We are doing ok. Still stressing about Todd losing weight. He is down to 133 lbs. We see his surgeon on the 18th. Praying he has answers.
I love that photo.
Sure hope you are feeling better soon.

Verona, ON

Freezing rain here and is expected to do so over night. When I heard the weather report I went out this morning and got water, milk and dog supplies.

Betty if you put that bread in the freezer even though it is past due date it will be fine. I keep my bread in the fridge freezer and only take out slices as I need them.

Pat that was good advice you gave Marie about only unloading the perishables.

Karen you must be excited that your sewing room is almost ready for you to use. Bet your feet won't freeze now.

Zeke went through the ice yesterday on 1 of the larger swamps. He took a couple of seconds before he realized he needed to swim. I am going to have to walk him on a leash until I am sure the ice is safe. I have a 20 ft leash that will at least allow him to roam in the woods. He's only 9 months so has lots of puppy energy to work off.

Susan how are your bumps and bruises ?

Sharon what are your temperatures today ?

LK how are you and Todd ?

Deb are the injuries on Luka healed up ? I hate puncture words. I keep an electric shave in the bathroom for just that reason.

Stay safe and well.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

When Zeke thru the ice I would have panicked, I am sure!

Betty, in that picture Grayson looks so much like his Dad!! You need to reassess what you call a successful day. You spent another successful day HEALLING and not aggravating your injuries. Time is the gift you are giving yourself.

I have a paid membership to Walmart and have groceries delivered. Between the membership and the tip I give the driver, it costs me $35 a month. I honestly believe I save that much in savings of NO impulse purchases and dramatically reduced calorie consumption. That's really been working for me. I have done it for over a year.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I’ve never heard about a Walmart membership, is it because they deliver to you hom Pat? Sine December I’ve had a lot I’d healing days..

Dianne I’d be freeking big time, he is at a weight that I’m sure if there is a skim of ice he would be breaking through it, that alone I’d be screaming..hope you aren’t tempted to go try and get him out.

You shave the punctured area when dogs get in to it? Brave lady I’d bewooried he would bite.

Are you back to work Deb?

Susan how are you doing?
Lindakay it seems like forever to get to see a doctor, not a wonder you are fretting.

Thank you all for kind words Re Grayson..he is getting so big.

I’ve been 8n bed for an hour listening to the rain, odd for this time of year, will check weather channel, likely like Dianne, freezing rain then snow

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, it has been months since I've seen my aunt. Either her or I was sick and then we were so busy with the move. In fact it's been a long time since any of us have seen her. That's why so many are coming for lunch. So far we are nine but I'm sure that number will go up. She is a favorite of us all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Big gathering, she will enjoy seeing everyone.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Started the day wanting to stay in bed. It was cold. Our high was 48 and that is cold for us. Then we had just a little rain which put moisture in the air, for us that makes it colder. But Fred, my garden helper showed up at 8:30 and took Emma for her morning walk while I got in the shower and got dressed. We had a cup of coffee and then started putting my large Santa's in their boxes. About 25 Santa's. About 12 noon we stopped and I made a quick lunch and then we hit the store room where the Santa's were to be returned. Well like Betty, I hit the room and didn't get a Santa moved into the room until around 5 because I started cleaning off shelves and found garbage that would be thrown away in a second if my children we doing the clean up after I am deceased. So I decided, why not know. I got a seat in the garage and sat by the shredder and went to town with all kind of legal documents that needed gone. Can't burn here.

Karen I am so pleased you are getting a visit from your Aunt. I am with you. My hair is so thin and now completely white so a hair cut does not take long. Sound like a delicious lunch. Have a wonderful time.

Betty, I eat bread way beyond it's best by date. As long as there is no mold growing on it I will eat it. And if there is only mold on an edge, I will cut it off and eat it. So sorry abut your pain. Body just trying to tell you to stop and sit down. Your Grandbaby is adorable.

Diane, that is so scary that your baby fell through the ice. Thank God you got him.

I will check in tomorrow. Hugs to you all.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

The membership thing is only because our Walmart WILL deliver. You either pay $7.95 per delivery, or buy a monthly membership.

Enjoy your luncheon, sounds like fun!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sharon, It's dangerous to eat bread that has grown mold even if you cut the moldy part off. I keep bread in the fridge even though it's not supposed to be done. When I buy it it all goes in the freezer.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, oh happy days,I’m moving slowly so that is a good sign.

June dropped in, her daughter was hit by a driver than ran a stop sign, totalled her car.
She moved in the June’s husband died to help june and here she is not to do anything for awhile. She filled in papers to try and get helper to help them both..police said she was a lucky girl.
Shortly after Marie dropped in to check up on me.
Feels like it should be 3pm as it’s do dark and dreary. It’s 36F here. Mild for us..

I will try to go to Foodland later as I need a few things, i will pick up the frozen bread ball so if I need bread i can take some out and bake some..i find frozen bread has a funny taste.

That is cheap enough for the membership swing they deliver and yes, you always spend more than you want to while walking the aisles picking up extras.

Think i will go downstairs for 15 minutes and look to see if I’ve any red fabric and white that has no Christmas tone on tone..saw the ad from Joanne’s yesterday..drats wish i could sit comfortable enough to go

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

The puppies came a little earlier than expected so far: 3 yellow females, 1 black female, 1 chocolate female & 2 black males and a 3rd black male he lost. Adam thinks Nova is done. I will go see them if/when Andrea leaves the house.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That's a lot of puppies. What kind of dog? Photos please?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you are moving a little better today Betty. Please don't over do it.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sounds like the puppies are Labs.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How exciting is that, that is a lot of puppies. Look forward to photo’s, mom doing ok?

Even doing a little has put me back on my back, just made Mac/tomato and hamburger, took an effort but it will last me several days..I’ll eat then off to bed with heating throw.

I’m all screwed up with my days, bet it’s the same at your house..

How did your day go

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Purebred labs, count now at 3 yellow females, 2 black females & 3 black males (1 did not make it), 1 female chocolate & 1 chocolate male. I don't have any decent pictures yet. The heat lamp totally distorts the colors. Nova is doing great. I hope the poor sweetie is done.
With these 3 female yellows, I believe Adam with likely have Nova spade and Thaddeous neutered. Any way you look at it, they are his issue not mine & hopefully will ALL be out of here within the next couple of months.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That's a lot of puppies to clean up after. Can't wait to see photos.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Karen, you need to know that our mother served us spoiled food every day for years. We had a very small fridge so anything she cooked and had left overs, she stored in the cold oven. Or in a pot on the cold stove. This is the way we lived the majority of our lives. At least until I was in high school. And if cheese or bread had mold on i, it was just cut off. All of us siblings joke that you cannot give us food poisoning because we were fed it at every meal. It tasted fine but if you look at what not to do today, we got our daily dose.

We had a very rainy day which was beautiful. Everyone liked it except my cat Peanut. She does not use the litter box, she goes potty outside. She would make it about foot out the door and then flee back. I finally let her out the bedroom door that opens out to the covered patio.

Betty, I wish your back would give in and get better. I am cleaning out the storage room off the laundry room. It is a large storage room. About 75% done with two days of de-cluttering and shredding. 6 bins of shredded paper into the recycle. Mostly old tax returns and investment statements. Found items I completely forgot about. Also got the Christmas decorations boxed and put back up. Garden helper and grandson did that hard work.

Pat, that is a lot of puppies. And I agree with Linda, a big mess.

I see the President is visiting El Paso this weekend Linda. Going to limit the number of immigrants coming in at 30,000 per month.

My snap peas are putting on peas. I usually eat them right off the vine.

I will check in tomorrow. Hugs and rainbows.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh Sharon, I so understand. We spent much time on a farm my grandparents rented. It was war, times were hard. My grandparents had seven kids and me. Everything was rationed then. My dad was in NY shipping out when I was born. Didn't see me in person until I was three. We made it and it made us stronger.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, couch day with heather throw on my hip/back.we had the largest snowflakes fall for a few hours but melted as soon as they hit the ground.

Pat, labs should be easy sells, especially the golden labs.

Well everyone, got a loaf of bread, going to keep out 8 slices, someone mentioned putting a piece of paper towel in the bag going into the freezer.

Sharon don’t you find the house drab now that Christmas pieces are put away?
Can’t waiting to get valentines day totes in but won’t me bringing them in or putting them away.

If Jeff and the boys come this weekend they will have a list of “to do’s”

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you will put the boys to work.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

"Hugs and rainbows" LOL... yep.

Betty, I hope the guys can come & take care of a bunch of that stuff so YOU won't be tempted beyond your ability to resist! I am sorry you are in such pain.

Karen, "that which does not kill us, makes us stronger". I don't wish hardship on anyione but I do think it helps people learn what is important and how to go without.

Yes, I am amazed at the price they sell puppies for. Adam certainly had no trouble getting all the puppies sold last time and he will start the marketing MUCH sooner this time. I do not expect to get bonded to ANY puppy this time. LAST time, because Adam & Andrea were in the midst of moving, Sam & I did ALL the puppy care for the weeks between 1 week and 6 weeks. I had LOTS of opportunities to hold and cuddle them. That will not be the case this time.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That would be my problem Karen, bonding and not being able to let some go.’that which does not kill us makes us stronger” got to think about that.

Jeff & boys coming Sunday, i had choice of Saturday or Sunday, chose Sunday as it will give me one more day to rest. They are all young strapping men, should be able to get some things done Lindakay…
it’s usually me that says ‘you are here to visit, not work’ but won’t say that Sunday.

I haven’t been off couch except to warm up eats & washroom, now heading to bed. One thing about having so much back pain is I’m not feeling my neck pain lol

Getting tired of this..

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Continued on the storage room and just abut everything is out of there. My laundry room is a mess and I can take care of that tomorrow. Garden crew came today and with the help of my garden helper, they cut back my ivy in the front landscape. You know you cannot kill ivy but it sure looks butchered. It was getting totally out of hand and it would have taken me and my garden helper weeks to get done what they got done in about 2.5 hours. Now after we checking the bubblier lines, because I can guarantee many got cut, then we can finishing trimming and then spread alfalfa pellets, compost, and spray with fish emulsion then just wait for spring. Neighbors are probably going to have a heart attach.

Emma, my dog got groomed today and didn't get a nap this afternoon because I was busy so right now she is snoring away.

Today was sunny and bright. I actually did some gardening.

I made a cabbage, potato soup today with a pork shank and then cut up a Costco chicken and made fajitas.

Pat, they will be shocked with how much work it is because you did it last time. Labs are just about a perfect dog.

Karen, we were poor but we didn't know it. But we were in a very small town and with deer meat and my parents growing and canning vegetables, no one went hungry. And we always had wood for heat. My mother grew up on a farm so she knew the drill.

Betty, so pleased the boys are coming over Sunday. Still praying your back pain subsides. My sister said she is finally feeling better.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sharon, having help you can count on is a blessing!!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pat you are so right. We couldn't manage without help from our family.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

A friend came over for her regular Saturday visit. Her truck would not start so called garden helper for assistance. Only problem is he got her car stated right away and then stayed around for 4 hours. He is a tremendous help ad walked Emma on her afternoon and cleaned the KOI pond but I was ready for some quiet time.

My granddaughter and her DH and 2 children stopped by to help Brian with his laptop. They fixed it in no time but stuck around for a nice visit.

Didn't do to much today. A load of wash, walked Emma for 43 minutes and then listened to friend and garden helper for the rest of the day.

Where is Betty today. Her not being on here is no good news.

I am headed to Netflix. In 3rd season of 4 seasons of "In the Dark". My sister recommended it. Some sex scenes but I just fast forward through them. My sister is still fighting the after effects of Covid. Not going to church tomorrow and that is entirely not like her.

Hope you are well and have a great Sunday.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Too much of a good (visiting from friends and family) can be TOO much! LOL Years ago, we moved from our home out in the sticks into town & "everybody" would drop by, it was so conveniently located!
Sharon, you may not have "got a lot done" but you got visiting done, and that is important too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like a nice day for everyone to visit. Praying your sister recovers soon.
Betty, hope you are resting, and not lifting those totes.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I used to cut the mold off the bread, but I don't eat bread anymore so it's not an issue lol I keep my carbonaut "bread" in the fridge all the time because it's the type that needs to be kept refrigerated.
Betty - pleased to know you're moving a bit better. PLEASE take a lot of care.
btw - my bumps & bruises are all but gone, and I'm walking normally.
I got a dinner invitation yesterday to a dinner last night, at a friend's home. He & his girlfriend (also a friend of mine) had a dinner party - turkey & ham & all the fixings. It was lovely. Afterwards we either played Rumoli (I learned & played), or wandered around chatting. I met some new people, plus there were others that I know. It was a lovely evening.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you are feeling better Susan. Glad you enjoyed your dinner with friends.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, just getting ready to go to Foodland to pick up a fruit tray..as for lunch or supper depend8ng when Jeff/boys get here I’ll just order Chinese.

Had a visitor for most of yesterday afternoon, Arthur is like one of my own, he was adopted and not very well treated at home, weekends and summer when they were at their cottage he stayed with Roger and I, was Jeff’s best friend. He has done extremely well so what a gift when these kids remember you.

I had send to all the kids who come sewing/crafting that I was stating up next week so hope I’m more mobile.

I’ll come and chat when i get back from Foodland, just wanted you to know I’m up, mov8ng very slowly, pain is mostly I’m the hips now…

Good morning, glad to see you posting.
It's always nice to see old friends. Glad he stopped by.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Relieved to see you post Betty, worries us when we don't see you!!

Susan, so very nice you got to spend time with long time friends, & meet new ones. I've never been l good at inviting people over. I do invite my SIL Sharon & a friend Sheila. On a RARE occasion I have thought to invite a friend out to dinner. Just never developed the habit.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

It used to be a regular thing for "us" to invite several people for dinner or an evening (NYE, for instance), but there's no point now. Men won't come with wives if it's "only" a woman in the household, and lots have groups of friends whose house they'll go to, or they have groups over to their homes, but single women are seldom invited.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

That's too bad Susan. Have you had much further contact with the camping group that you met earlier?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yes, we have our first camping (when I'll get to meet them) mid-May.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, the exact thing happened when i became i widow anything that was being held if seen as a couple thing I’d never get invited..watch out if you were at a dance (was at a lot because i organized them as recreation coordinator) if any of the hubbies asked me to dance, it was as if I was steeling their man. Emphasize with you.

Well, Christmas is officially over for me..
Beautiful visit with the boys, a lot of laughing and carrying on,wayy too much Chinese, could have another gathering and still have left overs.none of them wanted to take home left overs but i did get rid of lemon meringue pie, the blueberry i will freeze, the
Chocolate pie i will have to eat.
Had the boys take down the tree, 1 1/2 totes of snowman ornaments and 6 totes of quilts and decorations.. too funny, they put them in back shed, really dark inthe shed but the did bring in a valentines tote. Still 2 more valentines to come in but they couldn’t find them

Jeff added prime to my tv so i will start to watch Yellowstone series.

I’m taking a break then I’ll clean kitchen up then to bed.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you will be meeting with. The campers soon Susan.
Betty, glad the boys helped you with your totes, and you had a good visit.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

All I had to do was say Aunt Bonnie is coming and Poof we had a party. She was so surprised at everyone here. She will be 94 this year. A few had to leave before we got to photos due to prior commitments. Wonderful day, many, many laughs, hugs and fun stories.
