Betty, look how pretty this is for a garden.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come take a chair and chat with us…newcomers always welcome!
That is beautiful garden art but it would not survive the winds we get here.
We have got another whole quilt on & off yesterday with another whole cloth quilt loaded on the longarm. Marie was so tired and not functioning well by that point so we shut down. I am, not sure if we will go after it today or not.
On Fridays @ noon Marie & I meet with another friend for a weight loss group (JUST us 3, and we are not willing to add more). Lots of time Marie & I go take care of errands or go to thrift stores together afterwards. I would really like to knock out that other quilt and maybe get another small panel with borders done today. I NEED the consistency to get this skill embedded! I timed my small panel with borders (36 x 45, a Tinkerbell quilt). I got it loaded and outside basted in 20 minutes yesterday. I still need to put the binding on.
Glad to hear you got a quilt done yesterday.
I love that, Karen. Is that stained glass between the spokes of a bike wheel? That would be great garden art!
Let me start off by saying, I know nothing about quilts. I ran across this on Facebook marketplace, I think it's beautiful. It's 100" x 83", she's asking $75 for it. That seems too good to be true. She says it's handmade, but, she doesn't know how old it is. Says it's in excellent shape. $75 just seems way, way too cheap for a hand embroidered quilt that size. I messaged her and will meet up to see it next week.
That piece looks old. I know that here, in Canada, it would cost about $250 just for the material and that would be brand new. It DOES sound too good to be true. All that cross-stitch hand embroidery would take a long time to do. It could be that she truly doesn't know the value & it would be a terrific find. If it's new $75 is cheap, If it's as old as it looks and in excellent shape, it could go for thousands. It would be interesting to see what you find. Please let us know.

That is a beautiful quilt. It is hand sewn, embroidered and quilted. She may have even bought it at a thrift store. Sadly when people pass and leave treasures like this behind, They are not appreciated and get donated. If in decent shape, Worth as much as $500. Even gently worn quilts have great value. I see them all the time at auctions and many go for 30 or 40 dollars. Many people are unaware of the value.
Grab it.
Yep, grab it if it is in good condition and you like it.
My dad had an old quilt that was in beat up condition he was going to use basically as packing material!! I got it from him & used it in a display on a big pottery shelf at a friend's house. We set it up as a "picnic" with stuffed bears and mason jar of silk daisies with the quilt handing over the edge of the shelf along the living room wall.
If you look on Ebay you can also find what is called "cutter quilts". Those are quilts in bad condition that you can cut up for craft projects.

Thanks for your input. I'm just not too sure about meeting up with a total stranger, but, from her profile, she looks ok. If it's at all in decent shape, I will get it. I didn't realize that prices could go so high on these, but, handmade, that's a lot of hours put in to it.
Meet her in a public place. Well lit busy parking lot.
That quilt is beautiful
Deb the quilt is beautiful. Good advice about meeting in a well lit public place.
Zeke is having a play date with Piper, Keiran's dog. With my knee I can't walk the boys like I usually do so he has lots of extra energy. I have never had a dog that likes to chew fabric like Zeke does. He has all sorts of chewies and toys but nope his go to if I am not looking or asleep is fabric.
Betty how are you ? Did you hear or read the news about John Tory ? I was shocked - so much for the title Mayor Bland. Toronto will miss his steady hand.
Lots of sun here today. It feels so good having it shine through the windows.
Pat you pack a lot into a day. Good for you.
I see the Neuro optha doc on Monday in Kingston. I have an early appointment which is good as by mid day they are usually 2 - 3 hours behind. I make sure I ask for early as 1 time my appointment was at 3 and I didn't get in until after 6 pm.
Anyone heard from Liz or Judy ?
Stay safe and well.
Hi - someone asked me how I'm going to quilt the Maple Leaf Heart quilt. Well, I'm going to hand quilt around the outline of the leaf & the outline of the heart. all the sashing I'll machine quilt, so it'll be a mix lol A lot of people wouldn't approve - either machine or hand quilt. I like to hand quilt, but don't have the time, so it will be a mix, cuz I want to see the leaves & hearts on the back
Be back in a sec but wanted to say
Deb, pict that quick up today, beyond a bargain and looks in great shape. My mom has done several cross stitch patterns, all were hand quilted by aunt Muriel, in fact I think I have same done, also have 2 sets of blocks to do another few..the hours and hours that went into it. You could buy the stamped fabric blocks for $75 let alone the embroidery thread.
Glad Deb got the quilt and it was as good as hoped for. Now it can be her heirloom.
Deb got the quilt? Great find for her :)
I don't have it, yet, but plan to. I talked to the woman on Friday, she was out of town for the weekend. I have dog training classes right after work on Mondays, so, we're meeting up after work on Tuesday. I'm planning on getting it, unless there is something really wrong with it when I see it.
Morning, sunshine day but extremely icy, just salted the back steps and pathway to driveway.
Oh Deb can’t wait to see photo of your quilt treasure. Was your worry for not, did the seller turnout to be friendly? Were you able to get any background on it?
Yes, don’t think many of the families that will inherit our quilts know the value of them, God only knows where m8ne will end up but we won’t be here to worry about it right?
Susan, you will be making a treasure of your own.
Sharon, you must be close to the end of the work part of gardening? I mentally can see all the areas you are working on, so beautiful, glad i got to visit that day.
Dianne, how are you managing, hope you don’t go out with all this ice but the TH must be enjoying the sunshine.
Karen how is your sewing? Bet it’s enjoyable now you don’t have to freeze while sewing.
Lindakay, how is Todd doing today.. must be lonely you not getting out much but sure understand your wanting to be by his side 24/7
Young Evan made a Valentine’s Day throw for his other, she is excited as can be. Likely next week Mason will finish his throw.
Found the Easter workshop piece, now I just have to find the supplies. Will go out one day and make that my only task so my back doesn’t give out.
Speaking of backs giving out, when i went to town to buy another jar of paint it was a couple of doors from deco shop was the cbd and h?? So i bought trial pkgs of gummies, cut one in half and took it last night, so yummy i could have eaten the entire bag. Guess you can’t judge on 1/2 a gummy, guess I should still have taken my night meds..did nothing but dream and toss and turn, about to take the other 1/2 and see.
The sciatica belt though is a miracle..couldn’t get off couch, put it on and voila, a lot less pain and can manoeuvre somewhat, at least get a few things done, slow but sure.. Will get results from heart test, tummy hernia then will request that this back situation be looked after.
Better go stir my spaghetti sauce, know what’s for supper.
Yesterday I picked up Kentucky fried chicken, 4 piece meal, ate 1/2 so for dinner that is what I will have.
What are you all doing and what is your weather like?
Evan's throw is great!! No wonder his mother is happy with it! I hope Mason's is as nice.
I went to a service project Saturday for 2 hours, I worked outside. NO way was I entering that house!! Even with all the people who came, we barely made a dent in the mess. I am paying the price today, wheezing etc.
Marie & I spent more time on the longarm. I don't think the machine liked the brand of thread we have. I changed to a different brand and had less problems.
thread makes all the difference, if she changes thread her machine just won’t work..they are a finicky piece of machinery.
What is a service project?? Is it where members from church go clean like a hoarders home? Not a wonder you are sore..bet most in the group were elders.
I have the urge to declutter all my seasonal decor..maybe because I’ve been house and couch bound I’m feeling overwhelmed by all the decor..been looking at all the walls and hating hating the room..pictures should be updated..
Was looking at quilt ladder next to buffet I am painting, already have one downstairs..maybe somewhere 9n the d3xks it can go
He did a wonderful job on his throw. Know he is so proud of it.
I love that bunny too.
What are the white shelves for?
Todd had a teleconference with his kidney doctor Friday. His lab work was good. Only problem was he is low on magnesium, so that is another pill added to his list. He has gained 8 pounds, and that is good. But he is still very weak, hard for him to get up from the recliner. He still sleeps a lot. It is lonely here, but I wouldn't be doing anything else. I got the scrappy 9 patch top done, and I have enough purple squares cut, I am going to make one something like this next.
Wonderful, 8 lbs is a start, now for further consults.
I was only 41/2 weeks with Roger being ill, i was totally mentally drained can’t imagine (can a bit) how you are doing it… prayers and hugs
That would be a beautiful piece, looking forward to seeing it.
As for the bunny lots to put together as a kit.. might have to think about it before I buy 30 cake tins lol
That cabinet is 1/2 done, was my old cabinet with scrolled doors, here it is as was
Couldn’t do much today but I sat and painted the loafs, something to entertain myself
Guess I will cook some spaghetti seeing i made the sauce
Have to let cool before bagging it.
Linda sending you and Todd positive thoughts and prayers. I was Warren's primary caregiver - our choice and like you wouldn't have had it any other way. A Rotti owner friend was telling me this morning her Rott has a low magnesium count and the vet suggested he eat bananas. Her dog hates them so she is hiding pieces of banana in pieces of cheese and meat.
Zeke had a hike today with Jen and Piper. I was able to get Chaos out for a small walk while Zeke was gone. I can really feel that I haven't been walking and exercising for a few weeks. Chaos just gets so upset when Zeke goes off and he doesn't. Just like kids !
Gave the washer and dryer a real workout today. All caught up now. I even managed to get all the heavy blankets and the TH's bedding washed and dried. Oh the dog hair !!
Betty did Greg find snow when he went on his trip? Was it in northern Quebec or the east coast where he went ?
Deb hope you will be able to buy that quilt - it's a beauty.
Hardly slept last night so hopefully the sandman will find me tonight.
Linda Kay - ocntinued prayers for you & Todd. Glad to hear that he's gaining weight.
Love that heart quilt.
I found a pattern I printed a long time ago - Scrappy Sister's Choice quilt. I may make 2 & send to my 2 remaining sisters.
Betty - are you going to put the glass back in the cabinet?
I have 5 of the 12 blocks handquilted on the Maple Leaf Heart quilt. My fingertips are starting to hurt. I have some "thumblets" somewhere that would help, but guess using my pliers will help.

Dianne, this time Greg went about 60 miles north of Sudbury, he was coming home tonight so i will call tomorrow but am sure they all enjoyed and had good weather.
Sandman can’t be in 2 places tonight so hope he drops off at your house, you need him more than i. Wow you overdid and will be sorry tomorrow. Yep, our furries are just like kids, get jealous.
Think Susan you had best stop quilting and let your fingers heal.
Great scrap use, Lordy we would have to live to 100 and still not use up our scraps.
That is a great design..i bought a quilt magazine on using scraps, think it’s from same designer??have to look
Yes, glass and the wood scroll will remain
Ziggy is laying next to me, think he is trying to tell me it’s bedtime.
Thank you all for the support and prayers.
Amazing how much dog hair you can accumulate in the house.
Dusan, I like that pattern. Very pretty.
Betty, what is in the bread pans? Why are you painting them?
Linda, that is fabulous news and continued prayers from all of us.I LOVE that quilt pattern.
Susan, THAT would certainly be a scrap buster quilt!
A "service project" is any project that is taken on by the church to benefit another person or group. Many times, that is another church member but it can also be a group in need. Like when our women did the flannel sleep pants for the teen shelter. This particular family, the wife suffers from severe depression and husband has physical and mental health issues, they have an autistic teen. 2 years ago the male teens put up the chain link fence I needed before Adam & Andrea moved in.
The bookcase painted white gives it a fresh new look, I LIKE it! The combination and white and dark is very trendy. I have put a patterned fabric on inside of a bookcase in the back and really liked that as well. The fabric thing is no longer popular, but I might do it again anyhow!
After church Stanley and I napped off and on for 5 hours! I did a little reading. I think if I want sleep tonight, I am going to have to give the Sandman a little "help" with my prescription sleep meds.
The longarm seems to like "Glide" thread but doesn't tolerate "Wonderfil" unless it is in the bobbin only. I trimmed the quilt and then cut binders tonight but I hate to disturb Stanley, He is sleeping inside the folded quilt.
"sleeping inside the folded quilt" hahaha funny Stanley
