Just love it akaren.you will look pretty spiffy sitting in it

Verona, ON

Great looking ride Karen. Love the colour ! Sometimes you just have to go with your heart.

Pat our sleep habits are pretty similar. I still maintain I am coming back as a sleeper. My sweet dad, my sister , my sis' youngest son and myself sufferer(ed) from poor sleep while my mother and brother could sleep through anything.

My new stackable washer/dryer unit is in and already in use. My last one was installed in 2001 - it was a Kenmore. All of our appliances were Kenmores and only the fridge had to be replaced. I hope I don't jinx myself.... lol This unit came from the local hardware store and the delightful reliable Mark installed it. He was telling me today he has been at the hardware store FT for 18 years.

Deb how are those pups doing ? Things going well for you ?

I've been avoiding the news. All this devastation in the Ukraine is so upsetting.

Betty I was perusing the recent Herschners' catalogue. Saw a couple of things I would like to order but then reminded myself I have 2 latch hook kits in the bedroom cupboard. One is of wolves and the other a SW design. I keep saying I am going to set up the 4 ft table in the front room but right now I am rationalizing not setting it up because of all the sand in the house. What a mess !! Half load cannot come fast enough for me.

Ducks and geese are making themselves known. Some complain about their noise but like the peepers I enjoy their sound. I need to make sure the area the snappers lay their eggs in is ready - meaning I have everything out to lay over their nests as soon as the eggs are laid so the raccoons don't get to them first. One problem is sometimes the snappers come during the overnight and I miss hearing them.

Betty saw on Global news you might be in line for some freezing rain overnight. Hopefully just rain here.

I'm going to go out and put the 6 bags of garbage into the Escape right now. Then I will be sure to take them up the lane in the morning. I refuse to put them out the night before - I lived in that farm house for years and know what a mess can be made from garbage bags put out the night before. It got that the cottagers after I spoke to them would leave their garbage bags with me when they left Sunday night.

LK have you noticed an increase in the number of ticks ? They are bad here already.

Stay safe and well.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

3 tries to get out the smell is enough Karen. Glad you ended up with the car you wanted, I REALLY like the blue color! BUT... smell is a powerful thing!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful car Karen. Dealership should have cleaned that car better before selling.
Haven't noticed any ticks yet here Dianne.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

My granddaughter spends a lot of time walking in the woods and has found ticks in Michigan already.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, freezing rain slater for later this morning, just what we need..p ump has now been at 6 minute intervals so I am less worried if flooding bit with about 5 days of rain coming i pray it passes me by.

As for the ticks i check Ziggy when he come in but haven’t found one, could it be possible Dianne they are only in certain regions?

Gee whiz 3 cleaning and still a spell, sounds like something passes away and decomposed a tad, that you can’t get out..good Lord said ‘Karen, you deserve the car of your dream, enjoy.

Dianne, did you not go under the new system with these giant trio bins..you could leave them at end of drive and fill those when you do your garbage trek?

Love the sound of the Canadian geese and bi rd all singing with happiness, more and more you see more and more arriving. Need to buy seed..have some i can start with but the squirrels would beat them to it.

You always so enjoy seeing the turtles nesting..wildlife certainly makes you want to rush outside and see what is new.

Put Suzanne’s quilt on the frame but drats no lt grey aurafil, sure don’t want to take a drive to Orillia. Will call Barrie and see if they have some, if they do I will have Greg pick some up for me after work if he is not out of town.

Ready to do the flange border on Darlene’s kitty throw so that will be this morning’s to do

What will you be all doing today?

Safe drive

Freezing rain and high winds just starting
They did not run school buses today

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We just got the power back, we have been without for hours. Our electric company is replacing a pole and straightening another. Talked to the guys yesterday, gave them permission to put their boom truck in our yard to do the work in the neighbors. Our yard had better access. I doubt the neighbor will be grateful we allowed the trucks rather than have trucks over their new cement and into THEIR yard, leaving deep ruts. Good news is the pole is installed in THEIR yard, we said NO and electric company honored that. (They did not HAVE to, there is a 10 feet easement along the whole property)
I need to get cracking, that hanging sleeve has to be installed TODAY so Marie can deliver the quilts tomorrow morning.
With no power, I was grateful for my Kindle so I could at least read.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful sunrise this morning Betty. Must be pretty bad for the busses not to run.
Karen, have a safe trip.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nice of you Pat, I’ve 2 poles on my front yard, but they are placed and not noticed.
The hand sewing part of the sleeve is what takes the time, good luck getting it ready for Marie. I have my flange border pinned, was going to sew it down but after my bath i decided it could wait til tomorrow.

We really didn’t get much rain or freezing rain today but just looked at our radar and it’s coming in next hour, won’t be nice..winds are just howling..great place to be is inside, cuddled in.

Ate early but am hungry, don’t you think i should make myself a hot chocolate, wanted a peanut butter sandwich but ran out of bread, drats, guess pudding and fruit will have to be.

Betty - sorry to hear about Alex's passing. She must be beside herself. I'll keep her in my prayers.
Pat - I've been trying to read before bed, after doing all my other stuff, for about an hour. It's nice & peaceful in the house then (11:30 to midnight when I start to wind down)
I have my mind running overtime going over all that can be done at Silver Willow, and planning a Spring Cleaning that's way overdue. After cribbage today I looked at 3 shelves of books, photo albums, and magazines/pamphlets. Some of the aged books were from the school that disbanded. They were library books, and lesson books. Some of the people at SW may want them, but I doubt it. Most are downsizing. I'll have to bring it up at the mid-April meeting to see what they want to do with them. There's no point in keeping them, as "historical" as they are.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yeah, the reading is an important part of my wind-down if I want to sleep!!!

Susan, you are likely right, no one will want the books.

My hands are aching, I HATE hand sewing! Both quilts are done & ready for the show.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, 41 with rain coming in later today..all but a very thin layer of freezing rain it passed up by (for now). Will be glad when we get a warm day without wind so i can burn what is in the fire pit and refill with what is now on the ground..looks so dirty and unloved out there.

No fun purging is it Susan, we want to keep what we purge or think others would want it but truth is time for dump.. what i have been doing is cleaning night before garbage pick up, come morning it’s gone. Oops can’t get it back.

I will give June all your condolences, her daughter who lives quite a distance is still with her,June is not sure for how long but I’m sure there are any things right now June needs help with.

Pat, do you not like flange bindings or is it not allowed to be accepted as a traditional quilt?

My flange binding is pinned, time i sew it on and be done with the kitty quilt. Seems forever on it but not really, since i started it i quilted June ‘just below the water’ quilt,, helping other with their pieces, now have Suzanne’s quilt on the frame so now I have to get back to my monthly to do’s

Oooh Ohhh just saw my first robin..

Thanks fir reminding me, must get my pain meds as well.

Drats everything I want to make for lunch involves bread, ran out and seeing I go shopping tomorrow no sense making a special trip out today so TV dinner for me.

No, I personally REALLY like flange bindings but find they can be difficult if used with borders. The quilting foot wants to fold them over.

Quilt show starts tomorrow but Marie & I will be in a serger class. The guild members "purge" their unwanted supplies, fabric etc & resell at the show. They let us purchase stuff today when we were there turning in our quilts. Marie & I will attend the show Saturday.

Discount Sew & Vac will have "quilt challenge grab bags" available. You go home with a brown bag of fabric scraps & 1 fat quilt of your choice (You pick that FQ BEFORE you see what is in your bag) and have a set amount of time to show your finished project. You MUST use at least some of EVERY fabric in quilt top. I hope they still have some bags left when Marie & I get there.

Grayson REALLY looks small next to Dawson!!! Who's dog?

Betty - my "birthday month bird" is the Robin :)
March : Robin
Robins are the birds of perseverance! You have the uncanny ability to ride out even the toughest storms. Your loved ones are in awe of your strength and conviction, whether they admit it or not. You may feel tired at times, but you rarely show it. Instead, you focus your efforts and keep your eye on the prize. Strong and steady.

How about that, eh?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yep, sounds like Susan! "your eye on the prize. Strong and steady" .You've certainly been riding this storm out. I am proud of you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, my birthday month is March as well…we are two of a kind..

Sounds like a fun weekend ahead of you Pat.. will enjoy seeing what is in your grab bag.

Enjoy your serving class

Morning, 31f with rain today..yard looks so sad, limbs all over, where the plow pushed snow he dug up quite a bit of lawn earth, i will find some equipment to come in and level again..happens every year but today is worse.

I had the worse night ever, dreams, more like hallucinations..feel off, even worried about taking a bath this morning incase I passed out.

Help Dianne, there just has to be a better way to clean soldering iron vs using to the white block??

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yup Betty - two of a kind :)
Going to have my first Board Meeting on Monday with the Past President, VP, Treasurer & Secretary (and me, of course lol) to discuss our next General Meeting in April, and I'll be proposing some events & fundraising over this next year. I only hope the people are willing to accept change......... well, they accepted me, and although friends with the Past Pres, I'm a very different person :))

btw - I picked up my subpoena for Bob's trial on April 7th at 9am. He's being charged with Assault - ie: Choke & Suffocate.

Betty, sorry you had such a bad night. Have you changed meds recently? That could have triggered the problem.

Susan, soon ONE more issue will be behind you. MOVING on & going forward with determination!!!

Linda, looking forward to seeing the pictures!

This was no judging quilt display or I would NEVER have been talked into participating!

#1, My quilt that I will give to friend for Christmas, the next one is also mine, the 3rd is a friend's & the 4th pick is Marie's. 2,3 & 4 are using the same neon colored embroidery blocks. Each of us made them up differently. Obviously the other 2 quilts are MUCH larger than the one that I did with the neon hearts, mine was about 50 x 62, the #1 quilt pic'd is 74 x 74. .

We did the serger class & had to quit early, the instructor had a funeral to attend. Marie & I then went on to the quilt show. We were soooooo tired! Marie is considering purchasing a longarm with the computer. She needs to decide before the 3/31 to get the show special. She has been thinking about this for some time. We just need to find ROOM for it!!

Quilt show pics! Isn't that chair with the selvages CUTE!!! I took over 30 pics, there were over 400 quilts and wall hangings displayed.

And yep, got my grab bag, I will take pic later.

Pat, if it wasn't a judging quilt show, what was it - a display only?

Beautiful quilts Pat.
This was a 4 patch one block wonder. The fabric was a bunch of 8 inch animal panels.
Quilting was just a bunch of circles. Something whimsical I think a child might like. Pink zebra fabric is the backing.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yes display ONLY, the visitors got to vote on their favorite but that is all. No prizes etc. Heck, you could not have talked me into it (let alone Marie!) if it was going to judged.

There were 2 quilts that were 4 piece "one block wonders" SEVERAL that were the full one "one block wonders" One of my favorite of the one-block. I think one of things I like is it being set in black and not block to block. Not as overwhelming for me. I can see each shine on it's own.

A few more from the show and the last one is my 74 x 74 finished quilt from the embroidery blocks

I think I would liked #3 more if the sashing had been solid black. I think it kind of detracted from the applique blocks.

Lordy I sooo enjoy looking at those quilts, you’ve both done a great job..addictive isn’t it? Lindakay Pat said where hers where going, how about you? Yes, what a beautiful quilt but should have been framed with dark colour..guess it’s ones own taste.

Going back to look at the photo’s again but not beforeI press send

Had 2 of the 3 boys this morning..both went home with smiles. Hard to teach when you are in mega pain but they made me laugh..I asked the youngest what he would like to be when he is an adult, he said a designer of unicorns and clothes..I said it would be exciting I could say I was his first teacher,he told me that I would be in heaven by then but i could come visit him and see what he was do8ng as long as i didn’t frighten him..imagine!

I decided I will start tomorrow to no longer take the new meds, I’m not sleeping, having terrible nightmares and coughing half the night..pain level is same as I normally am on 2nd month of vaccine so no use taking them but I will give it a week of no taking them and see if my issues are still the same.

Visited with Gayle at stained glass shop and had a nice visit..spent my allowance..didn’t have the bevels I wanted but bought green and some grey see through glass to get between, bought the, pine tree bevel set and some fusing glass, would like the 3 boys to make mom earrings and pendant for their moms a set,,best I practice how to run the kiln again.

Ziggy is sleeping next to me and purring, while at Walmart I decided to buy McDonalds for supper..just ate, it’s bath time then bed

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Double bubble #1 is the name of the bubble Pantagraph.

Pat, those quilts are beautiful. I love your embroidery quilt is so stunning.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

The embroidery in the quilts were actually done by my group members. I have not yet made up the quilts from Marie & my embroidery blocks, but I have bought the fabric for the pieced blocks that will be included. Marie is planning on making her quilt up with ONLY our pink on white embroidery blocks. She bought the fabric backing yesterday. Beautiful delicate almost white with small soft pink flowers. My backing will be BLACK with pretty stargazer lillies etc. Can we be more different? LOL

YES, very addicting but I am realistic in that I am not perfectionist enough to be "great" at this craft. My quilts will depend more on color combinations with easy patterns. That doesn't mean they won't be pretty, such never stunning!

I can see Marie doing more embroidery blocks with me combining them with pieced blocks to make quilts. We hope to focus on getting a bunch of fabric used up. She is cleaning her office and sorting out stuff. We were given the equivalent of BINS of miscellaneous fancy fabric that would make up into cute "dress up" clothes for little girls or for dolls. We are giving it away; we are hoping to focus more on quilts.

I wish more people from our BOM group had got their quilts FINISHED and displayed them. I was disappointed with that.

Marie is considering clearing the majority of her office out and purchasing a longarm that is computerized. right now she is deciding just how big of a frame she wants. The sale price is good thru 3/31 and our dealer is known for their great customer service.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have several friends say to buy the biggest you have room for. Several started out with small frames, and almost immediately regretted it. Small frames can only do a baby quilt comfortably.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

thanks for the input!! We don't want to regret getting too small but are concerned about it taking up all that space if we end up only quilting 60 wide most of the time!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, finally slept til about 8 am, few breaks during night though but a great sleep.. we got about 2” of snow, sun is trying to come out.

I took a quick ride over to Sharon’s for lots grey quilting threat, couple were picking up the male puppy so i didn’t stay. She just said he was gone and she had stew on, i had already taken out a big turkey breast to make a good supper for myself..had a hungry mans turkey dinner in the fridge but it would do.

Pat, you enjoy make quilts, they are loved by all who receive the, perfect for them so just enjoy.

Pat I agree with Lindakay, Sharon bought I think what was a 22” throat, had it 6 months and traded in for bigger..good luck

I sure live the quilts you and Lindakay did. Lindakay is this photo similar to what you did on it?

The lady I got the kitty embroidery designs from is doing embroidery florals right now, think she said it was 12 different blocks, she will loan me the memory stick so i can download and do it..

BUT I found what would make 2 queen size bed hand embroidered blocks, know one is blue, maybe other pink?? Have to look where they are hidden 😜 by mom not put together

I am going to see how these 2 quilt block quilts and be separated to make 4 throws so I can make them fir the grands..would be nice for them to have a piece made from great gran

Ready to start free hand quilting of leaves and flowers on Sharon’s quilt, promised no more than 1/2 hr morning, afternoon and evening so i don’t aggravate my shoulder.

Right nowI am working on that stained glass hanging..although the colour of glass next to green gels look dark, in the light the are light grey, almost clear like some of the marbles.

Have 2 more bunnies on machine that Linda wants for a friend grands, i don’t sit to o them, each time I go downstairs i put the next step and let it do it’s thing.

Well i got off the meds dr. Gave me which he thought would help
. Couldn’t sleep even with sleeping pill
. Dry mouth
. When i did fall asleep dreams tended to be more like hallucinations
. Started to cough big time
. Pain in month 2 is no different than before

I will get off for a few weeks and see if all those symptoms disappear, if they do then i will ask doctor to try different meds.

I asked Debbie when she is free anytime after April 2nd and Sharon and i will meet her at Cracker Barrel.. likely we will stay the day, if she brings Inuk then overnight..he needs his injections so she gives them on strict schedule.

I keep asking Marie next door to not bring me treats, i am trying to get down to 115lbs well she came this morning with treats

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze

This is the pattern I used.
Glad you slept well. Sometimes those meds make you worse than you were before.

Thumbnail by taters55
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda, I have seen that quilting pattern & I LOVE it! I also like to do it, there is something about the double circle that feels "right".

I bought a BIG bag of "Patriotic scraps" at the quilt show and I have now separated them into 2 piles, 1 with warmer antique creams etc, and the other with clearer colors, white etc. I have not yet decided how I am going to work them up.

I thought I'd share a few more pieces from the quilt show. I wish #4 had been displayed on a wall so it could be seen better. I am guessing it was not outfitted with a proper hanging sleeve & therefore did not get hung. NONE of these are mine, they are just some pieces I thought were cute.
