Sounds like you had a great time Pat. Please post photos when you can.
Not much going on here. Hubby still isn't up to traveling unless it's lab work. He gets tired really easy.. but slowly getting his strength back.
It was raining when I woke at 8, and supposed to have scattered showers all day and tomorrow. 73 this morning feels good.
Best/Worse/what did I learn Today? Come sit awhile and share you day..newcomers always welcome!
Happy you have rain Lindakay, think it would have to rain a week or so for your gardens to benefit.
I have the area near pond that i can never grow grass, it’s underneath the trio umbrella so I’m going to watch for after summer sales for that good imitation roll of grass, think it would do the trick
Glad apTodd is getting stronger, slowly is better, small steps
Had Ezra and Brianna this morning..won’t forget to double appts again I will tell you.
Mom is at Sharon’s today..Bernie visited her there..he hasn’t seen her since her 90th birthday last September. Am sure she will be back for supper. Might have a nap.
She says she is going home tomorrow
No, this is was not a "workshop" or anything, just the 2 of us!!! A friend joined us part of one day. The rates are $60 per night, per person & a "day only" is $25. So all together it was $425. that isW what we use our yardsale & marketplace money for.
There is an Edge to Edge Prostitcher class being taught this Thursday night in Walla Walla that Marie & I both signed up for. She is a professional that teaches the short cuts & tips for this program & we look forward to it. Only an hour away & at $50 per person, it's doable.
The 3 chairs: 1 was SPECTACULAR!!! We liked it so much we brought it home for Marie's sewing room & started looking for another 1 or 2 to buy at full price. 1 of the others was "good" & the 3rd, I am not sure if it will be better once we lowered it, I had trouble with getting it lower & it pushed against our short fat legs! All in all WELL worth the $35 we spent on ALL 3 chairs!
Linda, glad to hear that Todd continues to improve.
Susan, happy to hear your camping trip was a joy. I sure can't blame you for wanting Bob to get that wretched RV off of YOUR property! Good riddance to him & all his stuff. I hope someday you can focus on the good years you had before he went off his rocker. You were very happy for a number of years, please don't lose sight of those good memories.
Betty, I don't have 1 single bloom in my yard. What the freeze didn't kill 2 years ago, this summers hot killed the rest. I didn't replace my roses, due to the cost of roses and other plants. Like everything else this year, they were very pricey.
Next spring I will start looking for them again.
Good morning everyone.
It is supposed to be in the 80's again today but the humidity isn't as bad as it was during the last heat wave.
Not much going on here. The TH are enjoying this weather. Zeke doesn't like the water like Kai did. He will get his 4 paws covered with water but that is it.
Zeke sees the vet on Sunday morning for his first checkup since he came to me. This is a new vet practice for me that I am trying out but it sounds pricey already. Zeke and I tried to go yesterday but ended up coming home with no visit. I couldn't find the place and of course I forgot to take my cell. I found out it was in a strip mall with no signage and Google directions are not very good.
LK I am happy to read Todd continues to improve. Sending positive thoughts your way.
Oh Susan you will be so happy to see the hind end of that trailer. Glad you enjoyed your camping excursion.
Betty how did the penguins turn out ? Your mother and mine are so alike it is scary. I sure understand what you go through with her. My mother told me everyday in front of people too that she brought the wrong baby home from the hospital.
My DB turned 84 yesterday. Sadly his twin my sister had a heavenly birthday. I miss her.
I need to get moving. Have a great day.
Always makes me jealous when I read of people who have or had loving mothers. I did at least have a grandmother and Aunt who loved me. Still have my aunt and I cherish her.
The older I get, the MORE appreciate my Mom & Dad, my extended family AND especially my sister.
I took on a paying job to shorten a VERY full dance skirt with huge ruffle on the bottom. The only viable way to shorten it was to remove the waistband, cut off excess length & reset the waistband. I will deliver that today along with about a 100 other errands. Lots to do so best I get on it.
Pat, I hope you have a ruffker attachment on your machine. That job will be so much easier.
i DO have a gathering foot but the amount of gathering was beyond what any ruffler could accomplish! Fortunately, I have a GREAT Basting option that tweaks the tension so it's easy to gather & remove afterwards. 2 rows of that & I'm good.
Still working on errands.
Bedtime, there went Tuesday..
Pat i have the same feature..i use button thread when i do it so when I am more likely not to break the thread
I too was lucky to be raised by my grandparents, mom was an Angel this visit, she kept telling me her nerves were so bad, had to have a friend stay with her overnight, didn’t ask why.
Those of you that have had same type of mom, doesn’t it make you sad when you watch family shows and see the live and caring we have missed, sad even at our age..
Dianne, did you get any of these rain they called for today? No rain but lots of rumbling. As for the penguins, still have the eyes to do on the wee one and polishing..still not sure I like it. That is the pitz Dianne, doubt there are any reasonable vets around.
Linda how sad for you, your roses were so beautiful..so many of my flowers are late summer blooms, got to start buying midsummer plants.
How is the couch situation Susan, we’re you able to find someone to take it to the landfill?
What a busy day, mom was here, then Pat and June, Marie then Sharon dropped in,.. made a trip to Greg’s to measure his window, it’s in 2 parts so I will make 2 panels..now i measured size on paper it looks so big, think i will run over tomorrow and measure again..made a few calls then Bethany, lady from Honey Harbour came and did a hooded towel..thinking of making a hot chocolate and head to bed, should put marshmallow on my grocery list
When I had heavy gathering to do, I used a heavy thread called Gimp. I'm sure button thread would work as well. I have a foot with a hole front to back. I feed the gimp through and zig zag over it. The hole kept the gimp from being caught by the needle. Very easy to gather then.
Spent quite a while in the basement packing up my sewing room. Got maybe a fifth of it done. With all the rest gone, I can turn the air completely off so it was quite comfy for me down there. I can see already I will need more tote tubs for packing.
Karen, have you sold your home yet?
I'm going to GA in October!! I booked my flight, ordered my passport (it will arrive the end of Aug/beginning of Sept!) I have Dianne to look after Pixie & my fish (will take them to her place), and all I need to do is drive to Calgary, get a taxi to the airport, and park my car at a friend's who lives near the airport. They don't have a car or I know they'd give me a ride.
The couch is being picked up in a few minutes, to go to the dump!
It was a busy day yesterday - 1 1/2 hours drive to the passport office in Calgary, same return, and only 45 min wait to see the passport officer & pay for a 10 yr passport. Then to my Tuesday Social group, then drive to Olds for cribbage with Dianne. So, from 9am to 10pm it was run, run, run. lol looks good on me, but really tired today.
the couch is GONE :)
Hurrah Susan on both accounts, your going south in October and getting rid of the couch. I assume you are going to Susan’s this year? Going to be so nice for you, too bad it wasn’t 8n the winter so you would get away from snow.
I didn’t see you post Karen that you sold your place, if you haven’t it’s still good to get ahead of the game and get all packed up.
Calling this short, no rain but thunder and lightning, rather have the rain. Kathy called a few minutes ago and said it rained quite a bit this morning, ‘now I was downstairs from 9-noon then 1::00-3:00 with the sewing kids, never hear it but also didn’t see a hint of rain..
Tired, the lady who is suppose to call me to do her bankruptcy at 4 hasn’t called yet, sure hope not her time in California lol
Well I am alive, well and now 80 years old. Had about a 3 weeks celebration. Started out with a slight cold which turned into Covid. If I had not tested, I would have thought I had a cold. Then I gave Covid to my garden helper so we were really behind the 8 ball with the landscaping. But it was a wonderful party week and majority of relatives showed up. Me being the eldest and probably wisest is a big thing. I ate things I have not eaten in years but only gained 4 pounds. Back on the straight and narrow.
I have cut back my tomatoes hoping for a winter crop. August has been unbelievable. Cooler temps and cloudy. Rain but this is the desert, so when it rain, it floods. We just got a flash flood warning on my phone except it is far from me. But I am getting the clouds, which cools things off.
Vern's son is still living with me and will probably be here another year. We have filed a complaint with the Real Estate division of the state. Need to do that and go through mediation, before we can sue. I have been on our HOA for 20 years and ours is run very well. The HOA I am dealing with are clueless and totally inept.
So much I am behind on with all of you. I will get on here now that the big party is over.
Betty, Death Valley had a rain storm of 1,000 years. Trapped over 1,000 people for a day and washed out roads going both ways and buried a bunch of cars in mud. Thankfully no one was hurt. If they had tried to leave, they would probably have not survived.
When we had the previous contract on the house, we did quite a bit of packing. When it fell through, we quit packing. The only reason I'm packing now is usually the basement is kept so cold I cannot spend but a few minutes there. With everyone else gone, we turned the air right off. Ran out of totes so went and got a few more. Then sis called and said I have a lot of totes in the garage. We are meeting for lunch tomorrow and they will bring them then.. I'll still have a couple packing days before the rest are back. Should be able to get most of the basement done. My part of it anyway.
Hopefully you will get another offer soon Karen. Always nice to get ahead of the packing game.
Susan, so glad to hear you will be traveling soon.
another hurrah on my trip - I'm parking my car at another friend's place and he'll give me a ride to the airport & pick me up when I'm back. No taxi!! Flight out is 9:55am, and return is 8pm. I'll be able to get home by 9pm'ish that night.. I suppose I have to be at the airport leaving 2 hours ahead for both international trips. He's a fellow I used to be in the choir with, and on the organizing committee for the Robbie Burns' dinners we had at the church in Calgary. Nice fellow.
Awesome to have Good friends to make your life easier.
Susan, that will save you LOTS of money & stress, having a friend take you.
Sharon, sorry to hear you got the Covid & the good news is, recovered. Glad to hear you had lots of celebration for your 80th Bday. Your stepson is a very lucky man to have you in his life.
Karen, I'll bet having the house the temperature YOU need was a welcome relief.
Betty, we can't LOVE all our pieces of art. Sometimes we have to give people what they want in spite of not being what we would have chosen.
My internet has been down for a couple of days, but I finally got it up and running again.
The skirt was delivered Tuesday & she wore it Wednesday at practice. I'll bet she felt safer!! It had to be shortened by 4 inches & she had tripped TWICE before.
I got a little more work done on the longarm, I only have 2 more passes to have Carrie's quilt done.. Marie & I have a class in Walla Walla tonight by a professional out of Spokane. I am VERY hopeful we can learn a LOT more about successfully longarming edge to edge.
Had a quiet day here. Was suppose to have rain but it went around us and fell about 15 miles across town.
My DD, DGD and her two children stopped by for a quick visit. Other DGD and her hubby are stopping by at 5:30 to say hi. Must be day to visit Grandma.
I am still fighting the horn worms on my tomatoes but only found 2 last night.
Pat, sounds like you are really busy with that machine.
Karen, one of the reasons I did not move was I started to pack and arrange items and got totally over whelmed and said, not now, maybe later. I am purging and getting rid of items.
I threatened anyone coming to my birthday celebration, if they brought a present, they would be going home with something in my home I was getting rid of. I did get several a orchid plants and 3 nursery gift certificates. 4 bottles of wine and I do not drink and a bottle of Champagne.
Susan, sounds like you are going to have a nice trip.
I got our my retirement album to put my birthday cards in the back of it and spend over an hour reading many letters employees and customers wrote me. It was fun to remember all of those fun individuals I worked with. Now I need to write thank you letters to many people that went out of their way to make my 80th a great celebration.
Betty, your mom didn't stay very long.
Sharon, the nursery gift cards will get used but wine & champagne, NOT so much!! Oh well. Threatening them with "something from your house" was a GREAT idea!!
My absolute favorite thing that was written in my retirement card was from a co-worker friend. "Obviously you were thinking ONLY of yourself when you decided to retire!"
Marie did not get off to good start today & I was afraid she might not be recovered well enough to go to class today but she did. We were not told to bring our computers with simulation mode on & were disappointed by that but on the whole, I feel we learned a lot and came home & immediately started putting it to use.
I got Carrie's quilt off the longarm, now to do a little clean up on it & start the binding process. I have not decided whether to bind it HERE or wait until I am there & can check it on the bed. I don't want the quilt to touch the floor but I don't want it too short either.
Glad to hear the class was helpful. Can't wait to see some of your quilts.
I have no idea why but it feels like a Saturday to me. I keep track of the days because especially in the winter the days all seem to run together.
The TH are antsy so will have to get them out for a walk soon. There are some large dogs visiting on the lane whose owners are letting run loose. Grrrrr ! That means we will have a leash walk instead of running free. My boys come back when called but I don't trust these other dogs.
I might go fishing later once it starts to cool down. I'll just fish from shore as I am just looking to catch crappies.
Sharon it sounds like you had a wonderful birthday week.
Pat you and Marie are learning a lot of new things. Good for the 2 of you. When you talk about the courses you took or things you tried it always reminds me of Barb. I sure miss her.
What's everybody up to this weekend ? I want to go to the Farmers' Market and hopefully get some tomatoes. They are late coming on this year.
Zeke has his first vet visit on Sunday. He is still fairly timid when faced with new things so that should be a challenge getting him into the office. At least he is still small enough I can pick him up.
Stay safe, well and hydrated.
I thought it was Saturday too. Till hubby said, no, it's Friday.
Be careful walking with the stray dogs out there. Hope you catch some fish.
I was just pulling some fabric to make some flying geese blocks and came across some fabric that Barb had given me. Then I was sorting doll patterns and there were 2 American Girl patterns she had sent me. Must be in the air.... we are thinking of & missing Barb.
I got the bid for the new door from the entry into the North side of the house. Glen can't start for at least a week & that is fine with me. Until Adam, Andrea & I can work out details, there is NO sense in making any modifications to the house. They are proposing renting the North side, and I would not use the kitchen or laundry, we would live completely independently. All utilities are shared so I have said THEY would have to pay ALL the electric bill & I would take water & garbage.
I have NOT made a decision; I am willing to consider it if we can come up with a plan that WORKS. The new door would enable us to both to enter into the house & then into doors into our own side. That would eliminate the "greeting committee" of the dogs that drives me nuts. I would get a hot plate to cook on, do laundry at Marie's while banking a rent check.
Evening, read your posts, would love to comment but my body is done in, I’d be very surprise if i will get yo tomorrow
Still waiting to see if the neck and hip injection meds can be found before Wednesday..
About a week i received a request from Barb to be her friend..think fb should get their act together..miss her as well
Afternoon all, most gorgeous day even though I’ve been inside all day. Did a few
Betty, I think maybe Barb's FB account has been hacked & that someone did not know she had passed.
Sorry to hear that you are in so much pain Betty. Hope you get you injections soon.
I got that same request from Barb. I reported it, then blocked it.
Pat, pretty sad you have to divide your home that way. Praying they can find jobs and move out on their own soon.
It is sad Linda, but it has been much easier on me to NOT see the other side of the house at all.
Betty, are the injections not ordered and ready when they are due? Or do you have request them & hope they are received in time?
Pat, you do what you need to do to keep your sanity.
I haven't gotten a fb request from Barb, but then I don't accept many friend requests anymore, unless I've been told ahead of time.
I'd invited friends over for dinner, but as they're still renovating their home, I'll take dinner to them - Hawaiian Pork, served over rice. They're new'ish people that moved here last fall (snowbirds that go to Arizona for 5 months), and elderly, but boy can he WORK. He's done so much to the home, it's amazing. He's the one who took my couch to the landfill the other day.
Dinner sounds good Susan
Afternoon,
Sitting outside enjoying the day, not moving the best but enjoying the day. Marie was her keeping me company for an hour or so, Linda and Dave came for an hour visit and it time to go get some meds
Went to pharmacy, the first injection med i took for many years was by phizer, not making it anymore, my last injection gave me a good part of my life again, not making it anymore, the other 2 possibilities are on back order so no injection..big sigh
Pharmacist said he would keep it on order but not to get excited about getting it.
He showed me his shelves, much of what kidstake is no longer in production, shelves are bare..he said a lot of his prescriptions can’t be filled
Be back in a bit
Sorry to hear that Betty. There has to be an alternative for those in need.
That is terrible betty, So far I haven't had any difficulty obtaining my prescriptions. The company that provides my Trulicity....at no charge BTW....Mails it to me in a cooler with packets to keep it cold as it must be refrigerated.
That is terrible Betty. We are all not use to seeing empty shelves. If the shelf is not empty then the price has gone up big time. My power bill was $516 this last month. Never been this high and I conserve energy. But it was the month that everyone was here for my birthday and the air conditioning did get a work out. I have 3 units on my home and do not use air conditioning that much, just ceiling fans, but my guests were dying from our heat.
Pat, I am sorry but i think it is outrageous that you will be cooking on a hot plate. you are one giving mother.
Susan, so pleased you got rid of the couch. Got to watch those old people, some of them can work you under the table. Dinner does sound delicious.
My sister has been having a real problem with her neck in constant pain. They did an MRI and said not much they could do. Just old age. I gave her some of my CBD oil a friend gave me for my shoulder. She said it worked wonders and I got her a big bottle before she left town.
My youngest bother is 75 today. I Face-timed him and first time he had been on Facetime. He is in Reno and they had flooding on Thursday so he was helping his neighbors with their parts of the road and their driveways. He has a grader. Another toy he bought himself. They live out of town on acres.
Linda, how is everything in Texas. You people in Texas were left on your own with all of the illegals but now Texas is busing them to New York, they are going to put them into hotels. I personally think the whole world has lost it's mind. No longer a salesman. It is a salesperson. Take a look at the new fashions being shown at fashion shows. Freak clothing. Freak models.
Diane, you amaze me with a brand new puppy. You are amazing. I so want a new puppy to replace Cecil but just cannot bring myself to pull the trigger. I am really afraid it would upset Emma.
I will return. I am watching Virgin River on Netflix. I usually watch PBS but nothing on for the last few weeks but fundraising. I used to donate to PBS but they put their foot into the political arena and I stopped donating. Same as AARP. Boy do I sound like a cranky old lady. .........Hugs everyone.
Oh surely Pat, that arrangement will not happen, that is being a prisoner in your own home..i pray they will find accommodation .
Susan kind of you to bring them supper
Karen, did you have a nice lunch with your sister? Where did the kids go?
What a fantastic gift Sharon, which of us wouldn’t want a nursery gift certificate, bet you know what plant you’ve been eyeing that soon will be in you garden.certainly major problems with that association, he sure is blessed having you helping him out. Are there any more people without housing?
Lindakay how is Todd doing, able to go out on his own?
Dianne batten down the hatches, storm rolling through, be careful
Black outside. How did the vet visit go?
Pharmacist says no, not for the injections I get, pills yes, injection no. So like most of you I will line in pain.
I taped the stained glass I’m doing for Greg & Mel, once it’s done will do the 2nd one that is a match..also rolled out the roll of brown paper and stained the sides with coffee, will wait for a nice day and sit on front veranda and enjoy cutting…likely a waste of time but will keep me occupied.
Lordy talk about rain, people across the road having baseball tournament bbq, hope it stops soon for them.
Omg Grayson turns1 on Friday, both Greg & Mel and Kyle & Destiny have places in the park, many of their friends as well so they had Grayson’s 1st celebration at the park, can’t believe the gifts he got..
