Best/worse and what did I learn today…a place for all, come join in

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I got a couple of loaders hired today. That's a big worry off my mind.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

The hearts were not my idea. My former SIL was going to do them. I asked if there was ANYTHING I could do to help. She asked if I would do a few hearts. I told her I was willing to do ALL the hearts. She still wanted to do a few with granddaughters.

David, my nephew who died, told his mom 16 years ago when I divorced his uncle, that "Pat would ALWAYS be Aunt Pat" and "if ANYONE gave me hard time to tell him!" He was always such a sweet guy. He was the same age as my oldest. The family really hasn't bonded with his 2nd wife.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Pat - how sweet that you remained Aunt Pat to him.
Betty - it was just me rushing from one lane to another and getting tired after 6 games (3 on one lane, 3 on another at the same time). That's when I slipped. I don't normally do that, but I knew that we were the last bowlers of the day & the manager wanted to be able to go home.
Yes, 2 more sleeps. I keep thinking "it must be a mistake, she'll greet me when I arrive" but I know she won't. It'll be a week by the time I get there. I think, seeing her room without her in it, will be closure for me.
I'm finishing up a prayer shawl for her daughter Amy (sewing on the label). I'll get some Saskatoon berry jam for her son-in-law, a dragon statue for the grandkids, and another one for her son. She did love her dragons, and that's how I met her - her son was playing Dragons of Atlantis, she joined him, we were introduced.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That's a lot of work on those pies Betty. They look delicious.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Siiiigh. Just when we had all our ducks in a row, those little suckers cut loose and are running amok. Closing is on about a one week delay. Had to delay truck, driver, loaders and unloaders. Sheesh!

Victoria Harbour, ON

How come Karen?
Thanks Lindakay
Just got back, am cooking dinner tomorrow so need some rest, putting turkey on low and will set my timer
Very cold here, fingers are numb

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear that Karen.
Betty, time to get the fireplace burning.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

That's pretty cold, Betty - I agree, time to put the fireplace a-going.
Well, I have to leave in about 4 1/2 hours, and couldn't sleep.
Got an invitation to a Thanksgiving dinner - yummmmy! Dianne thought I was going to get a hotel in Calgary, near the airport & take a shuttle. Couldn't afford that, so I'll drive to Calgary, park at a friend's & he'll drive me to the airport. This trip is expensive enough without adding the cost of hotels lol
It was a lovely dinner with her family. I knew all, except the new husband of Dianne's granddaughter. He was a very nice young man.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Couldn't sleep, so may as well stay up until time to leave. One hour drive into Calgary, then a ride to the airport. Fly out at 9:55. Have to be there 2 1/2 hours before. I'm going to be much earlier, but I have my laptop & a good book & my coffee.

Safe travels Susan, have a good visit.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty I've had my pretty quilt hanging over the balcony rail. Yesterday I took them down to pack but last night it got so chilly, it was the perfect thing to wrap up in. Gave me a hug from you.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Got home from the show last night. So much to catch up on.

Sorry to hear about your delay, Karen. Hope it's all smooth sailing from here on out.
Those kids will always remember their time doing crafts and learning to sew with you, Betty. You are such a treasure to your community.

Every time i cook a big meal i am one pot 7kg pot short so bought it, had the kayak sg enlarged,.bought a lot of my next workshop decorations..forgot litter, cat food, black spray, tarp for umbrellas, too wet to put them down for winter, they need to be good and dry .. guess another trip tomorrow.

Mom went to Sharon’s early this morning.

Guess Susan is on the plane, hope all goes well for her..d family will be in shock.

Debbie, am anxious to hear about the dog show..

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Jen, Kieran's mom brought down enough food to last for at least 3 meals - even pie. I told her I wasn't going to come up yesterday for the meal as Jen and Jim both had covid. I just can't take a chance.

Zeke went up the lane with Jen and she, her DH and DD took a long walk into the bush. Hailey was home from university and wanted to see Zeke.

Stay safe and well. And Betty let people help you put out and take back dishes.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful foliage Betty. What is the red bush?
Susan, enjoy your trip. Praying you have no airport problems.
Karen, there is nothing like snuggling in handmade quilt.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

You are more controlled than me Betty. If I had one roll I would have had many more smothered with butter, hot right out of the oven. They are beautiful rolls. Betty that fall color photo should win you another photo win.

We are in the mid 80s and I will take that all day. I woke up at 8:30 and laid in bed until 10. Just did not want to get up and face the world. Made the mistake of watching the news.

Susan have a wonderful trip. God bless you and her family. Please be safe.

Karen, so sad about the delay.

Linda, it amazes me that New York is calling a crisis because they got a few bus loads of immigrants. They should come visit your area. I am still astonished that is still being allowed to happen every day, just walking into the United States.

Dianne, your neighbors were so nice to bring you dinner and then take Zeke for a walk. Such wonderful neighbors. I have the same problem. When neighbors bring me food, it is enough for an army. I still have not learned how to make a smaller batch of anything. Good thing I do not mind left overs. I am so looking forward to soup weather. One of my favorite meals.

Sorry this is so short but in kind of a funk. Hugs to all of you.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I spent the Saturday with Marie finishing up her granddaughter's costume. When I left we were down to letting the glue cure/dry on the rhinestones on her belt. I had plans to go with Marie to movies after church today, but Phil is NOT doing well at all. Yesterday he was really on a coughing jag, the worst he has ever been (per his report).

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm here, safe & sound, in GA. Staying with the family. Enjoying some time with them.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the update Susan. Glad you arrived safely.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

So glad to hear it Susan, enjoy your time with her family.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

This is what my new door & wall hanging look like "installed." I still need to paint the door as it is only primed. I am really happy with the overall look and what it accomplished. Pics from opposite ends of the hall.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

"Roasting duck", no doubt!! That would be the inclination alright!

Thanks Linda, I was pleased with the look.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying all those ducks mind thier manners.
Betty, praying your not too sore tomorrow. Praying you get some sleep tonight.

Susan, how is it going?

Karen, the slowdown wasn’t because oh house inspection was it?

Any news Lindakay on Todd’s appointment

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

It's going ok. I'm helping by cleaning the house. Unfortunately they do not clean anything, and have a bad infestation of roaches. Washed the coffeepot (I'm the only one drinking coffee), and the deep fryer. Neither look like they've been cleaned for a year. Amy assures me that it's ok, cuz I told her I can't help with the legal stuff, can't help her husband at work (construction) and the kids are on break. She knew from her mom that I don't sit still, and she says she's ok with it.
The roaches swarm all over the place. Grossing me out, but I'm here & it is what it is. I suggested some diatemaceous earth (food grade) and I've been paying for what I could here. Amy's gone to be with her husband at work & the 3 kids are in their bedrooms. It's "understood" that if I want anything to eat, I get it myself, and they eat dinner together. Because of the Thanksgiving dinner I made yesterday, there's a lot of turkey left over, so I'm eating a sandwich now, and drinking coffee. I can't have a shower, because the idea just grosses me out further.
I wish I could have afforded a hotel, but it's too late to do that, simply because I only have 2 days' worth of hotel with my Airmiles, and I don't want to be rude & hurt their feelings by changing plans to stay at a hotel.
Her son, Josh, was to have picked me up at the airport, but couldn't so I took a taxi here. Amy says that Josh will likely come to see me on the weekend. He IS the one who introduced us, after all. He's engaged to be married in May.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

l Ouch at the cost of a taxi. I am sorry that a motel is not an option. The idea of roaches would creep me out totally. Sounds like your help will be necessay!!

Sorry to hear you are struggling Betty
-

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty slow down was because Buyers are having trouble obtaining mortgage. We had been told in the beginning they were pre approved. Seems that wasn't the case.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, praying you are feeling better soon..
Susan. Those bugs creep me out to no end. I would go out buy buy lots oof bug spray to try and control them. You are stronger than I am.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg, omg Susan, is this the house that Susan lived in? Surely she wouldn’t have invited you knowing their were roaches..nope, wouldn’t be eating, drinking or bathing, is there a variety store or gas station nearby that you could walk to for washroom purposes..also if gas station is a truck stop usually the have showers for a minimal cost… this truly has been a nightmare. Could you not see if perhaps you can move your flight sooner? Shaking my head..you will have to leave all your belongings outside when you get home because if you don’t you will have an infestation..

Oh yikes Karen, doesn’t sound good, what if they can’t get funding, can’t you get out of the other place? Shouldn’t realtor have checked on funding part? Praying hard

Just having a bite to eat then bed..here is hoping tomorrow I won’t be as light headed..I’ve such a busy week that i certainly don’t need to be sick
