Yes, he is married, and I absolutely love my daughter in law. Her boys are 20 and 26. No great grands yet.
Keeping you in our prayers for your surgery tomorrow.
Best/Worse/What did I Learn today? Come sit a spell, a place where friends meet & share! All newcomers welcome..
Pat, if you and Marie are doing all the work, you should be able to bill the estate for your time! If you two weren't willing, they would have to hire someone to do the work. It's only fair.
Welcome back KyWoods!
At the hospital, here is hoping no fever and get it done
Prayers for you Betty.
Waiting for Mel to pick me up
All done? Hope you don't have much pain. Will she stay with you tonight?
Home lading down, heating blanket on me..feeling ok though
When they were wheeling me to operating room nurse stored to get warm blankets, looks like refrigerator, she asked me if i thought i was getting ha beer for me, i said no, was just concerned about the 4 stretchers along the wall, seemed like bodies covered up so I said ‘maybe I will need that beer after all, don’t think your morning is going well so far” she burst out laughing. Got to have a sense of humour right?
What are you all up to
That was pretty wicked.
Glad you had someone to bring you home.
Please get some rest and let things heal.
Funny about the beer.
Actually i haven’t been able to sleep, not really pain just discomfort so i read i should any with a soft pillow, head not raised so I’ve done that as well as putting a pillow on each side of me to keep pillows from letting bedding rest on it.
No, Mel’s mom and dad have been quite sick, she has been running around Re groceries, meds, test, i am not sick so no need for her to stay.
Greg had tickets for the Maple Leaf game in the city,.. was being picked up in Barrie by friends, said he would stop on his way home around midnight and spend the night, no need.. i will text him a bit and tell him not to bother otherwise he might wake me.
They said likely if be sleepy today but no go so i might take 1/2 sleeping pill.
Hope you get some rest.
Kay, I remember you. Welcome. This is the only thread I am on currently. I just renewed for another year.
I worked today spending money. $163 at Lowes and $347 at Costco. Helped the economy big time. Also signed a contract to re-plaster my pool for $10,400. Starting May 16. I hate this one because no one uses the pool but has to be done because pebble teck is deteriorating and will plug up the plumbing. I am having a rail put in so I will be able to get in and out of the pool easier. I will have to facetime someone to keep an eye on me while I am in the pool.
Linda, I am so pleased you are surrounded by family. Vern will be gone 4 years the end of this month and I am missing him more this month. He just keeps popping into my mind. Texas is getting ready for an increase of immigrants. This is like a bad dream. Or a bad movie, but if it was a movie I would get up half way through and leave.
Pat, that is a tough one. Who is the executor? The executor has the right to charge a fee for managing the estate. Usually a percentage. I would hire someone and let the estate pay that person instead of killing yourself doing all of the work. When you get done with your sister's planting, I need you to come down and finish mine. Such a deal.
Betty, I am pleased you did fine with your surgery. She sent me a message on Messenger.
Susan, Hope you had a good dinner with your friend.
Time for Emma and I to go to bed. I got up at 8am this morning and that is early for me. I am usually awake, but not dressed and meeting someone at the door that early in the day.
Hugs to all of you.
I hope you are getting some sleep Betty.
I am hoping Marie gets to feeling better soon, taking care of her household needs and mine is getting tough. Today I did her grocery shopping, bought the rest of the flowers she needed, planted the 10 back patio pots, delivered water and Ensure to Phil along with clean clothes & picked up his dirty clothes. It wouldn't be so bad if we didn't live about 25 mintues apart. When you have a round trip of almost an hour to add to the errands, it eats up time!!
Tonight I bought a used washing machine for A&A, I can't pick up the dryer until they get the washer off my pickup. If they move out any slower, they are in danger of composting right where they stand.
Earlier this week I met a lady at the flower department of Fred Meyer & I offered to share some of my variegated iris with her. We set a time for this morning. I dug up iris, some Asian lillies and a violet for her & she brought me meat for the freezer! 5 packages of hamburger, some ribs, a roast and steak, this is all homegrown & custom cut. YUMMMM!
Granddaughter wants her prom dress altered, if she waits any later, it won't be ready for Saturday. She wants the back "filled" with lace. The back is basically open with lattice laceup and it doesn't start until about 4 inches BELOW her waist in back, any lower and she is going to be showing "dimples". YIKES. Current styles are outrageous, I am glad that is NOT my decision. No way would I approve of that dress. Thankfully I have some white stretch lace in yardage that I had bought to make a shrug for myself.
Headed for shower and bed.
Sharon, it's amazing how much money it takes for repairs and upkeep.
Pat, don't forget to take care of yourself too.
Betty, I hope you hot som sleep and not in too much pain.
Didn't have dinner with her - we each went home, then went to the meeting together.
Court was yesterday
Afternoon everyone,
Oh Susan, must have been a difficult day, what was the outcome or will there be another court day? Sorry you didn’t get out for eats. How did the meeting go? hope you have a better day today.
Holy wah Pat, that was quite the bartering ..wish I lived closer, would so like asiatic lily, had a beautiful garden of them, must have bought at a town plant sale one that had the battle bug, lost them all and was told that the go doorman for decades and if I replanted same would happen.don’t know where but maybe out front in one of the gardens.. can they grow in shade? Look at Stanley, he will be so excited to have the house to himself, looks like he is getting into mischief.
Mega $$ Sharon but so worth it..i often think what takes up more $$, sewing or gardening..pretty close to same, hard on pocket book when you have both hobbies plus a few more. I loved your pool area, pity you don’t use it more, hope once redone you will. Would your step son use it.
Lindakay, very tender but normal, getting sneezing bouts and coughing last night is what made it more tender. My problem with nothing to do is bad for me, looking at garden ideas and art, not a good thing when you lifting. Have trouble growing grass under that 15’ trio umbrella so am temperas. Can’t lay sod so maybe I could lay artificial grass under it? June has a sitting area she bought artificial grass for because her soil was bad to grow grass and you can hardly tell, better than no grass.
Dianne, how is your weather? Did you get a hold of your wood provider?
Debbie, Sharon is inSt Louis or nearby and her male dog blew his coat and didn’t do anything, really regrets having him in Westminster Dog Show
I think is Monday ,girls show today. Any news on the breeding?
KyWoods, what are you up to today..is your first name Ky, Kay? Sorry this old gal has a poor memory.
How are you and Walt doing. Is there a baby shower or a gathering? Bet you can’t wait to give the quilts.
Lordy, when they injected non nausea meds in the drip they must have added a a triple dose of energy in it as well..didn’t sleep yesterday except maybe when I first got home, then nothing..was 1:30 this morning and thought, they said not to take sleeping pill last night but 1:30am is next day so took it and slept 4-5 hours. This morning i just want to go go go but know I can’t and am not.
Marie came and checked on me about 9, heard a different sound on my computer and it was Kyle, he runs a few draws, he doesn’t make $$ just something to do. It’s setup on a web site that had today like wheel of fortune with 15 names, $15 each for a $150 card for either Canadian tire or Home Depot. You know when you watch wheel of fortune and the arm goes and after 1/2 way machine goes slower, there was my name, almost before it went into next name well it didn’t so I won prize and picked cord from Canadian tire. Won’t go far because I need a good shovel and a few gardening things so it will help. Not sure what next draws are but I will join.
Did little things like empty dishwasher, rested, did load of wash, clothed were already in washer, just turned it on, now dryer, it was a light 1/2 load so that is ok..
Got a chair and sat at the laundry room counter and what flower pots I had not used I divided some of my seedling..have a notepad to fill in this afternoon so I don’t make same mistakes as this year.
I got my unit for my birthday so was anxious to start..
. Plant nothing that vines til mid April
. Buy a container you fill that has a light spray hose so I’m not making 10 trips, water
on the floor, mix water and soil and mud all over
Have the thermometer between basement door to into house..has about 6 steps, want to see how cold it is at night to see if I can set them out so they get used to cooler temps. Will also at night open laundry room window
Anyone else have any suggestions?
I haven’t eaten yet, just had a coffee so will see what kind of soup I have or maybe good old Kraft Dinner.
I know, i know, sounds like I’ve done more than I should but haven’t and am using my chair lift so not using muscles.

Betty, sounds like I expect YOU to do the kitty Zoomies!!! Won't it be nice if we all could get a big dose of energy?? AND then sleep at night! In a perfect world, right? LOL
Sharon, first I would have to FINISH MY PLANTING!!! Really though, I bought very little for me. Probably less than an hour's worth of work. They are going into the few pots I have.
Bought the hardware/new hoses for the washing machine. Delivered 4 bags of 2 cu of new potting soil to Marie along with all her plants. I bought 2 used matching lamps for the guest room and attended my weight loss meeting. At 2 PM the garden helper will come to do maintenance on the mower and mow, if it's not too wet. We had a storm last night, high winds and rain.
Gotta go.... need to buy new gasoline & oil for the mower and be ready in 2 hours for my helper.
No, Betty, that was it. Crown Prosecutor asked me what I wanted. I told him Anger management and to not contact me. I wanted him to be tested for dementia but he said he couldn't be forced to get treatment. He cannot contact me for a year. He will be allowed to pick up his essential possessions once then pick up the balance another time. Both times will have to be attended by the RCMP. I was able to get the letter to him that was created last July and he ignored it. Now the lawyer and Prosecutor have a record of him receiving it. Don't know if he will agree with it. Will wait and see.
Susan, that is ONE more meeting crossed off your list. Do you feel better with that behind you?
Marie called her MD, he sent her to ER. They ran tests & started an IV for the dehydration and told her she has a UTI. No answers on why the black stools. They did not do a stool culture which I thought was odd.
Garden helper got mower up and maintenanced, cut the yard. That was quite a chore as it went from not green and barely growing 2 weeks ago to GREEN and LONG. He had to reverse the mower multiple times.
I am going to plant those few flowers and then sit on my bum and read. Count my blessings that I am at least feeling well.
Morning, sunny day
Susan, that doesn’t seem like any kind of justice to me, courts are funny.
Pat, hope you did rest, if any person needs rest it’s you!
UTI’s are painful, hope Marie feels better.with all the rain I to couldcut mine but will wait until next week.
yep guess they are right when they say 3rd day after surgery is worse, hard moving today. Watered all the seedlings, got dressed..later i will run into town, need a few things, have to pick up those carpet rose bushes, didn’t ask price but bet they are $34 at least.
am hoping the Amazon order that Darlene bought me is in..she bought me 100 of 4” pots for my seedlings. I have a stained glass hanging for her..she can pick from the 2 i have as one of the windows in her home she just bought i am sure one says hang me.
Ziggy wants in
Good morning.
It's horrible how much plants are.
Sorry to hear you are still hurting. Please take it easy and let things heal.
Supposed to be 89 today.
Lovely sunny day here. Haven't walked the boys yet but soon will.
In a bit of a funk. It was 11 years ago today Warren transitioned. Feels like it was last week. Nodded of around 8 pm last night and woke up around 11 pm. I couldn't fall back asleep but I think the anniversary of Warren's death is weighing on my mind.
Betty you follow all those instructions and be good to yourself.
I'm itching to get some colour into the garden but will wait a few weeks. My Welsh grandfather always said do not plant outside before June 1. He died at 89 coming in from outside after weeding his huge garden by hand. He grew the best roses and veggies. I dug up some of his rose bushes and planted them at my parents' place. They did not survive. I was away at university and I think they were only paid attention when I was home.
Ticks are really bad this year. I have a nasty bite on my back. I think I will have to see the doctor on Monday. I've been able to get several alive and dispatch them.
BBL
Dianne, you are right it does NOT feel like 11 years ago. I was reflecting yesterday that is does not seem possible it has been over 3 years since Ben passed, and THAT does not seem possible.
I hope today is a better day for you Betty.
Yes, Pat, I do feel better. Had a good cry yesterday, then Zoom meeting with my therapist, and another good cry. Then I CLEANED the house.
Have someone coming by to look at taking away my piano tonight. I know, it was my mom's, but I don't know how to play & I believe that's what's pulling the addition away from the main part of my home - it's about 800 lbs (NOT me, as "he" was trying to convince me was the case. How heavy was he saying I am?!?!?! - he was gaslighting me all the time). I'm giving it away. I could put a quilt frame there in its place!!
Sometimes it is hard to part with something sentimental but I wholeheartedly believe you will feel relief and happiness when that is complete. Sometimes it is "just time". When we want to make a change in our life, taking out the stuff "that holds us back" can open us up to new good things.
Today a friend will bring the bed for the guest room and I will put ONE more thing in the garage. Accessing ANYTHING in there is a challenge. I have retained one skinny walkway thru.
Evening all,
Ohhh Dianne, those ticks can be dangerous to your health..i have the bush land at the back but don’t remember ever having ticks, if there are many this year maybe I ought to check Ziggy more but he doesn’t seem to leave the property.
Lovely day for you to have a walk, these anniversaries if you can call them that are difficult, so many memories. My heart goes out to you as well as what Judy would say Armwraps. It will be 33 years this New Year’s Day that Roger passed, it seems like yesterday.when I think of it 47 is far too young to pass.
Susan, a good cry helps healing process, hoping the stress of the court day passes. As for the piano take a photo and set it out, you will still have the memories..wow, with todays musical technology it must be someone who would treasure the piano.
Pat, sorry when are the kids moving, any day right?? Sounds like you are overdoing.. how is Marie?
Lindakay, 89, that is hot. Can you garden where you live or is the soil like at your place?how are you filling in your days?
had a bath and now heading to bed..didn’t ‘now there are so many muscles in the tummy, took a bath and could barely get out. Don’t think I have a belly button left, 2” cut, maybe it’s just the swelling.
Went to town with a list of several places I needed to go, even marked them in order..did 3 which is half and knew it was time to get home, but you have to know I hit the garden Centre and picked up my carpet roses, yep right on the mark, $34.98, now where to plant them. Did stop at Darlene’s, she had ordered 100. 4” pots for me to transplant some seedlings, that can wait for another day as well.
Once rested I put new batteries in some solar light, did 5 and gave that up, took too much strength to take the screw out.
Bought an oven baked pizza and added a lot of different things to it, ate 1 slice and that’s it.
Sooo now comes bed
I'm listening to my Saturday night PBS concert. It's from either Spokane or Seattle. I've heard and watched this particular one a few times and will listen to it several more times. It's 60's Pop, Rock and Soul. What a boon this for several of the 60's singers and groups. Some still tour but many have retired. The hosts are Peter Noone and Davy Jones. Remember those guys ?
Betty I am glad to read you are listening to your body. I've pushed myself so many times and ended up taking longer to heal if I had just followed orders and listened to my body.
Pat how is Stanley ? He'll be happy to have the whole house to himself won't he?
Zeke decided to roll in fish guts this afternoon. The otters bring their catches up onto the shore to eat. I had a small bottle of dog shampoo in the handy pouch Betty made for me so he had a quick bath in the lake. I had my wellies on but could feel the cold water through them.
Pat you are so right about hanging onto things that have sentimental value and really are of no use to you now. I had my parents huge dining room table with 3 leaves and a buffet to match. I finally gave it to someone who would cherish it and was able to free up a lot of space.
The ticks are in the grass as well Betty. I made a conscious effort a few years ago to only walk the TH on the lane and in open fields. Didn't matter they still got ticks.
Stay safe and well.
Had a fun day. Granddaughter's baby boy shower. Many relatives and friends. It was a co-ed shower and many of the husbands showed up. I think because they know Tracy, DD, puts on a pretty good spread. Baby Boy Theodore is due first week of July. Father's whole family came into town and all living grandparents, Uncle's and Aunts. He has two brothers and a sister and you could put them in a crowd with a 1,000 people and you could pick them out. They are Polish/Russian/Jewish Mormons. Some tint of red hair everywhere but dark red not orange red and really think hair. Then there is Hannah, Dark Blonde, blue eyed with English/Viking/Scandinavian. My heritage has won out on the first two great grand-babies. Will be exciting.
Diane, I remember when your Warren died. Vern has been gone 4 years the end of this month. Seems just like yesterday. I still plant his favorite flowers and grow his favorite vegs.
Susan, that is a disappointment. But at least it is over.
Pat, that is a lot of work. And I agree with the comment on the dresses for Prom. I always get photos of different neighbors children when they go to prom. At least the majority of the girls are decently dressed but some are just "What were you or your parents thinking?'. My friend lived to be 102 and an UTI took her down. They can poison your whole body.
Betty, I do not understand what you said about Sharon;s dog breaking his coat? And I do not think you should be mowing the lawn next week.
Linda, I just saw the news about the shootings outside of Dallas. Police Officer near by on another matter heard the shooting, ran toward the gun shots and took the guy out.
Time to feed my animals because I am late and they are letting me know about it.
Hugs to you all.
A sweet young couple came by tonight, and want the piano. They just moved here (in June), and he's getting back into playing. Now, he just has to find a company to move it. If it's reasonable, he'll take it. He'll call me on Monday. They look to be in their 20's & she's expecting.
I'm going to talk to the Seniors group & get this couple a Welcome basket. We said 6 months, but no one has come by to admit to being new to our hamlet, so they'll be our first newcomers :)
We had a family affair baby shower today also. My youngest granddaughter is expecting twin boys. The dear girl is so big and uncomfortable. One grandson showed up from Texas as a surprise. Everyone was so glad to see Walt and were very good about seeing to his needs. The shower was called a sprinke and it was requested that there be diapers and wipes as you can just imagine how many two babies will need over 2 years. Many added fun gifts. T- shirts that said twin one and twin two. Outfits that one had double on and the other had trouble. It was a fun day and a mini reunion combined. We came home and both had a wee nap.
Almost forgot my favorite thing today....this came back into my possession today. It's full and more babies coming so will have to see about adding another row. Jessica started this for me several years ago. This is my entire family. Each branch has their own color.

Karen, you quilt is adorable! A great idea.
A&A are no where near out and I am not a happy camper. IF I did not have Stanley I would either go to Dana & Carrie's house or Marie;s and stay there until they are gone. I can't take Stanley either place and I refuse to hire an animal sitter & leave Stanley alone. That is not fair to him.
Betty, the soil here is about the same I had. So any plants will have to be in pots or raised beds.
Linda, you are making me feel grateful for my soil! When I got here it was so poor I could dig and never find a worm. It's much better now.
Susan, they've been reporting on wildfires in Alberta on the news in Chicago. Praying they're no where near you. I follow a Alberta Wild Horse group on Facebook and they talk about the dryness, and praying for rain but no fires. Hope the same for your area
Morning all, rained all day yesterday but it will be a sunshine day today.
Karen, love that ‘hand’ quilt
Pat, did the deal close, in their home but slow getting out.
Sorry not better planting, does your DIL do Planters? Am sure you soon will be playing in the soil..
Deb, Sharon’s Kunik ( Inuk spelled backwards) is showing at 1:45pm. Knows he won’t do well as he shed his coat..must be so disappointing! Did you have horses?
KyWoods, how is your weather?
Wonder where Judy and Liz went?
Sharon, you must be nearing end of your gardening and soon just daily maintenance
Dianne, how is the TH? Not getting into washed on shore fish I hope..that is worse than skunk smell.
Will be nice for you to sit and enjoy this sunshine.. hope you aren’t getting my yesterday rain. Any call from your winter wood guy?
Susan, hope no wildfires in your neck of the woods. Is the young couple taking your mom’s piano?
It may only have been a 2” cut but painful lasts 2 days, bit of burning sensation to keep an eye out Re infection I guess. It ’s ’s today it’s cool this morning though
Got some door stops positioned on back deck doors so I don’t have to go out let Ziggy in/out 50 times a day.
Wth sunshine, all day rain yesterday and temps rising you can actually see the grass getting greener and taller. Am sure by weekend it will be have to be cut.
Leaves are opening, hate all the cocoon type leaf coverings on my deck, messy messy.
