It is, what it is. No gas stations or truck stops nearby where I could walk to and that means they would have to drive me somewhere.
Apparently Susan's viewing was on Friday, and she was cremated yesterday. The viewing was so that a relative in Mississippi could be there. Amy will be picking up the urn tomorrow.
Best/worse and what did I learn today…a place for all, come join in
Talked to title company today. I guess all is sorted out and they are giving us a choice to close early so we can get the hell out of Dodge.
Does that mean the mortgage was approved?
And rearrange all the help & loading etc a 3rd time! LOL....
We can keep with the current schedule. Hoping we can head north on Wednesday the 19th.
Storm warning today, heavy rains, winds to come by noon.. guess i will be watching the sump pump again..each season brings problems of their own don’t they.
I’m so glad things are coming together Karen, you will be on pins and needles until next Wednesday..will you e ably to move into your new home as soon as you get there or will you have to stay with kids for awhile?
Bet Susan you sure are counting sleeps before coming home…nothing like being home and especially this time.
Today is a ouch day, just got up, got a pillow/blanket, made a coffee, took a migraine excedrin capsule and won’t do much more that today. I so sympathize with Dianne with her attacks of vertigo.. wash having a bath and the tub was swirling..
Home you all have a wonderful day
Just love it Lindakay, beautiful fall quilt. Bet you don’t get a lot of those colours 8n your region? Great work on the border..it’s quite the size isn’t it?
Bet you miss quilting on the long arm..
I hope you are doing better now Betty. I can only imagine the worries about the sump pump, that just isn't a "thing" in this area.
Linda, nicely done on the quilt! How are you quilting your tops now?
My Ineedfabric order finally came yesterday. It was ordered 9/6 and they charged the card immediately. Most of the panels were acceptable, the biggest one was not. I have asked them to refund or reprint & send a new one. I am disappointed, of course THAT is the one I had planned to do first since I thought it would be perfect to hang for Thanksgiving. Oh well.
The panel is NOT a clean, crisp print. It is out of focus and "fuzzy". The picture included is what the panel looks like compared to a proper print that I got on other panels.
This message was edited Oct 13, 2022 1:01 AM
Sure can understand Pat why you’d be disappointed getting a panel with unfocused lettering and design, know it’s not that you want your money back you want another panel that’s nice and clear and that you had your heart set on.
Linda Kay, is Todd gaining strength and putting weight on or is he losing and sleeping most of the time, so worrisome glad you have your Sewing to fill-in part of the day!
I’m beginning to know why women pass away or are seen as always seeking medical attention. With having the feeling of vertigo, then pain in the left arm, the sweats one would think I was having a heart attack, all symptoms. But then you sit and think oh it’s just dizziness I’ve been busy for the last few weeks, I always get a pain in my left arm part of my shoulder problem, sweating? Yikes the furnace was at 74 so would never think of going to a hospital to have it checked out..should be another way to home check it.
Looked at weather station, can see storm will hit us around 8-midnight. So far i haven’t heard it start… wind sure is picking up
Tome for meds and sleep
We have very little color here. I kiss watching the trees change.
Todd has gained 7 pounds the past 2 weeks. We were both pleased to seethe scale numbers go up. He is still tired, because of the chemo pills.
Quilt is 72x76. Quilt tops are being stored in a tub till I can get back to the longarm.
Linda, so glad to hear Todd is gaining weight.
Probably shouldn't say out loud but moving plans are back on track.
Karen, I understand not wanting to jinx it!
Betty, it is NOT easy to know when to seek medical help!
I met with Kevin & Gloria by video chat & finalized the flowers. I had the bouquets, boutonnieres & corsages ready for approval and some suggestions on centerpieces. We got all that hammered out. I will finish ALL the flowers I will meet them 1/2 way on Sunday to deliver it all. I just feel better having it done & THERE, in case we get an ice storm & I can't make it. When I lived in Porland we always had worse weather at Thanksgiving than Christmas.
Afternoon,
Feeling better together, just eyes not focusing so watching when I move.
I’ll pretend i didn’t hear you Karen about being back on track so i don’t jinx it, so happy for you..counting the sleeps with you.
That is wonderful news Lindakay..scale is going in the right direction. How much longer before his treatment is over? Where are you putting your fall quilt..quite a size.
Deb, please tell us about your dog show.
Pat, that is quite the plan, you just never know about the weather so kudos to you for thinking ahead. Sure hope you take a photo before they are delivered.
Sat and bagged kits for the young ones for Witch hat class…have 2 classes tonight
4-6pm
6-8pm
Last night got more calls wanting classes, heck i did not want a full time job but maybe it’s a trend then I will not have any so will take advantage.
Before Covid and for about 20 years i had about 5 gals from 100 miles away who came and did a Xmas craft..they want to come before First weekend in Nov…will have to see
Going to take a pill for migraine, nap for an hour then hope all ok for the classes.
Well Betty if they come for the week-end. Then you are having a retreat. Could be another profitable venture.
Tying up loose ends and finishing packing. Taking a bit off tomorrow to have lunch with sis and BIL. I know she's not happy we are leaving but understands we need to go.
I have all my quilts in huge plastic tubs. Guess they will come in handy if I need a gift for someone. Or donate some.
Good luck packing and moving Karen. Do you have a home in Michigan lined up? What city?
Linda, we are going back to Warren. Kind of thew center of where all my family are.
That is really wonderful Karen. I wished my kids lived closer. Kevin moved to Portland & Dana is in Sumner, both are about 4 hours away. At least 4 hours is doable, Clayton is in China & has been over 8 years.
It will be nice to be back home.
Morning all, still morning right?? Was up early..
Keep telling Marie NOT to rake because I have someone coming to do the leaves but there she is outside raking and bagging leaves.
Karen, will you be in same town or near to where you lived before? Now see,Nigel’s want to go to Frankenmuth once more, maybe get to see you again.
Barrie at a standstill as the 2 area Innisfil Policemen on their way to funeral home..RIP
All loss is sad, some more than others.
Marie's SIL Donzella offered to stay with Phil one last time before they leave for Arizona. Marie will call Prosser and see if we can get 2 nights next week. I think more than anything she wants 2 nights of non-interrupted sleep and sleep in as late as she wants not having to perform the nursing duties.
Who passed away Betty?
The show last week was really nice. It was at a Holiday Inn in Wilmington, Ohio that is geared toward dog shows. There is a big dog park on the grounds, and they have all the obedience and agility equipment that's needed for those events, and then main "ballroom" is huge, and has a big carpeted ring set up. I got to catch up with a bunch of folks I haven't seen since last year. There was an art auction, and the awards dinner. The time seemed to just fly by. Betty, Sharon may be familiar with shows at the Roberts Center, as it is called.
Tomorrow morning I head out to Nebraska with the rescue girl I've been fostering. Her new owner is driving 500 miles east, I'm driving 500 miles west, and we're hoping to meet at a rest area in the middle!! It will be interesting, if it actually works. She's very sweet, but, my household is hectic enough. We had hoped to get help from Pilots n Paws, where private pilots donate their time flying rescue dogs, but, it was too far, and we couldn't find a pilot that could do the final leg of the trip. She's been passed around too much, this will be her fourth home since March. I hope this is her last.
Praying this is her final and permanent home. Please drive safely.
Good morning everyone.
Thank you Deb for taking such good care of the little girl you have visiting. Sure hope this will be her forever home that she is going to live with. Happy to read you had a great time.
Not much going on here. I think today I can finally start blowing the leaves away from the house. There are still lots of leaves on the trees but I am chomping at the bit to get going.
Betty how are you feeling this morning ? Do you enjoy giving the classes?
Glad to read Todd is doing better and you are getting back into sewing.
Zeke the little stinker chewed on some trim. I didn't hear him. Anyway I will just get some white paint and cover it up until Spring. He's growing like a bad weed. He is already as tall as Chaos and is just 6 months. Yesterday when we were walking he ran, jumped and cleared Chaos with no problem.
Has anyone heard from Judy or Liz?
Susan are you home now ? I hope you left your suitcase outside. I bet you are taking lots of showers and baths. I am so sorry your trip didn't go as planned. Did you know your friend was living in these conditions ?
Two police officers were killed in the line of duty just north of Toronto. They were called to a domestic disturbance which the authorities now think it was a hoax to get the cops there. It is very sad. One officer had 30 years in and was due to retire in a few months. The second officer was just 36 and had 2 children. I think they also reported he and his wife were expecting a third child.
So the procession of cars Betty posted was their bodies being returned after an autopsy in Toronto to their hometown. All emergency personnel including firemen, EMTs, off duty police line the route to show their respect.
It is all very sad. Just shaking my head.
Dianne - no, I didn't know her living conditions. If I had, I would have given up the price of the airfare, I think. Maybe not, but I wouldn't have stayed at their place if I could have helped it.
I'm still here, in GA. The shower is in a separate room & I frankly stay in a few rooms, the living room, kitchen & bathroom. I have "birdy baths" in the bathroom sink & use the disinfectant wipes as much as I can. I also sit outside in the fresh air as much as possible. Today I saw a roach that was 2" x 1/2 wide..... dead, thank goodness. The roach bait is everywhere, and they're decreasing during the day. I use bleach & water mix & spray everywhere I can. I spray underneath the couch I sleep on...... Apparently they don't bite, or bother sleeping people, but also apparently if you see a lot during the day it multiplies at night because they're nocturnal. ewwwwww. Leaving Tues...............
Final packing push. Truck coming on Monday night. Loaders on Tuesday. Grandson flying in Tuesday night. Wednesday we are off....headed north. Closing Friday, Unloading Saturday. Most likely chaos for a few days after that. Just to add to the fun, getting all new appliances delivered Saturday also. Then some of my guys can help get them hooked up. Wheeeeeee
Sorry to hear about the police officers.
A lot of them are being killed in the U.S. also. 8 just this past week.
Good luck with the move Karen.
Oh Karen! That is sooooo exciting. I once found a card that I loved. On the outside "I hope you find much happiness in your new home." Then on the inside, a picture of boxes & packing paper and all the normal mess from unpacked "because that is ALL you are going to find for a while!"
I have always heard that domestic violence calls are some of the riskiest for the police. High emotions and BOTH people can turn on them. However, it certainly sounds like these unfortunate officers were set up. What a devastating loss for the families.
Debbie, the facilities sound awesome. A friend of mine made a quilt with embroideried dogs that was auctioned at one of the shows.
Dianne, sounds like both of our stinkers were in trouble this week. I could NOT keep Stanley away from the silk flowers I was arranging.
Susan, you will be home to your own safe, clean, bug free home soon!
Linda, I am praying things continue to get better for you & Todd.
I have lots to do before tomorrow so I best get on it. I have some things I need to do to finish the wedding flowers , I need to get a soft waist band sewn on the tulle skirt for dress up fun for Karina etc, etc. I am looking forward to dinner & delivery tomorrow.
Those poor police officers' families....!! To be so close to retirement and the other to have a 3rd on the way..... Life was still to be lived.
We had the same thing happen here this week. Domestic call and the young man involved shot a Las Vegas Metro police office, 6 months away from retirement and his mother-in-law. He had modified his regular gun to rapid fire and was using armor piercing bullets. Shooter was 23 and was captured about 1/2 hour later. The world has gone crazy.
I had the wedding and reception here yesterday and my taxes are done and the check is off to the Treasury Department to waste. So now I can start embroidering the place mats I found that looked like they needed to be embroider. Have not done embroider in years but I do not think it is anything you forget.
We are in the mid 80s and mid 60s as our low. Betty it shows your area is going to get rain for the majority of the week.
My snap peas are up and growing. Broccoli has sprouted but that is about all it has done. I have spring flowers being delivered some time next week so that will take a few days to plant. Also do two bowls for a sick neighbor. I have two long term neighbors and they are both very ill. And they are not going to get any better. The wife of the gentleman, across the street, says I have been a God sent because of sll I have told her and how to handle it. Learned from experience. No sense not to pass it along. Also gave her Vern's bibs. Told her they were shirt covers.
I got my second shingle shot Tuesday. No after effects except big red sore spot on my left arm.
Betty, you are such a blessing to your town's children. Children are just bright sun beams and such a blessing to have around. Looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Dianne, my two schnauzers were chewing on legs of some expensive chairs. They had a play pen that they were suppose to be contained if we were out of the house. Not known to us, they could move the wire pen over beside the chairs and chew on the legs. Didn't know until they got old enough to no longer need the pens. My sister had a cat destroy all the carpet in front of a closed bedroom door. Door closed to keep cat out and that cat showed her.
Karen, I am still sending you blessing on your move. Blessings that all will go smoothly and as planned. How exciting for you. This is your second move with us.
Susan, I am so sorry you had to find your friend's home is such disarray. God bless you for trying to help. All you can do is try and thank the Lord you can go home to your wonderful home.
Linda, so pleased Todd is gaining weight. Did you call your insurance commissioner. I sure there is a rule about how far you have to travel before your insurance has to accept who is closer by.
Pat, you are a blessing to your sister. I understand. My best time was when I laid down on my bed ready to go to sleep. I slept with one ear open like you do with a baby. But Vern didn't wake up much during the night. By the time I laid down in bed, I was so tired and it felt so good to be off my feet.
You all have a wonderful Sunday. Going to daughter's again for Sunday dinner. We are all kicking in to help pay for the meal, especially the meat. Time for Emma and I take our afternoon walk and then settle down to some Masterpiece Theater on PBS.
I do want to go see the George Clooney, Julie Roberts movie. Looks like it will be a fun movie. I have not been to a movie theater probably close to 5 years. Saw "The Help". I think that is the last one I went to. Wish you guys were here and we could all go together.
Sharon. I did talk to our insurance company. They said if we don't use a doctor in our network, we will pay cash for it. If we can't find a doctor by Friday within a decent drive, we can't get anymore chemo pills. Pretty sad.
Thank you Sharon. This will be our last move. Just figured it up, this will be 22 moves for me in my lifetime.

Morning, dark as night, was up since 5:30
Just read about your week, want to respond, worked on painting witch hats till 10:30.
Morning sewing classes went well, off to midland..picked up 2 more witch hats just incase i missed a child,
Have my coffee made, heading downstairs to get tables ready..always worry about dropping the machines.
Drats, hate hearing shots, duck season on..
I will drop in once the kids leave to respond to your posts
Best I get a move on
Enjoy your day and wish me luck
Can't wait to see photos of todays workshop.
good luck, Betty :)
Good luck, I am sure you will have a workshop full of happy kids SOOOO proud of their creation!
I was up until midnight finishing last touches on flowers. Up at 8 to make 2 neck wraps for the shoulder portion of the seat belts. My neck is so sensitive to ANYthing rubbing. Made 2, one for passenger. Then made a neck roll to secure to back of car seat to support my neck better. I hate the way the back of the head rests is angled forward, that is NOT comfortable. I have one for my side and a different one that is not yet covered properly but functional I hope for Marie's. We head to The Dalles today to delivery flowers, plates, forks, napkins & glasses. I will feel better when they have everything I am to provide "just in case".
Later all! Have a beautiful day, its sunny here and cool. It should be a spectacular day outside.
Love the colours Lindakay, striking ..that yellow/orange mixed with black makes the squares just pop out, you certainly are a quick quilt maker, are you sewing day and night?
6PM, someone is thinking bedtime but not before a hot bath.
Classes were full, thank goodness for my helpers..
Morning kids had left when I remembered no photo’s but I believe some moms took photo’s, hoping they send them to me?
Afternoon class was overloaded but saved me having yet another next week so we squeezed a tad and enjoyed..na couple of girls had mishaps with glue but were warrior and went on with their class.
Class ended at 4, my niece Arianna had called to see if I could help her with a project for after class for 1 1/2 hrs later she went home with 2 pumpkins
Hot bath waiting
