That they did, the other day I couldn’t function, in a haze, was unsteady on my feet etc so nope, don’t need that. I get vaccines for my neck next month so i will talk to doc then

Beautiful, must order some, that one looks playful, like it

Made coconut cream pie, after me saying I told Marie no goodies, I’ve the works..turkey, mashed potatoes, turnip, fresh buns, cranberry sauce dressing and now I am not hungry..big sigh

Have eats for tomorrow

Pat, those quilts are so pretty.
I could spend days at a quilt show.
That Pantagraph pattern is so easy and quick to do.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good afternoon everyone.
Looks like everyone is busy.
Don't work too hard

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Adam (son who is living with me) has an interview at 2 PM today for CDL job. I am praying he gets it and can start getting his life on track. I am losing patience with sharing my house. The dogs, the youngest child (screamer) and his wife are driving me crazy.

Marie & I meet at the quilt shop to discuss which longarm quilting machine she wants. It is exciting and scary all at the same time. If I put my mind to it, I can have about a dozen quilt tops ready to finish within a month. There are a couple that I completed a few years ago that I decided I wanted to change out the borders, I was not happy with them. There were problems due to my inexperience & poor technique. I'm better now (wink).

I am so eager to see WHICH designs come preloaded on the computer program for the longarm. I know I'll be shopping for more soon!

There is a teen shelter that provides a bed, meals, laundry facilities etc for kids that are homeless, on the street etc between the ages of 13 and 17. That is where some of those earlier quilts will be donated.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Can't wait to hear what she gets.
Those kids will be so happy to get a quilt.

Betty, where are you? Everything ok?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We are back. Had very nice visits but it was sooooo cold.
One of my oldest friends (since we were 10) who is almost never on line popped on and I happened to see her. I said hi to her and told her we were in MI and not too far away. She came right back with come over now!. We had a great day together.

Service for son's step son was very nice and of course always good to gather family.

Got to see grandson who now lives in TX and I haven't seen in two years. He about squeezed me until my ribs cracked.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you had a nice visit and are back home safe and sound.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yep, I am ok..
Went on. A few times, no posts so just mellowing out.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

So good to hear you had a good time Karen & got to visit with friends and relatives.

Linda, Marie needs to make a decision by Thursday @ 5 PM. I think she has made her mind up, just needs to make it official. I asked when the timeline for delivery and set up would be, Ginny (shop owner) said mid-May.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you are ok Betty.
Pat, that is a long wait.

Victoria Harbour, ON

May will be here before you know it, gives you both time to get the Re ready… you will so love it.

I should be doing Suzanne’s quilt that is on the frame but can hardly walk so just sitting upstairs on the couch trying to figure out colours an design for sky/rocks or just add colour in the borders and leave clear.. not much different than quilting.

Must say I had Scare, .was soldering and felt a little shock where I was holding the soldering iron, as i did it kind of started to go like a fire cracker..thank goodness i had water on the coffee table, i watered the area down, left a brown burn mark after a lots of scrubbing, could have been so much worse..the cord had twisted i guess and finally burnt out. I had a new one i had bought several years ago so still soldering.

Tired now so to bed i go!

My friend Andrew has a long arm that is computer run. It's really amazing to watch.

Two Drs. appointments an hour apart was a circus. First was at 10. it was over quickly. He wanted me to go to lab for blood draw. Second Dr. also wanted labs and they were supposed to put in the order. I also called them from 1st Drs. to remind them. Got to lab, of course only orders from one Dr. so had to wait. Took nearly an hour. Then 4 stabs to get the required amount drawn. Off to second Drs., my oncologist, he always runs late. Finally comes in and guess what blood draws were no good they had clotted. Stabs # 5 and 6. Wait some more for results. Dr. also wanted me to have another iron infusion, scheduled for next Mon. I finally said I had to go I was starving hadn't eaten yet. Dr. just called at 4:30 my iron is fine no infusion is needed, also my blood level is not bad so off the hook for more testing. I am done with doctors for a month any how. I usually see oncologist every 3 months but he wants me more often until blood issue is settled again.

Freezing rain here - you too Betty?

To get ready for the ice storm I brought in lots of wood and made sure I had pails full of water in the house. The lake is still iced in so it would take a lot to get water out. Kai is in seventh heaven - he's running around from bucket to bucket taking a little slurp. He just loves water. I am going to get him a life jacket for the summer. I swim out quite a piece most days and I know this year he will follow me.

Betty that was quite a scare with your soldering iron. Even with the temperature control ones you have to be careful.

Had my monthly blood draw this morning. This NP got it on the first try. I could have hugged her.

Stay safe and well.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my! Glad you are ok after your soldering iron incident. Did you burn your hand?
Sure hope your weather gets better soon in Canada. Time for spring to arrive. Karen, glad to hear no infusion this time.
My hubby has been anemic for some time, he has to go tomorrow fir his first infusion. First of 5, 3 days apart for each. Do you have any side affects after your infusion?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I never have a problem with the infusions. I also have no allergies. That might make a difference.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Ben was frequently anemic. I remember one facility telling me "he is the WHITEST white man I have EVER seen!"
Betty, I am sooooo afraid of electricity, I can't imagine how startled you must have been!!
OH you ladies with your blood draws!!! I hate blood draws. When I get someone GOOD at it, I always so relieved. It was must worse for Ben.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I get told all the time how white I am Pat. Even Doctors remark on it. Actually right now is not too bad, my infusions have helped. Dr. had scheduled me for another next Mon. but called me last night to say my iron levels are OK so not needed.
I was very glad yesterday at office, tech is one who knows me well. She made quick work of getting a draw. I have to put my foot down when it's a learner...no sorry not practicing on me.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

AMEN Karen!!! I used to tell them while I was in the hospital, "you only get ONE try, so send your BEST". I also told them, "collect ALL you need because you are NOT coming back for more". More than once I have turned away a hungry vampire telling them "sorry, they took blood this morning and I am NOT giving more. Catch up to them if you want some."
They have even resorted to the MD taking the blood draw from the groin for Ben.

Rained most of the night, winds are up but nice to work out if you don’t ming mud, imagine. Last year this weekend i had the one running all all gardens ready to flour, big sigh

I went out Nd did 5 wheel barrels of tree limbs, set them way in the back because with rain and snow all week they won’t be dry enough to burn..now I’m on couch done in.

My nephew Ross came this morning..roof with discount is $5,000 and he can do it in a few weeks when he knows it’s a nice day. Guess i will go for it..using up all my pennies big sigh.

Some taking blood are wicked, not sure how many stabs they can do before they bring someone in that is better at it.. know when i was in and out of the hospital a few years back they had a specialist, the grand pro and they would bring her in and do me..but many a day it was painful.

Marie just brought me muffins, date squares her hubby just made, drats, i will be putting the pounds back on.

Tomorrow Sharon turns 70 so i am taking her out for brunch then Saturday night we go to Barrie Mandarin..nothing you would want to eat that isn’t on the tables..

Think I’ve done my quota for the day..make a souvlaki dinner and enjoy the day resting

My arms look like that, sometimes after my blood draws.
Sure is weird weather this year.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

My arms are looking like that now after yesterday. When I had my bypass surgery, they put ports in my neck. Looked like Frankenstein's monster but they worked. Had one Dr. came in every day to make sure nobody messed with them.

Sure takes an effort to get through living once you hit old adage,
Today Brian’s girlfriend's mom had assisted help in dying. Courageous i would say..
Roof is booked for mid April.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Must be hard to make that decision.
It's not legal here in the U S.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Not legal Linda, but I know it happens. Just kept hush hush.

Forest fires are bad here. mandatory evacuations going on. Not a danger to us. I have posted we can house small goats or other critters in our now empty chicken yard if anyone needs to.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Forest fires already? I always think of California as being the fire state..hope everyone is safe..hope some take advantage of your generous offer….i thought if some came from Ukraine if gmt looks for accommodation I would offer my home.

Still snowing, big sigh..

Ross came early this morning with sample for roof, said 3 of his providers are having trouble getting shingles in..he will put the order in with 3 companies and take from 1sr who gets them in.

Sharon will come between 10-11 so i can take her out for eats, a must seeing it’s her 70th..says she didn’t sleep most of the night reviewing her life, what had she accomplished, what will she be remembered for? Told her to not start that s**t…

I have my frame ready to start a scene of Georgian Bay.. I will drop in to Gayle’s for the 8 21/2” bevels and solder..am sure somewhere down stairs i will have enough glass to fo it..glass is like fabric, use it and you seem to get more.

Am sure you are all enjoying great weather and are playing in the gardens

Susan, Sharon, Deb, Liz you all ok..?

got my first row done on Suzanne’s

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm fine, just been busy is all :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Now don’t you be working day and night on the clubs paperwork, I’m hoping your weather is allowing you to play in your gardens, know how you enjoy that.

Took Sharon out for brunch, ate enough that I will not need supper.

Drats, I had a Georgian Bay scenery sketched that I did before, not sure who I gave it to but I wanted the minimize it a bit for the inner area of my frame and forgot so a standstill so guess I will go to Midland tomorrow to get it done, should buy ink for my printer but don’t use it enough, always seems the ink dries out so just as easy when you remember to do it at staples.

Praying they contain your fires soon Karen.
We have wildfires here too about 6 hours north east of us. Another one 3 hours from here. We have had no rain and it's so dry. So many dead trees around from the bad snow storm last year. Nothing in my yard is showing any kind of growth.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy it’s early for wildfires isn’t it.. know many don’t believe in climate change but I sure do

Keep safe

I had some scary news today. I'm trying to not worry, but, it's hard. I was at the doctor's office a week ago, because I had some soreness on my left side below my ribcage. She poked around and ordered a CT scan. That showed that I have a mass on my left kidney, as well as a large kidney stone on the left, which is what she says is causing the pain. Next step is an ultrasound which is scheduled for next Tuesday. My mom had kidney cancer, on the left side, too. I don't have many people to talk to, so I'm sorry if I come here and unload, just scroll past if I get to be too much. My doctor told me not to worry, that she'd tell me when I needed to worry. I thought it was strange when I went for my appointment and didn't have to wait long in the waiting room or exam room before she came in. She's always running behind, but, today, she practically followed me into the room, rather than the usual hour wait.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

You know, there is a reason we are all in here. We are ready to listen and give support when and where needed. So yes bring it here.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

It is NEVER wrong to come here for support and a listening ear. It is hard NOT to worry but just know you will deal with whatever the outcome is.

Karen, I have personally never been involved in an evacuation. My oldest and his wife were, so they (and 2 cats) came here over a year ago because of an evacuation. They could see the actual flames from their porch.

Adam's Durango engine went out Thursday night while they were out of town. They spent the night in a motel & I had to pick them up yesterday. Mechanic says the engine is toast, so Adam has already called a scrapper to get rid of it.

Marie & I started working on clearing more space out of her office to put the longarm in that work. That room is right across from the sewing room & has a laminate floor. I will try to have a sale and see if we can't recoup some of our money from things we are culling. YARDS and yards of felt and fabric ribbing, bias tape with ruffles. The quip shop has given us 4/26 & 4/28 for install and training dates for the longarm. That is a full 2 weeks earlier than originally though!

My clothes washer went on the fritz yesterday and I have tentative appointment for repair for Tuesday morning. It is covered under warrantee.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Deb, you are never alone. We are all here to lean on. Praying test results turn out good for you.
Pat, wouldn't a new engine be cheaper than a new car? Sorry to hear you had to go get them. Glad your wahing machine is under warranty.

Pacifica, CA

Hi all,

Betty, just visiting with judy!
So nice to get on a plane and be free so to speak.

It has been so hard being cooped up for 3 years .
Having fun we had snow flurries and i was like a kid in backyard standing in snow and catching snowflakes.
Head back to california on sunday wow the week went by quick!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hugs to Judy from all of us Liz, sorry I couldn’t make it, they just lifted the travelling ban of not having to get testing prior to returning, with my shoulder issues I just could not drive that far on my own. Big sigh..you can take my cold weather and snow back with you if you think you will miss it Liz.

Deb, sorry to hear you are having kidney issues, perhaps the mass is from infections which does show some areas just a dried up leather..including you in my prayers..please please please never feel that this is not a safe place for you..we are a supportive group and would feel terrible if you thought you couldn’t come to us..family is family, we are here for you.

Boys come shortly, then off to Midland then Barrie later in the after afternoon, full day.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

62 years today. No plans.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

62 anniversary Karen? Goodness! How wonderful.
Linda, no the Durango is old & new engine is not in the cards.
Liz, I'll bet snow was a special treat after living in California!

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

62 years!!! Congratulations, Karen. Hope you find a quiet way to celebrate.
