Best/Worse/what did I learn Today? Come sit awhile and share you day..newcomers always welcome!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, light rain today and was a good half of the night…thank goodness for hallmark movies..up at 6:30 as Ziggy was fussing, wanted out. i was no sooner bathed and dressed that he was at the door wanting in, where is he now, laying sleeping on the bed.

Pat heart goes out to family and friends of your friend, so sad..am sure there will be mega tears.

Lovely cookies Karen, she does a lovely job..i have a friend that has a machine and buys sheet in, thin, almost paper thin made of an icing of sort and she does cakes etc with photo’s on them. Would that be similar,? So many neat toys out there, it to get to learn them all.

Lindakay, you asked me why i was cutting up a leather coat..the sleeves and cuffs were really worn but the back and shoulder areas like new, he thought because i use hide for neck warmers and knitted slippers it might come in handy.

Because Caleb is in charge along with a few other taking a group on canoe trip for 50 days there generally is not contact. Braedon works on same so hard to be in contact..know he is back with the group but don’t know if they kept him a few days, won’t know that till first week in September when Jeff picks them up..don’t know if Braedon knows the entire story. I thought the Camp would advise Jeff but when kids are adults guess they don’t. This camp has kids from royalty and movie star families, my grands went from the time they were 6 or 7 and only reason they went is their great grandmother was very wealthy and helped build the camp through donations..know at one point Jeff had to subsidize camp $6k

Feel like it’s nap time but my to do today, well at least till 2:00 should be finishing Grayson’s car Matt as his 1st birthday party is end of month..nothing like putting aside something you started before Christmas, seems such an effort to get back to it.

Drats, had the sky cut out, 1 large piece, can’t find it now, think I cut the next piece of sky out of it grrrr

Hope your day goes well

Debbie, during the night I saw a silly commercial but in it was the most beautiful dog, think same as your breed..i looked it up on internet to get a link for you, must have dozed off..was a food commercial

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, found it in my history

Remember, it’s a silly commercial

Betty, my daughter has done the photo cakes also. A special rice paper is used so it goes through a printer but is edible. Special edible inks nowadays too.
Daughter also works full time and carves out special time with her grands. She has always been an over achiever.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That she is, funny how some can get their act together and others not. She does a wonderful job. Grands must love her treats!

Playing with penguin so i can finally get it done, I’ve tried that baby penguin face 3 times, very intricate..guess i will have to put water in the the saw to do that and cut an inset for beak in the moon..almost noon, where to heck did the morning go?

Marie brought me over tomatoes and cucumbers out of their garden… she knows I love almost green tomatoes with a touch of pink and small cucumbers..perfect so couldn’t resist a sandwich of both

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I do believe those are the type of dog that Deb has. Afghan hounds?
Beautiful cupcakes Karen.
Pat, sending our condolences to you and the family.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How is Todd doing? And of course yourself?
Muggy now that rain has ended but temps is 78, humid

Not liking this stained glass piece, did about 4 pieces and called it quits at least for the day and am a couch potato since..are you all feeling the heat is getting the best of you?

Liz was thinking of you, a few years ago when i was in California with you had to get a jacket, are you experiencing this heat wave?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Tucked in listening to heavy rain
Can’t win, now i will be worried about flooding 😜

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We are both doing good.
Praying you don't get flooded.
Yes, this heat just drains all your energy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

We had heavy rain less than an hour then moved on.
Glad you are feeling better

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I am sure you needed the rain but worrying about flooding you did not need!

The service was beautiful, and I have never seen such a fitting memorial pamphlet (what do you call those?)

Adam is STILL getting swelling in his foot & has gone back to MD, gotten a diuretic & we'll see if it helps. . no clearance for work yet, he has been off over 2 weeks now.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Yes, those are Afghans, my breed. I hadn't heard about anyone with dogs doing a commercial lately.

I had to let my last old man go yesterday. Tyler was 13, and it wasn't unexpected, but that doesn't make it any easier.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear that Deb. Never easy to lose a furry family member.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Deb - sorry you've lost your furry friend. Expected, but still sad nontheless.

Well, my kicked-to-the-curb couch hasn't gone away, and with the morning dew, I don't expect anyone will want it, especially as my friends & neighbours know why it's no longer welcome in my home. I know a couple of neighbours walked over to see it last night, but no one took it overnight so I guess they weren't interested, just curious.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Deb, sorry to hear of the loss of your dog. How many dogs do you still have now?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks for all the kind words. I have 6 dogs at home now. I know that still sounds like a lot, but the loss of one makes a huge difference. I ended up with 4 from that litter, Tyler and Sissy, who I kept, and Dillon who came back to me after he bit his owner, Smash, because his owner died. I knew I would be in for a rough year or so. I lost Smash in the spring of 2021, Sissy in December, Dillon in May, and now Tyler, the last of that generation. I still have 2 Tyler kids, 2 Sissy kids, and 2 of Sissy's grandkids. They keep me busy so I don't dwell on my loss.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Wow Deb, that was a LOT of losses in short span, I am so sorry. I hope you did not think I was minimizing your lost when I asked how many you had. I KNOW the loss of a beloved pet is HUGE, no matter what. Your dogs are soooooo pretty, elegant and just regal. Are any being shown now?

Susan, you will find a solution the love seat disposal. I am just sorry it's not instantaneous!

Marie & I leave town Thursday afternoon & return Sunday afternoon, Prosser quilt retreat Inn again. We are both so excited. Phil's brother will be in town thru Monday morning, he & his wife encouraged Marie to leave & I managed to find opening between other bookings at the Inn. Marilyn (the owner) is really good to us. She waves the 4-person minimum & tries to accommodate us if possible. Considering Marie only told me yesterday about the opportunity to leave, I feel it is indeed a miracle blessing!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm heading out of town tomorrow, to go camping for a couple of days with my friend Dianne. Only 15 min from home, but still, time away :) Both the fish & budgie will be fine. I have food for both of them for vacation time :)

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, good for you!! Time away, is time away. I am grateful Prosser is only an hour away so we don't spend so much time on the ROAD that we don't get to enjoy our time off. Sounds like your 15 minutes away serves the same purpose!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, sunny, feels like a fall day, guess it’s because of drop in the heat/humidity.

Heart goes out to you Deb, so many losses, overwhelming i am sure, having some ,of their offsprings will help. Sharon got back early this morning, wasn’t looking forward to seeing the dogs (3) but is worrying about how she will feel with no Inuk in the house…she said more crying than anything this trip.

Pat,do you and Marie go simply to work on or finish your own projects or are there workshops, learning new techniques?

Good for you Susan, getting away for a few days will do wonders for you.will you be using your RV?

Dianne are you getting this beautiful weather?

Sharon, are you ok, enjoying for pretties and veggies? Marie just brought me tomatoes, cucumbers and green, onions, made a sandwich and a sale..lordy could hardly eat the salad as the green onion was so hot.

Lindakay, can Todd go out with you now he is feeling better? Is you fabric large enough that you’ve no problem getting another quilt done?

I has a 9:00a.m. class this morning and another at 3:00 p.m..in between I shall work on penguin piece and give it to Grayson for his 1st..1st birthday is extra special and theme in penguins, it gives me a week to get it done. I overwhelming myself with the teeny face of baby penguin, shaking my head, have 2 stained glass saws, put required water in it, turned it on and the parts mini pieces that had difficult cuts was no problem.

If not too tired after class might try and get it soldered.

Could put timer on and grab an hour nap, sounds like a plan doesn’t it?

Hope your day is special

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yep, an hour nap sounds like a good plan Betty. The Inn is just a house that is set up for sewing. We do our own thing.

I am trying to buy 2 used roller chairs to LEAVE there. Marie & I both do much better sewing with roller chairs, easier on our backs. We have permission to just leave them there. Marilyn even offered to set them in their storage room. We are fine with leaving them for anyone to use. I got one this morning... 1 more to go!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, Todd hasn't left the house since he came home in June, other than for doctors. Just doesn't have the energy yet. He is slowly getting there. I do all the running for groceries, pharmacy...
Yes, I have lots of fabric here. Probably too much, that someone will eventually inherit. I have more quilts, than I know what to do with. I might take a few to donate somewhere. Church, hospital, police???

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pat, all my chairs in craft room are on casters, even the one at the quilter..table is low enough I can quilt with sitting. Very nice of the owner and am sure the other participants will all want one. All my machines have a piece under the machine that fall down front of table about 8” with pocket and all but 1 machine has thread and pin holders.. like working station to have same…should make one
Each unit has Kleenex, bandaid, small scissors on an elastic cord so there is always scissors and a supplies unit to put misc tools.

You wouldn’t know it today that I’m organized

Much like myself Lindakay, lots hanging on quilt ladders I made, wedding quilts in the tote, have about 10 panels , 6;Christmas and 4 non Christmas..almost everyone on my list have more than they need, reason for stained glass for a change. Might pick up wool and knit a few neck warmers..if nobody on my Xmas list then maybe see if i can sell them.

Didn’t nap, hoping maybe Peighton won’t come..be ok with me

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Most of our quilts will go to charities. Focusing on teen shelter right now.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You will make them very happy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That would be wonderful Pat, sure they will be appreciated.

Got a call from mom, she is going to my brother Mike’s tomorrow, likely stay till Saturday the heading here..i will look after Bella while she spends a day with with Sharon and another with aunt Muriel so will be going home next weekend

Too bad she didn’t stay or come a week later, could have gone to Braedon’s 1st birthday party

Trying to stay up later so i can sleep through the night hopefully!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Over achiever LOL, got 3 chairs. There is a 4th one advertised on Marketplace I would like to buy for Marie's sewing room, but it is CLEAR across to next town, a good 30-minute drive & we leave tomorrow after our doctor appointments.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just a gorgeous day, fall is in the air..told Marie when she was here for coffee this morning that many more days like this and I will have to take in the fall totes..usually keep that for September long weekend.

You are soiling the girls Pat, likely the sewing establishment you are going to will have to upgrade rest of the chairs or clients will be fighting over those on ruler.

Amelia who was here this morning couldn’t be talked into sewing 3 more rows of blocks, said she just turned eight last week and it was big enough for her..lol

Think i will make lunch, go and set all the patio set cushions back outside as I did not want to leave them in the rain, calling for a week of sun/overcast so out they can go.

I will wash floors downstairs and dust which was on my list of to do’s

Beautiful quilt. Love the applique flowers

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Is Amelia going to tie the quilt or are you going to longarm it for her? Either way, it is a beautiful little quilt! Hopefully she is hooked on quilting for life!!

Hopefully I have everything I need packed. I don't feel as well organized as I usually am. Oh well. There isn't anything I might need that won't be available within a few minutes with quilt store next door & grocery store down the road a few miles.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you both, will tell her..

I’m going to set it on the frame, without thread help her get in her own feel of motion with it, thread it and let her go

I’m sure you’ve packing for a workshop so many times not a worry, it’s in your bags

I’ve got the pink abstract glass in my trunk, hopefully by tomorrow the penguins will be ready for camping.

I haven’t even been outside today, a shame.. will make up for it tomorrow and weekend

Hungry for sweets but only have jello and ice cream

Had a good night’s sleep last night, a full day keeping busy so won’t be a late one.

Hope you are all enjoying your day.. hope

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Enjoy your trip Pat.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Add my praise to Amelia for her quilt. I think she did a wonderful job. She can be very proud of herself.

Verona, ON

Good morning everyone. This cooler weather is absolutely delightful.

Deb sending my condolences . I sure know how you feel. It does not make it an easier no matter how old the dog is ..... your heart aches. I am so glad you have your other dogs to keep you busy. I am sure your pack is missing their friend.

Like Betty I hope to get outside today and get some much needed work done.

Enjoy your outing Susan.

Safe travels Pat.

From 1pm Wed to 11am Friday was NOT enough camping lol I love camping.
No, Betty, because I don't consider the RV mine anymore. We went in Dianne's RV.
The Winnebago that was ours, I haven't driven before, and besides - that's where Bob went to sleep when he wanted to slip away to Naomi's place when I "wasn't looking or aware", so he thought. I've packed everything of his in it and the Demand Letter my lawyer sent him gives it to him, while I get to keep the mobile home. btw - I haven't heard anything from him, or the RCMP as to whether he'll accept the RV. While the Winnebago is in joint ownership, he has the insurance in his name. I really want it out of my driveway.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, gorgeous day out there, waiting til ten then out to cut grass.

Mom came yesterday at noon, maybe we will go to town this afternoon.

Worked at finishing the sg penguin yesterday, just need eyes and wax and ready to give it to Grayson for his first birthday party…hurrah

Karen, are you still getting people viewing your home?

Susan, not really enough time to settle in and enjoy but still a chance to get away.

Sharon a i hear Las Vegas area in innfor mega rain,,stay safe

Good morning.
Going to be about 100 for the rest of August. We desperately need rain.
Hard to believe Grayson is 1 already.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Too hot for me Lindakay, I cut grass , watered flowers, i came in soaking wet, now it’s clouding over..cooking turkey bacon, home fries and eggs.

,Ishtar check my patterns for another sg design

Boring day

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We had a GREAT time & it was awesome to have 3 whole nights & days. I got fabric bought & all the set blocks cut for my on-point purple quilt. The on-point creates lovely chevron pattern. I would normally set ALL the set blocks and then assemble but I was eager to "proof" my setting blocks & show Marie what it was going to be like. The quilt takes 143 @ 6 inch blocks (each block has 7 pieces). Add the setting blocks, 36, THAT's a LOT of blocks. I am used to making 12 inch blocks and assembling with or without sashing & borders. This is my first on-point.

I had gotten carried away making the 6 inch blocks & had enough to make a 2nd quilt (set like Rail Fence and NOT on point.) I got it all pieced together. MUCH easier on Prosser's audition board then what I have, & Marie's is MUCH better than any of ours. Hers is backed with foam board so you can really stick a pin in it.

While we were gone Phil's brother was hospitalized with shingles & severe swelling in his eyes. They said he will be in 10 days to 2 weeks!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, beautiful sunshine day, rest of the week rain is predicted.

Pat sure wished you could have gotten away without bad news upon your arrival home. Bet Marie enjoyed her time away without playing nurse. Can wait to see the finished projects..was there anyone at the workshop that has a quilting machine like yours that you might have gotten some hints making it an easier process? Did you ever find out what the trouble with machine was?

How did the chairs go with the class..bet it made it easier for you.

Mom will visit with Sharon today as I have a class at 9:30..thing I mistakenly booked 2 for same time slot but that is ok

Ezra whom i haven’t seen since school ended is coming as well as Brianna..she will be doing as scrolled family name pillow so a good part of her class will be watching the embroidery machine so then i can play with Ezra, my error but I will make do

Loved only knows what Ezra will want to create.

Best I go get myself organized

Hope to hear what you were all up to this weekend?
