards & gardens have been planted.
My pies & the Almond Cherry Cheesecake Streusal bars went very well, as did the homemade bread (bread brought by someone else).
There was a Watkins vendor at the sale, and her house burned down a week ago. She has an RV & all her Watkins products were in her car. She put in for the lapquilt raffle because she "wanted something new". I suppose this means that she's gotten friends giving her some of their unneeded stuff and while she appreciates it, none of it is new. I have her business card. She comes from a town about 1 1/2 hours from here.
My friend Dianne won the quilt raffle.

Betty, so sorry to hear your pain has increased so much. I hope this will be temporary and way to lessen the pain will be forthcoming.
Susan, you did great with your fund raising!
I hope all is well with you Karen & Walt. I know you had recent family gathering, is there something special planned for Father's day as well?
Sharon, you closing in on finishing all the landscaping plant work?
Dianne, how is the new collar working on Zeke? Is he learning to not pull? Walking better for you?
Linda I hope the wait for the knee replacement is bearable for you.
I can't wait for the pink lillies in #4 to really get with the program. they are just teasing me with those open ones that are so low. Look at all those buds!
Congratulations on the fundraiser Susan.
Pat, those flowers are beautiful.
Morning everyone, happy Father’s Day to the dads out there, no, it will be a hard day for you, Linda Kay, hugs!
Susan you did well at your sale, kudos to you all. As for plants i don’t do church or similar because the are from participants gardens and always same flowers. Was nice for you meeting Scott.
Can feel my eyes get heavy, maybe nap time
Pat, you must have a love of Lillie’s, they are beautiful..can see that you are pretty well caught up on the outside. Bet the neighbours are thrilled as you are! Have Dana and his wife left yet?
The sun is already up and it’s promising to be a wonderful day know my boys are golfing and so are the grandsons so I’m sure it will to them be the perfect Father’s Day!
Greg and Noah dropped in last night to see how I was doing and if I needed anything, told me to make up a list this morning and he goes shopping for it but there’s nothing really that I can’t do without for a few days. Said that my garden looked really well looked after, and that was the telltale of my pain. I was able to tell him. Nope, it’s pressure from the neck down to the spine and my hip and feet that’s not from overdoing, likely the pinched nerve. I go on 5 of July for my injection so I will speak to the doc and see what she things, likely tell me to see my own doctor..
I set 2 of the birdhouses that weren’t painted in class, maybe at some point sitting I can paint them..so wanted to go get 100%cotton to knit chemo hat but didn’t get to shop at wool studio.
Hope all who aren’t posting isn’t because the are unwell..think I’d you often.
Yes Pat, oldest son is having all over for cook-out. So proud of the dads my sons have become to their naturals, adoptees and add-ons. Of course they had a darned
good role model.
Lovely warm sun shine day today.
Congratulations on your fund raisers, Susan. It sounds like it was a lot of work, but, well worth it!
Betty, I do pray your pain can be resolved. That just sounds horrible, and I know how frustrating it can be when you want to do something, and just can't because of the pain.
Enjoy the cook-out, Karen! That' sounds wonderful to have everyone together.
Getting ready for puppies here. I have a c-section scheduled for her for next Saturday. My vet felt it was for the best because of her age, and family history (both her mother and sister required emergency c-sections).
Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there.
Great photo, Karen!! Happy memories!!
found out what the tree was - a mountain ash (Rowan). It's a beautiful fern-like leaf. Someone had an app on their phone & took the picture and lo & behold, that's what came up. Dianne bought it, because she wanted one in her yard.
Karen, THAT is a stellar picture! I LOVE it!
Betty, Dana & Carrie leave on Monday. Then I will start painting in earnest and scheduling the few remaining things to be taken out of that side at the last minute. Dana & Carrie ordered take out Chinese & are delivering food to Dana's dad & wife while I am gone to church. Ex's wife doesn't cook.
Dana & I had dinner here with a friend and played board games. I finally started recovering all the chairs. 2 go home with them. I LOVE my new cordless staple gun, works great. It was a bit of a splurge since I had an electric staple gun but this one works REALLY well!!
The King mattress is leaning against a wall, I will need to move the dining room table & the love seat I just moved in. I just couldn't get thru the weekend without better seating for family.
Pat - just don't overdo the moving of furniture. Would hate to see you hurt yourself. Totally understand wanting proper seating for the family!
Praying all goes well with the puppies Deb. Can't wait to see photos.
Aren't there a number of dog breeds that are delivered almost exclusively thru C-section?
Susan, thanks for the concern. I KNOW I won't be moving the furniture myself. I will call on some friend/church men to move the furniture. When it is just 1 piece and I can take my time, use moving aids to PUSH the furniture etc, I do it. That recliner love seat is WAY beyound anything I can move. A week later, ALL of that and more, need to be moved again!
Now to get the painting completed.
My company is gone & I am going to spend most of today trying to get caught up & move "some stuff", prepare to paint. I feel "behind" and a bit overwhelmed. This was not a good time for company, but it was planned almost 2 months ago. Who knew I would be neck deep in this stuff?
The Bday gifts I made for Carrie. 5 secure on kitchen towels (Velcro rather than button) and 2 bowl cozies. Carrie goes to Michigan in July to meet up with her online scrapbooking buddies for the first time! A whole week of crafting fun. I wanted "something" to wrap since I was giving her cash for her trip.
Those are beautiful.
I am here. Wind is blowing and all is well. Getting ready to going inside and curl my hair. Housekeeper is here.I stayed out of her way while she claened my bedroom and bath.
Pat, I have the majority of my gardening completed. Have found two very small tomato worms th last two days. I know there are many more but right now the tomatoes are setting on good. Your lilies are beautiful. Everything looks really good. Did you son that was visiting go to speak with your other son about the mess he left?
New puppies will be exciting. Praying all goes well.
Betty, I am so sorry about your pain. Nerve pain is so painful. My brother, a year younger than me, is having surgery on his back because he has a disc that is pinching the nerve and causing him big time pain. Looks like your weather is warming up.
Susan, good job on the fund raising.
Karen, that is an adorable photo.
Puppies ANYWHERE but HERE, are exciting!
No, Dana & I agreed that he would stay out of it. He did get to go out to dinner with JUST Adam. They had a good visit. Adam got 3 loads on last Friday. I honestly don't know how many more there are.... but LOTS. Adam expressed how much he is enjoying working for a decent wage. When he has his year of over the road experience he may TRY to find something more local so he is home at night.
I am taking a break/breather before starting the move of the twin bed. I have it stripped and ready, the location cleared. Now to put it on plastic and push it across the house & into the ONLY bedroom that can be used during the wood refinishing.
Life would have been much simpler if I had made the decision to refinish these floors earlier in the game! I am ready to call the men & let them know I am ready for their help anytime they can come.
Evening, day went quickly, not sure where but it went.
Already getting ready for bath and bed..
sounded like ”bath and beyond” lol
Are your stores closing? closed here in Canada, we’re taking signs off the store the other day when I was in Barrie.
Those gifts are so cute Karen, am sure she appreciated them.
I keep saying I will make the bowl holders but haven’t..kids made them last year but I didn’t get around to it.
Deb, does it ever happen that their delivery time come sooner than c-section?
Karen, that is a lot of celebrating..what makes you younger I think being with all family.
It was a hot one, next week most days will be a feel like in the 90’s, high for us.
Must have taken all of Greg’s strength not to say anything about the a/c on, all doors and windows open but he didn’t. Quietly went and shut them and said let the a/c cool you down.
Young Vanessa 7 made a pillow from her grandfathers shirts, she did the top last week but we didn’t do poem so tonight added the poem. Her mom wanted 2 more but she would be too distracted to try and make 2 more..more than likely I will.
June and Pat come in the morning then Giorgia at 4:00 plus yard duty so there goes another day.
I wondered what you meant when you said tombstone saddle. I wonder if a clamp like piece could be jerry-rigged to work. It looks really nice.
My neigbhor & 2 BILs came & they moved the hutch, loveseat & King mattress for me. I was able to get the rest of the stuff moved by myself. I rehomed my spare microwave & hot plate. In a year or 2, I might need them again, but I will cross that bridge when I get there.
Betty, those look beautiful.
Pat, glad to hear you got help moving things.
Lovely flowers for Roger, Betty.
Glad you have help, Pat.
I've lost my helper. He & his sister have moved out of their parents and there is some animosity there, He won't be doing any work for his mom's friend, and I won't ask it of him.
Pat - don't scold me, but I'll be moving my 8ft long & 6 ft high desk (same wall) down further north on the wall. On the other side of the heat vent. Apparently "he" should have put heat vents under the 2 outside walls, but he didn't so the cold comes in and it gets to 23F at the outside corner, which is near where I currently sit. Emptying the entire desk (which is a LOT of stuff) and will just push it 8ft down the wall. It won't be difficult. Think about moving a couch the same distance. This just requires a push & I'll do it in stages. It's going to be a 2 day job - half day to empty it, then move the desk (half hour), then to sort stuff to go back into the desk & credenzas. Obviously the sorting will take the longest - most of it is pictures, pictures, pictures lol Found a Guest Book with pictures from my mom's 90th birthday, plus the memorial book from her celebration of life. So many memories.
Don't over do it Susan. Enjoy going down memory lane.
Morning, watered the gardens, feet up on couch for 1/2 hr til Pat and June get here.
Thought I’d check in before the da escapes me.
Pat, great idea to Re home some of our unused pieces, chances are we won’t need them and if we do buy them again.
Guess Susan cabinet is too heavy for you to get a towel/towels under the corners so it glides when you push it.
Once June and Pat leave at noon I have a couple of trees that have overgrowth around their base so will cut them off, looks so much better, have a little transplanting to do before Giorgia comes at 4. Somewhere in between I need to find time for an hours nap.
Makes for a busy day.
What are you all doing today?
Guess there's no way I'm going to move this desk. I'll need 2 strong men to do it. Will only take about 20 minutes, but......... I removed the 2 drawer "inserts" and it's still very very very heavy. I'll ask a neighbour who does construction if he & a mate will do it.
Good plan Susan, I don't blame you for trying alone. Just 8 feet... and depending on the flooring, sometimes doable. I would have tried to move this stuff alone if they didn't ALL need to be LIFTED, that hutch needed to be put up on a desk, the loveseat, picked up, rotated and taken outdoors. I could have got the King mattress on my own, but it would have meant dragging/pushing it on the floor. If I already had help, made sense to get it done right. It had to go down one step and be swung around a recliner.
Painting starts today.
going down the one step & rotating it would be difficult for one person.
I just had my foot care lady come by & she looked at my calf where the lawnmower tipped over & caused a cut. She says I have an edema there, so will go see my pharmacist this afternoon, after I talk to the lawyer on the phone. The lawyer's call is a 1/2 hour consult. I have to make a list of questions I need to ask her as I won't have much time in the free call. One question is about the future of me living in my home & what I need to do to get Bob to give it to me, exclusively. If I have to use my Personal Line of Credit, I will, but I don't need to tell him I have access to funds. I got it (kudos to my bank for looking after me) after he was moved out, by the RCMP, Nov 9, 2021.
Not doing much today. It was 101 degrees this afternoon.
Glad to hear pat and Susan ask for help. I am quickly finding, I can't do half of what I used to do.
Doesn't that just SUCK Linda?? I hate it. I don't have the strength or the endurance. If I do manage to work a full day, the next day or 2 I am worthless!
Marie & I did nothing but prep, and still aren't done with prep for the painting!!
No answer yet, from the fella I asked for help. Give me a week and I'll move it, inch by frickin' inch..........
Morning, just came in from watering my gardens, Marie’s and cafe next door.carried limbs to fire pit that Ted cut yesterday while he was sitting with Marie and I on front deck he just had to go home and get his limb cutter..fire ban still on and likely will be over next few weeks.
It is not in any of our nature to ask for help and that is the worse part of getting older. Breaks our heart that there are things we can’t do and we try even harder and do damage to ourselves.
While watering the garden facing back staircase there are several 4’ plans, can’t even see the rhubarb cement walkway so when i get up will try and transplant them, in this heat that is not the best but must try.
Today will also be a grass cutting day.
Mom called me last night to tell me her brother called to say aunt Muriel fell and hurt her leg, they were taking a flight to Toronto late tonight, spending night at moms, tomorrow. Driving up north dropping mom here for the week, aunt Muriel at her SIL ‘s then using moms car to go north to see their son.
I told mom if aunt Muriel could at least fly but they felt it a hardship for her to stay with aunt Barb she could come here.guess by noon mom will know what is what.
