This is the new kitchen cabinet and the old one used to keep bird cage out of bad cats reach. She keeps prowling around looking for a way to reach them. She can jump but no place to land.

Thanks for the new room Betty.
I love those patterns you showed for the tree skirt.
Beautiful cabinet Karen.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, your home has so much charm! Love the log walls.

Betty, I hope if you lose your "Plow guy" he has another man he can recommend.

The services for Mike were very nice. I was horrified to learn that the life insurance and insurance on the bank loan etc etc had all been canceled just weeks before his death because of the divorce. My cousin is facing LOTS of turmoil and drama. I feel bad for her. She has to get out of the house. Their kids do not live close and are leaving. The church she attended for years has a new pastor. There was a falling out between him and several members of the congregation. She now has no church family, it's a mess. Marie & I are going for a day this week to help.

Marie & I got to see cousins again, our Aunts services were just a few weeks ago. Our Uncle Wilbur's service will be in the spring in our town (not AZ where he had been living). it has been a difficult time for our family.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Did his ex cancel all the insurance policies? That is so sad.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is a very sad story indeed Pat..she will appreciate any support you and Marie can give her .. your visit will so be appreciated. Was going to ask same, did he know he was passing, why on earth would he cancel, even in divorce you would think he would have some respect for what was and keep policies active or was it because he had no funds.

Karen, how are you feeling, great piece of furniture, and i as well love your home..was it a good move for both of you?i can see a furry liking it’s lips as he watches those birds..lol

Sharon, how is Cecil?

Susan, how did your week go?

Imagine, was 2pm and i climbed to bed, by noon my energy is zapped.
Look around at all this Christmas stuff and think before i decorate the trees i should put all back in totes..such a feeling of doom and gloom.

Sharon just called mom to say weather is suppose to be bad tomorrow and maybe she shouldn’t come up..wonder if she will.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Cecil is holding his own. He is eating finally but it goes right through him. He is on CBD oil and steroids. I have a meeting with the vet on Monday to go over his tests to find out how progressed the cancer is and how long do we have. I can finally talk about it and not break down. He threw up everything he ate yesterday until his dinner. I fed hm very small amounts of very small portions cut up very small. He is happy and has lots of energy and that is my goal, to keep him happy.

Our weather is really beautiful. I finished planting my snapdragons yesterday. Going to try and get some rooted cutting planted today but right now sitting on the back patio with Cecil sleeping by my side. He ate most of an apple and if he rests, he may be able to keep it down. He didn't eat much of his dinner.

Pat, that is terrible those policies were cancelled. He could have told her and she could have made the payments.

Susan, I am so sorry Bob switched back. Men are so stupid. I am so sorry for your emotional distress.

Betty, my son will be here on Thanksgiving and I am going to have him help me get all of my Christmas Santa's out. His son, who is 10 has never seen all of grandma's Sharon's Christmas. He will think he is in a Christmas store.

I am taking Emma to the Vet tomorrow to determine why she is gaining so much weight.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I had to send that because I was afraid I was going to loose it. My mow and blow gardener over purchased geraniums and cyclamens and brought them to my garden and planted them. That was a pleasant surprise. The geraniums are beautiful. I usually do not plant cyclamens because they are a bulb and when they are finished blooming I have no where to move the bulbs and i hate to throw them away.

Karen, I really like your new cabinet. Great find.

First photo is Peace rose. Second photo is Cecil after grooming. Whiskers were trimmed so so he could eat better. Second is with his new sweater. He only weighs 12 pounds so he gets cold easy. We will only use it on his walks when it gets colder. We only go on short walks because he gets tired easily.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

All the policies were canceled as part of the terms of the divorce. Mike's death was a shock to all. Mike had been helping financially to make the payments on the house.

How old is Cecil? he sure is a handsome fellow. A very pleasant surprise to get all those additional flowers added to your lovely gardens.

I had offered to drive my pickup today so Aiden's other grandma could move stuff out of storage in fewer trips. She canceled, said her shoulder was bothering too much and the wind was blowing too much. She will be hard pressed to find better weather than what we experienced today but that's her call. I was a little relieved though, I took a 3 hour nap instead!! I hope it does not interfere with my sleep tonight.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon everyone, it’s not quite sure what it wants to do well there are either rain or snow every few minutes the sun try stupid between the clouds but they are calling for snow tonight. Mom was supposed to drive down as my brother and myself are meeting at Sharon‘s for supper but she felt saying they were calling for snow she wouldn’t come which is a smart move but you never know maybe she’s at Sharon‘s.

Family dynamics, if it was anywhere else Mike & Kim would be there with bells on but because it’s at Sharon’s and they found it and said something came up and they couldn’t make it.

Sharon how is Cecil today? Your appointment with the vet for update is something you really want to know and yet you don’t want to know so I’m sure mentally it’s exhausting for you. Saw on Facebook this weeks weather was going to ask was that good news or was that bad news as it seemed quite warm for my region but your region may be a tad on the cool side.

Pat that’s very tragic, going through or gone through a divorce only to pass away so suddenly. Difficult time for her I’m sure.

Linda just messaged she was in Barrie getting an iron infusion, they will not book another until they get results of some test that they’ve done, here’s hoping that that’s enough to keep her going for a while.

Yesterday I was ready to put all the Christmas stuff back in the totes just not with it but a while ago I wash the windows inside and out of the living room and dining room, using those Windex bottles that you attached to water hose, doesn’t seem to of made much difference but maybe they’re not dry yet. Went in the back shed and got the rotating tree stand and brought the larger part of the three pieces of wrapped trees maybe tomorrow I’ll put up the first one and fluff it up and just take my time

Something singing a Christmas song I have to go and see what I brought in that’s playing music then I have to sharon’s

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Marie & I boxed dolls and loaded the cars. I have the deliveries to Domestic Violence and Support Advocacy Resource Center & Discount Sew & Vac (they supply new toys to the Mission). Marie has the St Vincent de Paul boxes in her car. On Thursday we will clean up the rooms, put away supplies for the season. What is done, is done. NOTHING more after Thursday will be added to this year. I am tired and ready to be done.
I am supposed to get my quilt back tomorrow and Marie & I signed up for a binding class tomorrow night. I am NOT satisfied with my mitered binding corners and I am hoping this class will improve technique.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, woke up at 5and by the time i got to living room with my coffee i saw Mother Nature had set a cover of white..got the bins to roadside for pickup and and shovelled back staircase entrance incase oat/June come..i am sure they will pass on today, driving on first snow fall.

Lovely meal at Sharon but she was sooo upset and embarrassed, after e years of not having Bernie and Charlene over to eats she (and I) forgot she was vegan,,,wasn’t much for her to eat! Don’t want to ruffle feather but i think people when asked out should remind people they are vegan so host doesn’t feel bad if forgotten.

Pat, less pressure on your shoulders not having to thing about the dolls..the ones you are dropping off will surely be loved.

Enjoy your class..the off day I’m not in the mood for binding i use the binding tool.

Best i have my 2nd cup of coffee and get downstairs and lean up (memory quilt pieces) just incase girls come,,kin of hoping they won’t as i could get the end quilt to sewn..if weather is better maybe i will take rigged to lens mills in The morning to get backing but first I’ll check all my hiding spots first

Kyle sent me a photo of his fireplace going, there stood in front a snowman fire screen i made well over 20+ years ago!

I agree. If you are on a special diet, you should remind the host.
Snow scenes are beautiful, but I am glad it's not here. At least not yet. Praying we don't get a storm like last year.

Pat, sounds like you have a lot of dolls for the kids again this year. You will put big smiles on all those faces.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nice is you get one at least once a winter, let’s you know what we are endur8ng Lindakay lol

June called to say. Few more of her children are up to see their dad and her..things are getting closer to end.. I didn’t hear from Pat and that worries me, she never not calls and she has been ill…going to miss those gals when the time comes they can’t come sewing..

Well the 2 throw tops needs quilting…with shovelling, putting binds to drive and sewing for a few hours needs drugs and put my arm in sling..some days you get so tired you just want to cry, can hardly do anything you just want to sob..

Off i go to check what other packages are left re Jeff’s guitar kit that needs cutting..

Put bottom section of Xmas tree on stand and fluffed branches, Ziggy not sure why entire tree is not up..he will enjoy it once all the ornaments are on it..

Wish i had backing for these throws..

There was a call on my phone from Dr’s office, they don’t open til noon..hope it’s for my injections

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Snow is beautiful but I'm grateful it is not here yet!!

As near as I can guess, we got 223 dolls done & delivered by this Wednesday. I am not sure if there are 12 boxes or 13 in Marie's car (223 or 235 dolls total).

Marie ended up with an MD appointment for this afternoon and will have growth removed from her face. How / why this thing grew is anyone's guess and she will be happy to have it GONE. it's about 1/4 inch diameter and at least 1/4 at tallest point, about an inch from her nose on her cheek. I hope they can remove it TODAY in the office.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mega dolls, happy happy little ones..did i tell you Ezra the 6 year old wants his Santa elf to be a gir so convinced him if you put the beard in the crack it could be her hair lol

She will feel much better once removed..will they send it to be checked that cancer it is not..yuk, hate even to spell out that word as I am sure all do when they say/write it!!! Weird it just popped up.

Kyle came for lunch,1/2 r hour visit then had to leave for a call, as he was leaving Rita was coming with donuts and coffee in hand, so Kyle left with donuts in hand.

Rita just left now, nice long visit..her daughter is pregnant after rains in 3 teen now a baby..wow

Get my shoulder Thursday at 12:40pm, let’s hope no reaction like I had last time.. I’m on the list for Booster shot, scheduled for mid December.

Keep looking at the clock, maybe i can have a nap

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yes, I am sure they will send the specimen for lab work. I think they are required to.

If I understood you right, Rita's daughter has 3 teens and NOW expecting another baby?? oh boy! lol Praying for NO negative reaction after your injections.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh my for Rita's daughter. I used to tell mine that I was going to wait until they were all in High school and then have another. By that time though, not only was it impossible, but all baby desire had fled. Much better to go on to grands..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Can’t imagine having another once you raised your family..

aunt exiles who just past away was 48 ( only reason i said 48 is because even to me it seems impossible but i think she was 50) she and her daughter gave birth same day..both uncle Louis and aunt Exilda were married 75 yrs..she said they never regretted late in life child..

They were the couple that spent last 20 years or so holding hands as they sat and watched 50’s shows..if ever there was the perfect marriage I’d say it was it..when you were near them you could just feel the love..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying the spot on her face is not cancer, and of it is, they catch it early, and it will all be removed.
I can't imagine being pregnant after my kids were grown.
Prying you have no adverse reaction from your injections Betty

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Marie ended up having to reschedule, she forgot her phone & wallet at home & so had NONE of her insurance info with her. Thankfully she is rescheduled for tomorrow.

She did make it to the binding class with me. I practiced mitered corners on placements.

Thumbnail by psychw2
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You did an awesome job on those corners.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well Pat, looks like your practice made perfect. I love stripes for binding.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Thank you all for the encouragement. The bias printed fabric sure makes it easier to get a pretty border LOL!! Marie has bought some outstanding bias stripe prints. She is more apt than me to buy something she likes without knowing what she is going to use it for.

The instructor had some interesting gadgets, I might buy a couple of them. I get Dana's dragon quilt back today. I have a lot to get done before I leave Friday.

Linda, are you being hired to do ONLY the longarm, or are you binding the quilts as well? The instructor was having us use Clover clips and clip the WHOLE thing before sewing down the binding on the front. How do you do it? Karen? What technique do you do? NO way am I every going to hand sewn a binding, thankfully that is NOT the style Kay taught. My hands would rebel big time.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I do all the binding by machine as I can no longer do the hand work. I am not alone in our QOV group so I don't worry about it. No one is going to pick it apart anyhow.

Look up "How to Sew Faux Flange Quilt Binding" on Google. It has to be done on machine and looks cool. Tutorial is by Laura Coia. Hers are great.

Hi everyone. I have missed you. I was finally able to get back online yesterday. I swear my laptop is possessed and just does what it likes when it likes.

Cecil looked spiffy in his sweater Sharon. My goodness I think Kai's paw weighs 12 lb. He is right around 100 lb. He's going to be a big boy.

Finally got all my winter wood stacked. A friend helped me for a couple of hours which I really appreciated. Wood stove is on and will be staying on now until Spring.

Betty what a sweet surprise to see your handiwork in Kyle's photo.

I'll go back now and read all I missed.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

What a week.
Closed bank accounts Bob had access to & opened new ones, contacted most of the places that do auto-withdrawals, contacted most of the gov't (provincial & federal) to change my status, deleted Bob's profile on Netflix & changed the password, closed two other accounts (MGM & Prime Video) that he wanted & was costing me, RCMP has my car keys that Bob turned in so I just have to pick them up, informed neighbours to watch that he doesn't come onto the property at all, got his name OFF the vehicle insurance and he is now responsible for the payments, changed my phone display so people only see my name, last week I changed the locks on my home & put a padlock on the shed, and had lots of phone calls helping me through this, plus a counselling session last night.
I found out on the 10th that Bob had never stopped meeting up with Naomi. I found out yesterday that SHE was the one who called in the rape charge on the day that he returned home to me (June 28th) and sometime in Sept she withdrew the charges so the No Contact Order was taken off (not that he would tell me, of course).
I have a No Contact Order, so he can't contact me in ANY way. He came onto the property when no one was with him a week ago & he locked the RV. I found the 2nd set of RV keys so I went in & removed stuff I needed. Police told him that if he's found to have come onto the property OR contacting me, it would be jail time.
I've had professionals tell me that this change in his behaviour & memory lapses (he forgot his own son's name, for pete's sake!) are indicative of dementia, and sounds to them like he's going down quickly. If you'll remember, in April I tried to talk to our family Dr about it and he dismissed it. He was supposed to have reported my concerns then, and he didn't. I know Bob still has the same Dr.
Well, I can only look after myself & my safety. I tried to support Bob, but I won't do so when it puts MY safety in jeopardy. It's sad, but there it is. I'm strong enough that I can get on with my life.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pat, I do longarm services as well as the bindings. I also make quilts for customers that don't know how too, or can't because of age.
I do bindings by machine only. I never clip or pin. I sew on the back first, then turn the quilt over and stitch the top down.

Susan, sorry you have to go through all this. But sounds like you are getting good advice. Glad you changed all the accounts. Keeping you in our prayers.
Hey Dianne. Glad to see you posting. Sounds like you have kept busy getting ready for winter weather.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

LinSda, I normally attach & sew down my bindings the same way you described, no, I don't normally pin either. The instructor specialized in bindings. I did finally learn to do a decent mitered binding, I was happy about that!

Susan, you have a clear conscious, and THAT worth a lot. YOU tried, you gave him every opportunity to get it handled and he did not. Sounds like you have done a good job of getting stuff changed. Do you have a will? Life insurance, those you will also want to change.

Diane, good to have you back!

Karen, I have done the faux flange and LOVE the way it looks.

I got the quilt back this morning and spent ALL day but it's DONE! binding, label and ready to deliver. I can't wait to give it to my son.

Thumbnail by psychw2 Thumbnail by psychw2 Thumbnail by psychw2
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Pat - we do both have a will and that's something that I am going to talk about with the lawyer on Friday- They give advice and a free will service. Our previous wills mentioned a house that we no longer own, in Winnipeg.
I'm not done everything, but a lot IS done and taken care. The more immediate was changing the locks and the banking. So, while everything is not as urgent now, it does need to be done, sooner rather than later.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, up and at it..dark outside, Christmas light on inside a d everything seems right with the world. Not sure what kind of day they are calling for but i am thinking except the odd drop of snow we just might make it through November without snow..

Dianne nice to see you post, glad you had help with the wood..sorry can’t seem to remember if it your only heating or if you use other and have fire going as a bonus..
Kai is quite a size, i be thinking you go where he wants to go when on a leash lol how are you feeling.

I do flange bindings at times but i am lucky it’s my hands and am able to hand stitch, I sooo enjoy hand stitching at night. I use the clips, find less holding and fidgeting when i use the.

Lindakay, sounds like you found the perfect full time job, at this time of year.

Ceil sure looks spiff in his new sweater, wouldn’t have gone for chemo either.

Susan, big sigh, how sad that going through so many happy years of marriage things have gone off the track.it’s got to hurt terribly wanting after all he did to have wanted to try and make it work and he did not..you’ve got much done, once all is in order you will feel much better. Here in Ontario once you have made a charge no way can it be dropped, must go through the entire court system.

Your quilt turned out lovely Pat, will you have all of the brought out to quilted?

Karen are you feeling better.

Best get a move on..it’s 6:30 and I’ve loads to do..Bernie brought me 6 pairs of jeans to be shortened, he is leaving shortly for Florida’s so there is a rush.Linda called me last night, wants to pick up canvas i use for pillows, she finds because she has chest dysplasia when she puts her hand in pillow slot it eases pain, so i can make her a few, .got to get those throws finished and start my own Xmas gifts, got a call about embroidering small Toronto maple leafs for a woman who wants to sew on her hand made socks but told her I’ve got much too much taken on, unusual fir me, always say yes..

Waving ti Deb and all others…

Best get some sewing done, have to go to midland today to get my injections otherwise i will have to wait a few more weeks for home visit.

Good morning !!

I've been up since 4:30 am - darn time change.

(((Susan))) I know you will stay strong and we are all here behind you cheering everything you've already accomplished in order to live your best life.

Still too dark to walk so will watch GMA.

Deb any photos of the pups ? They must be quite a size now,

Betty did you get freezing rain overnight ?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pat, that quilt is beautiful. Your son will love it.
Betty, praying your injection give you relief.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well crud. Woke up at four with my foot really hurting. Got up and all the skin came off my toe. Dang, I had been so careful and protective of it. There is not a single thing I can do today. It hurts to make the slightest move and no way I can cover it that isn't painful. Don't see how I can keep it from getting infected now.
Here's me in a chair with my foot up for the day.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, THAT sounds so miserable, I am sorry to hear it.

Susan, you have accomplished so MUCH! I just didn't hear "life insurance" or "will" and didn't want you to miss those!

Betty, that was the only quilt I sent out to a longarm quilter. I have more ready but I will see if I can get to them or will need to send out. They are NOT for this Christmas. She only charged me $113 to do the quilt. Considering it costs me $35 to rent a long arm, I KNOW the $113 is a steal. I am happy you can speed up the injections by going in rather than waiting weeks.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just back from town, time to rest my shoulder, just have to put away the ornament tissue, vacuum and will call it a day..nice warm bath is what i need..

No Dianne, we did get snow and there is a snow squall warning tonight and into tomorrow, always good when you don’t have to go anywhere. Are they calling for same in your region..i just put fireplace on, days like this wish mine was a wood burning fireplace…. Might even turn my bedroom one on to warm the bedroom so when i climb in i will be nice and toasty.

Wow Pat, $113 is unheard of here, think I would have mine done vs quilting them especially since i can’t you my left arm much..that being said I really should use the frame

Ouch ouch Karen, NOT the same but i bought one of those Walmart couch rests that have arms on them, found putting at end of bed for cover support it helps not having blankets directly on your feet…why is that happening?!

Lindakay, what are your hours, do you have specific working days??

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I already have a rack at the foot of my bed to hold the covers off. Today was a barefoot day. Put on antibiotic cream and started an antibiotic pill so hope it protects me.
I still went down to sew today. It was colder but I set up a heater and managed to get quite a bit done. I have the two embroidery machines set up side by side so can keep both running easily. I got nine ornaments made which doesn't sound like much but they have 16 - 20 thousand stitches so they take quite a while to run. Tomorrow jess and Bryan will be leaving for a couple days so heat will go up to a comfort level for me. Yesterday was pleasant but today was cold and rainy. I have the latest Outlander Novel scheduled to arrive next week so I will be able to read while the machines run.
I had been scheduled to go help with uniforms at school tomorrow but cannot put anything on my foot so had to back out. Good thing the basement has carpet tiles so I wasn't walking on cement barefoot.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Walking on cold cement hurts just to think about it!
