"Poof" party, how cute!!! Lovely gathering, a testimony of their love for her.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come take a chair and chat with us…newcomers always welcome!
That's awesome.
Appointment this morning. Taking more of my scant supply of blood. I think something was mentioned about a couple of shots but will have to find out more about what they are and what for. Last time a Dr recommended a shot, it cost me $85. because insurance ddn't cover. Big surprise.
Morning all,
What a lovely photo, she sure looks spry, glad you had a wonderful gathering.
Wow Karen, hoping you will not have to pay $85 for each x2
Working in slow motion but am getting around. Wanted to go to wool shop to buy some fluffy wool to start that kitty project but wool shop closed.
Jeff wanted to pay the Chinese bill for last night, i wouldn’t let him, i always get $$ for Christmas from he and the boys, noticed thismorning there was $500 extra in my
account, guess he paid for the Chinese in his own way.
Think i will go look what is in the Valentine’s Day tote,
Little off today, want to do something but can’t figure out what??
I feel I have been so "off" for so long, it must be my new normal.
We all are so out of sorts Pat, for me it’s like not knowing who is me.
Had 2 young ones after school, sure was glad when they left as i had so much pressure in my back so already in bed.
Sharon brought me some Valentine’s Day fabric fat quarters, now to see what i can do with them.
Pat and June unless the weather gets worse are coming in the morning and I’ll take them to Shannon’s for breakfast, a student at 4 so I’m sure there will be no sewing for me tomorrow.
Betty, you need to take a break from the kids, so your body can heal.
We have had rain all day. Very unusual for us. My sister in Ventura, Ca and they are surrounded by flooding but higher so no threat to them. So much damage and I cannot believe all of the gawkers. You could not be any stupider.
My virtual Dr. appointment went well. A nurse in her office called me before the appointment and walked me through how to get on the site. That call was very helpful.
I cleaned out my two file cabinets and it only took me about an hour. I cleaned them out a few years ago so the majority of what I left, could now be pitched. I tried to grind up my alfalfa pellets, but could not find an extension cord. And I have many extension cords. So I am ordering some more and storing them in my bedroom closet. I also need to pot up my coleus cuttings that have rooted.
Susan, I am so pleased that you were invited to the party. I got dropped from a Birthday party invite list because I do not drink and the rest of the party got blasted and I guess I made them uncomfortable.
Karen, your aunt looks great for 94. I hope I am so blessed.
My sister is feeling better but cannot really go anywhere because the roads are not safe. And our rain is to pick up at 10pm tonight and go through the majority of the day. Biggest worry is the high winds that are suppose to hit tomorrow afternoon.
Pat, you should be getting some of this storm. I only go to restaurants with family. Once in a blue moon I am invited to a group of 3 and sometimes accept because there is noway to avoid it. Family wise we only go out to eat a few times a year because we are all good cooks and the price of eating out is outrageous. And it is usually my idea.
This part of the state is a desert, and this is our "rainy" season. We are more apt to get nasty dust storms or wind storms. I am sure winter is NOT over for us, the last couple of years February has been our most snow!
I sent a "Thank you" card to the hosts of the dinner & party, and hope that smooths the way to be invited again. I haven't been invited to anything since Oct before I went to GA - it was an early Thanksgiving dinner & they thought I was going to stay overnight in Calgary to catch my flight in the morning. When it was discovered that I wasn't, I was invited. That was my friend Dianne's family. She has a large family & as I know most of them it was really nice to be included.
Here's hoping for more invites.
Dianne's heading off to Mexico on the 13th, for a month. I'll miss her.
Yesterday we went to town & she showed me a consignment store that's closing on the 20th. 75% off so I bought a lovely suit jacket & blouse. I'd been looking for an appropriate blouse (for YEARS) to go with my Scottish attire, and wouldn't you know it - I found one there. What would have cost $100+ was only $34! Good dearl! The jacket is kinda bohemian - just my style!! Now that I've lost all this weight (32 lbs & countibg!) I find a lot of clothes are getting baggy on me.
Congratulations on the weight loss AND finding some new clothes!!! I hope you get many more dinner invitations. The social part of life can be so rewarding.
Betty, I hope you are EASING into this whole teaching & activity thing. HEAL up!
Debbie, I have not heard how Luca is doing.... Healing up I hope!
Sharon, my sister and I go out to eat occasionally, generally when we are in town running errands and want to be gone longer. I have not gone out by myself in ages. Just does not appear to me. When I visit one of my sons, they generally take SO and myself out. NOW, all 4 of my sons are married.
Susan, congratulations on the Wright loss. I know it's not easy.
Hope you get more invitations as well.
I just got an emotion shock today. An older couple that I've known at least 10 years, and live in Calgary (know them from church as well) are off my list of contacts. I plan on going to Calgary on Friday & while there I'd hoped to visit them. She said "I'm angry at you - why would you invite John to come play cards with you, and not me?". I've tried to invite them to come to my new home (they've never seen my new "digs"), and each time she says because of medical issues she couldn't take the hour long drive without having a washroom nearby. She said "John would like that, why not pick him up?" I wasn't going to ask him, but she insisted, and when I did (thinking 2 hours of driving would mean he could meet some of my friends & even play cards at the Senior Centre), he said "I wouldn't like to leave Anne alone". Ok, 'nuff said, and never said anything more.
I did say "you're the one who suggested it" and finally I asked if we're ok now. She said something then the phone died. I have problems with our phones here, so I called her back and asked what happened. She said "I hung up" so I said "ok, goodbye". Then I emailed her saying "Anne, If you're going to be mad at me for something I didn't do, then so be it. I wanted to come visit the TWO of you on Friday, but you've decided I said or did something you didn't like and hung up on me. Don't call me again. I have enough on my plate with Bob and don't need negativity in my life. His trial date is next month on Feb 15th and I'm trying to get a divorce. Susan"
I REALLY don't need her negativity, so that's that. I went to Wellness afterwards and cried on another friend's shoulder. I didn't need this, and I don't know where it came from. This being a single, while freeing me of Bob's abuse, sucks.
On another note, I was talking to a young woman at the Library, and she has a 14 yo nephew that she's going to pass my info on to, and I may have myself a willing paid helper for some stuff around the house & yard. He just got a car (he can drive in rural communities, I guess, without a licence) and could use gas $$.
Evening all
Didn’t realize Pat that your state has desert, i usually do well in USA geography but must have missed that one., will have to go look at the map..
I had a student tonight but i had to sit the 2 hours she was here, so much pressure in In my
Oops fell asleep,
Oh Susan, I am so sorry. You do have enough on your plate without that kind of interaction with another person. Sometimes it just seems that people kick you when you are down. I am praying you will find new and positive friends that can be a support to you.
I hope the young man turns out to be a good resource for help for you. I do not know what I would do without my neighbor boys. When I need help, they are always so willing and able.
Had my nails done today and then went to the grocery store. Oh my. I am getting old. I very seldom go to the grocery store and I spent $168 and took forever to find what I wanted. I was totally shocked by the prices. I asked for someone to help me put my groceries in my car because it was rainy and windy and I was totally worn out and I should not have been.
Cleaning out the storage room, many items got stacked into the laundry room. Well today I put the majority of those items where they needed to be. I also changed the items in my kitchen from roosters to floral. I may change it back. Not quite happy with the look.
We had rain the majority of the night last night and most of the day today. Robins are all over every lawn looking for worms that the rain drives to the surface. I still have 3 hummers, male, fighting over the feeder in the back landscape. I have two in the front and they are being ignored.
My granddaughter and her husband just called me and they are having a boy. Husband is over the moon. They are so cute. And they have a vegetable garden and they picked their first radishes and were so thrilled.
Betty, please get better. When I get in bed, I usually stay in one area. Last night I was all over the bed. At one time laying sideways in the bed. One time outside my sheet and blankets. The rain kept waking me up.
Susan, that is so weird. But she probably forgot what she said. Better now, than when you showed up at their door.
Hugs to you all.
Luca is healing up well. Had the remaining stitches removed last Saturday. He got a few out on his own, but no permanent damage. Started basic obedience last night with his brother JohnJohn. That's going to be interesting. They're big into positive reinforcement, no corrections. It would be nice if this works, but, I'm not too sure. I think there will be corrections when we're practicing at home.
Double posted.

Good morning everyone.
Looks like this morning will be the last of the good weather will leave today. Rain but not like those poor souls in Cali.
Deb I have never trained a dog without corrections. I'm the 1 who walks around with liver/beef treats in my pocket. It gives people a chuckle when dogs come up to me in a store. I won't hand out a treat until they sit - I'm sorry to say some fogs have never been trained to do that. I hope your first class with JohnJohn goes well.
Last Sunday I went to Ottawa to see the play Come From Away. Made my heart smile when I heard that Newfie accent, plus the scene of 'kissing the cod'. I had the book and shared it with 4 other people who loved it like I did.
Susan I hate to read you being subjected to such negativity from someone you thought you could trust. I know it is hard but stay positive. My first husband stalked me and some nights with a gun. I was an emotional wreck. Just even though I know it will be hard think of all the positives you have reached so far. Sending hugs and strength your way.
Betty, Betty, Betty what are we going to do with you ? Wish we all lived closer to give you support. I am happy to read you are starting to take better care of yourself. It took a bit of time but at least I've learned not to do things that I did with ease before or take longer to complete the task.
Zeke has a new trick - it took me a few mornings to figure out why all of the mats are in the bedroom. I saw him with my very own eyes him tote a couple of mats into the BR. He is house trained but I still put out a few areas by the front door just in case. I have hardwood upstairs and don't want it marked up. Like the little angel he is he is laying right over my legs -he is such a cuddler.
Sharon it is a shock when you go into the grocery to see the prices. Soup that was 3 for $1 are now $1 each. I gasp when I see the price of veggies.
LK how are you and Todd doing ? Are you getting this wacky weather ? It is like Spring here.
Karen when I saw your photo when Aunt Bonnie visited I smiled because I saw so many smiles in the photo.
If you see too many o's in a word my o is sticking and I might have missed it.
We got one of those battery operated nail trimmers when they first came out. I bought a small package of little liver training snacks at the same time. Took no time at all and the dogs would actually hold up their paw for trimming. They always got treats after each foot.
Sorry to hear all you are going through Susan. Praying it all works out.
We are having beautiful weather here. Mid to upper 70"s during the day, 50's at night. Not bad at all.
Todd is hanging in there. We see his surgeon on the 18th. Praying we get some answers.
Just watching the news. All flights in the US are canceled due to nation wide computer failure. Don't know if they have been hacked or not. What a mess!
Flights canceled??? Goodness, flying has become a huge hassle!!
I am relieved to hear Luca is healing up. You had me worried when we had not heard from you in a while.
Zeke is too funny. Too smart for his britches. Reminds of my cat when I lived in Othello.
Betting my nieces hubby is having a crazy day. He works for SouthWest as a flight router. He works in the tower but his job is to study weather patterns all over the country so he can tell planes which route to fly. He went to college for a long time to learn all that.
Evening all..
Sorry, haven’t been on, been in a slump seeing i can’t to do much but lay on couch and I’d I do something I pay for it.
Susan, sorry you and your friend are having difficulties. Miscommunication often leads to the end of great friendships. You certainly didn’t need this extra tension.
Lindakay, January 18th has taken so long in coming, sure hope you and Todd can get some answers. I haven’t listened to the news, all flights??hard to comprehend how that could be.
Karen, you feeling better, did you doctor notes get to the new doc?
Deb, glad Luca is doing ok..was a scare. When will you show John John.
Sharon I find grocery shopping is the hardest thing to do..think with all the illness going round we rush about to get out quickly and i know for me get frazzled.
Karen, wish i could use nail trimmer on Ziggy seeing I cannot get him in a crate but am sure he would claw me to death.
Dianne, everyone I know who has seen that play has nothing but good to say. I loved my visit to NewFoundland, did the drink Re kissing the cod but not like the gals in my group, wet my lips, out of all the grocery stores Dianne Foodland is the most expensive. Zeke brings you so much joy.. wish Ziggy was more cuddly.
Was cold today, was a couch potato..Sharon drove over and dropped a few meds she got for her back, helped relieve the pressure a bit..will call doctor ‘s office tomorrow and see if I can get a phone appointment.
I had a very bad start to my day and it was way too early to have to deal with.
Betty, The records did not get there. The P.A. I saw took my information and is requesting the records. I'll bet that will be more successful. Mean while they gave me an ouchy shot that is supposed to help boost my iron absorbsion. They are suppose to be calling me when they set up another infusion date. I'm realy getting weary of all this doctoring. And tomorrow I finally have an appointment with a Primary. She will want to get her finger in the pie also. It's just all too much.
Karen, sometimes it does feel overwhelming. Gentle hugs and good thoughts sent your way.
Had a good day at Crib today - only the 5 of us, but we enjoyed each other's company. Afterwards Dianne asked me to come set up her new tablet. I told her I would, if she'd feed me dinner lol She's a widow, and having newly lost her son to cancer, I know she has lonely times too. She is such a caring friend. She leaves for Mexico on the 15th for one month. She has a friend there that also goes to Mexico but hasn't gone for 12 years at the same time. It will be nice to see each other again. Dianne knows I'll miss her - she & I are pretty sympatico. Driving home from her place it was pretty foggy but I got home alright. I hope the fog's all gone for when I go to town tomorrow. I have a Zoom meeting at 10 with my counsellor, then to town for bowling, then dinner with a friend that lives there, then to a painting class. My friend Catherine is joining me for all 3 things. I won't get home until about 9:30pm. I'm going to paint the blue butterfly. There's also a winter scene. Here they are. I'm hoping that we can get her to our hamlet to teach painting. She's willing, now we have to find the people to attend. Apparently someone tried to get interest in learning to paint here, but the instructor wanted $$ upfront & that was a sticking point. This teacher requires payment when you come, so this would be agreeable, I should think.
ALSO, I'm going to teach a quilting class here, in Torrington at the Senior's hall. I've already gotten interest from 2 ladies. I can figure out the material requirements for a lap quilt (9 1/2" squares) where you build up the pattern on a plain piece of fabric, and end up with a layered piece 9 1/2". I can't remember the name of the process, but you don't see the bottom layer. Then you join all the blocks together & it's the top. You don't need batting if you want to do a light quilt, just add the back & borders. It's a patchwork quilt with only the centre being cut to a shape. The center is sewn onto the backing, you add pieces around (irregular shapes, just as long as they will line up on the center piece), until you fill the 9 1/2" square, then you flip it over, and cut away the excess beyond the 9 1/2"
I might do an Around The World quilt-in-a-day, too.
Sounds like you had a busy day Susan.
Marie got the call from the lab. When they did the back procedure Monday they took a bone marrow sample. It is not cancerous. That is at least good news but the procedure did not provide any relief for Phil. He is in so much pain he is hardly eating & getting weaker and weaker. He could not use his walker Monday, Marie had to push him.
Sorry to hear you are n so much pain Betty, sure wish the doctor could do something.
Karen, hoping the doctors can get your info all together and help you as well.
Susan, those are beautiful paintings. That quilt sounds like a quilt as you go?
Pat, sending prayers for Phil.
Morning, snowy day out there, last time i parked the car it was backed in close to back deck staircase..woke up to joe’s ATV but he couldn’t get through to do back area so out i went and moved the car, did my steps buy hoping a Joe realizes I’ve moved my car and there is room for him to get in and plow that area.
Big sigh Karen, dealings with our doctors lead us into deeper frustration, nee don’t seem to get anywhere, mega frustration.
Susan, yes does sound like a quilt as you go project you are doing, did two and cut a 3rd but been using it for scraps.
Sounds like you have a great program set up…now to get more interested in joining in.
Great news on Phil, sorry to hear he is losing strength though, not a good sign.
Sky is black, thinking we might accumulate more snow thanI want.
Got up and felt the pain wasn’t too bad, had my bath, nasty on couch and guess i turned the wrong way,,yikes, back to hurting..will call doctors office at 10
Well first impression with new primary Dr. is good. She has called in my scripts already and being filled. She seems to be very caring and down to earth, did not push for shots and vaccines I do not want. She knows which of my other Drs. are taking care of my different issues and agrees to care for what I asked her to. I don't have to go back for 6 months unless there are any issues with my labs. Thumbs up Thumbs up Thumbs up
Glad to hear she is working with you.
That is great news Karen, finally someone you feel will listen to you.
I got a phone appointment set with my doctor for the 20th, my fault for this pain, kept thinking it would go away..
Storming here, had a bagel this morning, one for lunch, drats, might as well have one for supper then bath and bed.
Ziggy keep trying to get me to bed..
Wish i could get out of this funk!!!
Wish we were closer. We could figure out something to get you feeling better.
That's good news Karen!
Betty, I am sure being confined to bed and "down" is enough for you to be in funk! You are a busy, busy lady and inactivity is your enemy.
Morning, 23F with a feel like 9F..
My prayers to Selma, Alabama for all their lost. I spent time in Montgomery and Selma on one of our roadtrips..saddens me to hear this
suppose to see sun Saturday and Sunday which will be nice. i don’t think our trails are open though because I heard Greg say he might be going north again, you have to love snowmobiling to drive 6-7 hrs north.
I didn’t sleep much last night but i must have dropped off after 4, slept til about 9.
I feel much less pain and pressure getting up so perhaps unless i do something stupid I’m on the mend.
I hope so Betty. I hope this is the beginning of feeling better and healing up.
I did enjoy my day Pat, less pain and more ability.
For the first time in many a day i sat and played with crafts.
I buffed wax on stained glass piece that was s for Suzanne, haven’t seen her to give her piece,. Then i brought upstairs a bag of Valentine’s Day fabric pieces i must have cut for the piece i did last year so pinned them together..behaved, nothing too physical.
Hope tomorrow brings same. Sharon would like to go to Barrie, we will see
My grandson from Spokane is here for the weekend. His parents are on a golfing outing. He will be 60 in August so his wife has planned a trip each month foe him to golf somewhere they have not golfed. This weekend thy are headed to Utah. Looks like tomorrow they will be getting rain and snow.
My daughter had Luke the majority of the day today and I gardened with my garden helper. I cut back many plants that had frost damage. Just nipped because we didn't get that cold.
Betty, I am so pleased you are getting some relief. Sounds like a nerve was being pinched because of swelling. The swelling has reduced so the nerve is not pinched as much. I know that nerve pain and it is terrible. Betty I loved your stain glass on Facebook.
I have moved some of my prized succulents to shelter because it is suppose t get colder mid week at night.
Got on here late, Hugs to all of you.
Betty, so glad you are getting some relief. Now don't go doing something too strenuous and putting yourself back into pain.
Message from my new Dr. today. She said all the labs are good so I don't need to go back for 6 months.
I got a quilt cut out today and started doing some of the piecing. Lots of flying geese to make so doing them first as I like them the least. Should have paid more attention to my pattern choice.
